Hello ladies.. the previous thread is almost full so I thought it's time to move on to a new one to mark the start of trimester 2. Here's to fewer bouts of sickness and more "glowing" all around!

congrats dobe! it's pretty cool you skipped so much stress and arrived straight at 12 weeks!
I had a stressful day after my nuchal and scan on Thursday. The tests were perfect - my risk for Downs is 1 in 2528 which is low. My due date was moved 2 days so now I am due on March 31st and presumably I am only 12+5 today instead of being 13 weeks.
But I came home and was getting ready for work when I took a tumble down the stairs! scared myself silly because my tights and pants were soaked through and I was sure I was leaking amniotic fluid. Luckily my epu was really nice because they called me in for a scan the same evening even though it was after hours and thankfully, everything was normal. DH and I were so scared, I have now ordered a doppler so we can monitor baby ourselves.

oh and at the scan they said that there's a 70% chance it's a boy! Shock I wanted a girl but there's still hope. As long as baby is fine, I guess it's all good though.

Sounds very stressful LeeHandy glad all is well thats exciting you have a good idea what your having this early

LightTripper · 21/09/2013 08:22

Oh Lee, sounds horrible! Glad it ended well. There's just no end of scary stuff is there?

This pregnancy is turning me into a morning person. Going to bed earlier and earlier to avoid sickness (luckily lying down seems to help, and I don't tend to wake up in the middle of the night feeling sick). Which means 7am on a Saturday, feeling a bit queasy but not too bad, aware it's going to be my best bit of the day... So weird!! Usually I am a total night owl. Not sure i approve of the change. OH is still asleep, so might actually have to do some work Shock

Definitelysometime · 21/09/2013 12:16

Wow, Lee - congrats on the scan. How on earth could they tell 70% on the sex already? That's amazing. Also, you got your results super quickly. I had my 12 wk scan on Tuesday. Nuchal measurement looked ok I think but we won't get the results, and percentages, for a couple more weeks. Yet more waiting. The scan is just amazing though, isn't it?!

learnasyougo · 21/09/2013 15:06

my down's screening results have come back and it's 1:5096 which is very low. The radiographer said going by just the nt measurement it already looked good. (1.3mm). Baby measured 5.3cm, so about 2 inches. it's amazing how quickly they grow. Organs are all there. mind blowing, really.

LightTripper · 21/09/2013 15:29

Good news learn! How long did you have to wait between scan and results?

Vikkijayne2507 · 21/09/2013 18:32

Lots of good news stories good stuff ladies

LeeHandy · 21/09/2013 22:01

thanks Light and Vikki!
definitely my scan was at the Harris birthright centre where they do a lot of research so there was a senior person floating around giving instructions to the ultrasound operator. He showed us a line on the baby and said if that line was at 45 degrees it would be a boy and if horizontal, it would probably be a girl. TBH I don't know what it was or if he knew anything at all, but that's what he said! Smile
We had to only wait half an hour for our nuchal results so the whole process was really quick and efficient.

Hello, I am new here, first ever message actually! Due April 20th with #2, terrified of mmc because of 2 prior so properly on edge till my scan. Nausea started early at 5 weeks and I wanted to actually diiiiiiiiieeeeee but it seems to have lessened this last week, though I still have some very bad moments. Much worse than with my first!

Finally have my booking appt on Tuesday morning, does everyone else have green notes? Mine were yellow last time.

Look forward to getting to know you all Smile

Misty9 · 22/09/2013 07:39

Welcome chasing I'm on my 2nd too and also have awful nausea with this one when I didn't with ds. Horrible isn't it? It's lessening now and mostly horrid heartburn instead - but as long as I don't let myself get hungry it's not too bad. I have to eat porridge before bed every night else I feel terrible in the morning :)

My notes were yellow last time too, and I think they're green this time. Apparently they're pushing for standardised notes across the country (we're in different county to last time). Had my scan date through and it is the day we move house Shock so I'm hoping I can change it...

Feeling very tired after being kicked in the back by ds (2) most the night as he woke last night and wouldn't go back in his own bed. We've ordered a superking size bed and it can't arrive too soon!

Hope all have good days, whatever the weather.

Misty9 · 22/09/2013 07:40

Oops, forgot again - 11+1

CazInLondon · 22/09/2013 08:02

Welcome chasingclouds, and fingers crossed for you! Am also expectingt second, have had one MC in the past before my DS.

What do the colours on your notes mean?? Don't remember anything about it the last time round (and it was only last year!).

I have my booking in appointment at 10 o'clock today (feels so weird that it's on a Sunday. I'm guessing they have to work 7 days a week to cope with demand!). Bit apprehensive of the blood test - I have had hundreds of them in my life due to past medical conditions, yet I'm more scared of them than ever, silly isn't it.

Anyways, hope you ladies have a lovely, sunny Sunday :)

xx

LightTripper · 22/09/2013 08:29

Welcome chasingclouds! I think you are just a bit ahead of me. Sorry about the sickness (and misty). I am not having a very easy time, but this is my first so at least I'm not trying to take care of a toddler too! My booking appointment is not until after my 12 week scan, so ages yet to find out what colour my notes are! Smile

And good luck for your booking in Caz!

Chasingclouds · 22/09/2013 11:41

I should be 10+1 today, so the end is in sight, I'm hoping the sickness completely gets lost by 12 weeks because I'm so over it! I hope your house move goes well Misty, you're a brave soul doing it pregnant and with a toddler!! Are you moving far?

Thanks caz, I hope the blood tests go smoothly. My hubby hates needles too. I don't think the notes colours mean anything, it's just a different booklet than I had last time, though it was back in 2010. Seems more complicated with more pages tbh and they've renamed the "birth plan" section as "birth preferences"
It's weird - I got an appointment that I thought was my booking appointment, but was just a midwife giving me the notes and making me an appointment for my booking appointment, nice and uncomplicated!!

Really odd your scan is before your booking appointment light tripper!

This is disgusting but one of the things I seem to be able to eat no problem is... Chicken and mushroom pot noodles Shock I had the strongest random craving for one that's turned into me eating one every night before bed! Even more shocking is how much better they've made me feel, but they're probably going to help me beat my record of putting on 4 stone last pregnancy (mostly on my bum hahaha!!)

Seems ok weather today, hope everyone has a good one xx

dobedobedo · 22/09/2013 11:43

Hey! Yesterday I had my booking appointment with the midwife - she came to my house to do it. Everything seems so different this time around, compared to nine years ago with my first child. She tried to listen for the baby's heartbeat with the doppler but we only heard it faintly for a couple of seconds, which was disappointing for my other half as he didn't hear it because he didn't know what to listen for! Bless! Placenta sounds and blood supply sounds good apparently. Is it worth getting a doppler or do you think it will make me neurotically check for a heartbeat every five minutes?
Hopefully I'll get a scan next week.
Hope everyone else is doing good.
(12+4)

LightTripper · 22/09/2013 12:23

Thanks chasing! They were booked at the same time, and the booking in is the Monday after the scan on Friday, so not too far apart. I am in Hackney and think maternity services are very busy here, so I assume it just means the Homerton is slightly less backed up than the midwife! The good thing is booking in is at my local surgery, so nice and easy to get to (not that the Homerton is hard... Feel very lucky to be so close to a good hospital: my sister was there for her mmc and they were lovely, so I feel in safe hands).

LightTripper · 22/09/2013 13:30

Oh, and dobedo, I would definitely be neurotically checking all the time, but then I am a bit neurotic!

catameringue · 22/09/2013 13:38

Hi all,
Well since The Big Sick three weeks ago and everyone giving good advice, I have been plodding along until today.

Today has been vomit central, I feel like I have a temp but no, completely normal. Struggling to get fluid down again. Hope it will pass.

Vikkijayne2507 · 22/09/2013 14:23

my notes don't have a colour just a big white booklet. woke up 6am this morning needing loo and on way back to bed kick leg and toe on bed really hurt I then couldn't sleep and dss woke up at 7.30 all full of cold and so am very tired today

learnasyougo · 22/09/2013 14:48

My queasiness and loss of appetite have come back, and I pondered to myself: 'but what if you were actually ill. How would you know you weren't just experiencing pregnancy nausea?'

when you get the runs like water and recurring stomach cramps, that's how. ladies, this had been my weekend so far. high temperature (though not too alarming) and unable to keep down even water.
NHS guidance is to avoid immodium etc, stay hydrated and contact gp if it lasts more than 48hrs.
Fortunately DP is a natural carer, so has been looking after DS(1) and bringing me water.

nevergoogle · 22/09/2013 15:13

chasing, i agree on the pot noodle. horrible things really, but actually one of the few things i can stomach at the moment.

Cannotbelieveit · 22/09/2013 16:37

Welcomed chasing!

I had my booking in today and hight risk just as i thought! Due to previous EMCS, high BP last time and my now high BMI.

This fluey thing I have is vile and I've now lost my voice too!

DS (nearly 6 months) was good as gold at the booking in and flirting with the midwives after he napped!

Went to TK Maxx after and bought him 2 gro bags as he's outgrown his others!
