Hello ladies.. the previous thread is almost full so I thought it's time to move on to a new one to mark the start of trimester 2. Here's to fewer bouts of sickness and more "glowing" all around!

Oh learn, that sounds vile. Well done your DP for holding the fort, and hope you feel better soon!

Chasingclouds · 22/09/2013 18:01

Oh no there's not much worse than being ill while pregnant, I hope you feel better soon cannotbelieve How lovely your ds is so young, he's going to be bestest friends with #2 I bet! I wanted a small age gap but my periods didn't even come back till 20 mths after the birth, and my cycles were rubbish for ages after and I just couldn't get pregnant! Will you get extra monitoring being high risk? I wonder if I will be classed high risk for my first being premature?

My hubby is working till late 11pm ish tonight and the lights have decided to all fuse. Uurgh!! I am crap and don't know how to fix it, so I feel sorry for myself! At least I have a couple lamps I can use so it won't be pitch black. Hope everyone else has had a good day!

Misty9 · 22/09/2013 19:28

We're old hands at moving chasing - this'll be ds's fourth house in two years, and our 8th in 5 years Shock. Ds has taken the other moves in his stride (6wks, 7mo and 15mo) so we're hoping his being older won't mean he'll be too freaked out by this (final) one. Moving to our own place, at last.

Finally feeling more human (except in evenings) and managed some decorating of ds's room yesterday :) and a pub lunch today.

Cannotbelieveit · 22/09/2013 19:44

Chasing itll be extra scans and checks and consultant appointments

The reason DS was emcs is cos I'd gone in for lack of movement and he still didn't move and his heart rate was really high. He seemed fine when he was born but the day after his blood sugared were checked cos he wasn't feeding properly and his blood sugars didn't even register they were that low. He spent 16 days in SCBU. And finally came out on his due date. I'm happy to have any extra checks as I don't want something. Like that happening again!

CazInLondon · 22/09/2013 19:45

The appointment went well, thanks LightTripper and chasingclouds - the midwife called my name and as soon as she saw me she said "I recognise you" and I was like, "So do I!". I saw her a few times as she was following DS from birth for a few weeks, and he's 10 months now so it's still quite recent I guess. I was amazed at how small a world it is, it's London after all so quite vast and lots of MWs working in that big hospital :)

catameringue and learnasyougo, sounds horrible, really sorry you're having such a tough time. Hope it eases off and goes down to the level of just nausea, as opposed to not being able to keep anything down :/ (I'll stop feeling sorry for myself now, constant nausea's rubbish but at least am not throwing up!).

xx

CazInLondon · 23/09/2013 08:02

Must have been so lovely Misty9 :)

cookielove · 23/09/2013 09:12

I so want a doppler now!

dobedobedo · 23/09/2013 10:05

Arghhhhh think I'm going to have to tell my boss I'm pregnant today. She's getting suspicious about the time off (for blood tests and then there's the scan soon and all that jazz) and I don't want her complaining that I'm skiving or something. Also she keeps asking me to carry heavy boxes, desks etc and I'm sure I'm not supposed to be at that!
Wish me luck - she's not going to be happy.

LeeHandy · 23/09/2013 11:47

I ordered a doppler and expecting it today. can't wait. Grin
dobe good luck! hope your boss takes it decently.
I have a question for the second, third timers here. How does it feel to have baby move? I read that you feel it earlier when you know what it feels like. I am trying to figure out if vague butterflies in stomach is gas baby moving. Smile
13 weeks today according to dating scan.

LightTripper · 23/09/2013 12:52

Good luck dobedo! Fwiw I was worried about telling mine (she sailed through her pregnancies working like a machine) but actually she has been very cool and flexible about it - I'm now finishing early on weekdays and doing a bit on weekend mornings to catch up, so I still feel like I'm doing my bit, but I'm doing it mainly from home and she's been great about telling me not to do things that aren't absolutely necessary, and generally pretty supportive. Not sure how long this will last, but so far so good! Fingers crossed yours is also understanding when it comes to it...

dobedobedo · 23/09/2013 13:27

Well I told my boss, and she was fine about it actually, phew!
I don't think I need to reduce my hours yet or anything, but a little nap at lunchtime would be amazing. Think that's pushing my luck though! Grin

I think I've popped out a bit. My trousers definitely feel tighter than they were last week and I haven't put on weight, so I can only assume it's the baby. I still don't know when the scan will be - I really hope it's this week or next! I'll be 13 weeks on Wednesday!

Chasingclouds · 23/09/2013 15:29

LeeHandy it depends on your placenta - I had an anterior placenta meaning it was on the front so it blocked most of the movement feelings so I missed all the early little flutters and only started feeling the big kicks that happened to the side of the placenta from about 20, 21 weeks onwards. I think 13 weeks very early for a first baby, it's usually between 18-22wks, but it could be I suppose. I'm hoping for a posterior one this time!!

I reeeeeaaaaally want a Doppler too, but hubby has forbid it, said I will drive myself crazy with it, the big spoilsport!

I'm still a stay at home mummy to my toddler so no work to worry about telling, but I'm not looking forward to telling my mother!

crazycranberry · 23/09/2013 17:07

chasingclouds Pot Noodles eh? Weirdly I had a craving for a beef and tomato one just the other day (not had one in years!) but annoyingly I got halfway though it and didn't fancy it anymore! This is happening with most meals. I get halfway though and then it's like my body just says "nope - no more of that please" Angry

Did a little bit of decorating at the weekend but still found I needed a nap in the afternoon (must be my age! Haha). Nausea still very much there 24hrs but at least I am making myself eat this time (I was sick for 17weeks with DS and I actually LOST weight!).

Got my scan booked for 10th Oct - cant wait!!!! I do hope everything will be ok. The wait is nerve wracking isn't it?!!! Had booking appt last week and midwife did go on and on about downs etc due to my age. Not the great appointment I hoped for Sad

DP is brig a total STAR! He makes me breakfast in bed every day now (can't seem to get up without a bowl of porridge inside me first!) and he is making school lunch for my DS. This will be his first baby and he is doing a great job of being totally supportive. I am very very lucky. [big grin]

10weeks today

crazycranberry · 23/09/2013 17:08

Brig = being

CazInLondon · 23/09/2013 17:33

Hi LeeHandy, with my first I started to suspect I was feeling movement at around 17 weeks. The best way I can describe it is like when you have gas and little bubbles move in your lower belly - super subtle at first. The funny thing is, during the 8 months' break I had in between my previous pregnancy and this one, I got this bubble sensation a lot, clearly it was gas but every time I thought "Hey, it's the same as when the baby was first moving!".

crazycranberry, we're scan buddies, mine's also on 10/10 :)

crazycranberry what a horrible midwife you had, I wouldn't give the age thing two thoughts. I don't know how old you are but last year my 44 year old friend delivered a perfect little boy, yet my 23 year old friend (god I wish I was that young still!) got a result back for downs screening of very low risk, less than 1 in 15000 chance, every scan looked perfect, then she delivered a gorgeous little girl who sadly had Down's syndrome. Point being, statistics don't mean a hoot when you're the wrong side of them, so ignore it all and enjoy your pregnancy. Your DP sounds like an absolute star! My hubby only shows concern when my nausea is interfering with his sex requests haha!

LightTripper · 23/09/2013 18:42

I was prescribed some blooming, but gave up on them quite quickly because I still felt awful, just took longer to throw up (which is sometimes a relief!). So now I'm trying to manage it through eating and sleep. Might take one in the morning though, as I have a client meeting ... Dreading it!

Vikkijayne2507 · 23/09/2013 19:33
