Hello ladies.. the previous thread is almost full so I thought it's time to move on to a new one to mark the start of trimester 2. Here's to fewer bouts of sickness and more "glowing" all around!

I no patsy but it won't be as much as normal I think they just annoy me so much last time I rang them saying about itching they fobbed me off so I rang the hospital who took a blood test just to be sure aand turned out I had OC I cant understand how a midwife 20 mins up the road can be soo much different they didn't like the fact the hospital I chose isnt the one there connected with so much so they hid my notes this time and then said o we hid them hopeing you wouldnt want to go back there because paperwork too long I no they didnt mean it in an horrible way but it just pissed me off sorry rant over just really can't be be assed with them x

patsy375 · 05/11/2013 22:18

Not surprised you cant be arsed with them after that! That's shocking!
Maybe you could tell your consultant how you feel and see if they're happy to do all your antenatal appointments at the hospital where you know you'll get good care.
Meanwhile enjoy your pregnancy and rant her anytime you need to xx

LeeHandy · 05/11/2013 22:36

welcome bunny!
blooming, I am also a bit shocked at the midwife's behavior. Shock

I got my first pair of maternity trousers today from gap. they fit very well even if they aren't very trendy. I was a bit stunned to see my bump though. Shock I have been wearing a lot of loose dresses and empire tops and never realized that I now have a proper bump... Grin
my 20 week scan is on 13th and we're off on holiday on the 16th so I have my fingers crossed for it on so many levels!
glad to see the sickness is easing off for everyone.

I ordered my maternity wear from H&M and Next to reduce the cost as I will not be wearing it for too long. It should come in this week. I had been managing with some loose cloths and couple of dresses I bought from Mamas & Papas. My bump started showing since 17-18 weeks ...

BunnyBump1 · 06/11/2013 08:07

I felt like a few flutters in 19 th week however do not feel a thing this week. Kinda worried a bit, as I am not sure whether it is normal to not feel any movements in 20th week...:-(

Cannotbelieveit · 06/11/2013 09:12

Welcome bunny! Is this your first?

I think some ladies don't start feeling regular movement til after 20 weeks.

I'm 15+4 and it's been sporadic since 13 weeks but with DS it really started picking up after the 20 week scan

ChaffinchOfDoom · 06/11/2013 11:20

Hey ladies

after some googling around..
Easter falls on April 20th next year
anyone considering an easter-y name?
march 26 - april 19 is Aries the ram
2014 the Chinese year of the snake

ChaffinchOfDoom · 06/11/2013 11:21

no! the year of the horse. whoops.

ChaffinchOfDoom · 06/11/2013 11:23

this year is the snake.

Cannotbelieveit · 06/11/2013 12:07

Names already sorted but nice idea chaffinch!

DS was due April 16th this year but was born on Easter Sunday 31st march!

How is everyone getting on with names?

Hi Cannot, Yes it is my first. I went into GP to get a Doppler heart check done, everything sounded fine. just to get peace of mind :-) waiting for my scan on Friday

nevergoogle · 06/11/2013 12:33

sorry to be such a drain on this thread amongst the excitement but i'm not doing well at all.
The sickness and uselessness has now tipped into depression.
Oh and the guilt of having to restart anti-depressants mid pregnancy is killing me. I have to let go of my 'wanting to do pregnancy right', it's been so important to me to avoid caffeine in pregnancy, but i can barely stomach fruit and veg (forget meat), vitamins make the sick and now I have to start on medication with unknown effects, it seems caffeine is the least of my worries.
Thankfully I have a good supportive team in my midwife, GP, perinatal mental health team and they are currently coming up with a plan.
Work have been understanding but as the main earner in the household, not being able to work doesn't feel very good and worries me for the future too.

I so want to start enjoying this pregnancy.

Oh and names are driving me mad. Cannot make a decision and the names i like are a bit marmite, as are DH's favourites. I have too much time on my hands at the moment to think about it.

ChaffinchOfDoom · 06/11/2013 13:30

im sorry you're feeling like that nevergoogle at times when the realities hit, it does seem terrifying and nerve wracking to everyone. I am already obsessing about the spinal injection of the C-section, I utterly loathe them and am scared they'll make a mistake.
do you get some sort of sick pay if you need to be off?
the antidepressants they've given you must be safe, no drug at all is 'recommended' during pg, but it is widely accepted many are safe. I am on very strong anti-emetics, and cannot stomach any vitamins, due to hyperemesis I am having to cope with what I fancy eating so don't worry, the baby will get exactly what it needs from you.
we're only human! doing the best that we can. You already show through your worry how much you care - you'll be a fantastic momma, and in these tough weeks it's a question of keeping your head down and finding little pleasures in things like a good book, a crunchy apple, online shopping etc.
as for names!! my dh drives me mad he likes opposite spectrum names to what I like.
keep using this thread to blast out how you're doing Thanks

nevergoogle · 06/11/2013 13:59

yes the spinal! the last time I had one was for a gynae op. I had a massive panic attack with flashbacks to DS1's traumatic birth and had to have gas and air too!

Would like to bypass the whole pregnancy and birth and skip to April right now.

Had a lovely moment this morning when i lay in bed with a sleepy boy under each arm cuddling in. Moments like that keep me going. It really is all worth it in the end. Where a third is going to fit in to morning cuddles i'm not sure?

catameringue · 06/11/2013 15:20

Oh never, that sounds like a lot of pressure on yourself.

I'm currently in bed, smelling of vom, having seemingly gotten a stomach bug. No temp, just feeling like I'm burning up and a nice angry headache to boot.

We each roll differently to get through this. Just do what you need to do to get through this never. Some people take heroin and smoke whilst pregnant. well thats what dh said to me when i confessed to missing out on vitamins. I think you're being completely sensible in looking after yourself. Xx

prettyinpink90 · 06/11/2013 16:59

Welcome bunny Smile

chaffinch I'm due on Good Friday but won't be going for any Easter names. We have a name picked for a boy but girls are so much harder.

Had my 16 week midwife appointment today and all seems well, I must have only been in there for 10 minutes. She took my bloody pressure, did a dip test and listened to the baby's heartbeat which was clear and loud. It did take a minute or two to find it though.

patsy375 · 06/11/2013 19:32

Ahh pretty glad you got to hear a heartbeat.
Never I agree with the other posts, you have to do whatever is needed to get you through and it sounds like you're very sensibly getting lots of support from all the right people.
Im having my detailed scan tomorrow, nervous and excited all at once.
Anxious to know all is well with babys development but also going to find out the sex!
After 3 beautiful boys I'm quietly hoping a little pink may come our way!
18+4

prettyinpink90 · 06/11/2013 20:11

Good luck for your scan tomorrow patsy Smile sending some pink fairy dust your way!

patsy375 · 06/11/2013 20:16

Thank you prettyinpink who could be more appropriate than you to send it my way

Vikkijayne2507 · 06/11/2013 22:28

sorry to hear you're struggling never Google Im glad you have a supportive team behind you.

PrincessKitKat · 07/11/2013 08:58

Hi all. I've not been on here for quite a long time & sorry if this has been done to death, but does anyone have any strong opinions on finding out the baby's sex? I just can't decide... I think I'd bond more with my bump but we don't get many true surprises in life do we?

I'm sorry to hear people are still feeling really lousy Sad makes me a bit sheepish about my petty moans about squeaky hips and itchy boobage.

ChaffinchOfDoom · 07/11/2013 10:08

princess you can a) keep it a surprise...very exciting for all concerned, but less able to plan/prepare/buy gender colours
b) find out and keep it a secret...sweet idea but in practice v hard as people are VERY interested to know
c) find out and tell everyone, you can prepare and plan certain things, but no surprise
however, they can and do tell you the wrong sex at times, due to misleading ultrasound pics, so even if you find out I think it's healthy to consider the other possibility too Grin

ChaffinchOfDoom · 07/11/2013 10:09

prettyinpink Grin at ''bloody pressure'' Grin

prettyinpink90 · 07/11/2013 10:55
