Hello ladies.. the previous thread is almost full so I thought it's time to move on to a new one to mark the start of trimester 2. Here's to fewer bouts of sickness and more "glowing" all around!

Hello. I'm a bit late coming to the group, but thought it was time I joined! I'm due 24th April, so 14+2. This will be my second - dd is 19 months. Horrendous sickness (which I did't have before) has now passed, all fine at the scan( we opted out of the downs syndrome tests) and now just trying to find some maternity clothes ththat bear a passing resembalance to something I would wear normally - no wraps, smocks, tunics or keggibgs. It's just depressing!!

BindiBarbarella · 26/10/2013 12:55

Cata I don't really have any other advice than what's already been said on here. I can see both of your perspectives and I can't imagine how tough this must be for you :(

Sending you positive vibes and Thanks

Sugar - I am due same day as you Smile

Thanks all, had a tiring day trudging around baby show however it was a great opportunity to demo every model!

Favourite is uppababy vista. shame about the price, so keeping an eye on eBay etc.

ChaffinchOfDoom · 26/10/2013 21:20

ooooh did you see some gorgeous blankets? I'm all about striped knitted blankets...

Cannotbelieveit · 26/10/2013 22:51

LeeHandy · 27/10/2013 07:56

choc i'm curious why your name keeps changing with these dark names... Grin rough stuff going on for you?

I had planned on the baby show but has step son this weekend so will continue playing in shops

Trinpy · 27/10/2013 11:59

hi sugar and congratulations Smile .

Glad you enjoyed the baby show cat

There was a problem with the buagaboo cameleon I ordered so I've been given a refund. PiL have kindly offered to buy us a travel system instead though because prams are so much cheaper where they live. I suppose because they're less well known European brands they don't have the celebrity endorsement of a bugaboo! I'll try and put up a link to the one we're getting in a minute so you can see.

Has anyone else felt any little kicks or movements yet? I've been feeling funny squirms every so often since Friday. Very strange feeling and nothing like I imagined it would be, but it's so exciting!

I had flutters from about 17 weeks first time around, but this time I have an anterior placenta so told it might take longer. I keep imagining I can feel squirms, though. Lucky you trinpy, it's such a nice feeling.

BartBaby · 27/10/2013 21:02

Hello everyone. I've not posted on here for ages although I have been lurking to see how everyone is getting on and to see what pram recommendations you all have Smile

Just wanted to update and say we've had a scan this week and it's a girl!! We've already got a ds so were very pleased.

I've also been feeling a few flutters aswell the past couple of weeks. Like she is doing a somersault. An amazing feeling and very reassuring.

I hope everyone is doing ok. And hello to any newbies!

prettyinpink90 · 27/10/2013 21:28

Have any of you ladies had any shooting pains? I woke up last night and as I turned over I had a shooting pain in my lower right side, it happened a few times but then went once I got up and walked around a bit. Nothing again until tonight when I have been lying on the couch watching a film and it happens a few times again. Once I've got up it seems to have gone again. Any ideas?

Amazing news on the scan bart Smile

Vikkijayne2507 · 27/10/2013 21:38

ive been getting like stretching pains sometimes really uncomfortable its worse at night and first thing. It's been this week I've started looking pregnant and only 1 jumper hides it. I thought I wouldnt show this early. I also last 2 days been weeing tons I've been 14 times today so far. hearing hb easily now and maybe feeling a movement but not sure. 16 + 4 weeks

Misty9 · 27/10/2013 22:36

Hi all,

Congrats on the girl bart. Dh really wants a girl, but I'd be happy with two little boys :)

I've been feeling movement for a couple weeks now (posted about it a while back on this thread) but it's sporadic. Also getting shooting pains if I bend over or sudden movement - just normal I think. I look bloody massive and already starting to get the 'ooh, how long left?' Comments Confused - I generally reply, bloody ages! In mat clothes fully now have been for weeks and my wardrobe is seriously lacking...

Right, off to bed; two year olds don't quite follow clocks going back... Brew

I guess some pains are stretching and moving ones, and some may be caused by trapping a nerve as the weight of our tums increases. If its down the leg sciatica type pain then yoga is good for this.

I'm experiencing my first major migraine since pg. Paracetamol is useless so just riding it out.

prettyinpink90 · 28/10/2013 08:09

Thanks for the reassurance ladies, I'm a newbie to all this.
Sorry to hear you're getting migraines cata, they are really nasty and worse because there isn't much you can take for relief.
How exciting that some of us are starting to feel movement. I've felt the odd bubbly sensation in my stomach but just put it down to gas.

I'm 15+3... jumping ahead of myself!

LightTripper · 28/10/2013 10:52

Hello all - welcome to the new ladies! Hope nobody's been blown away (maybe we should be a bit further along ... not sure whether baby bump would help with wind-stability or the opposite?!)

Had a nice weekend. Sickness not much changed, but still pretty good during the day, and amazingly the adrenaline kicked in for my reunion and I managed to stay for pretty much the whole thing (admittedly sat down for most of it!) Was lovely to see everybody and share my news face to face with some people who hadn't heard. We had lovely weather too, everything looked gorgeous - feel very lucky

A couple of ladies suggested week 16 was the breakthrough for them, sickness wise - which is not too far off now!

Not really showing much yet or having pains, and definitely not feeling flutterings yet - but I'm a few weeks behind a lot of you, so probably not surprising!

xx

bundaberg · 28/10/2013 11:11

cata I was prescribed migraleve for migraines during my previous pregnancies. You can buy it over the counter...

catameringue · 28/10/2013 11:53

Bunda - didn't work for me sadly. I usually take ones that cause blood pressure to drop. Despite having low blood pressure anyway they really worked!

Think currently we're not going to do harmony test and just have specialist nhs 20 week scan and see how that goes. It's hard to know whether to tell anyone irl about this. I think my dm would be very upset and worried.

Anyway, I feel like recently I've taken over the thread! I feel quite accepting of it all now.

Let's talk about fun things - what do newborn babies wear?? I'm totally clueless about everything!

BeansAndCheese · 28/10/2013 12:06

Stay positive cata, really good attitude.

Newborns need vests, baby grows and maybe a cardigan (maybe not in April, I had a winter baby last time!), light blankets are handy too. Snow suits and coats are lovely, but such a faff to get little arms in. Day clothes and outfits look really cute on the hanger, but so uncomfortable on the baby. Dresses are useless until they are standing as they spend the whole up their armpits! Nice to have a few outfits for outings and photos though.

Can't think of anything else, newborns don't need much really
