Hello ladies.. the previous thread is almost full so I thought it's time to move on to a new one to mark the start of trimester 2. Here's to fewer bouts of sickness and more "glowing" all around!

Welcome tiptop!

If anyone gets an oyster pushchair I am selling the carrycot for it as need the new version of the carrycot to fit the oyster double.

DS used it for about 3-4 months so we didn't find it a waste. It's in pristine condition as I covered the bed part in there xx

Lee I have the family fix base and will use the cabriofix again for new bean. My big 6 month old DS is in the next stage seat already!! Shock

13+1 Grin

mamapants · 20/10/2013 14:11

DS has just about outgrown his cabriofix so LO will be able to use it. I'll just need to find the newborn head thingy.
We will now need to buy another size 1 carseat for DS for DPs car. Expensive business babies.

DS always liked his carrycot, infact we use to have to get him to sleep in his little soft carrycot and then transfer him to moses basket for the night for quite a while.

He also was great at going to sleep in ergo carrier. If you can hold off buying things it is worth trying things out before committing.

mamapants · 20/10/2013 14:26

Cross post cannotbelieveit I cannot believe your 6month old has outgrown the cabriofix!! [Shock]
My DS is 15mths and still fits in his!

Tiptop32 · 20/10/2013 16:39

Thanks for the welcome :) yes hoping 11 yr old will be helpful although he told me yesterday that if its a girl we should give it away to his mates mum as he doesn't want a baby sister!!! And I got a nagging feeling its going to be a girl!

I Donno what pram I'm going get yet - I looked last week and decided that I would just have a sling as none of the prams do what I want!!!! Think I will have an uphill struggle to find one I am happy with! (Let alone one that dp likes and satisfies me pram snob dm!!!!) and everything has changed since I had my first - feel like I am starting all over again!!! Thankfully I kept the cot and Moses basket cos they had sentimental value! So 2 things less to buy

Misty9 · 20/10/2013 21:03

Hi all,

Welcome tiptop, I'm 15+2 so we're almost date buddies :) ds is only 2 though, so you're a tad more experienced Grin

Haven't felt so sicky the last couple of days, and almost enjoying food again! Still get evening sickness and heartburn, but I can live with that. Here's hoping the nausea will keep lessening off.

cata for what you want, I'd say the mamas and papas glide which we got for ds is a great system. Nice roomy carrycot and easy to change which bit you're using on the base frame. It was £350 when we got it, but more now I think. We need a new car seat as used my brother's last time and he wanted it back. Probably going with maxi cosi mainly due to the easy to use bases.

Is anyone else feeling movement yet? I've been feeling pip for a few days now and it's a wriggly thing :) unlike it's older brother who was a lazy so and so in the womb. I had an anterior placenta with ds so only felt big kicks and rolls from 21wks or so - so all these little movements are a new thing to me!

Cannotbelieveit · 20/10/2013 22:34

Mama pants he's ok to go in the cabrio fix weight wise but legs hang over and head taller than the back of it. He's much more comfortable in the next stage one!! Plus he's too he's too heavy to pick up in the cabrio fix iykwim! He's approaching 10kg!

catameringue · 20/10/2013 23:55

So based on 'having a play', and avoiding anything over 500, I like the Graco evo and Silver cross 3d.

Mothercare expedior is ok as well. I felt some were very fussy and liked the simpler looking ones.

Based on Which I want the maxi cosi seat as it gets the top safety rating. I'm confused by the different bases though.

More browsing next week!

Is anyone struggling with sleep at the moment. I seem to only get a few hours each night (dd permitting). Was crying all over the place yesterday because I am so tired. Really embarrassing, acting like a stroppy 5 year old! Need sleep!

Hey Beetle, my understanding is that it is always better to lie on your left side because it means there is no pressure on a big important artery that goes towards your uterus (I may not be quite anatomically accurate but that's the gist of it). Second best is lying on your right side, but lying on your back is a no-no as your pregnancy progresses because there is a risk that your growing uterus will put pressure on said artery and the supply towards baby will be reduced. I'm not entirely sure what it's like for twins but I should think it's a similar story... As for getting squashed, my guess would be that gravity doesn't really apply to them while they're in the womb, as they're in the amniotic fluid? At least not until they are way bigger?

Have a look online to get more accurate info but this is what I remember off the top of my head from my last pregnancy. Hope you manage to rest and that your little ones are okay after the incident a few days ago!

xx

New to this blog and I really like it. I'm due in 1st week of April and my excitement knows no bounds. Find sleeping a bit difficult especially at night is that just me or is it normal.

BeansAndCheese · 22/10/2013 07:22

No cjay, me too. Feel awful, because I am so tired. Didn't help my 22 mo was in a very chatty mood last night!

catameringue · 22/10/2013 07:45

Hi,

I too am finding getting to sleep difficult even though I'm tired all the time.

Oh forgot to say that scan went well, nt measurement has remained 3.1 and they did the blood test so I'll get my risk figure. I'm not going to worry about it though.

Thanks, beetle. I remember last time around we went on holiday for a week at this time and I felt exhausted, but I don't remember not sleeping. Trouble is this time there is other stuff going on. Just moved house and have some renovations etc to do, dh has had some health issues, toddler who sleeps well generally but usually wakes me at least once. Hope fully things will settle down in a few weeks.

I may also investigate the possibility of a jacket potato with beans and cheese! Sounds just right that.

springfling · 22/10/2013 12:24

Hi everyone,
Have been terrible at posting, but still love reading all your news.
We are just now turning our attention to prams and really trying to save money but get something good too. I'm new to all this - first baby! Does anyone have any tips/advice/recommended sites or places for buying second hand? I think we want a bugaboo chameleon?
Have felt much less sick since week 12 but had strange re-lapse yesterday on the tube - v embarrassing! Wanted to tell people "I promise its pregnancy, not a hangover!"

17 + 1

catameringue · 22/10/2013 14:13

Well my eBay second hand tip is to do a search of the exact item, save the search and set up an alert so it tells you when one is listed. Sometimes you can ask to view the item before bidding.

Lovely to hear the heartbeat Vikki! I had my blood test on Friday, but no results yet. Slightly weirdly my midwife didn't take blood at my booking in, but got me to come back to the surgery and get a practice nurse to do it. He was obviously a bit surprised, but anyway he was lovely and I wasn't too busy at work, so no harm done!

Still feeling a bit better. Day times are suite good, just a bit queasy rather than full on sea-sickness. Evenings remain rough, but not until about 7 or 8 and I've generally been going to bed around 9, so only a couple of hours to put up with. I really want to try to find a way to extend that for my reunion on Saturday though! I'm wondering if having a nap or lie in might give me an extra hour or two at the end of the day. Must be worth a go anyway!

wendle70 · 23/10/2013 08:41

Hi all and welcome new additions to the thread!

For sleeping issues previously I found all of these helpful (if you have an iphone): headspace meditation app and paul mckenna i can make you sleep app plus you are supposed to not think of lying on a beach but doing something difficult with a nice end goal like a mountain trek to a warm hut! Works for me. I've been sleeping ok but share the worries about which side...left is fine, right makes me feel sick and i do like my back..going to have to stop that.

Also realised not been taking vit D since 12 weeks as stopped taking the folic acid ones which had it in it. Is everyone else?

Sickness still bad really with a morning puke which is fine but then a big evening puke which is horrid. Obviously feel sick all day too. Cant bring myself to take the anti sickness meds yet though. Trying to get to 15 weeks (am 13 +5) and see if i feel better...Please do post when the sickness eases as gives me hope mine will too!

BeansAndCheese · 23/10/2013 08:58

I read somewhere that the advice about laying on your back is something to do with early epidurals, which used heavy medications and meant people couldn't move. This meant when the large blood vessels were compressed they got breathless etc. If you are sleeping on your back and you get circulation problems you will move instinctively. The most important thing is you get the sleep you need, so lay however you are comfortable. I can't sleep on my back anyway, but sometimes find it the best position to relieve stiffness and aches.

LightTripper · 23/10/2013 20:16

Hello! Feeling a bit mis. Desperately want to be properly well! I know it is getting better and i should be grateful. But still. Blech.

Anyway, settling in to NEW Poirot, which should take my mind off it a bit... Although I've just seen its 2 hours, so will have to record the second half!

ChocChaffinchEvilGhostBird · 23/10/2013 20:53

had my flu jab - sore arm, and MW check up all ticking on OK.

don't have paypal so ebay not really an option for me, also keep an eye on your local charity shops - ask them to ring you when a buggy comes in?
