Hello ladies.. the previous thread is almost full so I thought it's time to move on to a new one to mark the start of trimester 2. Here's to fewer bouts of sickness and more "glowing" all around!

And congratulations on your scan and due date mamapants!

mamapants · 18/10/2013 19:53

Thank you lighttripper think I'm one of the last to get a scan.
There was at least one other person today though I think.

bLooming2 · 18/10/2013 19:55

bLooming2 · 18/10/2013 19:57

BindiBarbarella · 18/10/2013 21:55

Hello ladies!

Sorry to hear your news Beetle but I'm sure like someone else said, that the fact they are not panicking is definitely a good sign.

Really feel terrible for all of you still suffering with sickness etc - sending you lots of Thanks to make you feel better!

I am also clueless with prams. Went to Mothercare and felt like I was in a car showroom...where the hell do you start?!

Sorry for the TMI but I have a question about discharge...mine is increasing but seems to differ from quite wet where it looks like I've peed a bit in my knickers to being really...jelly-like (?!). Please some of you tell me you have the same!!

xxx

LightTripper · 19/10/2013 07:59

Hello Bindi! Apparently increased discharge is normal, and fine as long as it doesn't smell nasty (my midwife says like fish!!). Doesn't sound like yours is smelly? If it's kind of egg whitey I think that's ok, but maybe ring your midwife on Minday if you're still worried?

wendle70 · 19/10/2013 10:53

Hello ladies

Quick update. Had scan today and so relieved. Harmony test and nuchal scan came back great couldnt have wished for better. Baby looks good and was moving around a lot even trying to touch his toes! And it's a boy! Much more used to girls with OH having 2 girls and me having a much younger half sister so lots to learn!

Still puking in the morning and most evenings ...went back to drs and was prescribed stemetil (sp?) but am holding off taking anything for now as am hoping it will ease soon.

Pram discussions...so much to consider. I think i need to start drawing a pros and cons list..need it to do everything...

Congrats on the night out light bet that really lifted your spirits. Hope you feel better beetle. Welcome eerie!

Got my first social event in a long time..lunch today with friends. So hoping I dont puke...!

wendle70 · 19/10/2013 10:55

Ps bindi i read that's normal (according to the what to expect when you're expecting app) so dont worry

LeeHandy · 19/10/2013 12:58

Wendle and Mamapants congratulations, am so glad your scan went well!

Bunda the baby jogger city versa review on MN says it's from 6 months only and not from birth so I didn't actually consider it. But I see that they sell an optional carrycot to use from birth and the whole system becomes 590 which is not cheap but solidly in uppababy vista class. So I will do some more research on this one.

Glad you had a good evening out Light! It's great that things are looking up for you now. Smile

For those near a John Lewis or close enough to go to the Peter Jones store in London, I believe their nursery advice service is excellent. They go around the store with you and give you lots of advice on what you may need or not and there's no obligation to buy.

Cata, I really like the look of the Stokke explory! A friend has one and it's held up well over the last three years. The great thing about it is that the baby sits really high so you can have proper conversations with them while they are in it. But it's really heavy and the storage space is limited. Plus it's ridiculously overpriced. Shock

I got my flu shot today. Has anyone else had theirs yet? Hope everybodys having a sickness free weekend!

BindiBarbarella · 19/10/2013 19:16

Aww thanks everyone :) It doesn't smell, it was just a LOT at once and I panicked a bit. Been fine today so I think I'll put it down to another delightful pregnancy symptom!

So pleased to hear your news Wendle - and RE the Stemetil, my Gran takes that for vertigo sickness, something to do with balance/ears etc etc so fingers crossed it works for you.

Happy Saturday everyone :) x

bundaberg · 19/10/2013 19:48

lee the versa gt is "only" £283 on amazon atm too...!

bundaberg · 19/10/2013 19:48

bargain!

LeeHandy · 19/10/2013 20:28

ooooh bunda that's a really good price. oh no.. i can't buy a stroller without even trying it IRL first. Let me see if I can convince DH to go stroller browsing tomorrow! Wink

ChocChaffinch · 19/10/2013 20:37

it's nice yet air tyres for me are a huge no-no, even if they declare themselves unpuncturable

bundaberg · 19/10/2013 20:38

they're "forever air" which i believe means they're filled with foam... a bit like those self-inflating mattresses I suppose? so soft and squishy like air filled, but not puncturable

ChocChaffinch · 19/10/2013 20:58

mothercare doing a free car seat with certain buggies

ChocChaffinch · 19/10/2013 21:07

also nice with free carseat

LightTripper · 19/10/2013 21:22

Wow, that is a bit less scary! If you read the bassinet review, the reviewer suggested just getting a soft carrier for newborns and then the stroller on its flattest setting is actually ok for less than 6 months (though I'm sure that depends on the baby!!)

Still feeling a bit better. Not 100pc, but if my state a week ago was 0pc I'd say I'm back to a good 60 to 70 now, so can't complain. Really hoping I am properly better for my reunion next weekend, but even if I'm only as good as now I think I'll be able to go, even if if have to give up a bit early.

Hope the other sickness sufferers start to find things looking up a bit soon too!

Have a lovely Sunday ladies.

LT xx

13+3

moominleigh94 · 20/10/2013 08:38

Hey everyone :) I posted on here a month and a bit ago when I found out I was pregnant, guessing no-one remembers me but I'm 19 and was panicking because just about to start 2nd year, parents going to kill me etc.

Just thought I'd pop in as my due date puts me in the April thread, so I may split my time between this and the Maybies as I'm guessing I'll go overdue. Had my 12 week scan on Thursday, saw a heartbeat and got an EDD of 28th April, so I'm 12+6 today :)

Hope you're all doing well. Any tips from early April-ers on when this sickness is likely to end?

LightTripper · 20/10/2013 08:45

Hello Moomin! Sorry you're feeling rough. Hopefully a bit less panicked now though?

Since being able to talk to friends, I've taken a bit of a poll and for "normal" sickness (I.e. Not HG) end date seems to be anywhere between 12-20 weeks (but 20 was only one person in one pregnancy, most were 12-16, so hopefully you don't have too much longer to put up with it). I am less than a week ahead of you and definitely improving quite a bit, so it could start to get better any day. Hang on in there!

catameringue · 20/10/2013 10:30

Right I have a pushchair action plan!
A quick nose in a big mothercare later today, and going to a baby show next week.

I think I'm after:
A pushchair/pram, preferably one that's compatible with maxicosi car seat. That fits in my car boot.

Fortunately we have no money spare this month for such purchases so no impulse buying!

I'm 13+4 and sickness is easing.

I've got my official 12 week scan tomorrow as they are v busy where I live. I had a private one at 10+6.

I got a letter in the post asking me to go to another scan at 17 weeks - I thought the next one was later than that?

Also, I've been referred to consultant at hospital by midwife at booking appt because of my medical history. So do they take over the midwife care or do I need to keep making local midwife appts as per my green book?

Tiptop32 · 20/10/2013 10:52

Hi all - is there room for me?? I'm 15 +3 and due April 10th. 2nd child- left the gap a bit big as my eldest is 11!!!!

mamapants · 20/10/2013 13:45

I'm a bit jealous of all you shopping for prams. I will only need to buy double attachement for mine.
I found going and having a play really useful. I found lots of them were really flimsy which instantly put me off.
Make sure to practice going up and down steps, folding, lifting and cornering.

LeeHandy · 20/10/2013 13:46

Welcome Tiptop and congratulations!

Luckily I am not tempted at all by free car seats unless someone is giving Maxi cosi's out for free. I know for sure that I am going to get a Maxi-cosi cabriofix with the family fix base. That's one decision taken care of! :)

I am wondering if we should just buy a stroller and car seat without the carry cot for now. I know that you're not supposed to leave the baby in a car seat for more than 2 hours but after reading so many stories of babies who hate carry cots or hate being carried or hate sitting in the car seat, I'm becoming a bit reluctant to splash out on stuff that my baby may just refuse to stay calm in. Argh, bad enough we have to consider all these variables and buy stuff, but the real decision maker will be baby who arrives after we do all this agonising and probably upset everything.

Oh and tiptop hopefully you will get lots of help off your 11year old, and at the very least at least they are a bit more self sufficient by then I'm guessing hoping
