Hello ladies.. the previous thread is almost full so I thought it's time to move on to a new one to mark the start of trimester 2. Here's to fewer bouts of sickness and more "glowing" all around!

Well hello everyone, the last time i posted you guys were on page 8 now it is 21. Real life just does not allow me to experience the joys of MN. I am so looking foward to staying at home before the baby comes and sitting in front of my pc and doing nothing except MN (smile)
So sorry to those who are having problems with nausea, hope it will get better soon. I am doing much better, but i can't help myself when it comes to gassy fruits like apples. I love them too much to drop them.

Hope everyone is ok in spite of all this pregnancy thing..

Trinpy, your GP has no brains, your experiences are yours alone and she should have sympathised and kept her mouth shut.

CazInLondon · 17/10/2013 20:55

I've added you too Cannotbelieveit, thanks for adding me to the FB page :)

Trinpy · 17/10/2013 21:32

Thank you for the reassurance everyone. I don't feel so guilty for taking the pills now Smile .

I finally got the guts up to tell work today. Bit embarrassing - I took a patient up to theatre and passed out! Luckily the patient was already under general anesthetic by this point so remained blissfully unaware. But I had to lie on the floor next to the trolley while everyone else stepped over me Blush . I was then brought back to my ward in a wheelchair. Everyone had pretty much guessed by then so I just said 'yes actually I'm pregnant'. Such a relief to not have to pretend anymore!

stroller/pram/buggy advice...

many different things all do a similar job
if you have a car you'll need a car seat ( or gran has a car etc that baby will need to travel in)
for walking around town/shopping/local walks you'll need
a pram - if you're traditional... like them v protected.. not bothered about ease of manouvreability
(sp!)#
a system - more modern allows choice ie, you can use the car seat or a carry cot or a pushchair seat clicked onto the wheels - can be £££ but muchos freedom

a pushchair/ foldable 'unmrella' style stroller - will need to be suitable from birth - light, manouvreable, but possibly less sturdy/protected

the choice is yours

ChocChaffinch · 17/10/2013 21:41

extras - you will mos def need a raincover........... and march can be cold so a few blankets or if v cold, a cosy toe/footmuff thing
sometimes these are included with the buggy

in high summer some people buy a parasol but if you pick a buggy with a generous hood you prob won't need, or you can drape a blanket over the hood to keep baby in shade if sun is behind you at an angle

Vikkijayne2507 · 18/10/2013 00:19

me and oh had fun in toys r us abd other stores playing with different prams etc it was only way to really tell

LeeHandy · 18/10/2013 07:00

more decisions about prams, if you have narrow hallways width is important. some systems need the wheels taken off to fit them in the car.
where you will use it is critical. we have a gravel road to the station so stability is important along with good wheels that don't get jammed. unfortunately, that usually comes at the cost of weight. but we don't have step free access to the platform so the heavier it is, the more painful it will be to carry.

one travel system I read about seemed perfect till 3-4 people in a row said the wheels jam when pushing it over fallen leaves in autumn.

like choc said one hand folding is also useful but I haven't found a parent facing one that can be folded with one hand. if you are using a carrycot, then the car needs to accommodate the frame, carrycot and a car seat.

beetle, I think the fact that they are no longer interested is good news and means there is nothing to worry about. Grin

welcome eerie!

leehandy have you looked at the baby jogger city versa/versa gt?

lumpylumps · 18/10/2013 10:25

Hi, sorry to hijack your thread, I've popped over from the due March thread to give you a heads up on childcare vouchers. We've just realised that some of us will be out of pocket re mat pay because they're considered a salary sacrifice. Your mat pay is calculated on you average pay between weeks 17 and 25 so if you don't cancel you vouchers by then you'll be down on money if that makes sense?!

Sorry if you already know this or have been confused by me!!!

ChocChaffinch · 18/10/2013 12:30

good to know lumpylumps!! how are the Martians? when are you due? any pram advice? Grin

ChocChaffinch · 18/10/2013 12:31

is that weeks 17-25 before baby due ... or weeks pregnant?? will make a huge gigantic difference to me.... bum,.

catameringue · 18/10/2013 12:45

So if I was going to go to a shop to have a play with pushchairs, where's best to head to?

I hadn't considered half these points raised.

I hope other purchase decisions are easier.

bundaberg · 18/10/2013 12:47

where in the country are you?

for choice you really can't beat the original kiddicare warehouse in peterborough. the entire (mahooooosive) top floor is all pushchairs :-D

lumpylumps · 18/10/2013 12:50

17-25 weeks pregnant so there's still time!! I'm 20 weeks, due on 6th March so have managed to make a small difference. It actually covers 3 voucher payments so is pretty significant!!

Us Martians are all good thanks. Running through the 20 week scans so all pretty exciting. As for prams, I've got a 2nd hand Icandy peach. It's fab.

Hope you're all okay.

catameringue · 18/10/2013 13:50

I've never heard of that place before but looks good.
But what on earth is this crazy crap?
weird pram thing

bundaberg · 18/10/2013 14:05

haha yes I don't like the stokke pushchairs.
people who have them rave about them, but they are (imo) really plasticky for the price, and kind of ugly.

LightTripper · 18/10/2013 14:30

Well, I'm glad it includes a free foot if for you might end up feeling a little bit ripped off?!?!

I mean honestly, you could practically get a CAR* for that.

Shock

*disclaimer: have never bought a car, may have unrealistic idea of what a car costs...

LightTripper · 18/10/2013 14:31

Foot muff, not foot if (for some reason ipad won't accept foot muff as one word. Outrageous! Almost as if it's not a proper thing...)

ChocChaffinch · 18/10/2013 14:42

toys r us has pushchair play test areas, mothercare, dunno any more

nevergoogle · 18/10/2013 15:41

I finally have drugs to trial from tonight.

15+5

LightTripper · 18/10/2013 16:24

Oh good, I hope they work for you! What have you got?

nevergoogle · 18/10/2013 16:28

Avomine. If no good, then we'll try another on monday.

mamapants · 18/10/2013 17:41

Well I finally have a due date! Been for scan today. They forgot us and we had to wait ages! So lucky we didn't take DS but we did get the photos for free to make up for it.
Everything was good, very exciting. We have a very relaxed tranquil little bean, unlike his/her big brother who didn't stay still at all and still doesn't.
So due date based on LMP was 14th apr, but as I suspected it is a lot later than that, and actually due 1st of may.

Oh and pram was definitely the hardest purchase for me. And you are basing it on a lot of unknowns, like the carseat compatibility I thought I needed but then had a DS who hated the car so we used that function once and had to carry him instead.

LightTripper · 18/10/2013 18:50

Fingers crossed it works for you nevergoogle. Pregnancy Sickness Support site suggests it's a key component of the standard treatment in Canada, and the normal first line in the UK, so definitely sounds like a sensible place to start!
