Hello ladies.. the previous thread is almost full so I thought it's time to move on to a new one to mark the start of trimester 2. Here's to fewer bouts of sickness and more "glowing" all around!

Light I ordered the bugaboo cameleon. So hard to choose though, theres too many options!

Sorry to hear you're all feeling so sick. I thought we were all supposed to be feeling great by now?? I finally gave in today and went home from work after lunch. Hopefully I can get an appointment to see my gp tomorrow and pick up some anti-sickness medicine. Also saw mw today. I might have a uti but they need another sample to check. Joy. Grin

Oh no, misty, never ... I have my 20 year college reunion at 14+3 and really don't want to miss it, but I'll be totally useless if I feel like this! If it's just over by then I will be eternally grateful, that's the deal...

LightTripper · 15/10/2013 07:48

That looks really neat Trinpy! If you get a buggy with a bassinet, do you reckon you need a Moses basket too? Seems a bit mad to buy something specifically that may only get a few weeks use. I used to sleep in a drawer and I turned out OK (I tell myself...)

Or am I just being a cheap old moo?

LightTripper · 15/10/2013 07:49

Wendle, glad it's a move in the right direction, if not a complete cure.

Beetle, not at all. I actually think the nausea is by far the worst part. So relentless. The throwing up is obviously unpleasant but if I could just get rid of one or the other I would get rid of the nausea any day.

Obviously different for people with HG who can't keep anything down, but for me the nausea is by far the worst bit.

LightTripper · 15/10/2013 08:33

Interesting you get travel sick though. So do I, and apparently there is a strong link between travel sickness and pregnancy sickness, so we were always more likely to get it!

Trinpy · 15/10/2013 09:38

I didn't know there was a link between travel sickness and pregnancy sickness. I've always got travel sick so I suppose it was inevitable.

Bugaboo donkey looks great. I like that you can choose different colour packs.

I'm having a Moses basket but only because someones offered to lend me theirs. I quite liked the idea of a bedside cot for nighttime.

LightTripper · 15/10/2013 09:52

Well, of course now I go to check that and the evidence seems a bit mixed. But some studies have found it...

bundaberg · 15/10/2013 16:59

i didn't have a moses basket for any of my previous 3.

had a crib upstairs and then a cot (which we used side-car on the bed), and they slept in the pram downstairs (well, ds2 was mostly in the sling as he wouldn't be put down)

this time I'm planning on just using the cotbed and taking a side off and having it up against our bed again from the get-go so i don't have to buy a crib as well.
we got rid of all the baby stuff after DS3 as I didn't want any more babies haha

LightTripper · 15/10/2013 19:15

Oops! Well, at least this time you know what you actually need!

Cannotbelieveit · 15/10/2013 21:45

Hubby looked at the bugaboo donkey but we decided to stay with oyster as didn't like the foam handles on the bugaboo and also we felt it overpriced for what it is. The oyster max is £528 and we prefer it and I've loved our regular oyster.

12+3 Grin still felting sick tho

wendle70 · 15/10/2013 22:31

Ah i used to get travel sickness too! Interesting. Today has been bad..felt really sick all day at work and just come home to huge vom session. Feel so tired and i dont know whether you ladies do this but there are tears in my eyes from the exertion post vom. So feeling a tad fed up and emotional! I've planned the first social event i've had in my diary for ages meeting up with friends for lunch on Sat and now thinking I'll have to cancel. Got OH's mum's bday lunch tomorrow too and I'll struggle to make it through that but will have to try. Feel not far off having to take a sick day. It just is so ironic as someone else said that if we werent pregnant we would definitely be off sick feeling like this! Hope we all feel better soon...

LightTripper · 16/10/2013 07:48

Definitely! But you can't take 6 weeks off sick can you!? Horrible. My sis said when she was like this she used to have to stop for a cry between getting off the tube and getting into work. Mine is worse in the afternoons/evenings, but can definitely feel that way on the way home. :-(

I have a big college reunion in 10 days, so that is my big "deadline". Having had the chance to sound out more people now, end dates are anywhere between 12 and 16+ weeks, which is a bit depressing. I just hang on to the fact that it could end any day...

Was supposed to be going to the opening meeting of one of these networking"lean in" groups tonight. Feel terrible about it but will have to bail I think. Hope they don't kick me out if I miss the first one as it's supposed to last a year and would be really useful for work! But anyway, it is what it is.

LightTripper · 16/10/2013 07:50

Oh and yes, really stingy tears at the end of a vom session, totally with you. If I can get to the sink in time it's better as I can turn the tap on and run water over my face between heaves. Otherwise vile vile vile. Never had that before with normal tummy bug type sickness.

wendle70 · 16/10/2013 08:32

Urgh i have definitely regressed to last week's nadir of preg sickness. Could hardly sleep last night for nausea and this morning very sick. But yes it could end any day! I'm going to go and get the other more trusted anti sickness pills on Fri as i think knowing I have them might help somehow even if i hold off taking them.

Ha light i cant imagine doing any networking in this condition. I cant even stomach seeing my friends let alone business contacts. Although maybe talking about the sickness could be a good opener with the other mums in the group. Until you puked when it would be more of a lean away than a lean in!

catameringue · 16/10/2013 09:36

The only thing I have bought is a moses basket - less than a fiver off ebay so if it's rubbish I can flog it myself!

I cry a little after vomming because it's so unpleasant. I started gagging whilst driving the other day and that was horrible. Had to find a lay by and all I had was my jumper. Nice.

I'm confused by this whole buggy/pushchair thing. And I'm shocked at the cost of some of these. Ebay is full of them but the problem is I don't know what I'm looking for or what to avoid.

LightTripper · 16/10/2013 09:54

Cata, I find it sooo confusing. Some of these things are over 500 new! I had no idea. Will see what friends say, but at the moment very tempted to just get a sling and a car seat, and then see what else I need when baby is here!

Trinpy · 16/10/2013 11:04

When I spoke to my gp yesterday she said most women stop having morning sickness by 17 weeks, so still a little way to go yet!

I found going on mumsnet pram reviews really helpful to work out what's good and what's not.

LightTripper · 16/10/2013 11:16

Did she give you something for it Trinpy, or are you going to try to manage without? Feel sad you still have it at nearly 16, that's a long time to cope! But you must be nearly there now xx

Oh no Beetle, sounds stressful. Though great news the twins seem fine and good news that the bleeding is from outside I guess - could just be a polyp or something? Do you know how long you will have to wait for the results?

You probably just need to catch a cold now, or break down in the car somewhere...

Sorry, not funny I realise. It does just sometimes feel like all the shitty stuff happens at once. I really hope nature has done with flinging hard stuff at you and it's down hill from here!

Hope the Consultant is reassuring. Is it worth actually trying to get properly horizontal inbetween i.e. in bed? Sometimes that seems to help me when the nausea is really horrible.

Trinpy · 16/10/2013 17:08

Sorry to hear you've had to go through all of that beetle. Really good news though that the twins are still ok and cervix is closed. Hope theres some very ordinary, completely healthy explanation for the bleeding.

Light - Yes, she did prescribe me something but said she doesn't like prescribing them for pregnant women unless absolutely necessary, because no one knows for sure how safe they are. She said I could have them because I looked like death (thanks for that!), but with the promise that I would only take them on days when I really couldn't cope. She also helpfully told me that she managed to cope with sickness through both her pregnancies, which made me feel a bit rubbish, like I was giving in too easily Sad .
