Hello ladies.. the previous thread is almost full so I thought it's time to move on to a new one to mark the start of trimester 2. Here's to fewer bouts of sickness and more "glowing" all around!

OP posts:

sorry to hear that ness thinking of you Thanks

mamapants · 12/10/2013 18:42

Sorry to hear Nessa and Geraniums sad news. Hope you find out more soon.

I finally have a date for a scan, it will be this coming friday. So will finally have a due date and hopefully everything will be ok. I was so nervous with DS scan, was shaking. Will probably be the same this time. My letter told me I'm not allowed to bring DS. Seems a bit unfair and will have to pay childminder to have him. Oh well.

CazInLondon · 12/10/2013 21:53

That's so rubbish, mamapants - I didn't know some places didn't allow you to bring your DC in. I just rocked up with DS and went in without asking if it was okay, oops!

Great that you finally have your scan date though, roll on Friday!

xx

bundaberg · 12/10/2013 22:29

we aren't allowed to bring children either,

partly in case they make a fuss and they then can't do the scan properly, and partly in case you get bad news

BeansAndCheese · 13/10/2013 08:06

Maybe not a bad thing if you can get child care. We had to take dd with us, but she caused something of a disturbance. She got very distressed by the small dark room and had an enormous paddy when taken outside. Very cute when brought back in, scrambled on the bed next to me and stroked my face. Ideally would not take her next time.

CazInLondon · 13/10/2013 09:25

Fair enough, I was looking at it more from the point of view of someone who can't get childcare in the middle of the day. I tried to see if anyone was able to look after my 11 months old for a couple of hours but all my friends were busy or working!

If he was older and able to grasp the situation, the possibility if him hearing bad news alongside me would be a worry indeed...

Hello all! Spent yesterday telling family. They were surprised but happy for us!! Going to tell our closest friends today. More nervous about that to be honest, as we have always been part of quite a tight knit little group of child free friends who go on holiday together etc. There are only a handful of us left and I think it will be a bit of a shock and although they'll be happy for us it isn't probably going to be a welcome change. Biological clocks, life choices and all that. This stuff is hard.

Anyway, family calls were lovely. My sister was brilliant. She must have mixed feelings because of her mmc last year and a bunch of other stuff going on, but she just did really excited auntie jumping up and down noises. She is so lovely, I feel so lucky.

Turns out she had very similar nausea to me with her mmc, as did my Mum with all 3 pregnancies (two dc and one mc), so not that surprising that I have it I guess. My Mum felt really good in second trimester though, so just hanging on for that. It's just so nice that they know! It has really felt like sneaking around. Really want my besties to know too and then no more secrets.

Hope you are all having good weekends!

Trinpy · 13/10/2013 19:27

It's lovely being able to be tell everyone, isn't it? Glad your sister was so excited Light, the mmc must have been really tough for her.

I accidentally bought a pram yesterday Blush . Really didn't mean to buy anything much until after 20 week scan, but I couldn't help myself! Luckily dh was happy with my impulse buy!

I have my 16 week mw appointment tomorrow because my mw is away on holiday next week. I can't believe I've got this far. It's gone by so quickly.

15+2

bundaberg · 13/10/2013 20:07

we told the children yesterday, so that they could break the news to my parents. Cos I was too scared to tell them myself pmsl
i knew my mum's reaction would be along the lines of "omg, what have you done that for"... so getting the kids to tell her meant she had to be happy for us Grin

there is something very wrong about being in your thirties and being scared to tell your parents you're pregnant lol. DP still hasn't told his

LightTripper · 13/10/2013 20:44

I know!! I am almost 40 for Goodness sake!! Funny really.

Anyway, have now told two of the three friends we were going to tell, and has also gone OK. Think they were probably more shocked than our parents even, but were pleased for us too, and I hope we put their minds at rest we are going to do our best to be the same people and not disappear into parent-land completely!

Feels so good to have it out there. Didn't realise how worried I had been until I wasn't worried any more!

Congrats on the pram purchase trinpy! What did you go for? My OH is aching to get going on the decoration we need to do before baby arrives, but I'm holding off until the nausea dies down!

wendle70 · 13/10/2013 21:05

Hi ladies glad news went well. We told OH's mum this weekend and she was pleased though shocked and certainly a lot to take in! Haven't told OH's kids yet..need to find the right way/maybe take advice.

Just thought I'd post as light my pregnancy sickness has subsided this weekend. Not gone completely but havent been sick and 60 pc at least improvement. On the exact day I turned 12 weeks! Of course it may come back next week but has been lovely to feel a bit more like me..hope all yours improve soon too..

Now just counting down days to scan on Friday...

bundaberg · 13/10/2013 21:34

i did a facebook reveal lol, means that pretty much everyone i know now knows, so no more announcing

LightTripper · 14/10/2013 07:13

Thanks Wendle! Another one alighting the nausea train, yay!

catameringue · 14/10/2013 09:00

My n and v is easing off, still challenging after about 5pm. Tiredness is still here to stay.

Starting to eat normal food again but only things like soup etc.

I've ordered a maternity dress as I've got a couple of smart do's coming up over the winter. I hope it won't look like a sack. My normal dresses are tight on the tummy so I wouldn't fit them now.

prettyinpink90 · 14/10/2013 13:38

Afternoon ladies, hoping you can advise me as I'm freaking out a little bit. For the past couple is days I've had a tender patch to the left of my belly button. It's not causing me any pain but if I lean on it or touch it, it's quite tender. I put it down to my muscles stretching but now today I have yellow discharge (sorry tmi!!!). Is this normal or should I give the midwife a call?

cata great that your sickness is lifting a bit too!

PiP I don't suppose it is anything to worry about! but probably worth a call to the midwife to be sure? Speaking to mine today she seemed to think if it didn't smell of fish (blech!) it was OK.

Beetle welcome back! Twins must be exciting! I'm sure there's lots of time or them to untangle themselves. Stupid question, but if they are identical does that mean they are in the same sac, or do they have one each? My cousins are identical twins. Always had a lot of fun pretending to be each other at school!

Presumably you're suffering Beetle? I read that twins make it even worse... But hopefully done with all that soon!

nevergoogle · 14/10/2013 19:24

Nausea ongoing here. And now have a cold on top.

Just burst into tears this morning. I'm so fed up and exhausted with feeling ill. I'm so bored of this laying on the sofa and achieving nothing.

Working full time while feeling grim is exhausting.

LightTripper · 14/10/2013 19:38

Snap nevergoogle! Woke up at 3.45 with sore throat and all bunged up. Joy. On the bright side I now can't smell some of the things that make me queasy, so that's something! Annoying not to be able to take too much for it though. I guess hot lemon and honey is Ok?

I'm lucky work is not too busy at the moment. If it was I would be in big trouble.

Going to bed soon in the hope that sleep will cure all ills. OH away for work this week, so I am having to do my own fetching and carrying :-(

How far along are you though? There is a really good chance that one morning pretty soon we wake up feeling fab!

nevergoogle · 14/10/2013 19:51

14+1.(am losing patience)

I'm taking paracetamol and using my inhaler loads.

Just retched watching you've been framed with the kids.

Misty9 · 14/10/2013 20:25

I'm sick of feeling crap too :( 14+3 here and no sign of it letting up as everyone keeps bloody telling me it will
Not too bad until 3pm then it's all downhill and feeling nauseous and heartburn-y for the afternoon and evening. That foul taste in the mouth is hideous!

Excuse moaning, had crap day at work too and came home to tantrumming toddler... And I don't fit in any of my clothes so had to do trolley dash on newlook maternity online.

Rant over.

wendle70 · 14/10/2013 22:03

Just a quick post in case you thought I got away lightly on the nausea... Was def worse today (12+2) than on Miracle Saturday when i felt brilliant. Fairly nauseous for large chunks of the day but still holding off on vomming. So still an improvement on last week. Hoping you all feel better soon. Keep us posted. I can't wait to fancy food again and not feel sick!
