Hello ladies.. the previous thread is almost full so I thought it's time to move on to a new one to mark the start of trimester 2. Here's to fewer bouts of sickness and more "glowing" all around!

welcome spring, we have the same due date! is this your first?

sorry you have had worrying scans geranium and cata! I hope things turn out ok in the next scan. I googled a bit on high nuchal measurements and it seems like quite a few people who had it in early scans saw the measurements reduce a couple of weeks later. that's probably why they define a narrow window of between 12 and 13+6 weeks to do it.

Vikki if you are stressed about baby moving, have you thought about getting a Doppler. I think it's the best 20 pounds I spent recently. whenever I start to worry, I just listen to baby's heartbeat and it's very reassuring to hear the little thing beating away.

I have not had any exercise at all. Shock My foot is still hurting from my fall two weeks ago and I am now wondering if I cracked a bone. I probably should have it checked out soon.

I have a small bump now, not big enough to be obvious but just enough to look like I have been eating too much dessert lately. Blush Which I probably have.Blush Blush Blush

Welcome newbies! Nice to have you here.

Possibly feeling a bit less sick (still haven't been sick), still feeling starving all the time!

Scan on Friday so we are looking forward to that Grin hope all is still well with baby!

Dare I say it but time seems to be going a bit quicker.

11w today Grin

daftgeranium · 05/10/2013 10:23

Good luck with that catameringue - it's a long time to wait! PM me if you want to talk it through, sometimes it helps when people are in the same boat.

BindiBarbarella · 05/10/2013 18:22

Sending you good luck vibes cata :)

I had little to no nausea for almost a week and then it came back with a vengeance on Thursday. I have treated today like the Sabbath and literally done nothing!!

Hope you ladies are all having nice weekends :) xxx

LightTripper · 06/10/2013 07:55

Is good nobody tells you this stuff before you get pregnant the first time, or I probably wouldn't be on this thread now!! Blush

Misty9 · 06/10/2013 08:02

Yep, horrible leg cramp all last evening and night :(
Anyone else feeling utterly wiped out? I can do short bursts of activity then I feel dizzy, sick and breathless and have to sit down for a while! Not sure how work will go tomorrow..

13+2

LightTripper · 06/10/2013 09:11

Yup...

I thought it would be a few decades from now before going to bed and brushing my teeth would need to become two distinct activities, with a nice lie down to catch my breath inbetween.

Nessalina · 06/10/2013 09:44

Ha! Yes, me & the toothbrush are arch enemies these days, I eye it suspiciously on entering the bathroom - damn thing always makes me want to vom! 11 + 4 today and full of cold, bleurgh! Staying over at a friends house and its damn freezing! We've had our heating on for nearly a month now Blush I'm such a weed.

Vikkijayne2507 · 06/10/2013 10:49

LightTripper · 06/10/2013 11:57

I have spent some of this morning reading about the stresses of trying to get an epidural... Getting ahead of myself much?!?! I'm not even 12 weeks. I am going to be a total nightmare!

In my defence, the main reason for this was catching up on the work I've got behind with this week. I worked out at the moment if I work absolutely full whack I can do 40 hours work. Normally that max is about 70. So the constant eating/nausea/tiredness is stealing about 30 hours a week. Am in AWE of people who do this with kids already (although my clients sometimes behave like small children, I can just refuse to look at email for an hour if I need a break... Apparently toddlers do not have a "pause" button...)

nevergoogle · 06/10/2013 15:53

i am so bored of feeling lethargic and nauseated now.
i want to feel human again.

Misty9 · 06/10/2013 19:26

With you there neverGoogle and I bet my husband is sick of me feeling like this too!

Toddlers def don't have a pause button.. currently stood outside my toddler's bedroom waiting for him to sleep. Taking my mind off nausea and heartburn at least

Discovered today that antacids like tums which I've been popping like sweeties can hinder the body's absorption of iron. Bugger. Been getting symptoms of anaemia so better lay off tums and get eating iron rich foods. Beef and broccoli stir fry anyone? :)

LeeHandy · 06/10/2013 20:39

Light, I was stressed about trying to get an epidural before I knew I was pregnant.. Hmm I am convinced that the only way I can get one is if I pay for it.
DH and I have spent the weekend researching prams. First we needed to read a guide to understand the difference between prams, pushchairs, buggys, strollers and travel systems! We tried out the bugaboo chameleon with our niece today and were very impressed with it until we realised that it can only be used until the baby is 10 kg and the average weight of a 1 year old baby is 10 kg. So people spend 800 pounds on something they use for a year or less? Shock We are now wondering if we can get away with a baby carrier like bjorn or ergo for 7-8 months and then move straight to a stroller, but need to do some more research on this.

OP posts:
Misty9 · 06/10/2013 21:04

lee I know it's scary how much these things cost! And yes, most people will only use it for the first year, if that. I'd say you'll find a baby bjorn hurts your back after a couple of months, due to the weight of the baby pulling it forwards. An ergo will probably be easier on you, but bear in mind the personality of your baby - we bought a moby and later a bloody beautiful but expensive rose and rebellion carrier, but ds HATED being carried and they were rarely used. I'm hoping we'll get some use out of the R&R with this one!

As for pushchairs, we got the mamas and papas glide, which is basically the same as the sola but with a carrycot included. We've been pretty happy with it and intend to use it for dc2, having used a cheap stroller for ds since he was 18mo or so. It was £350 for the package iirc.

prettyinpink90 · 07/10/2013 07:56

Morning ladies!

I have my 12 week scan this morning. Woke up excited but equally sick with nerves.

12+1 (if my dates don't change)

LightTripper · 07/10/2013 08:46

Ooh! Hope it goes well. Everything crossed for you.

Have just realised my Panorama test comes back this week, and the 12 week scan on Friday. So a big week coming up!

bundaberg · 07/10/2013 09:20

misty i was going to suggest anaemia from your symptoms but see you've already thought of that :-D

leehardy fairly sure the bugaboo cam goes up to 17kg in the main seat... it might have been the carrycot that's 10kg?

with regards to epidurals... don't worry about it too much! easier said than done, I know. But you might not end up even wanting/needing one once you're in labour.
I had one with my first and it wasn't an issue. In fact I had 2 cos the first one didn't work, but I didn't have to fight for it at all, they just did it. In hindsight I wish I hadn't had it for various reasons, although I do know people who had them and loved them
I guess what i'm saying is don't get too hung up on one kind of pain relief, aside from anything else you don't need the stress and worry this early on lol
I had my second and third babies at home, so no pain relief at all and they were honestly much nicer experiences and actually easier because I could feel what was happening and when to push, which I couldn't with the epidural.

LightTripper · 07/10/2013 09:45

Thanks bunda! I am not always very good at just taking things as they come, but this is a skill I need to learn for my own sanity!

Just had a call from my Panorama test clinic. Only had it a week ago on Friday, so didn't think it could possibly come back this soon, but it has and we are low risk on everything, which was a huge relief! Wasn't sure they would bother to call with positive results, so when the phone went I was bracing for sad news. The gender is also in the report, but asked her not to tell me on the phone so I can find out with OH when he's home from work tonight.

So excited, between that and the nausea I don't know how I'm going to get any work done at all today!! Now also in two minds about whether to tell at least my parents and sis before second scan on Friday. My Dad has his final exam for his degree today, so was going to phone them tonight anyway... Not sure I can keep this to myself any longer now!!

11+5 and not moaning for once....

bundaberg · 07/10/2013 12:49

lighttripper, neither am i, but i;m good at telling other people to lol!
in fact, i'm awful at over-analysing and over-thinking things but I KNOW only too well the anxiety that then comes with it

what a relief to get your results back though, and to know you'll find out the gender later! will you let us know or are you keeping it to yourselves??

LightTripper · 07/10/2013 12:53

Oh no - I'll let you know (whether you want to or not Grin)!

spicynaknik · 07/10/2013 13:32

First posting on this thread - am due 11th April I think.

Just at that stage where I don't feel really nauseous and don't feel that I have to crawl into bed at 7pm...and instead I am now worrying whether the lack of symptoms means there is a problem.

This is DC2 for me.

Wendell do you mind me asking if that was the FMC in London? I had the Harmony test there a couple of weeks ago and was told that no, it wasn't possible to find out the baby's sex. However I have noticed a couple of posts where people have mentioned the £10 extra charge to find out so I am bit Confused.

LightTripper · 07/10/2013 13:48

Hello! Welcome to the thread. Really glad to hear that "normal" life may only be a couple of weeks away!! One of my colleagues told me she woke up at 12 weeks exactly feeling fine ... that is only 2 days away, so am on tenterhooks!

I know the question re: gender testing was for Wendell, but thought I would share as much as I know from the Panorama experience. I think it must be TECHNICALLY possible with any of these tests, but get the impression that it hasn't been offered until recently in practice. I went to the Birth Company (upstairs from FMC), and they asked if we wanted to know or not. With them (at least for Panorama, but I think also for Harmony) there isn't any extra charge to find out the gender, but you do have to specifically ask them to do it - I think I've read that at some places there is a small extra charge too.

Maybe it just depends on the policy of the clinic ... if FMC have found a lot of people not wanting girls, maybe they choose not to offer it even if it is theoretically available?
