Hello ladies.. the previous thread is almost full so I thought it's time to move on to a new one to mark the start of trimester 2. Here's to fewer bouts of sickness and more "glowing" all around!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Crazycranberry so sorry to hear that. Thoughts are with you i cant imagine how hard that is xx

On the due date and finding out sex issue
Bunda i am due 26 april
..and I am going to find out the sex. Reckon there are enough surprises for me at birth being a first time mum!
I actually did the harmony test today at fmc. As part of the down's blood test package you also get a scan (saw it moving, heard heartbeat and saw fingers and toes!) had a a giggle when we saw what looked like HUGE pinochio nose (was hand in front of face!) As part of that test you can find out for an extra £10 from a blood test what sex it is.

They tried to tell me though not to have the nhs 12 week scan because there was no point as the same team at fmc are at my hospital (uch) and because the nhs less accurate down's test might be different and that would confuse things. In 2 minds..surely the more tests the better?

Now have seen it move, feeling doubly guilty about lack of nutrition...tried to eat a proper lunch today but it just came right up. Bleurgh. So it's ryvitas and fruit and the odd sandwich for the foreseeable!

Good luck with scans ladies xx

Ps anyone else struggling with the exercise guidelines? Exactly how i am supposed to be exercising when all day is spent trying not to puke i don't know..!

LightTripper · 03/10/2013 18:53

I have done Panorama (like Harmony) but am going to do NHS 12 week again. Mainly just to check everything is still ok! I think Downs wise I will be relaxed about ignoring quadruple test odds and focusing on the Panorama, so I don't see a downside. Plus it's my first chance to have a look at Homerton!

Re exercise. Big fat zero. It's as much as I can do to get to and from the bus stop. Bad as I can already feel my back starting to give up. I'm just going to have to try to catch up on health and nutrition when the sickness is over!

ChocChaffinch · 03/10/2013 20:08

zero exercise here. cant even walk fast.
listen to your body don't force it is my mindset.

Vikkijayne2507 · 03/10/2013 22:23

hi pear tree welcome. I got a letter from hospital with low risk for downs syndrome so thats good

BeansAndCheese · 04/10/2013 07:12

I have carried on spinning 3 times a week. It did it before, and have been tired more than sick so it helps a bit. You can try and get back into exercise when you feel up to it. Walking is great if you dont feel up to anything else

LightTripper · 04/10/2013 07:40

Great news VikkiJayne!

catameringue · 04/10/2013 09:00

No exercise at this end either!

11+2

ChocChaffinch · 04/10/2013 11:49

names names names. Everything I love dh hates, and vice versa.

bundaberg · 04/10/2013 12:46

yay just got my scan appointment through!

friday the 11th.
it says I MUST bring my pregnancy notes... only I can't because my booking appt isn't til the 15th Hmm

ho hum

LightTripper · 04/10/2013 12:57

Ha! Same for me Bunda ... Scan on 11th, booking on 14th! It can't matter that much if they book it that way.

learnasyougo · 04/10/2013 13:00

Re exercise, stationary bike is a good one, because you can do it no matter how big your bump. I was cycling everywhere (including to work and to my NCT classes and midwife appointments until 40 weeks. It was a darn sight more comfortable than walking! Even when I had SPD I could cycle to work just fine, then only hobble to my desk.

springfling · 04/10/2013 13:13

Hi everyone, I am 14 + 4, due date is 31st March. But, I have been following this thread for ages, waiting till after my scan to join. My dating scan pushed me forward into March but I want to stay here! Would prefer to be at the front of the pack than behind... Hope that is ok!

LightTripper · 04/10/2013 14:26

You're very welcome springfling! And congrats on the good scan. Funny, I am the opposite - due late April, but quite glad to be at the back of the pack to get some warning for what's coming! Shock

bundaberg · 04/10/2013 16:44

i feel like it's really real now I have scan date and have seen the midwife.

had a real omfg what have we done, moment with DP last night lol

daftgeranium · 04/10/2013 18:40

Cranberry and cookie, thinking of you, so sorry to hear your news.

We had scan yesterday at what we thought was 12+1, turned out to be just under 11, and nuchal measurement 6mm. told this was very high risk. They refused to do bloods because baby is too little - going back next Wednesday. we are besides ourselves with worry, it's all really horrible, unreal like a bad dream.... :(

Nessalina · 04/10/2013 19:32

Sorry to hear that Geranium, must be really stressful Sad If you're only 11 weeks measured are you in the right range for the NT test?
I've had two days of appetite returning and feeling rather good, then the sickness has returned today with a vengeance! Hmm In a silly way I'm a bit relieved, I've been worrying no end about the 12 week scan (next Fri) just because of other's bad experiences so sickness sort of makes me feel like all is ok! Why I can't focus on all the good scan news I have no idea!!
Re: the lack of peeing, I've not been going any more than usual all the way through, but I think early stages I wasn't drinking much coz sicky, and now I'm drinking more I guess the pressure might be off the bladder now? So hard to get enough liquid. And exercise? Are you having a laugh?! Wink

bundaberg · 04/10/2013 20:27

oh geranium that must be so worrying for you :(

BindiBarbarella · 04/10/2013 20:32

Hope everything turns out OK for you Geranium thinking of you :( xxx

prettyinpink90 · 04/10/2013 20:33

Sorry to hear you're having a stressful time geranium sending hugs your way!
ness I'm also really nervous about my 12 week scan which is on Monday. We saw a little baby with a strong heartbeat at 8+6 but after reading all the sad news I can't help but feel anxious. Fingers crossed for happy healthy babies at our 12 week scans!

Misty9 · 04/10/2013 20:49

Hi all. Geranium, sorry to hear about your worrying news, hopefully everything will be okay and it might have been too early for an accurate measurement?

Had scan today and saw it kicking around :)doing sort of hiccups every now and again. Moved forward one day so 2nd trimester today! still feeling rubbish with nausea and heartburn and worse last couple days, but probably due to tiredness and stress of moving house.

Weekend here we come!

daftgeranium · 04/10/2013 21:17

Thank you all, it really helps.

Nessalina - don't worry re scan because of bad news stories - I read somewhere that only 1% of scans have abnormal results - hope yours is good! :)

Vikkijayne2507 · 04/10/2013 21:47

hope it's all ok geranium. scans are worrying I had mine and now next not till November I think I'll be worried until I feel baby move

LightTripper · 04/10/2013 22:20

So sorry the scan was worrying Geranium (great name by the way... And geraniums are hardy you know, especially daft ones). Sending hugs and keeping everything crossed that your bean is just a few days behind! Roll on Wednesday. Waiting is horrible.

Glad your scan went well Misty and that the move is all done. I'm exhausted enough getting through the day, can't imagine moving house like this. Very inspiring!

catameringue · 04/10/2013 23:08

Sorry geranium you had a shock at the scan.

My early scan indicated raised concern, and now I have to wait til 21st for further scan.

At first we felt quite worried but I'm just going to see which way the dice land and accept I have no control over the situation.
