Hello ladies.. the previous thread is almost full so I thought it's time to move on to a new one to mark the start of trimester 2. Here's to fewer bouts of sickness and more "glowing" all around!

Penguin, haven't done a link before, but see if this works!

Back to vom today after a couple of better ones sigh

Everybody at work now seems to know, which is a bit weird given I've not told anybody in real life yet ... But given I've been working from home so much and my boss is not famed for discretion not all that surprising. One good outcome was I had a lovely chat with a colleague with two kids who sounds like she had exactly the same sickness as me, and she cheered me up by saying (a) hers improved completely at 12 weeks, and (b) she found it by far the worst bit of pregnancy, much worse than even right at the end, so she reckons it should be downhill from here ( or from soon)!

So, hanging on in there...

Had a midwife appt today. Was a bit of a non event really. DS who is normally completely happy and cheery all the time was very upset by the whole thing and crying even with the big box of toys the midwife brought for him to play with.
She didn't manage to get any blood so have to go into hospital tomorrow to try again, have very fine veins and low blood pressure so hopefully they'll manage tomorrow.
No luck getting heartbeat which even though isn't something to worry about am worrying all the same.
Still haven't had scan date! So she's going to chase that up.

Trinpy · 01/10/2013 23:46

Light I hope this really is the hardest part of the pregnancy - for all of us! It's amazing how something so small can affect your body so much! Glad your colleagues are being supportive. I chickened out of telling my boss after the 12 week scan and now she's off work for 3 weeks, so I'll be at least 16 weeks before work know.

mama how many weeks are you? A lot of midwives won't even listen for the heartbeat before 16 weeks because it's so hard to find early on, it just makes people worry. Hopefully you'll get your scan arranged soon and actually see the heart beating Smile .

Nessalina · 02/10/2013 07:26

After feeling hugely sick over the last few weeks I seem to have got my appetite back in spectacular fashion - absolutely ravenous! Woke up at 6am with tummy rumbling Hmm
In other news I'm still not peeing any more than I usually would which is a bit of a worry - anyone else not noticed more urge to wee?!

LightTripper · 02/10/2013 07:50

Hi Nessalina. I don't think I am either. I did a bit right at the start, after my positive test, but not so much since being sick. My tum has been very loose too, so suspect I am losing some fluids that way.

BeansAndCheese · 02/10/2013 08:34

nessalina the uterus starts to lift up as you get towards 12 weeks, so the urge to pee more gets better. It will be back with a vengeance towards the end. Actually with my DD I was peeing all the time. But this time I've not been so bad. Probably means I'm not drinking enough

BeansAndCheese · 02/10/2013 08:36

Also if you've been really sick you're probably just slightly dehydrated.

mamapants · 02/10/2013 11:22

Hi trinpy am at most 12 weeks and know its nothing to worry about, and she didn't try for long as DS was getting upset. Heard DS hb at 11weeks which was lovely and its so nice and reassuring.
Would be nice to have a scan date to look forward to! Instead just get to go to hospital for them to try and get blood samples.

catameringue · 02/10/2013 13:14

Hi all,

Had an early scan today.
The little bean was there flinging it's arms and legs about. Hb was normal.
Sadly, though it's officially 4 days too early for NT scan, they measured 3.1mm of fluid.

Dh and I are of the opinion that unless there is a major medical problem then we carry on. But now we are left feeling sad and worried. I wish they hadn't told me.

Cannotbelieveit · 02/10/2013 14:17

Under 3.5mm is classed as fine cat xx

LightTripper · 02/10/2013 18:02

Plus I think at this stage it can still go down, no? How long do you have to wait for your 12 week scan? I know it's worrying though xx

LightTripper · 02/10/2013 18:06

This is the story I was thinking of. This lady's was higher than yours, but then went down, and then cvs came through clear too...

Crazy So very sorry to hear your news :( Take care of yourself. Thinking of you :( :( xxx

catameringue · 02/10/2013 20:37

Thanks for the link to that thread.
The Internet hasn't been helpful in telling me whether it goes up or down.

I'm 10+6 and I have to phone for a scan from 11w.

LightTripper · 02/10/2013 21:01

Fingers crossed you don't have a long wait!

ChocChaffinch · 03/10/2013 09:24

will we be summoned for a flu shot or do we need to request?

ThedementedPenguin · 03/10/2013 10:13

choc it depends on your clinic. I've already received my fly jab appointment. However I know some people had to ring up and book theres.

ChocChaffinch · 03/10/2013 10:14

I'll ask today when I pop in for my repeat

PeartreePeanut1 · 03/10/2013 11:48

Hi Everyone!!! I have been everyone's posts...... congrats to you all.

This is my first pregnancy and it has come with a few difficulties already but it is worth it. Not sure it has sunk in yet tbh. I had kinda written it off after trying for two and half yrs with nothing....... but my peanut is there making me glouriously sick and uncomfortable lol.

Had my booking appointment yesterday and was a bit put off by the midwife's offhand attitude towards the fact that they have me on Clexane injections twice a day and no-one has been monitiring my blood levels. Has anyone else found the midwife/s to be this way? She then gave me all my paperwork loose and sent me on my merry way.

Apologies for my long essay!! my first scan is next friday which will make me 12+2 by then.

Cannotbelieveit · 03/10/2013 13:04

Welcome pear tree!

Congrats on your pregnancy first of all!

So far my midwives have been hit and miss tho the one at booking in was lovely as we'd met at a bf class and in hospital in march when DS was born.

Got my letter thru for consultant this morning 11th November 9am!!! Will be hard to get there with giving DS breakfast and bottle at 8am! Will have to make hubby take me and ask for all other appt to be afternoon x

prettyinpink90 · 03/10/2013 13:13

Welcome and congrats peartree Smile

ChocChaffinch · 03/10/2013 13:30

congratulations peartree my MW is like a cross old school marm
I'm a bit scared of her, she's very serious. I like my healthcare providers to be a bit silly. My consultant seems a bit silly, which is great.

CazInLondon · 03/10/2013 13:32

Welcome Peartree and congrats, you really deserve it after all this time!

Similarly to Cannot, my experience with midwives (from my previous pregnancy) have been mixed. Some are an absolute delight and will spend ages talking and reassuring you, others are like chain workers in a factory. Never be afraid to put your foot down if there is something you're not happy with, at the end of the day it's your body and your baby!

After a couple of days of feeling amazing and like my old self again, I'm back to being nauseous and crappy. I wish I could just crawl up in bed and hide under the duvet for the rest of the day...

Any ladies out there out of the first trimester nastiness yet? I'm trying to remember how wonderful it was to feel normal again but right now I need reminding, can't see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Though when I think about it, it's amazing how I'd forgotten about the 1st trimester fatigue etc. Nature is very clever. I mean, labour - if my memory serves me right, it just stung a little bit, right?! :D

Xx

LightTripper · 03/10/2013 16:25

Welcome peartree!
My booking in isn't for 10 days, so haven't even met a midwife yet. I'm hoping for the best but expecting grumpy!

Caz, I'm 11+1 and in the same boat as you. Had a good 24 hours at the weekend but now back to full on nausea and vomminess. I think mornings may be getting slightly better, but evenings even worse. I am really hoping it all just goes at 12 weeks on schedule and I'm not one go the unlucky ones! Maybe I'm just allergic to work?
