Hello ladies.. the previous thread is almost full so I thought it's time to move on to a new one to mark the start of trimester 2. Here's to fewer bouts of sickness and more "glowing" all around!

OP posts:

Re loss of symptoms, I read that it is supposed to get better as the placenta gets bigger and takes over. Saw my placenta today and looking quite big at 10+3, so that is making me all hopeful I might be joining the symptom free soon!

Panorama is basically a Downs test, yes. Done on a blood sample like Harmony. I just know my odds at 12 weeks won't be great because of my age, so wanted something more clear to guide me whether to risk amnio or not! Hopefully I'll have the results by about then. Only private at the moment sadly, as it's still really new, though I know people are talking about one of these blood tests being on the NHS in a couple of years, fingers crossed. There are various threads about Harmony on the Antenatal tests page.

Hi all! Can I join you?
I'm due on the 25th April 2014 with my 4th baby.

My youngest has just started school so enjoying being able to rest a bit in the day now.

Anyone else gone totally brain dead tho? I'm forgetting everything! So far this week I've forgotten a school meeting, 2 after school clubs, a dentist appt, two diff arrangements to pick stuff up off Facebook and a meeting with a friend!!!
Terrible

wendle70 · 27/09/2013 19:58

By the way if any of you are suffering with morning sickness still, I recommend the thread where's the weirdest place you've thrown up in with morning sickness! It was an editor's pick. It made me laugh out loud...places include a child's pumpkin full of sweets at Halloween, the wine aisle at waitrose, the hoody of a man in a wheelchair in front on the bus (!) and puking and then fainting into a bin in front of a drama class. Genius. I have been feeling sorry for myself puking in my bathroom - no more!

wendle70 · 27/09/2013 20:02

Hi Bundaberg...My brain has gone a little bit foggy but I think it's because I cannot think about anything but how sick I feel. As opposed to true memory loss. You can imagine how much fun I am in the evenings when my other half comes home. Him: How was your day? Me: Ok. I feel sick. How was yours? Oh hang on don't tell me..oooh I feel sick. Did I tell you I feel sick? Thank god he's so understanding..

LightTripper · 27/09/2013 20:12

Hello Wendle! Welcome to the thread. I am sorry you're feeling crap, but in a way relieved to hear I'm not the only one feeling guilty for being rubbish and moany! Can't wait to get back to normal. Having a weekend in Suffolk this weekend, so hoping the sea air does me some good!

LightTripper · 27/09/2013 20:18

Bundaberg... Yes!! Brain very foggy. Just about ok in the morning. Totally useless after 5pm.

BeansAndCheese · 27/09/2013 20:20

Hi all. I thought would join in here as I am expecting dc2. Had my scan on Tuesday. There was one happy little critter bouncing away on my enormous bladder. I already have a 21 mo dd. Haven't suffered too much with nausea etc(sorry). Feelin g pretty lucky so far. good luck everyone with up coming scans.

13+0 weeks

wendle70 · 27/09/2013 20:25

Ah enjoy Suffolk air Lighttripper...I am thinking of a trip there next weekend but worried it will be a waste if I am too sick and moany! Maybe another 7 days and it will start to recede...my other half was kindly talking plans for pampering weekend and then I realised massage was out, as was sauna, hot tub...so think some nice country Suffolk air might do the trick instead if I can survive the car trip (cars bring on sickness big time)!

bundaberg · 27/09/2013 20:46

haha glad it isn't just me! i swear I was fine until I had number 3, then I started to seriously lose brain cells. This one has just pushed me over the edge Hmm

Have got my first midwife appt on Monday because I kept forgetting to phone them (d'oh)... so prob going to have a frantic couple of weeks organising booking appt and 12 week scan. oops.

had an early scan at 7 weeks due to bleeding which is still ongoing, on and off. not much fun, but there was a healthy baby there so fingers crossed there still will be in a couple of weeks!

Hope the sickness eases off for those of you suffering badly from it. This is my least sicky pg so far. I'm feeling nauseous most of the day but not actually properly sick, just feel blah!
craving roast potatoes with gravy and mint sauce constantly :-/

learnasyougo · 27/09/2013 20:56

Bundaberg, can I ask, what's the origin of your MN name? I ask because I use the name bunda on another site and wonder if it's from the same linguistic origin.

LightTripper · 27/09/2013 21:01

I know, bit worried about the car! But bus to the scan was fine this afternoon, and we're heading off first thing. Usually mornings are my best time so fingers crossed we'll make it! Will let you know how the sea air goes.

bundaberg · 27/09/2013 21:01

i was drinking bundaberg root beer at the time Blush

Cannotbelieveit · 27/09/2013 21:18

Cannotbelieveit · 27/09/2013 21:20

Welcome to beans as well!! Grin

learnasyougo · 27/09/2013 21:27

Root beer? Haha, then no. In the language I was thinking of, bunda is the soft way of saying 'mother', you see.

LightTripper · 28/09/2013 07:17

P.S. Wendle, re veggies, I also can't manage much at the moment, am mainly living on porridge, toast and boiled potatoes, but have managed sweet stuff like sweetcorn and mange tout... Worth a try? Though apparently the baby should take what they need anyway, as long as you're getting folic from a supplement. Also banana seems fine. Grapes are good at the time, but I think make me more likely to throw up if I have too many...

BeansAndCheese · 28/09/2013 08:33

Anyone based in the northwest, Wirral cheshire and greater Manchester area and going with one to one. I am booked with them and had great service so far. Wondering what other peoples experiences are.

Chasingclouds · 28/09/2013 09:42

What's one to one beans? I am in the north west, nearish warrington.

Trinpy · 28/09/2013 10:25

hello and congratulations to wendle, bunder and beans.

Really pleased to hear the scans went well yesterday. It really is so different seeing the baby wriggling around than just seeing a picture. Made me well up both times!

I'm having a lazy day today and staying indoors where it's warm and dry Smile .

13+1

Trinpy · 28/09/2013 10:27

Sorry that should have been bunda - my brains going a bit foggy too...

prettyinpink90 · 28/09/2013 10:44

Hello fellow NW ladies beans and chasing, I'm in Preston Smile

BeansAndCheese · 28/09/2013 10:49

Its a private midwife service that's been employed by the NHS to take the strain off the NHS maternity services. I might be available in Warrington. It started as only Birkenhead but has expanded a lot. You get your own personal midwife to look after your case. They do all your appointments at home (helpful when you have to take your disruptive adorable toddler with you). I mainly went for because they facilitate home births which I would really like this time. You feel a bit like you are on a conveyor belt in hospital.

BeansAndCheese · 28/09/2013 10:55

www.onetoonemidwives.org if anyone is interested

Chasingclouds · 28/09/2013 11:58

Thanks so much for that beans , I hated it last pregnancy because I never had the same midwife twice and I definitely agree with the conveyor belt analogy, they can't wait to rush you out. I would love a home birth too but my first came at 35wks so I think I'm classed as being at risk of another premature birth (though I had a fast labour so if it's much faster second time round I might not even make it to hospital!) I will look into it later when my own little disruption is asleep!

Hiya prettyinpink90 it's a small world isn't it, you're only down the road really!

BeansAndCheese · 28/09/2013 12:45

If they are available in your area they might be more inclined to go with the flow, but I don't know what their guidelines are. I think a traditional independent midwife would probably just explain the risks, but leave the decisions to the mum.

I have been given more clarity from my current midwife about issues arriving from my dd birth. I had a SROM and was induced after 24 hours. Apparently the is hospital guidelines. NICE guidelines say 4 days with daily monitoring. I would have much preferred to be at home for as long as possible, rather than strapped to a monitor in hospital.
