Is anyone on here buying a breastfeeding shawl/poncho thing? I've seen this one on seraphine and quite like it, not sure how good they are though. Also quite like how she is wearing it, as it will cover up post baby extra pounds

Soupqueen · 19/09/2013 09:02

MrsH, I think my yoga breathing exercises will probably be used more when dealing with guests than when giving birth!

Today is a strange day. DH always works from home on a Thursday. This is the first time he'll have to cope with me being around/not working. Could be interesting! Typically, it's the only day this week I don't have plans so will be home all day.

PseudoBadger · 19/09/2013 09:04

You can get a Carry Cot for the car now :)

Flyer747 · 19/09/2013 09:05

I also like this jumper for breast feeding and think it maybe flattering on the figure too

MrsHoratioNelson · 19/09/2013 09:07

Bloody hell I thought our car seat was expensive Shock

Don't encourage MIL Pseudo Wink

Flyer747 · 19/09/2013 09:07

Haha Pseudo, mrsH you should show mil this, if she is so adamant baby should be flat then she can part with £200 and buy it you.

Hope you are feeling a little better this morning Jelly....a day of doing nothing for you by the sounds of things.

notsoold · 19/09/2013 09:31

Cherry..
Thanks for the info. You are right and we will wait until this lo comes and see how tired we will be. But I am already 42 and dh is 54 and time is ticking...:)

MrsH I will be the one doing the night shifts as dh doesn't cope with lack of sleep. He will sort our ds ( the most talkative teen ever :))

I have been sleeping in the nursery as I am full of a cold still. Very good exercise because I don't think the room is dark enough!!! Might need a blackout lining...:(
We installed the baby gate at the nursery's door( mainly for the dogs benefit). It was a good idea as the dog is freaked by it still.

After 36 weeks I will walk the dog beside de pushchair ( she is afraid of wheels)...oh fun :)

Need to buy nursing bras...

Soupqueen · 19/09/2013 09:34

notsoold, I'm thinking of getting one of these

www.boots.com/en/Gro-Anywhere-Blackout-Blind_1040498/

Handy if you might be using different rooms, visiting people.

Haylebop12 · 19/09/2013 09:35

Morning Ladies, sorry for my little ''me'' post last night, starting to feel sorry for myself now :( I know I shouldn't when so many of you ladies are struggling with so much more.

Good Luck today Tarlia will be thinking of you. I hope you have a speedy labour and you are cuddling your baby by this evening.

Orange I had my waters artificually broken too with dd. My labour probably would have progressed very slowly had it not been done. I got to 4cm before going in and they broke them around 6cm, I delivered within 1 1/2 hours of it happening.

flyer those brestfeeding tops are lovely but I for sure couldnt justify that price. Think I'll be looking at ebay Grin

I havent bought any formula, thinking now maybe I should but I didnt want the temptation there to give up when things get tough during the night when I cant stay awake! I think I might get a few cartons... hoping to express/mix feed anyway so maybe not a bad thing?

My carrycot can be used as a carseat, although I can see it would take up a lot of room. You have to buy extra straps for it and tbh I cant see it being as safe as a car seat that is closer round the body of the baby, iyswim?

Dh has decided to call in sick today so my pleaceful day is no longer... plus point being he did the school run so I'm still in my pyjamas!

MrsO27 · 19/09/2013 09:44

That shawl is nice flyer. I have some huge scarves that when opened out should give me enough coverage if I need to bf in public but the shawl might be more cosy. I'm not buying any bf stuff until I know it's working for us though, including a pump. This scares me a bit as I like to be prepared!

PseudoBadger · 19/09/2013 09:48

Thinking of you today Tarlia!

I have to go back for my second steroid today and then a consultant appointment at 4.20 to decide our plan of action.

notsoold · 19/09/2013 09:48

Rox.....sorry about Poppy....it is heartbreaking. I was brought up with animals and our animals are an extension of my identity ( does it make sense???)xxx

Regarding visitors it helps lo will be our third dc therefore friends are not as bothered. However the only person I am concerned is dsil as it doesn't matter how blunt I am she will try to do her own thing. She doesn't live far so overnight stay is not a problem, but she does expect one to sit and sip tea and to look presentable , and the dog washed and the house really really tidy etc....so not achievable!!! Need to think of a stronger phrase to use than " really don't come because it is bot a good time" ( used that but didn't work last time)...

PseudoBadger · 19/09/2013 09:50

Oh yes Rox I'm sorry about Poppy, sorry I didn't say so before xx

Pinkforboys · 19/09/2013 10:02

Wow ladies, it's taken me both breakfasts Blush to catch up with all your midnight chat!!
I'm so sorry so many of you are suffering such broken nights. I feel shattered after a 5am wake-up by the cat (followed by 2 hours of wriggling from DS on one side and Madam inside) which seems pathetic compared to your 3am wake ups.

ILs seem to create such problems. Makes me relieved mine are 9000 miles away and not likely to drop in uninvited. It's dawned on me tho that putting them up in the new year ain't going to be easy. We usually decamp Ds into our room and his room is used for guests with pull-out sofa, but that's not going to be so easy with moses/cot/no.2 in our room Confused Our house is going to be too small but we can't afford to size up in our area Sad

Hope all goes well today pseudo & tarlia

Pinkforboys · 19/09/2013 10:03

Oh and MoN Shock at your ex-MiL!

roofio87 · 19/09/2013 10:06

yeah they are good soup fortunately my mums and sisters (the only places we'll probs stay) are very child visiting friendly with black out blinds already in place!!
when my mum was little my grandad witnessed a bad crash abroad and the only reason they all surviver was because they had seatbelts on so he came home and fitted them himself in the family car, my mum used to get teaser about it by other kids!! seems so bizaare now. it is my biggest hate when I see kids in cars blatantly not strapped in, makes me sick!!
sorry to those who couldn't sleep. I had no periods of awakness last night which was amazing, think the stress of yesterday had warn me out. feeling fine about it all today. but at 37+6 I would like him out soon to know he's ok!!

Smitten1981 · 19/09/2013 10:18

Oooh, love both of those tops Flyer, I've been thinking this week that I don't have any easy access tops suitable for breastfeeding. I might stock up.

I'm going to get a couple of the Bravado vest tops too as they look like they could be a staple and the bra I got fits so well, so I hope the tops will too.

TheFalconsmistress · 19/09/2013 10:18

Having excruciating contraction every 6-7 mins really hope this comes to something really do hating being in pain :(

Smitten1981 · 19/09/2013 10:20

In other news I feel sick as a dog today, woke up at 6 feeling awful. Was going to call in sick, but I only have today and tomorrow left in the office and my MD has organised a leaving lunch for me today, so I couldn't really have a sick day.

Finishing at 4 though as we have a tour of the Birthing Centre tonight, eep. The closer it gets the more tempted I am to opt for a home birth.

MrsHoratioNelson · 19/09/2013 10:28

Oh Falcon that sounds, well not good exactly, but encouraging!

Haylebop12 · 19/09/2013 10:29

hoping this is it falcon!

Smitten1981 · 19/09/2013 10:31

Oops, x-post! Fingers crossed for you Falcon.

char1eston · 19/09/2013 10:33

soup - we have the gro anywhere blinds and they are great. Actually have one up permanently in DD's room as well as blackout curtains to try and limit early wake ups. They are pretty big too so fit most windows.

flyer - i can see that shawl really suiting you (knowing what you look like on fb!). I didn't have a bf shawl with DD, just used a muslin then nothing after you get used to getting your baps out (although i know not everyone will be like that).

I decided to treat myself to a new BF top from Frugi. It cost more than I would normally pay (most of my tops are from H&M) but it does look really nice.

Good luck today Tarlia - hope the induction does it's business and you have a lovely squidgy baby very soon.

Hope everything is ok with Roofio and Ruby.

Can't believe it's 10.30am already - where did the time go? At least I managed to catch up on a bit of sleep after being awake between 1 and 5 this morning.

claphammama · 19/09/2013 10:33

dear me... what's happened to this thread overnight??!!

SC here at 35+2 and had an OK night - probably because I hardly slept the previous two nights so just passed out from exhaustion rather than fell asleep last night

thinking of tarlia today xxx

and good luck with your appointment later pseudo

ruby sorry your OC got worse and sorry about your baby shower but at least you will have a lovely baby in your arms soon! so sorry but also slightly jealous Smile I would definitely finish work today if I were you, they must understand. Give yourself tomorrow to relax, do the last things and get mentally ready. The last day to yourself!

flyer I love both these wraps! may have to buy both of them... they look so glamorous on the models. Surely they will look even better on us right? Grin I also need to buy a couple more BF bras - have only one so far. I can't wait to be back in my normal clothes...

funkky so you are 39+1 today! I had my DS when I was 39+1 Smile

jelly hope you are feeling better now!

chickie glad things are better with your DH. My DP has the same guilt problems being far away from his mum - he is an only child and her eyesight is getting worse... so he gets generally stroppy and difficult when he feels guilty or frustrated. It took me a while to figure out how he works and what triggers it

Talking about MILs - mine is actually lovely and really fond of me and she adores DS who is not DP's biological son. DP is her only child and he sold his house in Cheltenham where he was going most weekends to see her and his friends to buy this house. We now visit her only every 2 months or so and I thought she would resent me but she doesn't. She is just happy he is happy and she is ecstatic about the baby. So I guess it depends on the person... and my own super difficult family compensate for this enough so I get my share of grief from them instead!

char1eston · 19/09/2013 10:34

Ooh, good luck Falcon x
