roofio hope baba is okay ((hugs))

tarlia hope your bp setttles

clapham that's extortion :o

I tried the rear entry dtd but we are both too unfit lol 6 years married and comfy positions are our staple, we ended up in a heap on the floor in hysterics so it cheered me up :)

BowlFullofJelly · 18/09/2013 14:13

Haha falcon, was thinking last night that i dont think me and dp would manage that - even if i wasnt pregnant.

Woke up with a bit of a cold today. Im supposed to be going out to see a friend who is over from Paris, but rerally cant be arsed. Will see how i feel later.

Im defintley going to pack hospital bag today - remind me ladies, what do i need Blush.

In very exciting news, got on the scales this morning and having stayed at 2 stone gain since 30 weeks, i have actually lost 4lbs in the last couple of weeks. Bump is measuring big so not worried about bubba - does go to show how much more exercise i am getting running around after ds ( who is currentky mounting me and licking me pretending to be a dog).

Its so lovely to hear how you are getting on legally. How is your dd coping with the twins?

PseudoBadger · 18/09/2013 14:17

Waiting to be discharged, hand too sore to write much.... Will update from iPad later....

that's London for you ladies... and that's why I do my own colour! I wouldn't dare to bleach it myself and I don't have highlights, just straightforward chocolate brown colour. So it's very easy and to be honest I'm getting equally good results myself. Cut colour and blow dry on my long hair would be about 150-170 pounds here and I think it's bonkers. DP gets annoyed with me (I think he is scared of home dyes) but he can't tell the difference between the salon job and my own £12 job! Grin

A random question for ladies with boys... DS goes through at least one pair of trousers per week, at least... is it normal for them to come back from school with holes on their knees almost every freaking single day...??!! Or is it just mine? I end up throwing them away as the holes are so big that they are beyond saving...

flyer good that you have a nice NCT group. It's so lovely to have a nice network of local mums with babies of the same age. I also had a nice group and we used to meet very often. Shame that half of them have now moved outside London (mainly because they needed more space once they had babies no. 2) - sadly the ones I liked most moved out, so I'm only in touch with one of the girls these days. However, my friend had a really toxic group - they were judgemental and competitive, acting like super mums who had perfect babies and no problems (yeah... whatever Grin) so I guess you just have to be lucky and get the right people!

Hope all goes well with your monitoring roofio and hope your BP is better tarlia and pseudo!

What can I eat...???

claphammama · 18/09/2013 14:28

haha falcon, hilarious! My imagination is running wild Grin Grin Grin

yay!!! hospital bag bowlfull Grin and I'm glad it's not just my DS who uses me as his climbing frame and is into licking. Does it come with special noises too?

char1eston · 18/09/2013 14:37

Feeling a bit sorry for myself today. Had a migraine yesterday and am just coming through the other side. Just managed a cuppa and some biscuits. Thankfully DP had the day off yesterday as his Mum was visiting so I've been in bed since 4pm yesterday. At least that means that I don't have the clothes issue - have just put on a pair of ginormous pants and that's what I'll live in today.

Pseudo - glad you are being discharged. Can't have been nice being on the labour ward listening to those noises.

Roxvox - sorry to hear about Poppy. At least you were there to say goodbye to her and it does sound like it was the best thing to do. I often think that animals are lucky to have that option, unlike humans.

Orange - I had a water birth and didn't have to have my waters broken to go in there. I did however have them artificially broken after 17/18 hours in labour as I was not progressing. Best thing I ever did as DD was born less than an hour later. It really made the contractions ramp up and I had the urge to push within half an hour. I couldn't have taken being in labour much longer and I think the MW saw that I was getting tired.

Shire - I think it was you talking about visitors. We had family come to visit after 5 days. They rented an apartment so we didn't have anyone staying with us. It was nice to see them and they provided lunches and I didn't do a lot. I would be wary of visitors before then - I definitely had the baby blues on days 3/4 and was pretty upset.

falcon - I'm glad you got a laugh out of dtd - i can't even imagine attempting it!

SC - 38+4 but happy to bake a little longer. Still need to sort out an overnight bag for DD and sort out birth plan and music. Will be wallowing in bed today though (need to send someone out for trifle...)

roofio87 · 18/09/2013 14:42

finished minitoring. all looked good from ctg on paper, but they could hear the 'ectopic heartbeat' (what its called apparently) as well they said best thing to do is proceed as normal and 9/10 times it will correct itself and be fine. a pediatric dr will check his heart out fully when he's born to make sure it seems ok. they aren't particularly worried about it, but of course I will be until he's here and I know he's ok.
good news is ctg showed lots of regular braxton hicks so fingers crossed nature is starting to take its course! !

ananikifo · 18/09/2013 14:50

roofio I hope baby comes happy, healthy, and soon so you can stop worrying.

rox I'm so sorry about Poppy. What an awful shock. Sad

caz that's amazing! So you're the home birth expert. Since you mentioned it, can I ask what you would have on hand to feed the midwives?

This morning there was a senior mw in my mandatory training, and she asked me all the usual questions about due date, how long I'm working, do I know the baby's sex and name. Then she started to ask me why I found out the sex, and to say in the old days no one found out and they had surprises and had pink or blue stuff bought after the birth. I said I'm not bothered about pink or blue but I didn't see any reason to not find out and can't imagine that it'll be any less special to meet my child, already knowing he's a boy. Is it just me or is that a weird, judgy, personal thing for her to say to me while making small talk at an equality awareness presentation?

Pinkforboys · 18/09/2013 14:59

jelly thanks for the lol. Between you and falcon I have some lovely images in my head!

ana I'm on your side- out of order comment from mw. I never thought I'd want to know the sex of my unborn child but was some how wrangled into it by DH for no.1 and never regretted it. In fact I think it kind of helped as I assumed I was having a girl and was a little mournful for a while when told it was a boy. I felt better to get that over while in utro than end up with pnd. I think it just adds to the bond. But then again I've never not known now so couldn't tell you which is better!! each to their own and respect their decision... Grin

Gotta go watch DS play football for next 45mins. Hoping he doesn't use the f word this week Blush

Pinkforboys · 18/09/2013 15:02

Oh, and clapham my DS is pretty manic active but somehow his trousers survive hole-free but then he never wears the same pair two days in a row. He's inherited that male trait of thinking trousers are there to wipe your hands on. At least I can work out what he had for lunch that day...

claphammama · 18/09/2013 15:08

oh pink I could feed a small village with what's on DS's clothes at the end of each day...

MrsHoratioNelson · 18/09/2013 16:13

Phew! Today I have been mostly viewing nurseries. Apparently I need to make a decision about this now, even though the baby isn't born yet! How am I supposed to decipher all this stuff about ofsted and EYFS and make decisions about the baby's education when I don't even know if I'm getting a blue one or a pink one?! Confused

Plus, I am coming at this with my lawyer's brain, trying to make decisions on an objective, risk-based approach and today I think I rejected one because I was in and out in 15 minutes and I thought they weren't trying hard enough Grin. This is not how I work at all...

cazboldy · 18/09/2013 16:16

clapham - my boys are like that - and as they get older it's grass stained shirts, with pockets ripped off, and even a sleeve ripped off a blazer once! when playing football! and mine don't wear them for more than a day either!

pseudo yay to being discharged x Smile

glad things were ok roofio

ana toast and tea if in the night/early morning, and the obligatory cakes/biscuits. they aren't usually too demanding Smile

BowlFullofJelly · 18/09/2013 16:20

Normally a bit of growling and panting clapham, but thats the same if he is a tiger, dog, dinosaur or cat - very little difference!

[Flowers] roofio - i want to say don't worry, but i know you will, so sending positive vibes instead!

Ds is now asleep in buggy - its far too late for a nap, but my god the peace is lovely....

BowlFullofJelly · 18/09/2013 16:22

Or Thanks even!

Flyer747 · 18/09/2013 16:47

Aww Roofio more ThanksThanks from me. I hope everything will be ok, and I'm sure it will be. However it won't stop you worrying though.

Mega out of breathe, it feels like something is crushing my windpipe. Called triage they told me to go in, however warned me there is a long wait today. Might sack it off and if it gets worse then I will pop down.

claphammama · 18/09/2013 17:13

oh no Caz... I'd better stock up on shirts and blazers too then! I guess I just have to accept that boys will be boys!

I'm sure everything will be OK roofio, try not worry hard as it is Wine

hope you feel better later flyer

I'm feeling really lazy... have been in bed for two hours doing nothing. The idea was to have a nap but couldn't sleep. Promised DP a nice curry tonight but now really don't feel like cooking...

MotherOfNations · 18/09/2013 17:30

Sorry you're worried Roofio. Chances are that if it is anything then it's something that can be easily treated.

After discovering that I'd started to dilate this morning I googled to see if it's possible to get to 10cm without any contractions and found quite a few stories of women who's babies practically fell out. If only it was that easy for all of us.

Flyer747 · 18/09/2013 17:53

Just watching last nights midwives. That bloke who took a picture of his partner in labour when the babies head was out! Wtf...if dp attempted to take a picture I'd be tempted to punch him. I mean what's that bloke gonna do post the photo on Facebook or show friends and family, weirdo!

thethreeblondies · 18/09/2013 18:20

I watched that earlier flyer did think the same about the photo taking, poor woman!

The lady in the pink top where it went quick and she was losing the plot somewhat, was annoying me, well her mum and partner were, they just didn't seem supportive or try and calm her down! Don't think I've the patience to be a mw, I'd be shouting at women making too much noise or fuss Confused Tatiana the mw seemed lovely Smile

Natalieand · 18/09/2013 19:00

I don't have time to catch up fully today as im having a day from hell but just wanted to post quickly, does anyone remember a while ago discussing u are more likely to go Into labour on a full moon...

Tommorow is a full moon (according to the moon calender) so happy labouring too those that keep that trend going :-)

PseudoBadger · 18/09/2013 19:03

Quick comment during DS bedtime - had a steroid injection today - holy crap it was agony!!!
Tarlia, hope all is ok?

OP posts:
PseudoBadger · 18/09/2013 19:21

Right here's my update on the outcome of the last 24 hours....
Basically I'm on Labetelol 3 times a day. Review tomorrow with consultant how to monitor bp etc ongoing and whether to move section earlier than 39+3. Had first steroid dose today (ouch! See above!) just in case it is brought forward or in case I go into labour (as I'd still want a cs). Second ouchy dose tomorrow :(
My right hand is essentially unusable due to pain and numbness from carpal tunnel so i'm trying to decide whether to stay in bed for a couple of precious hours tomorrow morning or whether to go to the gp.

OP posts:
Tarlia · 18/09/2013 19:22

roo hope ou are ok and not panicking Flowers

falcon shame you couldn't manage, but glad it cheered you both up. That's almost even better.

clapham £57 here for a trim, so makes me feel better that its what I'd have paid there anyway, as things are so much more expensive here.

Can't remember what else I was to reply to. I'm in the hospital assessment - urg, dr came in as I typed- so I'm admitted again..

Prob cross posting with a million posts now ops.

MotherOfNations · 18/09/2013 19:32

Please stop talking about how sore steroid jabs are. I'm dreading mine now. What is it comparable to so I know what to expect?
