Thank you toby and enjoying!
I hadn't really thought about getting DH to go out and buy stuff, probably because he's away at the minute (although he should be here for the birth, might have to teach him to use the washing machine though...)

I want a Crunchie now! :(

TobyLerone · 20/09/2013 15:49

I'm with you, Tarka. It's onesies all the way! I put both of mine in clothes from very early and now I just think "they look so uncomfortable!"

I really love newborns in white, but barely anything we have is white because it's hand-me-downs from my sister. There's a lot of blue, so if this one is a girl there will be some confused people around!

MrsVDB · 20/09/2013 15:54

humpty I had to do that too as I had literally a whole pile of shopping bags piled up with random clothes I had bought ( building work in house so nowhere proper to put everything yet) and had a melt down not knowing what I had and what I still needed! Ended up taking a few bits back to change sizes as had loads of certain things. I know I already have far too many clothes but its just too tempting!! And with baby gap keep emailing me discounts I can't help it!

TarkaTheOtter · 20/09/2013 16:05

I like white too. Which is good because we don't know what we're having. The tesco ones fit dd really well and are so cheap that I'll probably mostly use those again. DD is just getting to the age where they often don't have poppered vests in her size and its a bit upsetting as they're so useful for holding nappies in place.
It nearly time for all the local NCT nearly new sales round here so I'm sure I'll soon have loads of stuff. At the moment preparing for the baby has just involved telling dh to paint things (because I'm rubbish at cutting in, not because I'm worried about chemicals).

AnotherStitchInTime · 20/09/2013 16:24

Hello all, haven't had time to catch up with the thread so hope all are ok.

I have loads of baby clothes stuffed under dd1's bed that are mostly pink. I think I will be getting some Dylon and dyeing them blue, because the thought of having to buy it all again is just too much. Both of mine lived in vests and sleepsuits until 6 months, little outfits are cute, but just get pooed on and are fiddly when trying to take off after a poomageddon.

Lalunya85 · 20/09/2013 16:24

NCT nearly new sales yes, around here too! Very eager to go although knowing myself it'll be a minefield and I'll end up buying much more than I need because everything will look so lovely and sweet. I'm not normally this emotional!

Would you guys say that it makes sense to buy the basics, then wait and see what little outfits friends and families give as hand-me-downs, and if there's anything missing you can always buy post-birth...?

TobyLerone · 20/09/2013 16:34

Are they good, the NCT Nearly New sales? There's one near us soon and I've never been to one before.

And yes, exactly Lalunya. Get the basics, then top up afterwards.

TarkaTheOtter · 20/09/2013 16:36

Yes I'd say wait - but that is with hindsight. With dd I had a full set of newborn and 0-3 stuff - washed, ironed!! and in the "nursery" at about 30 weeks. I even labelled the drawers (with diagrams!!) for dh. It was fun though to be so wrapped up in it so I wouldn't have done it differently. This time it is fair to say I am much more relaxed.

In the end I found dh was bored on paternity leave. In the first few weeks they sleep loads (just in very short stretches) so not a problem to nip out to shops.
On the other hand I thought I would get baby clothes as gifts and I did get some but it was all 3-6months up, do I wouldn't rely on that.

TarkaTheOtter · 20/09/2013 16:41

The NCT sale here are great. Far cheaper than ebay. But.. all the good stuff goes quickly. The 50+ volunteers will have "shopped" the night before so all the real bargains go then. Then the first 30mins is NCT members only. It's still worth going, especially if its a big sale for toy, clothes and books because they'll be hundreds - but as a volunteer I have seen some true bargains on equipment - eg Phil and teds for £50, Tripp trapp highchairs for £30 etc but they'll be gone before the sale starts.

TarkaTheOtter · 20/09/2013 16:55

Lol at my examples - it would be fair to say I live in a very middle class area.

Lalunya85 · 20/09/2013 16:58

High chairs? When do you need a high chair?

All you amazingly organised people with spreadsheets and labelled drawers: I salute you! I know I could easily do the same - I have some German bloody in my and the organising monster and perfectionist streak does come out sometimes! I've been trying to resist the temptetion to get too organised so far as with me it always ends up being slightly (or not so slightly) obsessive...

Thank god it's friday. Have crunchies become bigger?? This one here looks huge and I fear I'll have a bad conscience if I scuff all of it in one go...

Lalunya85 · 20/09/2013 16:59

That was supposed to read: German blood in me of course...

Lalunya85 · 20/09/2013 17:00

Tarka - I think we live in the same neighbourhood! ;)

Sultanajo · 20/09/2013 17:16

Really craving a crunchie pack of four now ladies! Grin

Feeling quite sleepy despite not doing much today. Will need to find my second wind before going out tonight.... How gorgeous is it outside? I really should have got out more today....

DH is only taking two days paternity leave....part of me is fine with it and the other part is shitting myself! Blush

No word from the hospital re diabetes test so feeling hopeful its negative and they havent lost the sample. Will call my gp next week and see if they have the results. That means I can have a yummy chocolate dessert tonight! Grin Grin Have booked a private scan just after 30 weeks to see if his abdomen is still chunky or if things have evened out for my sanity! Wink

How is your pie doing toby?

TobyLerone · 20/09/2013 17:24

Just waiting for the oven to heat up and the filling to cool a bit so I can assemble them without melting the pastry. Dishes are lined and lids are cut out :)

I fancy something chocolatey tonight, for definite. I'll get these pies in sharpish and go to the station via Sainsbury's.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 20/09/2013 17:49

Mmmmm, I just ate a box of M&S marzipan chocolate. It's cos I need the energy for yoga, innit? Grin

See you all later, I am off to bliss out (or, more likely, fall over and snigger a lot). Ommmmmmmm

Sultanajo · 20/09/2013 18:06

Toby you massively deserve it! Grin

Good luck humpty! Wink

MrsGSR · 20/09/2013 18:43

toby you inspired me to make a homemade pasty for tea :) it was lovely. Although I have had to run to tescos to buy a Crunchie (coincidently the multipack is on offer). I've taken the rolling pin to one and sprinkled it over some ice cream (which I had to have as rennies are not working!)

extracrunchy · 20/09/2013 18:54

I am getting Dominos. Yes. And I really fancy some baklava. X

TobyLerone · 20/09/2013 19:12

Dammit. Crunchies were not on offer in Sainsbury's. Toffee Crisps were, so I got them and some Wispas.

Spacefrog35 · 20/09/2013 19:44

Dominos here as well extra Blush

Toothfairy78 · 20/09/2013 19:59

Hey happy Friday folks!

Good news, I finally got my MAT B1!

And it's Friday!

I had a crap week this week, being run ragged at work and not quie getting rid of stupid twonk from my office, so glad I have next week off. Need a break!

We're off to Bruges for a long weekend tomorrow.

Did I mention it's also Friday! Grin

TobyLerone · 20/09/2013 20:17

Ooooh, I love Bruges! Have a lovely time :)

Angelesque · 20/09/2013 20:18

Humpty OMG A DRAGON OUTFIT. Please where did you get it? I HAVE to buy one!!

Angelesque · 20/09/2013 20:32

Toothfairy forgive my ignorance: who do I harass for my MAT B1? Initial appts so far with a variety of midwives; next appt with community midwife at GP surgery in a month. I'll be 25 weeks then... Guess it can wait till then? :S
