While sitting with my foot up on the sofa, I'm waiting for the health visitor who apparently will be coming to hand over the baby's red book. The letter said she'd be here "around 2om" - well, its now 2:55 and no sign. Is this par for the course? Its a good job I'm not still working or had plans. I originally had another appointment booked for 3:30 but had cancelled that because of my ankle.

On midwives, I have seen 4 due to illness and a change of job, but it seems that round here, that is just unfortunate and i have seen the same one now for the last three visits.

Tarlia · 11/09/2013 15:05

Congratulations, skull and family. Lilly is a lovely name. Sorry they were pretty crappy about your labour progression, I know that too well. So pleased you have a gorgeous healthy bundle though.

sparkely I'd go for it, you never know how long you'll stay in hospital anyway so you might miss out on the 'fun'. Def worth doing before it gets too cold!

Goodness, so sorry to hear about the two falls yesterday, ladies. Glad to hear you are both ok.

badger sorry to hear that you are now fitting into the PIHT catagory, hope it doesn't progress to PE! Any news on the meds? That's what I am on btw. Taking 4.

Sucks about the dishwasher unla :( they always choose the best days - ours bust the day of DS birthday party at the beginning of the year. I hope the landlord gets it fixed ASAP.

I'm still being kept captive as my platelets have dropped and kidney function worse than yesterday - though both still just in 'normal' range, but they are things I cannot physically feel. Talk of bringing my induction forward a week, eeekkk.

favellio · 11/09/2013 15:06

Welcome to the world baby Lilly!! Massive congratulations Skull, sorry to hear about the crap treatment though! Thanks

Tarlia · 11/09/2013 15:08

Teehee jelly. But whhhhhy? I mean its a perfectly good word. Why are your ears bleeding? ;)

I also meant to say - I hope legally and both babies are ok, starting to worry a bit as she said she would be back to tell us the news.. Hopefully she is just a tired milk machine!

HeffalumpTheFlump · 11/09/2013 15:10

I've been quite lucky with my midwife. I have seen the same one for all my normal appointments and all the others have been fantastic. Only complaint is it is impossible to get hold of my community midwife to ask questions, so I end up speaking to maternity triage each time. They are great, but I feel like I'm wasting their time!

MrsHoratioNelson · 11/09/2013 15:11

Me too Tarlia. Hope that she's just got her hands full rather than anything being wrong with her or the twins. Maybe if it was an ELCS it got pushed back further (even til today?) due to emergencies?

claphammama · 11/09/2013 15:46

tarlia good to "see" you although sorry you are still stuck in the hospital! If they induce you a week earlier, how many weeks would you be then? And hope you are coping ok without DS in the evenings / nights x

girls, quick questions... I'm feeling really unwell today (nothing scary just nausea, headache and generally feeling very weak). I really want to go back home after work and go to bed but have a birthday dinner to go to... it's a very small group (only 5-6 of us, including me and DP) and was only arranged this Saturday so quite last minute. Do you think I would be a terrible person if I cancelled...? I thought I was ok enough to make an effort and force myself but I'm feeling much worse now and would only go and suffer and be miserable. Simply can't face a late night tonight and a full day of work is taking all my energy right now... I feel so bad about it and don't know what to do...

HotSoupDumpling · 11/09/2013 15:50

Clapham - if I were you, I'd cancel! Don't feel bad, you've got the best excuse - say you're really so sorry but feeling very unwell.

PseudoBadger · 11/09/2013 15:54

On my way to be monitored now, potentially a 4 hour BP check depending on the first reading. Had to hand over DS to DP in Waitrose!

Racheld33 · 11/09/2013 15:59

clapham I'd definately cancel, you're heavily pregnant which is all the excuse you need, if you go when not feeling well, you'll feel even worse for pushing yourself to go.

claphammama · 11/09/2013 16:10

thanks hotsoup and rachel - texting now to cancel...

good luck pseudo - hope it goes well! fingers crossed for you

Smitten1981 · 11/09/2013 16:23

Clapham Cancel it.

I'm finding this part really hard too, it feels like first trimester hell again. Your friends will understand and you don't want to be feeling queasy in a restaurant.

Slippysnow · 11/09/2013 16:35

Hi all,

skull many congratulations to your family, sorry for the service you was given not very 'equal' treatment your dp was given.

Today was my graduation! Despite last nights nightmares my waters didn't break as I collected my certificate. Seems so weird to have graduated with a first class honours and a baby bump 2 things that never appeared possible. I have to say I am proud of myself :)

Slippysnow · 11/09/2013 16:36

(You'd never tell I have a 1st from the previous post, didn't even make sense... The orange juice has gone to my head)

SeriousStuff · 11/09/2013 16:38

Jelly that does sound incredibly annoying! I guess those of us waiting for DC1 have all that to come!

Clapham I would cancel. I have a lunch and afternoon tea booked in over this weekend then a day trip 3 hours away for lunch when I'll be 37 weeks. I really want to go to all of these but if I'm not feeling up to it day before/on the day, I will just say. I think we're getting close enough to baby day now that people will understand!

LostMySocks · 11/09/2013 16:41

Congratulations skull. Hope obs go well and you're both home soon and that they treat you both better from now. Hopefully lots of newborn cuddles will help your DP feel better.

Just had my 36 week MW appointment and been ok'd for the birthing centre. Ive never seen the same MW twice but they are all part of the same team and come out to do appointments at our local GP. They've all been lovely and caring and always take the time to read through my notes so they are up to speed. Maybe I'm lucky but they always seem as pleased as me to hear the baby's heartbeat. Baby had hiccups today. I could feel little kicks and hear it at the same time over the monitor thing.

Smitten1981 · 11/09/2013 16:44

Congrats Slippy You must be pleased!

Good timing to get it all out of the way before the baby comes too!

Natalieand · 11/09/2013 17:23

tarlia sorry u haven't been 'released yet'
But better to be safe than sorry xx

clapham sorry you are feeling crappy, I deffo think it allows for a cancelling dh and I used to pregnancy card to cancel a meal out when I was only about 26 weeks lol

I'm so full of cough and cold its horrible I feel like total crap!

My midwife is off for 2 weeks as of Monday as they work a 6 week on 2 week off rota system, so baby absolutely under no circumstances can arrive until I am exactly 38 weeks (my next appt where I will be given a sweep) or I won't get the midwife I want during labour.

I can't remember for the life of me what else I just read :-/

Tarlia · 11/09/2013 17:24

slippy that's amazing! Congratulations!!

clapham good to 'see' you too! Sorry to hear you are feeling rotten. I do hope you cancelled and are not feeling too guilty, you really shouldn't as you are heavily pregnant. I'd be 37 weeks instead of 38, but will see what the Dr has to say tomorrow.

Good luck, badger, really hope that it's lower now.

DS was so excited to give me a present this afternoon, a photo in photo frame and laminated drawing which he made today (on Facebook) to keep me company. Sniff

SeriousStuff · 11/09/2013 17:28

Congratulations Slippy! What an achievement. My brain has been like mush for the last few months so I can't imagine how studying for a degree could've happened! My mum submitted her phd a few weeks after I was born so I'm always in awe of such achievements.

rubytwosday · 11/09/2013 17:49

Congratulations Skull and slippy. Clapham keep an eye on your itching. I was diagnosed with OC today. I haven't particularly had itching on palms or feet - just all over! Registrar originally wanted me to be induced next week but as symptoms are fairly mild at the mo, the consultant said I could be monitored again next Wednesday and discuss induction after that. Hoping liver function won't reduce too much so I can hold on to her a while longer. Falcon, sorry you are having such a rubbish time. I hope things improve and that you and baby have a less stressful time. Also hope Legally and twins are ok.

Warlin · 11/09/2013 17:51

Congrats on Lilly skull fab news!

Congrats on graduation slippy

clapham def cancel...prob my advice is too late but you def have a good excuse.

Dreading my ECV tmw but have sneaking suspicion baby may have turned. Don't want to get my hopes up though. Also can't decide whether dh needs to come,,,it means him taking off work and there can be so much waiting around. Mum has offered to come instead and I think she'd secretly love to as she has never seen any of my scans....hopefully dh won't be too put out but I doubt it.

Totally exhausted today as ds has diarrhoea and we have had several pooplosions! Nightmare when out for lunch etc...hurry up dh and get home from work :)

PseudoBadger · 11/09/2013 17:54

BP much better and ctg reassuring. The day unit has closed so now I'm sitting in Triage waiting for my blood results.

MrsO27 · 11/09/2013 17:54

Congrats skull and to you slippy on your graduation. Happy times Smile

After my last post "really need to take more care on stairs blah blah blah", can u believe I just fell down our ones at home AGAIN? Was holding handrail so not as bad as Monday but seriously, what is the matter with me? What's worse is that I'm going to be scared as hell now with every flight of stairs I have to go down. Was thinking how bad it would be if I was carrying a baby too. Maybe we need to sell our townhouse and buy a bungalow!

Natalieand · 11/09/2013 18:03

mrsO do u think its cos u can't see the next step so miss your footing? Pleas take care xx

ruby sorry to hear u have been diagnosed with OC. How many weeks r u ATM? Hopefully your one of the first due dates on the thread and not needing to deliver really early x

pseudo I'm glad the monitoring went well and bp seems to have calmed a little lets hope its a trio and u get good blood results too. Xx

warlin I think as long as u have someone with u your comfortable with u should be fine as long as like u say dh isn't put out by it. Xx best of luck for tommorow do they scan first to check baby is still upside down?

Congrats slippy I'm not sure i could do a degree even without a child or pregnancy in my life too lol xxx
