The end was indeed awful. I was very very glad to be having an elcs at 38+3 because I was so bloody uncomfortable. With hindsight a lot of that was because he was transverse breech - thankfully I was spared spd etc - but also the heartburn was horrendous. Never had it before and thankfully disappeared the day I had Miles.

This bit is much better. Brought him in for a feed at 7am so he's now snuggled up to me asleep. He keeps doing contented little sighs, and if I touch his cheek he purses his lips in just the cutest way annoying mum

Quodlibet · 13/09/2013 07:51

I am so glad to hear that the baby bit is easier than the pregnant bit! Mine seems to have developed a pattern of activity which is a day or so of frantic activity, bordering on uncomfortable, where I have full-on Alien-style forms visible under the skin, and then a couple of days of being disturbingly quiet and recuperating, so I have had a lot of the panics that Mother had about whether it is moving enough. I have also had the 'am I leaking amniotic fluid' panic (spent 3 hrs the night before we left for holiday getting checked for that) - turns out (have confirmed since in v hot country) no, the damp pants is just excessive sweating! Blush. I am starting to get uncomfortable already at 26 weeks so am imagining the next 14 weeks are only going to get worse. Have also decided to get on the prenatal yoga when I get back - I feel like I am losing flexibility and range of movement by the day at the moment and need some help trying to maintain it!

Cavort · 13/09/2013 07:56

In stark contrast to your lovely cuddly morning Janey, Elodie woke herself and me both up with a fart so loud that it sounded like she had ripped a hole in the nappy. Always a nice start to the day Grin

I think we need an updated photo of Miles and I don't think we've seen Lara at all yet? Purple that's a great photo of Lucy and the dog!

Ok, spill the beans, what are your cute and slightly embarrassing which you would never use in public nicknames for your little bundles of joy? I will start the ball rolling... I call her my 'cheeky pudding' because she is quite rotund these days and DH just goes with 'chicken.'

janey1234 · 13/09/2013 08:46

Chubs or tubs. He was so scrawny it was ironic at first but he's properly filling out now. Oh and baldy. He seems to have kept his hair at the back/sides but lost it on top Blush

Love cheeky pudding!

So can I see/add pics on my iPhone app?

MotherOfCleo · 13/09/2013 09:01

Its scary isn't it quod, they're trouble and they're not even here yet!!! Grin

So far no spd, no heartburn, I think he lays funny at times and I get an awful restless leg or pain in the left side of my fanjo sorry WAY tmi but that's it. He goes from laying breach one day giving me a huge bump to transverse the next so my bump shrinks.....very odd.

Am I completely mad/in denial about labour? As yet Im not worried, I figure, like you say, I'll be so bloody uncomfortable by then I'll just want him out! Plus I figure there is no way around it, he has to come out one way or another, it will hurt a shit load but can't go on forever and I'll be a mummy at the end of it.

cav you actually made me laugh out loud at the fart story!!! Grin Grin Bless your little 'lady'!

Alexandra6 · 13/09/2013 09:02

Ah waking up to Miles sounds cute! Yes to baby pics!

On a positive note for the preggers ladies on those last few weeks, just think box sets, no work and ice cream! I'm looking forward to it Grin Although sorry you're feeling uncomfortable already quod - I know it's totally different for everyone so hopefully you'll have as good a third trimester as poss, fingers crossed.

Oh and already I have an embarrassing name for my baby (poor thing, not even hear yet) - baby monks! (As in baby monkey) Blush

MotherOfCleo · 13/09/2013 09:03

Love the nicknames too!!! Grin Grin

I call babies and puppies pickles, porkchops, puddings, pumpkins etc so I feel my nickname for bubs may have a 'p' theme Blush

Alexandra6 · 13/09/2013 09:10

Oh and mother I'm in total denial on labour too Grin Not a bad thing I suppose! On the movement front, maybe I'm too relaxed but I have quiet days and busy days too for bump so I do think it's normal (but obvs worrying on quiet days) - tends to be quieter when I'm busy so I take it easy and have something sugary and cold and lie down if I ever want to feel him moving! Totally agree it's always worth getting checked if it's too quiet though. Ooh I said "he" again there even though we don't know!

Purplemonster · 13/09/2013 09:21

Cavort - this HV was a lot more reasonable and although she's only gained 6oz had the common sense to say if she seems happy and healthy maybe she's just settling into her natural size and she's supposed to be small. Got togoback next week to check she's staying steady between the 2nd and 9th centile on the graph and if she is they're going to leave well alone...assuming its not a panicky hysterical HV I see next week of course Grin

I'll update the picture, the one with the dog is a few weeks old - Janey I'm on an iPhone but not the app and I manage to see pics and add them the only thing I can't figure out is every time I add a new pic it overwrites the previous one so I can only seem to have one pic at a time.

Lots of stupid nicknames here including Lucypoo, pumpkin and pudding. No idea why Blush

MotherOfCleo · 13/09/2013 09:29

Haha, alex lets sit happily in denial. Grin

On Monday this little beasty didn't move from 7.30 am till about 1 pm. Not fun times. Plus I ate a mars bar in that time and nothing. The iced water worked though......phew!!!

HazleNutt · 13/09/2013 09:40

mother you might be like me - except for having to pee every 5 minutes and slight heartburn, I was fine til the end. Was still teaching Bodypump classes 9 months pregnant.

Labour - well, it's painful. Especially if your epidural does not work - happens sometimes. If it happens to you, tell the nurses that no, it does not hurt 'just a little, that's normal' and they'd better get the anesthesiologist back here ASAP.
But you'll manage and as you can read, we're willing to do it again.

Vic's nickname is Käkk. It's Estonian and means..hm, can't really translate, a little bundle or also a little bread bun. But it was one of the first sounds he made, kind of a 'kehhhk', so it stuck.

I'm packing away his 3 month clothes now, again he never got to wear most of them before they were too small. But met up with some mums from the antenatal class this week and Vic really is a giant compared to other babies. Will have to aim for a smaller one next time, but as I'm not planning to exchange DH to a newer model, not likely to happen.

MotherOfCleo · 13/09/2013 10:03

I hope so hazel!! Fingers crossed I sail through to 9 months.

Purplemonster · 13/09/2013 10:05

Wow Hazle, what are you feeding him! Grin my poor skinny little thing at nearly 11 weeks old is still too small for 0-3 month clothes they hang off her so she's still got all those to grow in to. Oh well, guess she's going to be hobbit sized like me.

Cavort · 13/09/2013 11:25

Mother it sounds like you have the right attitude to birth. If you fully expect it to hurt but keep telling yourself it can't last forever then you'll be fine. And ask for lots of pain relief. Grin

Purple at least you are getting lots of wear out of your newborn stuff! Like Hazle I think we're nearly ready for some 3-6m stuff so i'm going to stick them all in the wash this weekend. Seems like 2 minutes since I was packing newborn stuff away and getting 0-3m out.

I've got a bit of a quandary with the pram at the moment. Despite hanging loads of toys from the hood, Elodie gets bored in the pram carrycot after about 10 minutes which results in whingeing at best and screaming at worst every time she's in it awake, so pram time at the moment is planned around times when she's likely to be asleep, which is a PITA. She's fine in the car seat because she can see all around her but babies aren't supposed to spend too long in car seats. I know it's recommended that babies lie flat until 6 months but there's absolutely no way she will put up with the carrycot until Christmas so I was wondering about trying the stroller seat? 10 weeks seems very young for it, but it reclines horizontal and I can get a head hugger for it so she will be able too see to keep her quiet. What do you reckon? Are any of you having similar issues?

BelissimaLol · 13/09/2013 12:09

Lara is 7 weeks tomorrow and we just moved into 0-3month stuff. I don't have that many in this size so lets see how long till she is too big for it.
We are having a professional photo shoot tomorrow and I'm well excitedGrin. It's our wedding photographer who offered as the sitting for free cause he knows we will spend money on photos so I have two very cute outfits for it.
Re carry cot- I don't think Lara likes it much either and I also think its to do with not being able to see around. We tend to leave her on the bouncy chair when awake - but to be fair what she really likes is a cuddle and will cry wherever she is!!

BelissimaLol · 13/09/2013 12:13

Oh cav what is the baby development app you mentioned the other day? Do you like it?

Cavort · 13/09/2013 12:34

The Wonder Weeks App
I was a bit skeptical as to how an app could possibly know when my baby would be fussy or not but I've been following it since birth and it has been scarily right so far! Their development predictions go from due date rather than birth date so Elodie is 11 weeks 2 days by due date and is due to start her third 'leap' any time now which the app thinks will lead to a fussy week. Sad

I see the DofC went out last night looking as microscopically thin as she was before. I wonder if she is BFing and had to go to the loos to milk herself like Daisy hand express her rock hard boobs like I had to on my first night out?

OP posts:
HazleNutt · 13/09/2013 14:39

I'm certainly hoping sure she was wearing industrial strength spanx.

MotherOfCleo · 13/09/2013 15:19

What are you on about, I'm going to have a figure just like that after I give birth Wink

Cavort · 13/09/2013 16:31

She probably has 'people' to do the milking for her.

OP posts:
Alexandra6 · 13/09/2013 16:53

I'm going to have a figure like that too mother - love our denial! It's the way forward! Wink

BelissimaLol · 13/09/2013 19:06

Erm one more question for you wise ones who subscribe to which magazines and know all about reviews
I'm starting to think about high chairs. What is everyone else buying? Any ideas which ones are the best buys?

janey1234 · 13/09/2013 20:07

Good god hadn't even thought about it. Although a couple of friends have said the cheapo ikea one is really good, so might get that?
We currently don't have our own sitting/eating area (dining room full of baby crap, need a new table and chairs in the kitchen) so maybe we ought to prioritise that first....
