Being led astray by the bad kids.... Wink

Cavort · 25/09/2013 21:15

I can cope with the daytime grumpy baby but the nights are killing me! I really hope I can get more than a couple of hours sleep tonight.

It shouldn't really make any difference but it does make me feel slightly better that it's not just mine. Smile Lets hope we all have a decent night and a better day tomorrow.

I'm not surprised. A few weeks ago i had several nights of feeding every two hours (from start of feed) and him taking ages to go back to sleep, followed by him waking up at 4.30sm for the day and it was awful. Sounds like you're having it much worse Shock so you really do have my sympathies.

Really do hope things are at least marginally better tonight...

BelissimaLol · 25/09/2013 22:04

Well I'm pleased to tell you I have passed the test GrinGrin - so baby brain has not taken over completely!
Cav I was born miles away in a very hot country but am European in nationality. So this will be my third passport haha!
Sorry to hear about all these naughty babies. I'm off to bed now as I'm sure I will be awaken at 3. Lara has been too good this evening which just means the night will be a bad one!

Purplemonster · 25/09/2013 22:15

Oh well done Lol!

janey1234 · 25/09/2013 22:21

Yay! Good work! SmileSmile

janey1234 · 25/09/2013 22:26

Question for all the mums actually.. (Weird, typing that made me realise I'm a mum. I keep being surprised by that!)

Does you baby dribble yet, and chew constantly on their hands? I know teething is in theory ages away and really hope it is as the idea of breastfeeding a hungry baby with teeth terrifies me but have heard it can happen this early. Please tell me I'm doing a version of symptom spotting, and it means nothing as all your babies are at it?!

Purplemonster · 25/09/2013 23:10

Janey- I have been wondering the same thing. Had to buy bibs as she has suddenly started drooling everywhere and is constantly chewing in her hands. I assume she's too young for teething but the chewing and dribbling did make me wonder!

Cavort · 25/09/2013 23:12

Elodie has been dribbling like mad for at least a few weeks, maybe longer and has now started to blow bubbles as well. She sucks/chews her hands all the time now whether she's hungry or not, which is bloody confusing for me!

I was talking to my Sister about it ealier and she said my Nephew started dribbling when he was only about 5 weeks but his first tooth didn't appear until 18 weeks, which is still early but meant the dribbling didn't signal teething was imminent. She said it was obvious when the fitst tooth was coming as his gums went really red and swollen. Elodie's gums are still nice and pink, thank goodness, that's the last thing I need as well!

I have been trying to sleep since 10 but can't! WTF is going on?? I had 3 hours last night and have been struggling to stay awake all day. Confused

OP posts:
Purplemonster · 25/09/2013 23:50

Which begs the question, how bad are they going to be when they actually are teething? Confused she's already drooling through three t-shirts a day!

Cavort · 26/09/2013 01:57

Breast shell on the mouth maybe? Grin

BelissimaLol · 26/09/2013 03:26

So it appears I'm suffering from the same problem as cav. Lara is currently fast asleep but I seem to have woken up for no reason AngryAngry

janey1234 · 26/09/2013 07:15

First time in ages that Miles has woken up more than once. Up every hour from 2am, although I only fed him at 3 and 5. Honestly think he was too tired to sleep properly. Thankfully it only took 5 mins to settle him back to sleep each time...

Doing everything I can to get him back in his daytime routine today, naps have been a bit all over the place since he got a cold.

HazleNutt · 26/09/2013 08:11

yes, Vic is drooling all over the place and chewing everything. He loves Sophie the Giraffe, so if you don't have one, I would recommend. And wanted to eat 4 times last night, his usual is once or twice. All this milk production should be good for weight loss, right?

I'm actually expecting to lose some after I go back to work, as I should not have any time to eat. Which is good, I need to lose tons of weight before xmas - my sister is getting married and most people there saw me the last time when i was at my skinniest, I don't want to be the talk of the evening.

janey1234 · 26/09/2013 08:17

I think I'm going to be the talk of the wedding this weekend, am the size of a house compared to the last time I saw most of them! Although let's be honest people only notice the bride, not the bridesmaids, and this one is 24 weeks pregnant!

Ooh I do have a Sophie, will get it out today.

BelissimaLol · 26/09/2013 08:25

Quick question about Sophie! Did u get it from Amazon? Some of the reviews say they bought a fake and I got a bit worried. I generally buy almost everything from there so it will be highly inconvenient to have to drag my ass somewhere in order to get the real thing!
Dh has a friend with a 4 month old and she started tweeting at 7 weeks!!!! The only thing she likes is this giraffe thing.

janey1234 · 26/09/2013 08:37

Mine was a gift - but think it was from Jojo maman bebe?

Cavort · 26/09/2013 09:11

I think a Sophie the Giraffe and some other teethers would be a wise investment, I will order some.

Hazle whenever I am up feeding in the night feeling knackered, I always think about the fat burning and weight loss how good it is for her and it makes it seem easier.

Janey surely everyone at the wedding will know you've recently had a baby and will cut you some slack if you're a bit 'cuddlier' than usual?

I don't really need weight loss (tho a little wouldn't hurt), it's fat burning I need to get rid of the remaining belly flab. We still haven't got round to booking a holiday but we will hopefully but I don't fancy the prospect of a bikini at the moment, and I still have that sodding brown line down mt belly. When does that go?

Despite the cold, I think Elodie had a reasonable nights sleep last night (down asleep at 7.30, dream feed at 10, woke/fed at 2, woke at 3 and had a cry while I gave Calpol and saline drops but went straight back off until 7). And she has just moaned her way off to her first nap of the day.

I however couldn't sleep until nearly midnight (no strong coffee for me today!) and then kept waking due to a combination of worrying about her breathing and the noise of sleeping in a room with a mini snot-filled Darth Vader. I still feel better than yesterday though. Smile

So far today, both of our clean clothes covered in a combination of dribble, snot, vapour rub and Calpol. It is disgusting. Hmm

A bit like a baby, I find it hard to sleep when I'm overtired, sounds like it was the same for you!

janey I forgot the bride was so pregnant - did she manage to find a dress she likes with a good fit? Hope so! Have a great time - is Miles going with DP or being babysat?

janey1234 · 26/09/2013 09:33

Even people who don't know I've recently had a baby will be able to tell - because I'm planning to keep him near as my excuse for my appearance! Wink

I don't know about the bloody line. For some reason i thought it went soon after birth, but mine is still there too Angry It is getting paler though I think

Alex - Miles is coming too. My folks have been invited too Smile (all my very loveliest friends invite my folks to their wedding! Wink) despite her only having 63 guests - I guess because she knows them so well from visiting them in France over the years. So between the four of us we'll be able to cope with Miles I'm sure. Having them there will definitely give me time to drink and dance more enjoy the reception.
In terms of her dress, she got her BFP the week after buying the dress. Thankfully they allowed her to cancel the size 10 and reorder a size 14, and they said they would make adjustments. The only prob was that the shop then went bust and closed down, so she's now had to find someone else to adjust it. Not sure how it's going but I get the impression it's a pain, poor her Hmm

Alexandra6 · 26/09/2013 09:51

Must be quite tough being a preggers bride! My dress wouldn't have worked at all with a bump but sounds like she luckily got a style and material that works with alterations, phew!

On the linea negra fading, I just had a very quick google and it varies, one website says it fades over a year one said it never fully goes but I've decided that website is stupid I thought I'd got away without getting that as I had nothing during my 20-30 weeks, however a couple of days ago my mum saw my bump and mentioned moisturising including where the light line is. I said, indignant, I don't have a linea negra actually. Turns out I have now got a very faint one but just can't see the bottom of my bump anymore! Wink

janey1234 · 26/09/2013 10:27

I think that's the problem Alex - it doesn't work Hmm think it's like you just buying your dress a few sizes too big then having to have the top taken in.... She even mentioned having to have panels of fabric put in, poor her!

Cavort · 26/09/2013 10:28

Alex my line appeared quite late at 29 weeks while I was sunning myself in Spain. It might never go? Gah!!

I have just had a read of this interesting research-based site. I recommend having a look if you haven't already. I was considering starting some sleep training at some point as society expects you should be able to get your baby to sleep at times which suit the parents ASAP after birth, but this (especially this page on potential costs of implementing sleep training) has changed my mind and I am just going to let it happen on its own as nature intended. After all she has already got herself into a routine of 3 naps per day and mostly sleeps at night without any effort from me. If I do decide to go down the sleep training route at some point at least I will feel it is a more informed decision rather than listening to so-called experts who have books to pedal.

I'm really not sure about CIO either. Obviously haven't done that at all yet, as he's way too young, but it just seems a bit cruel. Having said that lots of my friends have done it to some extent with their babies pnce they're older. Thankfully so far Miles has been ok at learning to self settle, so to try and get him into a napping routine I've just tried to play been noisy to keep him awake, and then fed and changed and tucked him up when he's "supposed" to be sleeping.

janey1234 · 26/09/2013 10:54

Oh and my line came really early - maybe as a result of a week in Dubai and then nearly three weeks in Thailand during my first trimester. I really really hope it goes, I hate it Confused
