Homemama, I have the same problem and I wash then put talc underneath, I have this problem nearly every summer and it seems to work for me a treat.

mabel1973 · 18/07/2006 14:11

welcome miss dynamite!
Homemama - I have same problem. I think sponging and talc is the only way. I actually got really sore between my boobs it looked red raw and had to put nappy cream there, but it did work.
Well taken DS to a farm this morning left DH at home with a few jobs to do, just got back, house is empty (windows all wide open!!) and nothing is done, not even the breakfast pots from this morning. Am so P**d off as have just rung him - he's in the pub with his dad. Hes supposed to be off SICK! And I can't be doing with him if he can't be bothered to help - sorry rant over - am just v. angry at the moment.

Coriander73 · 18/07/2006 14:22

Homemama, I have the same problem...just hugely sweaty underneath & in cleveage!!!! Hadn't really thought about a solution but hearing some of you mention talc..maybe that might help? I have MW appt this pm for more bloods & think I may have another yeast infection (not helpful in this heat is it?!)..I wont have a chance to go home before to wash & dry as they say & now feel so embarassed incase they have to do another swab....

pol26 · 18/07/2006 14:24

Homemamma my sis had this when she had her twins and it was thrush! Apparently thrush is v.common in the third tri. Ask mw but i'm sure canesten cream is ok.

Also 31 weeks and dying in this heat, feel as if i'm melting away! Woke every hour last night and DP was lying there snoring away- GRRRRR!!! Why can't I sleep like that! I am so tired and nodding off all day long because sleeping at night has got so bad. Woke up twice already today with DD's book strewn everywhere and realied I had been asleep for ten mins each time. Don't know how much longer I can cope like this!

Had tesco's shopping delivered today as i'm so knackered and can't be bothered to haul a trolley round there, amuse DD and meal plan for a week at the same time. I was v.impressed chap who delivered it brought it right in to our kitchen and took it all out of the bags etc...! And usually it cost between £70-£100 when I go but this one was £59!!! But I decided against salad stuff and strawbs etc... as DP has gone market mad- not that i'm complaining as they are cheaper and actually last longer thn the ones from tesco's.

Going to talk to mw next week when I see her as have been having real back trouble. Last preg was just if I was stood up for any length of time. Now when i'm sat down my left side of my back really hurts and when I walk get a shooting pain from my lower back down my left leg. Started hobbling like an old lady trying not to put too much pressure on my left foot so it doesn't hurt so much. Anyone eles having this??? What can I do???

homemama · 18/07/2006 14:29

Thanks everyone! The rash is red raw and very itchy and it's driving me crazy. I'll give talc a go!
I can't wait to wear normal underwear again. DH told me he was bored of seeing my huge knickers in bed each night! Bloody cheek!!! I told him I was bored of him farting in bed each night!

Bella23 · 18/07/2006 14:56

Homemama and ladies with boob problems. Sorry to hear you are in discomfort. I reckon talc is the way to go.
Am sick of this heat - can't wait for promised rain on Thursday

mabel1973 · 18/07/2006 18:03

Have calmed down and made up with DH - think it's the heat....

liquidclocks · 18/07/2006 18:41

Pol - sounds like sciatica to me, get your midwife to refer you to physio pronto! Really painful, feel very sorry for you but it's common in pg because of all that extra weight we carry.

Homemama - red rash under boobs can be thrush related so I'd rub some canesten or similar in every mornng and night for a few days just to make sure - I thinks it's got an analgesic in anyway that should help. Other thing is if it's itchy (this goes for bump too) I've found Eurax lotion to be a godsend in pg. Also, I wear my normal bras in pg - they can dig a bit but that's bearable compared to rashes and sweating!

Have a really important presentation tomorrow - what does a HOT pg woman wear and still look professional???

Thanks for the belt pointer puppy - thought it didn't feel right!

Myrtle1 · 18/07/2006 19:23

Pol - I think it sounds like sciatica too. I have had it a bit too and was told to either move around or lie on opposite side to pain as it was LO lying on the nerve.

This heat is horrible and I've not gone to my last pregnancy yoga class this evening as was too hot and bothered to hang around til it started but I do feel bad as I've not had the chance to swap numbers/emails with the ladies there so all those friends I made and we're not going to be able to keep in touch. I hope cool weather comes soon.

compo · 18/07/2006 19:41

Pol - that definitely sounds like sciatica. My sister had it and it was really painful. You need to get it checked out as soon as possible I think. Myrtle - at last you have done yoga classes!! I haven't done any exercise at all except walking. Haven't bothered going out today and yesterday and tomorrow is meant to be hottest day for 100 years!!! Feel sorry for ds but don't think he'd like to go out in this heat anyway. A school over the road from us was having a sports day today

pol26 · 18/07/2006 20:11

Thank you for advice re. my back. Think I will call the midwife tomorrow and see what she says for me to do. And also remind her I want my matb1 form too!

It has been so hot here... I feel all horrid as I have been sweating all day, my face has been literally dripping and feel so horrid, sticky and have had three showers- making no difference what so ever! Have just ate two ice lollies and freezing bottles of water to drink all day... The nights seem to be the worse- especially in bed when i'm lying on a hot pillow, well five pillows.

p.s have tried to 'trim' tonight not to much luck...

Coriander73 · 19/07/2006 10:50

Pol, just to echo what everyone has been saying...sciatica! I've had it on & off throughout this pregnancy & it's been excrutiating at times. I found that the hospital physio was useless so had to resort to private osteopathy. MW tells me that once baby is out normal service should be resumed....doesn't really help to know that when you are in pain but hey, not long to go for us!!

Well luckily no infection so knickers stayed firmly on yesterday at MW check!!! Asked DD if she thought the baby was a girl or a boy & she paused, looked at tummy & girl!!! We'll know soon enough....by the way she asked for the potty yday & pooed in it..HURRAH!!!!!!!

Liquidclocks...hope presentation goes well..whatever your wearing!!

Bella23 · 19/07/2006 11:26

Liquidlocks - hope the presentation goes well.

Well still in hibernation mode, simply can't leave the house this week unless its after 6pm as so damn hot.
Am staying firmly put in the lounge with my wonderful air con unit - bliss even if a little vampirish!

Hope everyone is coping ....

mandaz · 19/07/2006 12:57

I really can't cope with another 8 weeks of this heat. I feel like moving to Iceland for the time being (that's the country, not the food store!)

Not much happening this end. LO is moving around loads, especially at night. I saw my best mate and her DD (18 months) yesterday. Her DD kept leaning back on me with her head on my bump. Well, at least I still have some use as a cushion I guess

Classes start next week. I've managed to book onto 'Feeding and Life After Birth' before I do '1st Stages of Labour' which will be a bit strange. Am quite looking forward to meeting other mums to be in the area though.

Hope everyone is surviving the heat ok.

Lysettes - any news? Hope you and LO are doing ok

clairemow · 19/07/2006 13:04

Hello everyone, took me a while to read all the posts, so I hope I don't miss anything out -

MAIQ, I also think you'd be a bit crazy to get a dog now!! I have cats, and they didn't get fed a few times when DS was born...

Homemama, I hope your baby turns. I had a c-section for DS being breech last time, and it was a totally non-scary thing. It was actually quite pleasant, we had our music on, all v. calm and not at all like an emergency would be. Have you been crawling round on all fours? Apparently it can help turn the baby! Are you going to have a go at having it turned (ECV) in the hospital;? We were, but DS decided to come of his own accord a week before the appointment.

Compo, sorry to hear you were sick. I was sick too at the weekend - mental note, do not drink orange juice first thing and then neglect to have breakfast immediately.

Mabel, had to have a "harrumph" myself at your DH going to the pub while off sick and (more importantly) having been left with chores to do by his heavily pregnant wife! I would have been steaming out of my ears!!!

Cori, laughed about the poo on the rug. We still haven't managed a poo anywhere but in a nappy first thing or during lunchtime nap.

I am finding the heat unbearable at night especially. I think last night must have had about 2 1/2 hours sleep in total, and then DS woke up crying, really unlike him, but we are staying at my parents and he was in a strange and very very hot bed!

pol26 · 19/07/2006 14:17

Bella - I am extremley enviuos of your air con unit!!! I'm surprised you don't have a queue of preg women knocking on your door wanting to share it...

It is soooo bloody hot! No matter where I am I still feel as if i'm on fire and generally grumpy because I can't sleep at night in this heat- our bedroom is sooooooo hot. And DP seems to raidiate heat like a furnace too. Although not envious as at school he has to supervise sports day today- peronally I think its bloody stupid making kids run around in this heat... as if they aren't dehydrated enough. Kinda feel sorry for DP tho as been having to go to work in shirt (long sleeved) tie, suit trousers etc... Except disgustingly told me yesterday his boxers were all wet with sweat- [emoticon for disgust]

DD is managing well tho and hasn't seemed to be bothered except got herself strapped into her pushchair today and said 'out'... I think she was trying to tell me something! but there is no way that i'm venturing anywhere in this heat except to an ice cold shower...

homemama · 19/07/2006 14:18

Is this heat ever going to end?????

Pol, hope you get some relief with your back.

Liquid, hope your presentation went well.

Clairemow, I'm on all fours and rotating on the ball as much as possible. It's the recovery thing that bothers me about a CS. With DS I was up, dressed and wandering around 1.5hours later. I didn't need stitches and felt fab. I'm also worried how I'd cope with a toddler and new baby at home in first six wks. DH cannot have more than 2wks off and then I'll be on my own. Trying to be positive and hoping Lo turns.

mabel1973 · 19/07/2006 14:31

just come in from the garden 'pottering', it's actually quite breezy here today, which is some relief from the heat and fairly shady round the front of our house now. I felt the need to do some weeding (!) but feel itchy and crawling with things now.
I think I am having a real nesting spurt have washed the sofa covers, the seat pads on the dining room chairs and a load of DS's newborn babygro's this morning - the washing machine has gone in to overide!
I will be so glad when DH goes back to work - he driving me mad. DS wouldn't have his nap today as he knew daddy was downstairs, so he is napping now, which means we've missed the last playgroup of term.
Is anyone having problems getting their toddlers to sleep in this heat? We struggled with DS last night - it was 9.30pm when he eventually went!
according to the BBC weather on their website - it is going to rain here tomorrow - I really really hope it does (keeping everything crossed!)

pol26 · 19/07/2006 14:40

Our weather report says rain tomorrow but NO relief!!! AHHHHHHH!!!! Feel like i'm going mad in this heat. My skin feels all prickly and crawly and sweaty.

Luckily DD is sleeping ok apart from waking early and screaming little squeals for me...

Coriander73 · 19/07/2006 14:56

Homemama, hope the baby turns but if not I'm realible told that a pre planned section is nothing compared to an emergency. Although, recovery, obviously will be longer than a vaginal birth, it want be as dramatic & I'm told you do recover quite quickly. I had an emergency last time & am goin for a vbac that is if baby keeps it's head down - have a friend who recently had to have a pre planned after an emergency & said it was an amazing difference...all very calm, music playing & most importantly she was awake to see her baby being born. I tell you though, after some strong BH recently I started to feel quite wimpy & thought wouldn't it be great just to rock up & avoid labour?! No, serioulsy I do want to try but that's not to say I'm not a bit scared!

liquidclocks · 19/07/2006 17:09

Thank you for my luck! My presentation went ok - about in line with the amount of work I out in anyway! Eventually decided to not bother with smart and went in my 3/4 length combats instead (well, at least I didn't go in shorts!)

My LO nearly turned last night - got halfway round then decided to go back! Hope he does though, I've got 8 wks before they'd try an ECV but DO NOT want a c-section - the thought of not being able to drive for 6 weeks is like a nightmare, I rely totally on my car as a means of escape! Have to say the idea of a no-work labour is appealing though... just not enough

Rain here tonight too but no relief from the heat - thanking God for the breeze though, managing to keep the house just below 30.

My morning sickness is back too - I didn't have it last time in the third trimester - is it quite common?

homemama · 19/07/2006 17:45

Thanks, Cori. It's not the procedure itself I'm worried about, it's really the recovery.
How quick is a quick CS recovery?
Sometimes DS just refuses to go upstairs for daytime nap and I have to carry him up. Will I be able to do this 2wks after a section? I'm really just worried about looking/running after a 20mth old and a new baby on my own all day.

I'm a bit nervous about the ECV thing as I worked with a woman who was convinced it had caused her stillbirth. I've heard that accupuncture and/or reflexology can help. Oh well! Still time!

mrsmaddyd · 19/07/2006 17:57

Hi all. Having C section on 1st Sept, cant believe only 5 weeks to go. This heat is killing me, anyone else?

Homemama my little girl was only 14months when i had my last c section and i too worried. You will amazed how much better you feel 2 weeks after a section although carrying your toddler upstairs would be ill advised. Just let him sleep on the sofa, it wont be long till your fighting fit and you can resume your noraml routine with him.

mrsmaddyd · 19/07/2006 18:00

Also i see you are worried about him turning etc. My little one is transverse at the moment and the last one breech. It really doesnt matter if your having a planned c section. A planned c section is soooo different from an emergency believe me. This is my 3rd because of displaced pelvic bones. Good Luck and Take Care.

Angeliz · 19/07/2006 18:06

Seems we're all worrying about the same things!

I dread the thought of a c section for the same reasons. My dd2 will only be 17 months and it will be hard to cope! I've had 2 normal deliveries so far but had the same worries with dd2 as she was breech for ages.
Personally i would rather have a c section though than ECV. I felt like that last time too. I'm sure lots of women have them but they worry me. I guess if they are done with a scanner at all times it's safe but i do actually remember reading alot about babies being breech for a reason sometimes. If Midwives were more used to delivering breech babies too (obviously depending on how exactly they are lying) they wouldn't automatically say cesearean.
I remember reading all about this!

I have the Spatone and am gonna check with Midwife tomorrow that it's o.k and then start taking it.
