And is anyone feeling all restless? You're v.tired and sit down but can't get comfy or settle??? Feel like I can find a comfy sitting position all day and at night spend 70% of the time turning over! GRRRR!

dreamydowler · 14/07/2006 22:06

I know exactly what you mean Im so tired but cant sleep sitting down for too long makes my pelvis ache standing for too long makes my feet swell lying down makes me feel breathless eating anything at all gives me heartburn but not eating leaves me feeling sick why I ask myself have I put myself through this 7 times

clairemow · 14/07/2006 22:32

Pol, yup. ditto on the turning over at night thing. and going to the loo every 2 hours as well.

pol26 · 15/07/2006 10:05

luckily managing to starve off the 'loo-feeling' til about 3/4am... and usually it's accompanied by a huge lot of cramp and me dancing round the bedroom. to which DP at first used to wake up and say 'oh, what is it coming' etc... and he'd hop out of bed, now he just grunts at me and turns over.

Feeling the same about eating too- eat get bad acid and feel like your throat is on fire or don't eat and want to hurl your guts up... who'd put themselves through this a second time, let alone seven You are one brave lady!!!

Sent DP out in the back garden to de-fox although he keeps coming back in looking very stressed, so I assume mum fox is wining!

God, it's going to be another hot one- oh why!!!

liquidclocks · 15/07/2006 10:19

Strangely enough I'm still managing the whole night without having to get up for the loo - with DS by this stage it was at least 2 or 3 times, maybe because of breech position - but my bump hurts so much this morning, must have slept funny.

Congrats to eveyone with your potty training efforts, sounds like it's all going really well. I have read in loads of places that it's perfectly normal for them not to want to poo in the potty at first but as long as you don't stress but persevere they get it eventually.

After a whole week with DS all day DH I think is finally coming to understand that it's not all play and cuddles! He's in a bit of a grump but deep down I'm a little pleased as he must be getting a bit of appreciation for what it's really like to be on your own with kiddies all day - and I'm off out in an hour and leaving him BY HIMSELF!

Someone on here mentioned a cooling spray ages ago and I can't remeber what it was called? - and does it react with fake tan?

pol26 · 15/07/2006 10:25

liquidclocks- feeling the same, DP had a week off work a while ago and encountered DD's tantrums....!!! We tend to have less or more littler ones at the weekend as there are two of us and we do lots of things, so she is kept busy and amused. Yet in the week I have jobs to do and she gets grumpy... also she tends to be more tired as DP gets up early and she hears him.

He finally realised that is isn't some kissy bubba any more and she screams and throws herself on the floor. She also loves climbing on anything which drives me mad and usually ends in a tantrum when she is told/got down...

I am leaving him with her tomorrow... I fear for both of them, instead of ignoring the tantrum and it's over he shouts when she screams- to which she screams louder and so it's a vicious circle. If I was there, then i'd feel I had to give her some sympathy as he does sometimes go over boardand forgets that she isn't even two yet!!! Don't know who to feel most sorry for tommorrow- him or her...!

appyday · 15/07/2006 13:27

Cori glad your DD got there in the end, even if it was in her nappy. Don't have that problem with our DD as she has a typical toddlers fascination with poos telling us whether they're small, big, huge, stinky etc.
Re bush dilemma, Have been trimming with the aid of a mirror but too difficult now, so DH will have to take over again, he went into shock last time when I told him, but I can't let strangers see me with overgrown shrubbery.
Had lovely morning, DD stayed at MIL's last night and DH at work, I had FREE TIME! Anyway DD here gotta go

muminaquandary · 15/07/2006 15:15

love the way we're all sharing our hairy scary dilemmas - all I can say is, "hair free, care free"

re Aug babies, I know that the law is not until 5 BUT a lot of schools (independent or state) are very inflexible on this & take a lot of persuading. Sometimes it has to up to LEA level & even then you are not sure of the result you want .... also would hate to jump thru all those hoops to get no. 2 in for mornings only & for it then to have a potentially -ve impact as teachers think of him / her as a "problem" ... so almost 100% decided changing date is the best thing

claire mow re my thread - I started it in parenting, >1 wk ago I think, I will look for it and post link if I can. not very tecchie

muminaquandary · 15/07/2006 15:18

myoldthread

muminaquandary · 15/07/2006 15:19

wow! I posted a link!!!!! successfully!!!!!!!!!

pol26 · 15/07/2006 16:03

Think DP would die if I asked him to 'bush-trim'...

Re: potty training my sisters DD does and poo on the potty often with her sister sat next to her (they are 3 and 2... ) they both sit on their potties and hold hands and 'grunt' together giving each other encouragement... then inspect often comparing sizes! The DD who is 3 often pipes up 'mine is as big as wally the whale!' Potty training is hard work but quiet funny!

Coriander73 · 15/07/2006 16:18

LOL appyday re your bush dilema!!! Had to tell MIL & DH as am in MIL kitchen checking MN & just couldn't stop laughing!!! Potty training day 3....she peed in the cheese aisle in Sainsburys this morning but a kind memeber of staff rose to the occasion & went off to find a mop as I changed her knickers!! I have to say that people up here (Staffs) as so so friendly, much more so than down South & I'm a Londoner by birth although haven't lived there for 15 years now (would never go back ever!). Still hasn't pooed today....MIL says don't stress or let her know your stressed & it'll come good...... hey ho!

I'm waking two/three times at night to pee....wake every time I have to roll over...what I'd give to sleep on my tummy!!!!!! Tried sitting under the shade outside but it's too bloody hot.....it must be wonderful to have a winter baby...DD was born at exactly the same time of year, oh why didn't I learn the first time??!!!!!

liquidclocks · 15/07/2006 16:45

The summer of 2004 was NOT this hot!!! Am off to hide in the corner with a ice lolly where DS wn't find me...

tassis · 15/07/2006 16:58

try sitting with feet in paddling pool...lovely

(yes, it's hot in Scotland too!)

Will be back to catch up properly later, haven't really been aroung this week.

clairemow · 15/07/2006 19:07

Goodness MIAQ - just read your other thread. I agree totally with what the others on the thread said. Horrible situation. Hanging on to the hope that it might not be true...

Really hot here today. I did the 1 mile run (ha ha, walk!) this morning with DS in the buggy. DH ran and then came back to meet me, by which time I was nearly at the end! DS wore my one red sock all the way round. How did you get on in the Sutton one, Topbanana?

Nothing much else happening here. Going for a swim in a bit as I feel I need to relax, and our gym has a great outdoor pool that gets the last of the sun until about 8.30. Sigh.

Re summer 2004, I do remember DS going to bed in just a nappy when he was tiny quite a bit that summer, and watching wimbledon with a fan on (those were the days before mobility...). Perhaps it just feels so much hotter today with the bumps and extra weight.

Coriander73 · 15/07/2006 19:41

Summer 2004....the week DD was born (4th Sep) there was a mini heatwave....I spent the August on the sofa feeling hot eating ice cubes but yes would have to agree that before then it wasn't as hot as it is now!!

muminaquandary · 15/07/2006 20:56

Summer 2003 was the real heatwave .... luckily we have shade in our garden now, didn't before!!

cmow other thread was just a response to feeling I had to TALK about it but not in RL, just couldn't risk it ..... anyway whatever happened it is horrible for them, cross fingers all well in the end .... but I am now definitely going to continue following my instincts where children are concerned ....

calvemjoe · 15/07/2006 21:31

Summer 2003 was the last big heatwave, was 8 weeks pg with ds and felt like I was spaced out the whole time!

Hope you're all looking after your bumps x

pol26 · 15/07/2006 22:27

Not been toooooo hot here as we have had a breeze which has cooled it down. But they say 33degrees on Monday- how will we ladies cope??? I cannot deal with that het and am going to be a recluse that day.

On the foxes front... she actually has two babies (very sweet but vicious) and going to call the RSPCA on Monday and see what they suggest as can't let DD out there as she growls and snarls... DD is also convinced they are dogs and so 'woofs' at them and expects them to be nice as aunties dog is lovely.

And having a DD free day tomorrow... the first in nearly two years! Yeah. Feeling pleasurably guilty as it is a 'me' day! DP is also taking her to see his mum (which fills me with dread) but i'm sure DD will love it.

Only one huge tantrum today! Yeah!!! bad news is that she has learned to scream, and I mean scream!!! It is driving me mad as she does short sharp high pitched girlie screams. Not sure how long my ear drums will take it.

mabel1973 · 15/07/2006 22:34

Hi

not managed to get on for a few days.
Midwife turned up on thurs (eventually) I spoke to her about the accunpuncturist refusing to treat me and she said 'oh that's my fault I'm such a bozo(!) - I referred you to the wrong hospital' Am at my wits end with this woman she is incompetant - thank god it's not my 1st and thank god my sciatica is not as bad as it was with DS or I'd have cried right there and then.
DH is getting over his shingles, but is on 9 different tablets a day and they are wiping him out
Mandaz - don't know if you made a decision about a breast pump, but I have used the medala mini electric, which I thought was supposed to be one of the best, but it was noisy, slow and it broke down eventually and I had to send it back. I borrowed an Avent Isis hand pump and found this much better.
Pol - your DH sounds excatly like mine is with DS, he cannot get his head round the way he behaves sometimes - I have to remind him he is 19 months old - he does not think logically, you cannot reason with him like an adult!
Re: the trimming debate. I immaced last time and found the re-growth a bit of nightmare - haven't decided what to do yet - I think waxing would be, although painful in the short term, more comfortable in the long run.
Cori - i remember summer 2004 was V. hot! - I was pg with DS, and sat in a paddling pool on our very dry yellow crusty lawn sucking ice lollies to keep cool.

mabel1973 · 15/07/2006 22:39

Pol - just read your post - had to laugh, when my DS and neighbours DS who is a year older, get together, they have taken to chasing each other and squealing (like girls!) or sometimes just standing squealing at each other. I am surprised our neighbours haven't complained to environmental health about the noise!

clairemow · 16/07/2006 09:56

Also have a yeller at times - we go to the gym every tuesday afternoon, and DS and his two little friends run around the squash courts going "aaaarrrrrhhhhh" while we try and get them off. I'm surprised we're not banned.. Then they have tea, and bang their feet on the high chairs in unision, cackling with laughter. Manners?? No way.

33 degrees on Monday? Bloody hell.

Having a DH and DS free morning - they've gone to the zoo, and I am lounging about, although my lie in ended when DS kindly tried to "give" me a glass of water, which he poured all over the pillow, sheet, and me. Nothing like a good cold dousing in the morning...

MIAQ, good point about the schools, guess I should find out how our local primary deals with it. Wish they had a January intake - that would be ideal. I know some places do.

dreamydowler · 16/07/2006 12:11

hello all hope everyone coping with this heat.Im stuck in today clearing kitchen out before it is redecorated tomorrow hopefuly could do with sitting in a pool though with a long cool drink

mandaz · 16/07/2006 12:50

Thanks again for all the advice on the bf/expressing etc. I haven't bought anything yet but am looking forward to having a shopping spree soon!

It's so hot today! I really can't bear the heat so am sat inside whilst everyone else is outside. I have discovered Toffee Crisp ice creams though (box of 4 for a £1 at morrisons) which are just too nice. Am trying to be good and not eat the lot

It dawned on me today that it's just 8 weeks now till my due date. How scary is that? And do I feel prepared/ready? Do I heck! Hmmm, maybe a nesting instinct will kick in at some point and I'll go racing round getting everything ready. Certainly not in this heat though!

Hope everyone is ok and Lo's are all behaving. My Lo is still quite active, moving around quite a bit, especially at night. I'm also having to go to the loo 2-3 times during the night but am getting used to it now.

muminaquandary · 16/07/2006 13:57

hello all & dreamy - plsed to see you are on both AUg & Sept too!! hope w/e is going well for everyone.

Quick q: would I be mad to get a puppy at same time as having baby? Really sad, my PIL's got a Springer Spaniel in April & they have had to admit they are not coping ... absolutely no pressure on us to take it but I would feel so guilty if it went to the RSPCA
