Hey all,

Everyone seems all fed up with the heat and ready for 40 weeks and nmeeting their bubba's!!!

I too am pondering the 'down below' situation...? And wondering if left unattended is better or taking some off or all..... hummmmm very undecided and as I can't see anything past my belly button it makes it even harder to decide. Last time whipped alot off but the stubble regrowth annoyed me when had DD so unsure and i know i'm too wimpy when preg to go and get a wax done. Seems my pain threshold goes to none exsistent when I have a bubba in my tum.

Not so hot here today and DD had been an angel as I have felt soooo tired and been nodding off on the sofa while she has played with her new ponies that I brought her yesterday. All i've heard this morning is her clip clopping them round the lounge and neiging- in a fashion at me.

Also DP has become a bit of a gambler since the world cup. He put £10 in a ladbrookes internet account and has still got some left... maybe betting is his forte! He had put his last £1.53 on the irish lottery to close the account and the £1 bet won him something like £7 and the 53p won him £114!!!! Needless to say I had treated him towards his nintendo ds and I would like a little treat too!

mandaz · 13/07/2006 16:01

Thanks for all the bf/bottle comments, I've found them all really useful. I am going to try to express so I can do a bit of both. Can anyone advise which is better, the hand expressing machines or the electric ones and which brands are good? Also, what other equipment do you need to go with it all, other than bottles and a steriliser?

Liquid - I did get the GF book but as yet haven't got past the first couple of pages. Things have been a bit hectic! I'm sure it tells you everything in there and i will definitely try to read it before LO is due but am grateful for advise in the meantime!

I got my first lot of freebies through from the Boots parenting club. I had tried to join ages ago but for some reason my details hadn't registered. I felt a bit naughty going in and getting all this free stuff. I actually felt like I should make an effort and buy something so I bought a £1.25 baby sponge and got everything else free! It was fab. I'm looking forward to the Huggies set - can anyone tell me what it consists of? They show a changing bag on the picture, if that's included I won't need to buy one!

Hi Everyone! I haven't had chance to post for ages, been dead busy. Everything is going fine with me, 3 weeks left at work, 4 weeks till my driving test and baby due in 9 weeks
Haven't seen my midwife in quite a few weeks now. Had a slight dissagreement about been kept waiting for over an hour, ended up walking out and haven't been back since! Oh well, I'm sure the baby is fine.
I'm a little bit worried about Sunday. I'm doing the race for life in Sutton and its going to be really hot. Any tips on what I should/shouldn't do? I'm only walking it by the way!
LOL at the trimming the hair stuff it hadn't even crossed my mind, wondering what to do now!

compo · 13/07/2006 19:40

Hi everyone. Back from our hols. Tried to catch up with a week's worth of posts but it's not easy!! Welcome to ezridax and fingers crossed for Lysettes and Hellkat keeping those lo's in a bit longer
I've got acid indigestion really badly now. Has anyone any tips? I'm using Gaviscon but it tastes horrid!! Have got a few stretch marks on my breasts of all places. Feel like a beached whale and can't wait til September!!

muminaquandary · 13/07/2006 19:44

feeling guilty about not posting here too . but so much to read hardly have the time to post afterwards - also started a mini thread of my own on chat re how you feel about other parents instinctively as something really wierd happened to me & DH recently with another couple we know ......

anyway, I might be well & truly back into Sept as have been stressing about having a baby young for its year group at school so will try to push c/section back into September rather than 29/8

pol26 · 13/07/2006 19:50

I have really bad acid too... and drinking gaviscon like an alchie... I have a huge bottle in my bag which I have to swig at intervals, i'm sure ppl think i'm swigging a bottle of something stronger!

I find drinking ice cold water and eating bananas are doing me a little better but nothing gets rid of it all together.

compo · 13/07/2006 19:53

Thanks Pol It's horrid isn't it? I wanted to eat all this yummy food on holiday and pig out on chocolate etc but everything just made me feel so sick and ill !!

Clairemow congrats on a nappyfree day at nursery, our DD also managed to stay dry all day and they were really surprised at her as well.
Cori sounds like you're starting potty training whether you're ready or not! Have to say feel a bit 2 steps forwards and 1 back, potty training brill but after 3 or 4 good nights even the temptation of stickers and presents isn't enough to keep DD quiet and in bed. Nearly 2 hours since started winddown and she's still crying.Oh wel, it's all practice for the baby I suppose.

Coriander73 · 14/07/2006 09:52

appyday, day 2, only one wee accident yesterday but she still hasn't pooed which is most unusual! Friend of mine says it shows she's controlling her bowels etc but I'm worried she's holdng it in as she scared / apprehensive of pooing into potty???? Don't know what to do....any advice? So far so good with weeing & this morning she's been in her knickers & all OK so we're not going to stop but would just like her to POO!!!

Going back to baby, didn't have any movements late last night & onto this morning so started to panic. At which point DH gave me ice cold water & sure enough the lo moved!! 31 weeks today & counting....

puppy · 14/07/2006 09:59

hiya

Mandaz, I got the freebies last week, the huggy changing bag is included and it comes with a changing mat and a few bits and pieces like a small pack of tissues, nappy cream sample etc.

Topbanana, I have got no tips but good luck for sunday.

I have been using gaviscon tablets that you chew, they are like eating chalk, the only other thing I do to is drink milk which seems to help me.

Ok spoke to DH about the comment he made and he has apologised, he said he only mentioned it because I had previously and thought that was what I wanted and that he would support me with it, (which was before I got pregnant and while watch a plastic surgery programme), he thought I was being serious. So I don't feel so offended now, just a misunderstanding.

Its really sunny here but not so hot at the moment, just right.

Only two weeks to work , I am really ready for it as tiredness has kicked in again.

liquidclocks · 14/07/2006 10:17

For those of you having 'trimming' dilemmmas - it used to be standard procedure in the 'olden days' to shave everyone completely down there! - they stopped doing it because it was proved to be a myth that it was more hygenic. Personally - I'd value comfort above all else so I'm going au natural with no qualms ! I'll have enough to deal with when I have a tear, swollen boobs, jelly for a tummy... need I go on!!!?

muminaquandary · 14/07/2006 10:38

I am going in to see consultant re my c/section next Tuesday ... I will ask for all of us & see if I get a straight answer ... definitely getting it waxed if it needs done tho'! will take longer to grow back so less issues with itching etc

homemama · 14/07/2006 13:47

I've got a waxing booked for next wk then for 39wks so as there's such a gap between the two I hope lo doesn't come before the second appointment otherwise I'll be very hairy! I usually have quite a thorough bikini wax which takes a lot off underneath (sorry if TMI) and last time I found it really nice to be hair free down there after the birth. I may bring it forward a few days actually otherwise DH will be calling me Yetti!

Sorry if I sounded like I was ranting yesterday about bf/expressing and dummies. As said before you've really got to do what's best for you and your baby. Mandaz, I used a hand one made by Tomy Tippee and got on very well with it but then I produced copious amounts of milk so didn't have a problem expressing. Also, re dummies. It may well be that your baby doesn't need one which is great but if your baby stays on the breast for up to 18hours in the day as DS was then it may save your sanity and help any routine you are following.

I've started using bio oil too. A friend who'd had a previous csection said it was fantastic for easing scar itching and preventing stretchmarks. Even if it's doing nothing it feels nice on my tummy.

calvemjoe · 14/07/2006 18:34

Hey everyone hope you're all ok in this heat. We got our phil and teds today and I love it apart from going up steps, putting downwards pressure on the handle is really hurting my pubic bone

I didn't really find bio oil to be that great, scar itched for over a year afterwards anyway and still isn't healed, but didn't use it during pg so you may get better results with that.

Well I'm off to bath ds, no rest for the wicked x

dreamydowler · 14/07/2006 19:35

hello everyone Im actually due at the very end august 30th/31st depending on whether you ask hospital or midwife but thought Id introduce myself on here in case I go overdue This is my 7th child my others range from 18 down to three baby is a girl who will be called Sophie jane and I live in the North west not far from Chester zoo I am 33 weeks pregnant at the moment but am measuring nearly 36 Im being monitered regularly for diabetes and have a growth scan in 3 weeks as my last baby was 9lb 1oz I have group B strep also so have to be hooked up to antibiotics in labour which im hoping wont be long as hoping gravity with such a big baby will help

clairemow · 14/07/2006 19:55

hi Dreamydowler, nice to see you here!

cori, has DS done a poo yet? We're still doing really well on the wee front, but all poos in nappies during nap times and first thing in the morning.

also bought a phil and teds yesterday - found a really good price at a little shop in Clevedon - just in case anyone else is in the West country. Beat kiddicare.com. I really like it too, and am surprised how small it folds up.

Muminaquandry, I'm with you on the waxing... let us know what the consultant says!! Interesting what you said about young for school year baby - I'm hoping my section (if I go for it...) will be end of August rather than September - not sure which is worse, a child going to school early, or one who's ready to go 6 months before they can go. I have heard that by law they don't have to be in school full time until the term they're 5 (or something), so if they are August babies, they could go mornings only to start with. Don't know if this is right though.

Hope everyone has a good, painfree weekend, and not too much swelling in the heat!! Lysettes, thinking of you - how are you getting on?

pol26 · 14/07/2006 20:24

Hello ladies!!!

At last tonight feels cool! Even put DD to bed in her summer gro bag and a pj top. Even feel like shutting the lounge window- it must be cool!!!

Even tho it is cool i'm still soooooo swollen and getting really annoyed by the fact only one pair of shoes fit me now.

Hoping everyone holds on to their bundles over the weekend! Legs crossed

Still undecided with the whole 'bush' dilemma... What to do?!

Coriander73 · 14/07/2006 20:31

Hi Clairemow,

We finally had a poo but in her nappy after her afternoon sleep! Quite relived actually...!! The weeing is going well, all in potty bar two but we're spending so much time outdoors I figure that's not a bad thing (i.e she pees on the lawn or paddling pool etc!). We're staying with my in-laws for the weekend & MIL has been really supportive.

Bush dilema.....LOL!! This time around I don't know what to do. After my disaster with DH clippers last time around wont go that route again but don't know whether I can hack a wax being so large?!!!! In the end had an emergency section as you most of you know & they shaved me anyhow!!!!!!

dreamydowler · 14/07/2006 20:54

lol re bushes Ive never had a waxing before but as I cant reach anymore it sounds tempting is it very embarrassing and more importantly is it very painful?

1Baby1Bump · 14/07/2006 20:57

not in relation to current topic but i have had radiating backache all day, like i had when in labour with ds1 and i'm not due till the 6sep.
ive been a bit achy and heavy feeling in my lower belly too.
any ideas?
ds1 was a week early but this cant be labour?

dreamydowler · 14/07/2006 21:13

it could be pelvic pain it sounds very similar to the pains I get with psd you can ask your mw to refer you to physio if it persists they give you a support belt which lifts your bump and eases lower back ache and aches under your bump

clairemow · 14/07/2006 21:29

hi Cori, glad to hear about the poo! I'm not sure what we'll be able to do about DS's pooing habits - always before we go in in the morning, and sometimes over lunch sleep. I did think maybe we should install a potty in the room once he's more sure what he's doing, but can you imagine the stink??!?! It's bad enough contained in a nappy. Da-de-dah...

Dreamydowler, yes waxing is painful - when I'm not pregnant, I take a nurofen before going.!!... I am a bit nervous about this too.... It's less painful when the hair is short, so might be worth a trim before the appointment (can just imagine asking DH to perform a "trim".... maybe the waxing lady will do it). Oh god, it's just not fair is it, we get all the hassle - waxing AND childbirth...

pol26 · 14/07/2006 21:33

That is why i'm not opting for the wax- IT HURTS I am going to try to trim short and obviously have a little side trim... Although i'm sure they have seen worse! And it's bad enough letting everyone peer up your wot-not without having to worry about pain, bush design etc...

As for the back ache... that was what my labour was like with DD. I have had a few back twinges and felt scared- it's brought back all those pains! Maybe talk to your mw if it carries on.

Coriander73 · 14/07/2006 21:38

Pol..wot-not!!!! Haven't heard that for ages

clairemow · 14/07/2006 21:42

Muminaquandry, I've been looking for your other intriguing thread - can't find it - can you tell me?
