Just back from a lovely relaxing holiday and trying to catch up on nearly 2 weeks of thread but I keep getting distracted by cake... Will have to get baking at the weekend now we finally have a kitchen and an oven that works Grin Not the smoothest first day back at work so far - cake is needed!!

Sorry to hear some of you are still feeling rough.

EeyoreIsh · 11/09/2013 12:40

Can I join in the bump day = sick day Sad I haven't felt like this for ages. I could have killed the person who ate an overripe banana at the desk next to me. I don't even want my normal chicken noodle soup.

The pregnancy hormones are definitely coming out! I snapped at a guy on the train next to me as he kept leaning into me whilst talking to his friend. I was so stroppy! I must admit, part of me does like the new 'don't give a shit' me Grin

Laura, we must due the same time Smile

jazz, I wonder if you're near me on the south coast. I'm still a Londoner at heart though, having lived there for ten years and I still work there. I don't know how I'll cope on maternity leave without regular London fixes.

Julietee · 11/09/2013 14:08

Hi!
I'm due Feb 21st.
... I'm impatient for my bump to materialise properly!

ch1134 · 11/09/2013 14:21

Just back from 20 week scan and all fine. Didn't find out the gender.

LovesToBake · 11/09/2013 14:24

Just back from my 16 week appointment, heard the heartbeat which was nice. Also told the midwife I'm keen for a home birth so she's referring me to our hospital's home birth team which is exciting. Apparently they will probably take over my antenatal care and come and do the remaining appointments at my house - bonus!

Also pointed out that my due date should be 20th Feb (not 21st Feb as per my notes) so she changed it - one day closer!

tiegysmum · 11/09/2013 14:29

Hi All! Just back from our 20 week scan and all is well with the baby, only thing is my placenta is lying low and anterior... Wondered if anyone else has this or had it in prior pregnancies? This is my third pregnancy but haven't really got a clue what it is, fighting the urge to google it and probs scare myself to death!! Have to say the sonographer didn't seem all that concerned just said that she would arrange another appt about 36 weeks x

Rehune · 11/09/2013 16:04

Hi guys, joining half way through - hope nobody minds. Was with my group from the very beginning for DD1 who is just over 2yrs old now. But with a relocation from London to Birmingham, new house, looking for a new job etc etc, have not found time for a birth club. And I miss this to be honest - especially in a new city where I don't know anyone. Hmm Anyway, happy to meet you all and I'm 18 weeks tomorrow xx

LittlePandaBear · 11/09/2013 16:46

Welcome Rehune - I'm also 18 weeks tomorrow! We are all a nice bunch, just say whatever's on your mind (I think we talk cakes more these days than babies Grin)!

Great news for those with 20 week scans - tiegysmum if the sonographer wasn't worried then I'm sure there's no need for you to. In fact I think with my DD I was told my placenta was low but I had another scan at 24 weeks for other reasons and suddenly it was fine, so it's probably common.

marzipanned · 11/09/2013 16:58

Welcome Rehune :)

Great news about lovely heartbeats and scans.

The doctor said the blood is nothing to worry about and very common in such vomit-y situations. He suggested I stay on daily meds for now but trying cutting pills in half to reduce dose.

I have to say, having heard some women's horror stories about getting meds prescribed for HG, I feel incredibly lucky that all the doctors I've met have been completely understanding and wonderful.

Loves that is really exciting about the home birth stuff! I don't dare do it this time, but I'm hoping next time (if there is a next time, and if all goes well this time...) Will be great to hear about your experiences.

winterflowers · 11/09/2013 17:06

Good news about the scans everyone. ..very reassuring. I wouldn't worry abt the low lying placenta, I think I read this happens quite a lot but as it all grows then the placenta moves up and it's all fine. As little says, if the sonographer isn't worried then you shouldn't be either.

Going to see a house later as desperate to buy somewhere before baby arrives and I become entirely unmortgagable and spend all my money on cute outfits and toys

misskatamari · 11/09/2013 17:21

Awww so lovely to hear about the scans! I am counting the days until Monday when I have mine. I just want to know what i'm having so I can finally buy something!

Need to scroll back up and find the sponge pudding recipe too as I've been thinking about it with custard all day!!! Gosh I really could just sit and eat all day at the moment! Have been very good at work and actually been eating fruit tho so I think I deserve a big wodge of stodge!

Rehune · 11/09/2013 18:16

After being soooo good during first pregnancy I have been downing a can of coke a day during this one. Feel terribly guilty but it was the only thing that helped with the sickness (which was worse second time around!) also I was a size 6 before DD1 and barely showing at 18 weeks. This time, it's like I took the test and then BAM hello bump! Anyone else?

Milkandtwo · 11/09/2013 18:36

Hi Rehune! We have a Facebook page for sharing bump pics - send me your email (that you use in Facebook) so I can find you and add you, if you want to join. It's private so you can't find it and no-one else can see your posts. This is DC1 for me but I have a huge bump compared to most (at 18+5) and had a six pack before I got up the spout. I am actually really freaked out by how fast my body shape has changed so enormously, it's such a weird thing to get used to! My boob are 32G now and giving me chronic neck pains. WTF will happen when my milk comes in?!

jazzcat28 · 11/09/2013 19:02

Am sat in pizza hut takeaway waiting for my dinner just me and another preggo... trouble is she looks about 8 months and I just look fat

vix206 · 11/09/2013 19:14

Hi Rehune. Yes I was the same with the instant bump this time round. A friend guessed before I was even 6 weeks pregnant!! Shock

fatasbutter · 11/09/2013 19:19

Hello!
Anyone mind if I join in too?? I've been a bit shy due to 2 miscarriages recently but finally plucking up courage to accept that at 17+4 things might be real!
Have been meaning to join for ages Hi buddy!
So glad to hear people having good scans, and relieved I'm not the only one still exhausted all the time too!!

fatasbutter · 11/09/2013 19:21

Oh jazzcat I'm the same! I have a soft bump of just fat!!! It's a bit different with the second one!

lyndsey90 · 11/09/2013 19:24

Wow, I've been gone a while

Good to know everyone's scans are going well, mine is 30th September and I will be finding out the sex if possible.

My bump is definitely showing now, people keep making comments about my 'small bump' which makes the day go by nicely :)

My energy is slowly retuning which is AMAZING because I've been tired for like 17 chuffin weeks!

It's going bloody fast now I think!

17+4

DawnOfTheDee · 11/09/2013 19:40

Hello newbies and welcome! Smile

tiegysmum - low lying placenta can be a problem if it covers or partially covers the cervix. If this is still the case late in pg i think you'd need a c-section However usually the placenta can start off low down but as things develop move up so as not to be a problem. That's what should happen and what they'll be looking for at the later scan. I think it's called placenta previa (sp?) but as i say in most cases it rights itself.

EeyoreIsh · 11/09/2013 20:08

welcome to the newbies Smile

I've just been for drinks with colleagues which was lovely but I must admit I'm starting to worry. I still haven't felt any kicks (19+3) and no one guessed I was pregnant even though I drank soft drinks and wore a pregnancy dress. someone thought I was in the first trimester, and everyone said my bump looked like a normal tummy Sad

I'm silly to be stressing right? It's just because I'm tall so baby has lots of space to stretch out in?

Anyway, when I get home I'll post a pic of my bump but it is certainly smaller than the others so far.

LovesToBake · 11/09/2013 20:11

Eeyorish if you're tall then I'm sure your explanation is spot on. A friend of mine is tall and athletic and she never had a big bump with both of her pregnancies and could easily pass for not pregnant well into the second trimester, sounds a lot like you. Presumably your 20w scan is very soon so hope that reassures you.

Do anyone else's nipples really hurt when it's cold? I was walking through waitrose freezer aisle yesterday and my nipples hurt so much I thought I'd find them unattached when I looked! And the same today when it was cold and I was doing the school run at work....ouchy!

laura0007 · 11/09/2013 21:18

Ooh how exciting! Just laid on the sofa watching TV and I felt the baby kicking, so pulled my trousers down a bit and I could see my tummy moving where the kicks were!!! GrinGrinGrinGrinGrin Amazing!!!
