Just catching up with the new thread after being away in deepest, darkest Wales visiting in-laws for nearly a week. Could barely cope with no internet access but I've made up for it since being back.

All the scan/gender news is very exciting. I have my 20wk scan tomorrow but don't intend to find out gender at this stage. May be swayed once we're in there but really loved the surprise last time round.

Sorry to hear all those still suffering with sickness/pain/insomnia. I'm on iron tablets and still feel like death from lack of sleep so who knows what I'd be like without them. Had a very vivid dream the other night that a friend from school (who I haven't seen in 20 years) was trying to fix me up with Steve Davis (snooker player of yester-year) and I was quite pleased by this. Would like to state that I have never nor will ever fancy Steve Davis. Pregnancy is weird!

18+6 today

DawnOfTheDee · 10/09/2013 19:33

I had my 20 week scan today and it's an......erm....hmmmm....ummm....not sure....maybe a girl?....hmmmm....no....not sure.

Grrrrrr.......

Anyway, they also couldn't get one of the measurements as baby was in a wriggly mood (but wouldn't wriggle the right way...whatever it is it's contrary) so I've got another scan a week on thursday. At least I get another scan so hopefully they'll be able to tell the sex then. If not i think i'd pay for a private scan.

Everything looks ok though - my placenta is not low lying which is v good news. Apparently this can be a problem if you've had a previous c-section. All measurements (the ones they could get) are in the normal range so if i want to go for a natural birth this time, which i do, all is looking good! Smile

I LOVE great british bake-off!!! and i'm totally in for a group baking/eating session. I'm in Leeds though and I think most other peeps are daaaaaarn saaaaarf. Grin

misskatamari · 10/09/2013 19:43

Lol Chocco that dream sounds hilarious! Awww dawn it's a shame you didn't manage to find out the sex today - hopefully you can next time. Great news that baby is healthy tho. I'm in Stockport so another northerner Smile (went to uni in Leeds which was fab!)

Awwww milk so exciting to be feeling kicks. Like lots of the other ladies I'm still not sure if I've felt any yet. I Ry occasional "hmmm maybe that was one" feelings but nothing that makes me positive that's what it is. Hopefully ill well all be having proper ones soon Grin

DawnOfTheDee · 10/09/2013 19:45

Well they did say 'maybe a girl' and the chinese gender prediction thingy said girl too so i'm going with that! Grin

misskatamari · 10/09/2013 19:46

Holy crap I just got up from the sofa and its so hard to walk as my left bum cheek is so bloody sore! I'm gonna have to try and sit down a bit more at work tomorrow and see if that helps Hmm and try and book an arse massage! Lol

DawnOfTheDee · 10/09/2013 19:47

Also yay for the north! I'm not from this side of the Pennines really though....I'm Blackpool born and bred Grin

DawnOfTheDee · 10/09/2013 19:49

lol @ 'arse massage'

I think only a particular type of establishment offers that sort of thing...Wink

gnittinggnome · 10/09/2013 20:02

missk have you tried sitting on a tennis ball? It was part of my physio for sciatica, you basically get a tennis ball between your hard chair and the sorest part of your bum cheek and move around - it's kind of a deep-tissue massage and may be uncomfortable whilst you're actually sat on it but can release tension - it's called myofascial release (I'm told). Weird, but it works for sore/tense/battered muscles.

winterflowers · 10/09/2013 20:04

Dawn that's great everything looks ok AND you get to see baby again next week!

Miss K I'm exactly the same but on the right...end up lying down a lot but work kind of impedes that. You should defo try and get off your feet a bit tho

LovesToBake · 10/09/2013 20:04

Pettyprudence I love you! Just whipped up a microwave golden syrup sponge pudding using your recipe and eating with custard while watching GBBO! Will post a photo on FB. Am also craving stodgy puddings, custard especially and also want cheese sauce on all of my veg!

EeyoreIsh · 10/09/2013 20:06

gah my baking and jam making has not happened tonight as I'm too tired. I came home early from work and went straight to bed. DH tempted me out of bed with chilli and bake off, then I'm going back to bed.

my 20 week scan is next Tuesday Grin I'm team yellow so hoping nothing is too obvious at the scan.

19+2 today.

Bearfrills · 10/09/2013 20:06

Oh my god, I would totally be up for an arse massage if you can find a non-dodgy place that does them! And my definition of 'non-dodgy' is rather loose anyway. I'm seeing the ante-natal Physio in two weeks for sciatica and a dodgy knee, is it the done thing to ask her about it? Wink

Loving all the bump pictures and congratulations on the scans! Three weeks on Friday until mine but we've got it all worked out. We'll keep DS off school and all go together, then have a nice lunch somewhere and argue discuss names, then go buy some bits (we never buy anything until after the 20wk scan but our tradition is to buy the coming home outfit once we've had it) and finally have our tea in town before coming home for a DVD. Sort of a nice day as a foursome to celebrate becoming a fivesome.

DH's birthday today, he wants Krispy Kremes instead of a birthday cake. It's such a tough job having to sit here, feet up, eating a doughnut, but someone has to do it :o

Sassy20 · 10/09/2013 20:09

Dawn - I'm in Leeds too. If you want to do the baking i can do the eating!!! Smile

Camwombat · 10/09/2013 20:09

I'm a southerner living in the north (just north of Newcastle), so I'm clearly lost! Wink

Have just been thinking id give the tennis ball a go gnitting. I got some ages ago as Physio recommended for when I had a bad lower back but I tried it on the floor and just couldn't make it work so will try on a chair. Don't know why I tried it on the floor to be honest!

Awww bear your scan day plans sound so lovely Grin. In terms of Physio I think they often do bum massages - but obvs call it "glutes". Luckily I know my massage lady quite well so will just say "my arse hurts please make it not hurt" and she should get to work - if she can find a way to do it without be lying on my belly.

Champagne glad you slept well but sorry you're feeling crap now. You should stuff your top for your commute and wear one if those Slogan tops that says "hands off my bump" or something similar and hope people get the message, cheeky buggers.

misskatamari · 10/09/2013 20:22

Oh, have you ladies all had risk assessments done at work too? The bursar at my place emailed me some form when I was signed off but I just saved it and thought it wasn't something I actually did myself - or am I wrong? Surely they do the risk assessment?

DawnOfTheDee · 10/09/2013 20:23

You're on Sassy20!

Didn't realise there were this many other northerners about - tis a good thing Smile

Littleen · 10/09/2013 20:25

My bum is so itchy and irritated and tickly! On the inside! what is the little creature doing in there?!

EeyoreIsh · 10/09/2013 20:27

misskatamari I sent my boss the hr guidelines on pregnancy and explicitly said in the email that he needed to do a risk assessment. He's not been arsed to do it yet, I'd do it myself but I want him to see the bit about stress Angry

DawnOfTheDee · 10/09/2013 20:31

My bum is so itchy and irritated and tickly! On the inside!

^^Rrrrrrrwow! We are some sexy momma's on here! Grin

jazzcat28 · 10/09/2013 20:36

misskatamari I had to do my own risk assessment, including identifying all the risks from a blank form! A quick Google helped me on my way but given my senior managers are men in their 50s I think I'd prefer to do it myself anyway. They are all a bit awkward around me and can't stop checking out my bump/boobs Hmm

I was told by HR I had to do the risk assessment again at 20wks and then every 4-6 weeks until I go on ML. If things change (e.g. SPD or similar) then do it again.

DH's 45 day redundancy consultation period officially started today Sad
