Looks like we need another new thread Blush- we've been rather busy!

Up to date (ish) Stats thread here:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/a1694946-September-2013-STATS-THREAD

As previously- Welcome newbies! If anyone wants to join the Facebook group (better for sharing documents and pictures- especially picture of gorgeous babies), please message myself or jennimoo with your real life name and email address and we can add you to the group!

Bring on the irritating texts from family members and best friends to find out whether you've had your babies or not (like you wouldn't tell them.....), more weird and disgusting labour symptoms, more internal examinations than you can shake a stick at, and LOTS OF BABIES!

Ooh good luck yellowhat!

Flo I am thinking about doing a cloth trial - there's a fab website called fill your pants which does one... You pay £110 and get a selection of the ones on the market to try. If you likey you can keep the lot, or within 21 days you can send some, or all back and get £100 refund. These ones from 10lb up, so will be getting shortly. I've been using disposable for first 3 weeks so far as didn't want another thing to learn at the start and overwhelm me!

For those ladies having bf issues, hope this reassures you, I struggled loads until about day 16/17 when Squidger and I both seemed to get the hang of each other and it has since been, whilst not lovely, certainly getting much better. Latches almost every time within 2/3 goes and no pain. Had a wobble a couple of days ago when one boob v sore but seems to have settled now. He is now 24 days old and I have a feeling I am going to actually enjoy bf, which is a huge turn up for the books! So please don't despair, it will get better! Flowers

fl0 try this luverly website...

Mooster1709 · 17/09/2013 04:45

bear do you know which bf pillow it was that you tried? A thinking of investing to see if it helps with horrible upper back pain that I've got from hunching over when feeding - DD just too heavy (or i am too weedy) to hold up high enough for a whole feed...

Mooster1709 · 17/09/2013 04:50

ION it's my birthday today, but not really sure how to celebrate with a 2 week old around... A takeaway and a bottle of wine I think.

Yesterday we managed a walk into town and my first go at bf in public though. Am still feeling very proud of myself as had planned to give it a first try with lots of NCT people surrounding me for safety, butDD decided to kick off a million miles from home so I had no choice.

CheeseStrawCraving · 17/09/2013 04:53

Happy birthday! And well done on the bf front! I haven't been brave enough yet. My feeding still involves stripping to bra top so have only managed it at parents and in laws etc... Eek!

fl0b0t · 17/09/2013 05:20

I can't wait to feed in public! He needs to get over his fear of right boob first and latch on and stay on better first asv things are less than graceful at the moment. Happy birthday though!

I found the fill your pants site great, useful reviews, range of nappies and fast delivery and would definitely recommend.

PurplePoppySeed · 17/09/2013 07:02

Have you all tried the nappy lady too? She's based in Farnham, so anyone in the south - it's worth getting in touch as she does demos and also hires out trial packs so you can test before committing Smile

RunningBear - She advised us that you need to do a pre-rinse for all fabric nappies and then wash them at 60 otherwise over time smells etc will build up and you won't be able to get them clean, so I'm just wondering how the 30 wash is working out as I thought 60 seemed high and expensive on elec?

jennimoo · 17/09/2013 07:08

I've used the nappy lady. Great advice and a good range I think. However I've ended up having to cancel an order as there was no stock available and I couldn't wait any longer, although that was years ago now. I'm too impatient to wait a long time...

jennimoo · 17/09/2013 07:14

Babykind is another I've used successfully, although the website can be difficult to get around:
www.babykind.co.uk/

You might guess from the fact I've used every nappy site I had a bit of a cloth nappy addiction last time around... It only works out cheap if you aren't tempted by all the different types, colours, patterns etc... Blush

RunningBear78 · 17/09/2013 08:24

Oh, I did wonder at the 30 degree thing, but can't remember for the life of me where I read it was ok!? Doing fine so far, but we are only on day 3! Will see if I can remember where I read it.
Loved the nappy lady website but all of the things I've wanted have been out of stick. We used natural nursery, who also do trials of nappy types. Live the little lamb microfibre they are sooooooooo fluffy Grin.

might be a dumb question ...how did you get a newborn to lie down on his/her back without it freaking out? Littlebear does NOT enjoy lying on his back at all, no chance of him sleeping on his own at the moment.

Will check the name of the feeding pillow, something like westco, it is a wholesalers but quite cheap.

RunningBear78 · 17/09/2013 08:26

Ps. Littlebear is feeding, and I think his hair is going blond now the birth ick is going Grin

PurplePoppySeed · 17/09/2013 09:02

Good point - we went to one of her demos, so we could buy what was available at the time, but she was out of stock on a few things!

Mooster1709 · 17/09/2013 09:58

Hmm, lying down on their backs... If it's Moses basket aversion (which mini mooster had to begin with) our mw suggested stretching a t-shirt that I'd worn a lot so it smelled like me over the base like a sheet. Or putting some used breast pads in there (lovely). Also suggested warming it up with a hot water bottle first, which I did and it worked. She got used to the idea pretty fast though so it might just be a question of time.

Lovely DH brought me breakfast in bed this morning, and mini-mooster managed to sleep for three-hour stretches all night. So far, so good on the birthday front!

badguider · 17/09/2013 10:42

C slept on his side for the first week. MW in hospital seemed ok with it so we didn't worry. He was very stable like that and wouldn't have rolled onto his front.
Gradually over time his muscles relaxed and he now lies on his back.

on his side in the nct bednest we slept nose to nose which I loved :)

badguider · 17/09/2013 10:57

Health Visitor is coming for the first time today at 12. Hope she's nice... have heard such terrible things on MN about HVs, but I'm sure that most are lovely and very competent. She sounded nice on the phone.

ION I still have awfully sluggish digestion. I wouldn't necessarily go as far as to call it bad constipation but I am not 'regular'. Suspect it's a combo of slight dehydration and being so much less active than even in pregnancy... wondering if I should get my hands on some of this lactulose stuff? Anybody got any opinions?

Mooster1709 · 17/09/2013 11:00

Prune juice!

RunningBear78 · 17/09/2013 11:12

Good advice re using smelly clothes in the moses basket mooster, will have a go!

This was the pillow that was at the bf group, although we couldn't work out if it was a small or large so bought one of each www.wesco-eshop.co.uk/33935020-large-horseshoe-cushion-maxi-pack.html

RacheyMo2 · 17/09/2013 12:55

Glad I've found this thread!!! I'm 39+1 and due on Monday with DS2. For the couple of days my tummy occasionally goes rock hard and I get period like pains, not really painful but uncomfortable for a few minutes! With DS1 I lost my plug at 40+5 and went straight into labour so not sure if what I'm feeling are braxton hicks?
Any advice ladies? X

RacheyMo2 · 17/09/2013 12:56

*for the last couple of days

SamiadsTiredMummy · 17/09/2013 13:37

Hello Grin
Another long time lurker wanting to say hello. I'm due dc2 tomorrow (so some time in the next two weeks).I'm hoping to have a vbac, not at any other point in life would you will on horrendous pain but here's hoping for a spontaneous labour!
Really appreciated all your recent posts, particularly from those of you still playing the most exciting waiting game ever!

SGJ · 17/09/2013 15:16

Welcome ladies! Glad we can be helpful! If you'd like to join our Facebook group, pm Jennimoo who can add you. Lots of people check that more regularly, plus there's lots of lovely baby news and pictures!

Peregrin · 17/09/2013 15:37

Two more false labour episodes since last Tuesday, starting to get blasé about it but I do wonder if this won't just lead me to ignore the real thing!

Total number hours slept since Saturday night, including naps: 4. The obstetrician assures me my body will get the absolute minimum it needs for survival.

PurplePoppySeed · 17/09/2013 16:36

Welcome Rachey and Samiads

Peregrin - Ive been in totally the same boat since Friday - every day leading to a bout of false labour! It just makes you so tired and stressed doesn't it. I'm now finally having real contractions. Had bloody show yesterday am, but did spend yesterday afternoon in the hospital having checks for preeclampsia Angry high BH and headaches blatantly caused by the exhaustion I was feeling from all the false labour goings on and a rather pissed off baby keeping me awake all night after being squeezed all day! On the positive side, it has turned into the real thing - I'm currently on the sofa wrapped up in a dressing gown sitting through the start of labour Confused. MW also said that it will have helped get things going and not be a bad thing.

Rachey - sounds like something between BH and false labour!

RacheyMo2 · 17/09/2013 17:02

Oh no, the things we go through ey!!!
Think I'll add the Facebook group then, thanks :) xxx
