DS announced this morning that baby sister is called Savannah. :)
Had proper milk start to come in on day 4, which is better than I expected having read up that blood loss can slow it down. As soon as the feeds have been more satisfying, she has started being much more alert. She's looking at all the contrasting shadows around the room, looking towards the light of windows, and especially looking up at my face like she's going to have to describe me in detail for a photo-fit later...! This morning there's so much milk I'm dripping from one side while she suckles the other. Nice!
Sympathies on the grapes front... DH has been feeding me fresh fruit slathered in plain yogurt for almost every breakfast. It seems to have helped, well, I've had three or four successful trips to the loo on that front... Used my labour breathing to stop myself tensing up, which worked! We have some lactulose but I haven't used it yet.
The cord came off yesterday. It was looking pretty horrible in the morning, as the not-quite-dried blood was flaking away. There was only a thin part of cord still hanging on but the clasp thing was making it get tugged about a bit. We couldn't see a way to undo it so instead I got micropore tape and held it in place. It was the day 5 MW visit so she had a look and pronounced it ok, then it fell off later in the evening. The weighing went well, my big girl had only lost 60g from her starting weight of 3960g. She really objected to the heel prick procedure, poor love. Not only the stab but the squeezing to get the spots on the card thing. But I'm sure it's all forgotten now. The only immunisation DS really knew what was going on and retained any memory/grudge about was his pre school boosters.
Inlaws visit yesterday was all fine. They spent slightly too long trying to suggest names to us, and weren't too hot on the skills of holding baby properly supported, but it was all fine.
Should probably get out of bed and get dressed now...!
