Looks like we need another new thread Blush- we've been rather busy!

Up to date (ish) Stats thread here:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/a1694946-September-2013-STATS-THREAD

As previously- Welcome newbies! If anyone wants to join the Facebook group (better for sharing documents and pictures- especially picture of gorgeous babies), please message myself or jennimoo with your real life name and email address and we can add you to the group!

Bring on the irritating texts from family members and best friends to find out whether you've had your babies or not (like you wouldn't tell them.....), more weird and disgusting labour symptoms, more internal examinations than you can shake a stick at, and LOTS OF BABIES!

I'm bored of bbc news Wink
Not sure whether it's better to be up for no reason or for feeding/sleeping reasons. Both equally frustrating. Both girls are incredibly sleepy but seemingly incredibly hungry too. And they're tag teaming me - this stint started at 2.30 after me getting to sleep at 1.30. They're being very cute though, I'm just tired!!

kimjayne · 12/09/2013 05:24

well ive not had a show and my waters havent broken .... but I seem to be having contractions. Was initially convinced they were strong braxton hix but after 4 hours solid im starting to think ... this might be the real deal Shock eeeeeeek!!!! wish me luck

Readytosettle · 12/09/2013 06:10

Good luck Kimjayne!

andadietcoke · 12/09/2013 06:18

Good luck kim!!

kimjayne · 12/09/2013 06:26

cheers ready. Im confused by the gaps between contractions at the moment. they are generally 3.5 or 4 mins apart but occasionally I get a longer gap (around 6 mins). is this normal?

kimjayne · 12/09/2013 06:26

cheers dietcoke :)

jennimoo · 12/09/2013 06:28

My cxs were never very regular so I don't think there is a normal. Good luck!

kipsonline · 12/09/2013 06:30

Ooooh Kim let's hope so!
And hang in there flo. My DS1 was like that for first 3 days.. I didn't top up, just kept offering boob v v frequently. He did lose a bit of weight but way less than 10% cut off, then just got it all of a sudden and became an obsessive and efficient feeder, who i bf for 15 mths... Good luck and thinking of you!
And thanks salty and good luck with the creation of DC2 :)

RunningBear78 · 12/09/2013 06:53

Good luck kim!

At the moment I think I would quite like a cute little boy to feed/change/cuddle in the middle of the night, then at least I would have a good excuse and wouldnt mind sleeping through the day as well! ...having said that, I deserve the right to change my mind, if he ever turns up!

fl0b0t · 12/09/2013 07:39

Thanks guys! Can I ask if you did formula top ups? I don't want to but caved in already!

GL kim....! Mine were v regular in the onthe whole then some long and shorter gaps

flo if he's getting plenty of colostrum you probably don't need to. But up to you of course. Go by wet and dirty nappies to reassure you he's getting enough. Don't forget how tiny that tum is.

You may find feeds will lengthen when your milk comes in too. Hang in there, you're doing great.

fl0b0t · 12/09/2013 09:12

Thanks. This was exactly how I felt til evil midwife discharging me suddenly put the fear of God in me. He had had 5 massive meconium pooh s since 5pm yest and a few wet nappies. He is getting some colostrum but not a huge amount but milk is defo coming in today (and leaking all over him, me, the bed etc.

Husband is asleep so iI'm going to pop sleepy baby down and grab a shower!

Waiting for a call from community midwife team about visiting today. Looking forwards to it.

Glad the milks arriving flo :)

MrsMangoBiscuit · 12/09/2013 10:10

Flo, remember that nappies are designed to soak up and hide wee. There could well have been a lot more than you realised. Colostrum/BM is supposed to be fab at helping to flush out meconium, so it sounds like he's getting enough of it to work. If you find now that your milk is in, he struggles to stay latched and cries (not just falls asleep) it might be that your let down is a bit fierce. Sometimes it can be a bit too powerful, and they get a mouthful, and a bit of a shock. Expressing a little bit first can help with that. Oh, and I used to feed till DD dozed off, then changed her, which woke her enough to feed a bit more. Sounds like you're doing great though. Please ignore evil midwife, there's always one! We had one that even scared DH! Evil bat! Grin

RunningBear78 · 12/09/2013 12:10

Oh god, I am so tired and uncomfortable with bump aches and bh I really hope this little bear doesn't decide to make an entrance today, I don't think I would have the energy for it. Just had a shower and need another lie down. This is rubbish!

Part of me is secretly hoping this feeling awful is some secret sign, or that it might be early labour and so hard I haven't noticed, but unfortunately i suspect not. Although I have no idea why I feel so dreadful and tired :(

Mooster1709 · 12/09/2013 14:27

Good luck kim, fingers crossed for you.

Had horrible night of feeding every two hours, then no interest in feeding for nearly 8 hours despite me trying to wake and offer. Just wants to sleep. Managed a couple of five minute feeds but that's all - do you think I should be worried? She's on now but only did a few mins of proper sucking and is now mainly doing fluttery sucks.

jennimoo · 12/09/2013 14:38

How old is your DD, mooster? 8h is quite a long time but if she's a few weeks might be preparing to sleep through for you!

Wibblytummy · 12/09/2013 15:11

Hi all,

I haven't been on the thread in months and months! So very sorry but huge congratulations to all those with their gorgeous arrivals.

May I ask a quick question. Did you all get offered/have the whopping cough jab? After seeing an NHS email saying I should've had it by 38wks (I'd no idea about it prior! Hmm) I panicked and called the midwife. Turns out she forgot to mention/organize it. So I'm having it today at 39+6, which causes no harm to the baby but will give very little chance of passing antibodies on. Am in a bit of a hormonal tizzy now that baby will be at risk! Anyone else had a late/no WC jab?

MrsMangoBiscuit · 12/09/2013 15:41

Wibbly, I didn't have it in the end. My midwife didn't mention it until I asked, and told me I would have to book in with my GP if I wanted it. Although she was pro-jab, she didn't exactly seem enthusiastic. I've had whooping cough, and I've been exposed since. I don't even remember it being an option with DD1, so I'm not panicking about it this time round.

jennimoo · 12/09/2013 16:30

Wibbly - I had to ask for it. I think they're not so fussed about us having it now as the risk has reduced or something. So I had it but wouldn't have worried too much if I hadn't.

Mooster1709 · 12/09/2013 17:26

DD is 2 weeks, She woke for a feed at 5 and is still going though, so I think she's ok.

She's definitely got day and night mixed up if she's thinking of sleeping through though! In fact, does anyone have any tips for this? If she's going to go longer than 2/3 hours between feeds it's always during the day.

badguider · 12/09/2013 17:43

fl0 - we didn't get a lot of wet nappies till more like day 4.
we felt that so long as the meconium was coming out and then later changing colour that it'd be ok.
The wee came BIG TIME when my milk came in properly on days 4/5.

Have you any reason to think your wee one isn't getting all the colostrum he needs just fine?

Can you access special feeding support from your MW?

jennimoo · 12/09/2013 17:57

Mooster - I think it takes about 6 weeks til they 'get' day and night IIRC. But I'd be thinking its a great sign for the future! ;)

PurplePoppySeed · 12/09/2013 19:15

wibbly I haven't had the jab either, don't worry too much if you've missed the window, it's a new thing in the last year or so as there has been a bit of an increase in it. Personally, I was just lazy about getting around to it.

Some people are anti it as its not been fully proved, I.e. no formal testing on pregnant women and no conclusive proof that it is passed on to baby and finally, worst case, baby gets its own jab at 8 weeks.

fl0b0t · 12/09/2013 19:49

Hey all. Sorry to hijack with feeding stress!I've started a thread on Feeding group thing www.mumsnet.com/Talk/breast_and_bottle_feeding/1851035-3-day-old-want-to-BF so if anyone has any thoughts of advice please pop over!

The only thing that makes me think he's not getting enough are comments by VERY pro-BF community midwife who I saw today that we need to top up with formula for now until we get the expressing going- and the fact he is jaundice and really is not feeding from me for more than a couple of sucks in an hour or so.
Robin just falls asleep or stops sucking no matter what we try. He is getting sleepier and slower.

He is wonderful otherwise. 3 days blues not quite kicking in with my milk, though I did almost loose it at DH at 3am feed who told me very clearly that he was coming to help in a minute (but fell asleep). And then whilst he knew I was trying to get my thoughts together about the BF problems he was trying to get me to go all the way to the kitchen to go and "look at the runner beans" he was about to cook. I shouted back to cook something else as I was too busy to come and "look at them". Hmm
