I'm forever nagging Dp about his diet too. He's been having chest pains frequently lately and suffers from coughing syncope (blacks out after coughing) It looks like I've finally got him to stop smoking though which should help that.
He's been drinking far too much lately mainly due to the stress of the baby and problems at work. He's always saying he wants to eat healthier but picks most of the vegetables out of everything I cook and even a reasonably healthy shepherds pie or Lasagne isn't healthy anymore once he's added a block of grated cheese to the top.
He's so depressed about his weight and I know how it feels because I've been there but it's hard to change the habits of a lifetime I guess.

MotherOfNations · 02/09/2013 18:59

A planned cs is very relaxed and not at all scarey falcon. The nurses chat to you all the way through and reassure you. The worst bit of the whole thing is the epidural. You don't feel any pain though there is a weird sensation like someone doing the washing up in your stomach.

OrangeBlossom2 · 02/09/2013 19:05

Falcon sorry you didn't get the news you wanted. Hopefully Willow is a very easy baby to make up for all the worry she has caused you in utero! I don't have any advice on elcs but just wondered, can they book the c section and then not go ahead with it if baby turns in time? That would have been what they did if my placenta had stayed low - book a c section but scan again a couple of weeks later to see if things had changed. It might be something worth pushing for if not offered?

I think I read that the ecv turning procedure has a poor success rate, something like 50%, not a great deal more than the mum concentrating on wanting the baby to turn! Also I think it comes with some risks, I would definitely want to research it before asking for it. A c section although scary might be the best thing.

Having to eat the dregs of a tub of ice cream to make room in the freezer. Oh the hardship! Grin

Did you get your childcare issue sorted Clapham?

Flyer747 · 02/09/2013 19:12

Orange I asked loads of questions about ecv's at my last mw appointment as I was told my baby was breech (although I know it can turn)

I was told that each hospital has their own statistics for how successful ecv's are, at Liverpool it is approx 70% which is very high, some other health care trusts are as low as 30% success rates.

Secondly she said that you can only have ecv if you have the correct amount of amniotic fluid, too much or too little it's straight to a c section. Also mw informed me that you'd be booked in for a c section if this is what you opted for and on the day of the section you'd be rescanned and if the baby had turned then it would be back home awaiting for natural birth.

I'm sure some mw and health care trusts are different I'm only speaking from what I was told.

chickieno1 · 02/09/2013 19:14

mon that's terrible about those bullies! I hope your dd can get help ASAP. How old is she? It is a difficult transition time too with changing schools :(

tarlia are your BP spikes related to dosing schedule? What/how many meds you on? Did hospital tell you when you should contact them re readings? Is it just if persistently high or is it symptoms? Are they doing regular bloods?? Sorry for all questions.

pseudo you're not on meds right? Hope your BP stays down

blue glad you got to go through options with mw. I have an elcs bookers after emcs with ds. I'm still not entirely sure will i go for vbac yet? Things were a little hairy at the end but I guess maybe I can't remember too well but my husband does NOT want to go through that again.........I know I ll recover quicker from an elective and it ll be easier with child care for ds.

falcon I hope baby turns on their own for you.

jethro you too!

Welcome back roxvox

Happy anniversary pink Flowers

Glad you had a lovely baby shower roofio

chickieno1 · 02/09/2013 19:22

And for all those OH with health BP etc issues they need to get it sorted out!! I know they are men but they re about to have children that need them to be around and healthy!! Maybe put to them like that might be a kick up the bum that they need. It worked for my dh. It s hard but they need to do it. If BP is high they need to try wt loss and exercise etc and then reassess. If still high they need treatment!! Sorry but feel very strongly about this and untreated BP, sleep apnoea etc can have long term consequences. Sorry for the rant Blush

OrangeBlossom2 · 02/09/2013 19:28

Wow that's interesting that there is such a wide variation in ecv success rates flyer.

Hopefully all the breech babies turn in time by themselves.

bluesnowfalcon · 02/09/2013 19:28

Chicki thanks it sounds like we are in the same boat!

We've now had a deep and meaningful and are going to go for an elc at 39 weeks but might still try sweep at 38 weeks. However, it will be my mum in with me for the elc while dh looks after ds and comes to the hospital in time to meet us in recovery :)

Glad to have made a decision - now just got to stick with it until Thursday when I ring mw and tell her and get ball rolling as that means that 5 weeks Wednesday and she will be here!

PseudoBadger · 02/09/2013 19:29

I'm not on meds chickie. I'll see what the consultant says on Thursday.

I personally wouldn't have an ECV Falcon mainly due to a low success rate and discomfort.

Natalieand · 02/09/2013 19:30

flyer my nhs trust uses the same procedure as yours for elcs due to baby position. They book the c sec and scan u just before and if baby has changed to head down then your packing your bags and off home too wait it out again lolx

OrangeBlossom2 · 02/09/2013 19:30

Well done bluesnowfalcon Smile

Tarlia · 02/09/2013 19:32

badger glad to hear your bp is back down again!

chick I guess it was today actually, it was high right around taking med. though they said they take 2 weeks to work and I've been on them almost 4 now so Id expect there to be a supply in my system..? I will monitor that theory tomorrow, thanks.

Falcon get scrubbing those floors and looking at that spinning babies website. Have my fingers crossed for a spinner.
Think my little guy is flipping from front to back. Hope i don't have a back to back labour as my birth plan states I can manage the pain without drugs as I did last time. :S MW written plan, not mine.

Whoever was saying about turning in bed, I have to rest on my back too. I'm sleeping in a duvet nest. Big king sized one with sides turned in then flipped out. I sleep in the middle and have sort of puffy sides for my bump to go on top of and to go between my legs.

I also do the holding wee thing. In the night I really try to ignore it, then it makes the SPD pain worse I hobble on my crutches trying not to whinge to myself.

Nat how's DH's poor back today? :D

MotherOfNations · 02/09/2013 19:34

She'll be 12 on Thursday chickie. She's not too happy about having to see a "mad counsellor woman" as she put it but we've got to do everything we can to stop this escalating. The problem is she doesn't know when to stay quiet so will probably tell everyone she's seeing a counsellor thus giving the bullies more amunition, not that bullies need amunition of course.

Natalieand · 02/09/2013 19:35

Haha tarlia dh has been in from work 45 mins first thing he said was 'my backs a bit better u no. Was so bad this morning but I made sure I walked round the office (that only has 4 desks in it so not quite sure where he walked) and done as much stretching as I can cos that makes it better doesn't it?' ... I just said 'no, when your pregnant a nice back run and having a hot bath run for u helps' and left it at that lol x

Natalieand · 02/09/2013 19:36

rub not run xx

Tarlia · 02/09/2013 19:37

Oh I'm meant to call them if bp high for one reading with or without symptoms. Which I feel is a bit over kill.
badger it's funny how yours shot up and was detected at 36 week MW, mine was exact same. They planned to induce at 38 weeks but by 37 something my symptoms went mad, then day 2 of induction I started developing HELLP so they were putting 2 gels in at a time.

Tarlia · 02/09/2013 19:38

Haha Nat I LOVE your response! Men can be such babies at times. Bless.

PseudoBadger · 02/09/2013 19:42

Ha ha Tarlia it was the MW assessment to use the lovely mw led birth centre. We did the whole appointment and decided I was a perfect candidate to give birth there. We were about to leave and she said she would just do my BP. She went quiet and said "well I'm afraid it's unlikely you'll be using the birth centre" and sent me off for monitoring!

Haylebop12 · 02/09/2013 19:55

Oh god all this talk of c sections and giving birth is bringing home the fact I have to give birth again soon and although I had a pretty un-eventful time with dd it bloody hurt! I think a slight dear is starting to kick in....

Haylebop12 · 02/09/2013 19:55

Fear*

Natalieand · 02/09/2013 20:10

I literally cannot stop eating? I was like it yesterday and I'm like it today as well anything I can get my hands on lol

Shootingstarsandcomets · 02/09/2013 20:14

Hi all, not been posting much as been a busy bee but DH is out tonight so here I am!
Anyone else feeling like ooh we are so near the end and then despairing that the last 6 weeks is just going to drag....
I'm still not sorted and babys room is still a mess but I have been cleaning and nesting quite a bit which is nice.
Can anyone tell me the name of the midwife programme and what channel it's on- I want to watch it on catch up if I can but can't find it.

PseudoBadger · 02/09/2013 20:16

It's The Midwives on BBC2 on Tuesdays, straight after GBBO :)

Warlin · 02/09/2013 20:21

bluesnow jus keep remembering that every birth is different. A friend of mine had a really traumatic birth, that caused Pnd and was so worried 2nd time but ended up with just a few hours in labour, quick, relatively easy birth. It must be so hard but keep focused on the fact this is a different pregnancy and will be a different birth. Hugs x

roofio87 · 02/09/2013 20:22

just been thinking that baby had been a bit quiet this afternoon but after 10 mins on the gym ball and he's going crazy!! worth a try if anyone wants to get baby moving!
