I can't believe how much chat goes on overnight!

Ana this sounds exactly like vulval varicose veins I'm afraid (I have it on left hand side only). I also went to the gp to confirm though, as I would for any random "lump"! I had guessed what it was though as the swelling decreased if I lay flat, and sort of popped out again when I stood up. I've been told they'll just disappear after birth. And sorry about the snoring. Def record and kick him out if bed as, if he's like my DH, inconvenience = incentive.

Natalieand · 02/09/2013 07:17

I was just thinks the same about overnight chat legally lol

Re snoring! Sometimes I feel a murder charge would be easier to deal with than putting up with his snoring what I tend to do is fold one corner of my pillow put one ear there, then use the corner of the quilt also folded over the other ear and rest my arm over it and the pressure of my my arm resting over the quilt on my ear pushes my other ear into the pillow this reducing the loudness of the snoring, not ideal but then again .... Neither is being awake all night. Tried ear plus and thought they made absolutely no difference at all :-(

Is today the 7 day countdown legally?

34 weeks today - 6 to go whoop :-)

Shirehobbit · 02/09/2013 07:46

Funny - DH was banished to the spare room last night for snoring, too! Usually an encouragement to roll onto his right side sorts it, but it was even bad then, too.

ananikifo · 02/09/2013 07:52

Thanks for the support everyone. Usually wearing earplugs is enough and it's only when it's particularly bad that I need to be in a different room. DH has heard recordings of himself but I still don't think it clicks with him what torture it is to be kept awake.

Even I can't pretend I'm ok today and I'll have to call in sick. Sad

MrsHoratioNelson · 02/09/2013 07:53

Pffft. Only this week left at work. Friday cannot come soon enough!

OP posts:
Shirehobbit · 02/09/2013 08:06

It's weird, I don't actually know when my mat leave will start: nominally, I finish next Friday. But, I've offered to stay longer if we get the Inspection Call, also, my Head told me she has been creating a list of jobs for me (as I won't have a class). Knowing her as well as I do, I suspect the list will be more than two weeks worth of work....

HotSoupDumpling · 02/09/2013 08:14

ana, hope you catch up on your sleep today. Your DH def needs a serious talk. He at least needs to try every single reasonable step to stop snoring and he should be pro active about it! Sleep deprivation IS a form of torture under the Geneva Convention (as our midwives keep telling us smugly!) and having enough sleep will make you so so much happier and will help the relationship. DP and I usually have our arguments when we are tired and grouchy.

Smitten, I can't say the WC vaccine is risk free, but I can say that although my arm hurt like frick for a few days afterwards, I personally consider it completely worth it. The NHS often muck up, but their vaccination decisions are only made after lots of stages of balancing the risks. And as I'm not medical, I'm in no position to carry out an analysis of the risks myself.

Pinkforboys Thanks for link to the Gap shirt! Will seriously consider it! Ideally I'd like something stretchy, no collar or sleeves, but at least the shirts look like normal clothing and are reasonably priced!

Pinkforboys · 02/09/2013 08:29

Morning Ladies,
I'm so sorry some of you were up at 3 again. That's just not fair, though a reminder of what we'll all be doing in a few weeks time...

Clapham your school is terrible! I thought ours was bad at communication but yours really does take the p*ss, especially if the holiday club isn't open. Good luck finding a friend to help out x

It finally hit me last night that we haven't even discussed names yet, bar a couple of family names for the middle. You've all been suggesting such lovely names it's made me realise I haven't thought beyond the first 2 I liked. I so doubted the reality of this pregnancy that we haven't even got the names book out. Probably ought to now, eh Confused?

Anniversary today and DH has forgotten. I didn't feel I could make him feel bad first thing in the morning so I didn't give him his present- thought best to save it til this evening when he won't feel pressured into getting something last minute.

Natalieand · 02/09/2013 08:34

Very clever pink at Least they way he can't pretend he remembered and buy flowers from a garage on his way home.... Although equally not nice that he forgot. Xx Flowers

Shirehobbit · 02/09/2013 08:46

I still wonder whether this baby will time itself to arrive on our anniversary (21st). They'd be late, but not that late...

Natalieand · 02/09/2013 08:48

shire for my baby to arrive on my wedding anniversary it would have to be 8 days late and I'm so desperate for they not to happen as I like to go away with dh for the night for our anniversary and we won't be able to do they if the baby's birthday falls either on that day or the day or so either side although we won't go away this year I'm thinking of future years lol

Shirehobbit · 02/09/2013 08:59

I think we're in the same boat, Natalie - due date and anniversary-wise!

Truth is, I've kind of been working to 42 weeks (27th Oct) in my head, because I stand a chance of not going insane when the EDD passes Wink

Sorry - and I totally forgot to wish you a happy anniversary, Pink Flowers

OrangeBlossom2 · 02/09/2013 09:02

shire are you in an independent school? do you get a bit more notice of inspection?

i just bought three boxes of dairy free date and chocolate flap jacks from sainsbury for my hospital bag. nicer than prune juice! Grin

roofio87 · 02/09/2013 09:07

smitten I had the wc jab and have had.no problems with it. the way I saw it, there have been no proven links of problems between the vaccine and unborn babies but there indisputably have been cases of newborns dying fron whooping cough so I went with what seemed the least risky option for me. but its your personal choice and you have to do what feels right for you and your baby!!
flyer I don't think you sound crazy, I do think there are health benefits to it, and thr capsule form is definitley more appealing than the raw form!!Confused I would consider it but not sure I can juatify the cost!!

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 02/09/2013 09:09

Smitten - just wanted to say I'm another one that felt fine after the w/c vaccine. There wasn't even any tenderness at the site of the jab which surprised me as I had a pure tetanus jab back in Nov/Dec which left my arm sore for days.

I was worried about having the jab because it is a combined vaccine for whooping cough, diphtheria and tetanus and I've had the maximum number of tetanus vaccines you are meant to have in your lifetime. However, the nurse reassured me that the quantities in this vaccine are so tiny it doesn't count - it's only the pre-school booster.

Good luck for this afternoon if you decide to have it.

OrangeBlossom2 · 02/09/2013 09:12

Happy anniversary pink. Could you send DH a happy anniversary text so he has time to sort something at lunch and you can both pretend he didn't forget? Wink

Shirehobbit · 02/09/2013 09:14

Yes, Orange - an independent day school. We've not been inspected since 2007, as we fell through the net with the delay/change to interim inspections and are low priority on the schedule. We have to be done this term, really. But I think the notice is the same - call on Tuesday, inspectors arrive following Monday?

OrangeBlossom2 · 02/09/2013 09:22

No shire , we have next day inspections now. I used to work in an independent school that hadn't been inspected for 6 years so we knew they would be coming that year. At that time they came for a few days to look at paperwork and came back a month later to look at lessons so we had all that time to prepare. Really not a fair way of judging a school and actually quite stressful as you have no excuse not to be outstanding!

My current school "requires improvement" but the LEA say we are good and the hmi inspectors triggered another new ofsted inspection so we are expecting them any time at the start of term. So glad they didn't come in the last week, they went to another local school two days before the end of term and I don't imagine they will have done well! Confused I certainly won't miss all that when I leave!

Haylebop12 · 02/09/2013 09:34

Morning ladies, dd gave me a lovely lie in until 9am bit as from tonight bedtimes are early to get ready for school. Although she doesn't start until next Monday. Three half days and then full time from Thursday. So I've got another week of the attitude and horrible behaviour! I also have mil coming next Friday, she doesn't know how long he's staying but tbh she's a good help round the house.

clapham your school sound terribly unorganized. How annoying for you to have to arrange child care last minute and your poor ds was probably all exited to go back and see his friends!

Good to her from you flyer the placenta thing sounds interesting, not sure if its for me but I understand your reasons for trying it. Let us know how you get on!

Can't remember who said the name but I like Dominic :-)

Warlin · 02/09/2013 09:38

Hi all, wet fish slaps to all the snoring partners. That's all you need.

I just feel utterly shattered, despite getting decent amounts of sleep. Mind you the crazy dreams continue which agents helping. Last night I was running as the world trade centre was about to collapse Shock. Might explain why I'm so wrecked.

Feels strange being on mat leave. Not sure spending the day alone with ds is that restful!

hotsoup I bought a nightgown to give birth in but ended up just wearing a hospital gown as I was induced. I will try and use it this time but I really wouldn't spend much on one.

Shirehobbit · 02/09/2013 09:39

The system has changed, Orange - on the day they call, all paperwork must be emailed before 5pm. They spend the week before arriving looking through it to choose the things they want to look at when they arrive to do observations/interviews the following week.

bluesnowfalcon · 02/09/2013 09:42

Hi all,

Just need to splurge before I fall apart and didn't really know where else to do it so on here it goes!

I've got midwife in a bit to write birth plan but the closer I get to edd the more scared I get about it all. I ended up with an emcs on ds 3years ago and am petrified of giving birth this time as well. I had a rotten experience that has not only marked me but scared dh too and we are both scared of what this birth will bring. Keep going round in circles in my head about best thing to do vbac or elc and keep coming back to not knowing. It is now affecting my sleep as wake up worrying about it too.

I know realistically that no one can do anything but just needed to spill it all out before I end up going and crying on midwife. Especially as been in tears already this morning on the phone to my mum and dh at work :(

Sorry all that it is a meme me post but needed to spill it somewhere.

Hope everyone else is not feeling as down and crappy and has a good day :)

OrangeBlossom2 · 02/09/2013 09:48

Bluesnowfalcon do you have to decide today? Could you write two birth plans? If you book the ELCS could you change your mind and go for vbac? Have a chat about both options with your midwife, and I am sure you wouldn't be the first blubbering wreck she has seen so don't worry if you get upset when talking to her. I have no advice about which you should choose but sending Brew and Cake
Is your DH going with you? I can understand that he is worrying after seeing you go through that but ELCS w

LostMySocks · 02/09/2013 09:49

Morning all. Ive been away for a long weekend visiting my aunt in Cornwall (aka scrounging outgrown baby clothes from my cousin) and buying all the other bits we need. Can't believe how quickly the thread has moved on

Blues - please speak to your midwife today and tell her how scared you are. Don't try to be brave in front of her - that way they should be able to give you more support.
