Oh, MrsA :( Sorry you're having a hard time.

We would absolutely be bringing up this baby in London if DS weren't already at a really good grammar school. DH works in central London and it makes sense, but I really don't want to move DS. When he leaves school in 5 years, we'll probably move then. So we'll be bringing up a small child in London, including trying to find a decent school place. And I dread to think what everyone will say. I'm sure they'll all have to give their opinions!

We also have one fewer bedroom than we need, with nowhere to put the baby. We were supposed to be moving this year and everyone keeps banging on about it. We will likely be here for at least the next year and everyone who has a problem with that can BLOW ME!

I can't believe your boss is trying to tell you what to wear! Shock
I'm pretty sure they're not allowed to stop you having training because you're going on maternity leave, and she is absolutely not allowed to give you a hard time for needing time off for appointments. I don't know who you can contact to complain about that, but there has to be some kind of comeback for that, even in really small companies with no HR department.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 15/08/2013 18:01

MrsA JESUS WEPT, you totally should be doing them for pg discrimination. Christ on a bike, what a total cuntpuffin!
"so what you're telling me is you're going to need a considerable amount of time off (for antenatal appointments) -no else does for medical appointments" - they're NOT MEDICAL appointments, they're ANTE-FUCKING-NATAL ones, dickhead. I'm not SICK, I'm pg, and this is what I have to do to have a healthy baby so, as toby so eloquently says: BLOW ME. Or, you could pick an NCT class that's during the day and force her to give you that time off as well (she has to Grin). Then explain you would have gone to evening ones, but for her attitude.

And as for the training one, that's blatant discrimination. I am appalled and so Angry on your behalf. Do you belong to a union? Can you contact CAB for help? I would not let that stand, sorry. Utterly unreasonable. A few well placed 'I BEG your pardon's and 'Did you mean to be so unreasonable/rude/discriminatory' might help too.

As for the other ones, fuck 'em. You do it your way, they can go jump. No one will EVER agree 100% with your way, but that's why you're not them...

Frizz1986 · 15/08/2013 18:53

mrsa how very rude and awful. I wouldnt stand for that sort of crap. You should def investigate complaning and such!!
And you can live and do what you want. As long as baby is happy and fed etc then it really doesnt matter.

mrsa a golf is my dream car. My dad has one and i want it. I currently have a crappy, always breaking, far too much wrong with it 52 plate fiesta which will be got rid of (prob cant even sell it as its that rubbish a car) come mat leave and we will be surviving with dhs small 3 door clio. Would love to get a bigger car (was looking at a kia ceed as pretty decent size and 7 year warranty) but with dh out of work now we will be lucky if we can even afford to keep the clio let along get something bigger. We will cope i am sure, just a bit concerned as bubs will end up sat by our crazy westie as the buggy fills the entire boot! All luggage, shopping etc will have to go in footwells.

toby i know u dont want a people carrier but my sister has a vauxhall zafira and loves it. She has 2 teen stepsons (18 and 16yr olds), a 3 1/2 yr old and a 6ft something husband (her step sons are tall too) and it fits them in well. I dont think it looks too massive either. She got a second hand one in good condition for just around 6k I think so it suited them well.

1 week tomorrow until my scan and I cant wait!! (She says through the sheer nerves)

enjoyingscience · 15/08/2013 18:57

I do think it's amazing that people haven't got the imagination to accept that children can grow up and do very well in anything other than a 2.4 children, leafy suburb magazine life.

Go back one or two generations and one bedroom per child was unheard of, and London is our capital city - why on earth wouldn't you live there?

Madness.

Also, your boss is not only being an arse, but a discriminatory arse. They would do well to have it pointed out to then sooner rather than later, i.e. before they get sued!

TobyLerone · 15/08/2013 19:24

Yep, still don't want a people carrier :o

Penny31 · 15/08/2013 20:30

I have a Golf and really love it. It's nippy and has plenty of room for buggy etc. it's my house that's the problem! It's teeny, I think we will manage for the first 6-8 months while I'm on maternity but I'm hoping to move after that. At least my mortgage is small and manageable while I'm off I suppose :)

MrsRApilot · 15/08/2013 23:05

Gosh mrsa your boss sound terrible and as for living in London why on earth is it anyone elses buisness. Babies are extremely tiny and don't need their own room. Plus there are lots of parks etc with loads of space for them to run about as they get bigger.

toby Your comment about a grown up car made me giggle. I'm 26 and quite short. I look absolutely ridiculous driving it but it's so comfy :-D

Our pup was playing (hyper puppy) and jumped up to catch a toy and landed awkwardly on her back leg. Specialist vet orthopedic surgeon has said he is happy to operate as our own vets won't/can't. He said she would hopefully get to about 5 or 6 before she gets arthritis/pain from it so at least she'll still have a few good years of living. She's getting it pinned on Monday and we're on holiday so it's a blooming nightmare trying to liaise with vets/kennels. But anyway, could be much worse.

Hope the amnio goes ok tomorrow curly will be thinking of you

humpty I'mhaving problems with foot pain as well and at the minute the only shoes I can stand to wear are crocs which look ridiculous. I also could wear uggs but I refuse on principle to wear them in the summer. I don't actually particularly like the look of either shoe but I have stupidly broad feet and, even though they don't look swollen, they won't fit into my converse or pumps atm. Not good.

I'm 19 weeks and only feeling tiny flutters and of course panicking massively about it so it's good to here there are other people in the same boat. Hopefully proper kicks will start for us soon!

I have an anomaly scan on Saturday so ridiculously worried and feeling sick looking forward to that. Will be good to see Alexander again :-)

MrsGSR · 15/08/2013 23:42

Flowers curly

humpty I bought some memory foam insoles from the £1 store, they are amazing and I can move them between shoes so I'm comfortable and still have loads of choice :)

I can't remember what else had been said, I don't even know why I'm up this late! We have a gender scan booked for next week (we weren't finding out, but now DH really wants to!) and I bought a doppler, which I said I wouldn't but then gave in!

MrsVDB · 16/08/2013 07:11

Good luck today curly

I had an awful dream last night. I was with my parents and I could feel the baby moving and my whole tummy was vibrating so I put my hand on it to see if I could feel it from outside and a foot pushed against it so you could see it through my skin but it was huge and green. I said I didn't like it so my mum put her hand there then a couple of seconds later the baby just fell out of me. No blood and no pushing. It had the placenta attached but baby was green and dead. I thought about CPR but decided it was too early. My mum put it in the fridge. Then when we took it out the fridge to look she bought out the chicken as well as she couldn't tell what was baby and what was for the roast. Sounds funny but it was awful.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 16/08/2013 08:05

MrsV you poor thing, that's horrid. I dreamt last night that I was about to go to prison, and I had to pack Hmm. I kept saying that it wasn't fair, and I'd much rather go to Thorpe Park, but noone was listening. I hope I'm not prophetic Grin.

So: Birkentocks, Hush Puppies, memory foam insoles, Next pumps, M&S footglove (shamefully I already have a pair of nan sandals, which are BLISS), DMs. Thank you ladies, those are all much better than trainers. I shall get investigating.

MrsAVB · 16/08/2013 08:46

Oh mrsv what a horrible dream! I had what I thought was a rom-com style dream where I got the guy at the end, but on reflection it seems it was more like an adult game of kiss chase as two of my friends were chasing the same guy round a room. Still, I got the guy! No sexy stuff though, just cuddling, damn alarm!
curly lots of love and positive vibes today.
X

TobyLerone · 16/08/2013 08:51

MrsR, I'm 35 and should probably grow up soon, but I just don't want to! Good luck for your scan.

Thinking of you today, curly Flowers

MrsV, that sounds horrendous! You poor thing :(

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 16/08/2013 10:23

curly good luck for today. We're all thinking of you, and here if you need us.

lovelilies · 16/08/2013 16:34

Hope you're ok curly Thanks

I've just bought a load of maternity things on eBay, a dress, jeans, 3x leggings, and 3 tops for £48 so quite chuffed Smile normal clothes just so uncomfortable now that bump is growing by the day, I'll be the size of a house by January!! cant wait to go on maternity leave... only 17 weeks to go Sad

TobyLerone · 16/08/2013 16:36

Maternity leggings are AWESOME. Even though sometimes I have to tuck them in my bra to make them stay up :o

MrsAVB · 16/08/2013 16:54

Haha toby I was thinking the other day about inventing some kind of braces/ suspenders for attaching tights/ leggings/ trousers that won't stay up to my bra. But I think all it would achieve would be pulling my boobs downwards. Which is not needed.

enjoyingscience · 16/08/2013 16:55

I've been called massive by two colleagues today, and DP told me I was 'much bigger this time round', with a bit of a head tilt yesterday. Maternity clothes all round here.

I may well kill the next person who comments on my enormous bulk, however.

Flowers for curly - hope all's well.

Toothfairy78 · 16/08/2013 17:03

Happy Friday Folks!

Soooo, foot pain eh? Been there!

I have a few sets of orthotic insoles which I use. They support my feet and I have ones that go in slim shoes and ones that go in trainers/boots. I have 2 sets of custom ones which I love but I also have some off the shelf slim 3/4 ones from Footmedics which work really well and fit discreetly in most shoes. For high heels Scholls do some really good ones that make heels bearable!

Obviously get some advice first, but generally if your foot is aligned/supported correctly you won 't need cushioning. In fact cushioning can make it worse by introducing instability to your feet.

Here endeth the sermon!

Toothfairy78 · 16/08/2013 17:10

Oh, and I just wanted to send a supportive hug to curly.

Also, if anyone is experiencing comments about being big/massive/huge, just tell them to go fuck themselves! How rude of them!

Toothfairy78 · 16/08/2013 17:20

MrsAVB there's these things called BellyUps which are like those clips on strap for holding bed sheets in place. They clip onto your bra and your waistband. Unfortunately only sold in the USA :(

Frizz1986 · 16/08/2013 18:00

I have 2 pairs of mat leggings as my sister said they were a must as can just pair them with big tops but my bump is not big enough to keep them up yet Sad

Very glad it's Friday! Am getting my hair chopped off tomorrow and so am hoping that my energy levels have gone up enough to be bothered about straightening it every day.

Def getting a bubble feeling in my belly every now and then. Hoping it's baby finally saying hello but possible just gas lol.

Only a week until the scan tho so not too long to wait to see how all is going.

Hope everyone has a fun weekend planned!!

TobyLerone · 16/08/2013 18:09

My bump is fairly big, but most of that is sadly not baby! It does make me wonder what will happen when the baby and other malarkey run out of room upwards. The top of my uterus is already about an inch above my belly button. I'm only 5'3"!

My underbump maternity jeans are still annoyingly slidey-down, but the overbump ones are fine because if they start slipping down I just tuck them under the underwires of my bra :o

Hope it's movement, Frizz. It's very exciting!

extracrunchy · 16/08/2013 19:31

Curly hope today was ok. Thinking of you x

Sultanajo · 16/08/2013 22:30

curly keeping everything crossed it all went well for you today....

mrsra hope you get your pupster sorted quickly - these things always happen when you are about to go on holiday!,

toby cant remember if this one has been mentioned, but there is a new 7 seater Kia that doesnt look like a people carrier from the picture I saw this morning in the magazine....

Soooo am back from a blissful spa break and even managed to stay awake going out for a lush indian meal this evening. Gutted its back to reality now. Spent half our time there in the pool, the rest of it spent eating yummy food and chilling out! 1.5 days was not enough! Wink

Got back tonight worried I had overdone the pool activities so got the comfort blanket doppler out and straight away heard the heartbeat and lots of movement (wish I could feel it) so can go to bed happy and pray the heartburn doesnt ramp up after the raw onion and Indian! Hmm

TobyLerone · 16/08/2013 22:45

The new 7-seat Kia (Carenza or something I think) is basically a Ford S-Max. Still too people carriery for my liking! I am waiting for them to get a manual version of their big 7-seat 4x4 in for me to test drive but they're taking their time!

Glad you had a lovely break, sultana :)

curly, I hope it went ok today Flowers
