Mine is weird as I've been measuring bang on fundal height wise (and still am!), but I'm having growth scans due to previous BP issues. At my 29 week scan the sonographer found a deepest pool of 8cm (can't remember the exact AFI) and advised that I discuss it with the mw who I was seeing straight afterwards.
She wasnt too worried but made me an extra consultant appointment to discuss - I'm sure i'll get those tests as well.

I do hope your scan and appointment go well x

pinkbuttons · 13/08/2013 07:31

Morning all, hope consultant appt goes well today favellio
I also have scan on Thurs and consultant on Friday due to my thyroid problems even though has been stable throughout my whole pregnancy. Feeling very lucky to be getting extra views of my baby without any real concern.
I also seem to have a dancing baby although feels more like street dance with the power of some of these kicks. also still getting them all over the place so no idea what position shes in.
So glad everything was ok yesterday jelly
How did midwife appt go natalie? sorry if youve said and I missed it in all the chat Smile

Also seem to be having the pain down below and feeling uncomfortably full during DTD, apologies for TMI. Wondering if it is because shes so low Hmm

Hope you managed to get some sleep clapham and make up with DH x

kiwee · 13/08/2013 07:48

Wow lots of news in last few days! Glad scans etc have been going well for people.

To whoever asked days ago don't know what we're having...which makes agreeing on a name even more difficult. Think we have a girl name sorted (which didn't make it into top 100 - ok we're in NZ not UK but the lists tend to be very similar) but cannot even begin to agree on a boys name which we like AND which goes with surname.

Anyone else had a really sore belly button? It's ok at night but by the end of the day at work feels really tight and sore across top of belly button (my bump does seem to get bigger during the day so maybe that's why?). Baby was still breech on scan a few days ago so maybe it'll be a bit better if it turns round soon.

Hope people's appointments go well this week!

MotherOfNations · 13/08/2013 08:04

I get the same pain after walking for a while MrsO and wondered if it was the start of varicose veins though I do get a similar pain just before ny period so who knows.

One of my friends us giving me a Baby Bjorn carrier that she barely used and my sister has given me a bouncer, though not the baby Bjorn one.

Going for lunch today with ny best friend who has been in Ireland all Summer visiting her boyfriend. She had a pregnancy scare while over there and wasn't too pleased as she's 47 and her son has just turned 18. I had told her she better not be because I'm looking forward to getting back to our weekly boozy lunches soon.

Slippysnow · 13/08/2013 09:14

Hope everyone's scans show positive developments (I'm really sorry my dyslexia attacks my memory and its really hard to name check on iPhones!)

I have a few more random questions if you would ;)...

  1. is anyone drinking raspberry leaf tea (or taking the tablets)? Or planning to? I have read mixed views of when to start taking it.

  2. is anyone using a birth/gym ball? To be honest I have one but don't know what I should really be doing whilst on it :)

  3. this may be too much information and a bit crude for some, but is it just me who keeps producing floaters, it's becoming quite embarrassing now, I'm being taunted by them. Is there any reason? Help please!!

ComtesseDeFrouFrou · 13/08/2013 09:15

kiwee yes to a sore belly button. Seems worse at the end of the day when I guess I'm feeling more bloated - bump certainly seems bigger before I go to bed than in the morning.

Sometimes I feel like my belly button is going to pop Sad

ComtesseDeFrouFrou · 13/08/2013 09:21

Slippy

1 no, not unless i go overdue

2 yes, it's really helps my back because I'm not archon it when I sit down and I can flop over it if everything's getting a bit heavy.

3 yes Blush but I'm afraid I don't know why

roxvox · 13/08/2013 09:36

MrsO27 could it be Pelvic Congestion Syndrome? It was just something I came across whilst trying to self-diagnose my problem!

I get a searing pain in my lower area (not very good at describing this) it's right underneath, and starts there then shoots partially down my leg. I don't think it's a nerve or anything bone related, in fact I am pretty sure it is ligaments or muscle. It hurts at its absolute worst when I am turning over in bed or getting up for a wee in the middle of the night. Some days it seems to be worse than others. Today is a particularly bad day it seems and a sneezing fit I had this morning was incredibly painful as my body recalled from each sneeze!

Baby is head down (or was last week when I visited the midwife and nothing seems to have changed since then in terms of where I am feeling kicks). All of the kicks are on the right side of my bump now and then I get squiggles around my belly button area (which I assume is babys arm moving!) ... I love it when baby kicks out and then leaves his/her foot sticking into my side because I can give it a little rub and know that I am touching my baby's foot!

Hope all goes well for those having scans today!

Slippy I am getting a ball this week, the NCT lady had some dotted around the room and I tried one out, I found it quite comfy. She also said it's good to use on as it gets the baby into the correct position for labour. As I have an anterior placenta I'm more likely to have a back to back baby so will be trying everything to avoid this.

My friend had her baby 3 weeks ago and gave me some raspberry leaf tea so will maybe give it a whirl come 37 weeks, I don't hold out too much hope though that it works.

roxvox · 13/08/2013 10:01

Ok, I Googled the terminology anything to avoid actually doing work and I am getting nightly severe pain in the muscles connecting my labia majora to my inner thigh on the left side only. It's hurting slightly now, but most of the time it is ok. But at night when I get up for a wee or try to roll over in bed then it is excruciating. Sometimes I will fall back on to the bed with the pain. It can also be really painful when trying to get out of a low seat (i.e. the seat of a car or our sofa).

Anyone else experiencing this?

Morning all

Working from home today which is so nice. Just back from a walk at the beach with the dog, washing machine on and meeting my mum for lunch....busy day lol

chickio I personally really prefer parent facing, especially when they are young. I found it calmed ds down when he could see you and also easier to keep a close eye on them. DS still likes to go parent facing if he's tired or I would switch it round to keep the sun out of his eyes. This was my main reason for opting for a travel system again, even though they can be a bit of a faff. We've ordered the bugaboo donkey, which is the double of the one we have.

shooting my ds loved the sling too but he still wants carried so not sure I can use a sling with this baby when he is there....how will you manage it? I love the babybjorn but I also love the moby. Moby is a wrap and is more comfortable to wear once on but babybjorn is easier to put on.

Good luck with the scan favellio

slippy I haven't tried raspberry leaf tea but suspect I will when I'm dying to get baby out! I have a gym ball too and sonographer told me to use it to try and get baby turned but haven't really got round it...must start. I assume you just bounce as it's all about gravity. Better get a good bra on first :) Not having the floater problem lol but I am getting so much discharge which is pretty horrible.

roofio87 · 13/08/2013 10:08

my friend works for a very famous tea brand so has smuggled me out some raspberry leaf tea to try come the end of my pg when im desperate! !

yes I have a gyn ball, I love it.the mw who runs my aquanatal sessions suggested it for my sore back and to strengthen muscles before birth, I literally just sit on it in front of the tv rolling gently back and forth and side to side. I do it while watching hollyoaks (yes im ashamed to admit I watch it!!) so I know I do it for 1/2 an hour most days!! I think its helping my back defo.

just been for mw check up. everything is fine, still grown 4cm in 4 weeks despite no weight gain so all happy there! babys hb good and he's head down so fingers crossed he stays there!! im not here in 2 weeks so she said not to bother seeing her for another 4 weeks as im having such a 'textbook' pregnancy. this worries me slightly as im convinced because my pg has been so easy im going to have a terrible birth hahah!!Grin

Flyer747 · 13/08/2013 10:14

I was just reading some silly article on google about pregnancy, birth etc and the similarities to your mothers pregnancy and birth experiences. It appears there are genetic links between mothers and daughters having similar pregnancies.

I hope so because my mum had quick labours with both my sister and myself, I took 1hr 15 to be born, and was born on my due date. Funnily enough I asked my mum the other week and it appears we have had similar pregnancies, probably just a coincidence...fx for that speedy labour GrinGrin

1stTimer25 · 13/08/2013 10:16

Morning all, I have a ball which I use for maybe 30minutes-1hour when my back is really aching and nothing else helps to ease it... I just sit and gently bounce or rock using my legs to push and pull... I did get a sheet with mine which has exercises for my core muscles but I haven't done much with them as my balance isn't that great at the best of times let alone at this stage of pregnancy!

I have a growth scan on Wednesday which we are both looking forward too! Feel very lucky to be getting so many pictures of baby, and seeing the development before he/she is here! Good luck to everyone with appointments this week! Definitely getting close now!!

1stTimer25 · 13/08/2013 10:19

flyer I hope that if there is any truth in that that all ladies who were born easily follow suit! I however hope I don't! My mother had pe and I was born at 28weeks with nearly fatal results for us both! I have had it in the back of my mind throughout my pregnancy but I am now 32+3 so going good so far!

Flyer747 · 13/08/2013 10:43

Yeah maybe not 1stTimer.....Indeed I'm only talking all those mothers who had totally easy pregnancies and births. Grin

MotherOfNations · 13/08/2013 10:48

Well my mum has had 8 easy pregnancies and births. She did need two c-sections, one with my brother who was transverse and another when she had my sisters who are twins.
She gave birth to twin number one fine but then her cervix began to close around twin two's hand. Me and my 3 sisters have 12 children between us and none have had an easy birth experience.

PseudoBadger · 13/08/2013 10:51

Flyer - I come from a line of bad birthers :o My mum was born by emcs, my mum had high BP with me and she then had shoulder dystocia and a forceps birth with me, I had PE and an emcs as DS refused to descend during labour! So there might be truth in it :o

This pregnancy has so far been much better than my pregnancy with DS; I have felt much fitter than then. However things really started to go tits up from 36 weeks so fingers crossed that doesn't happen!

1stTimer25 · 13/08/2013 10:56

I guess every woman and her baby are different, I find it a little fascinating certainly in my experience because I was soooo worried about being similar to my mum but from what my dad has said (unfortunately motherhood was not for my mum so she left) I am very different and touch wood I have been relatively well. But on the other hand relatives have had a fantastic straight forward easy birth with one child and a very difficult time with another! I might sound selfish but I have been completely self indulgent during pregnancy and have focused on myself and what's best for me and touch wood like I say I've been ok :)
Lets hope we all have our gorgeous October babies well and safe and healthily!!

whistlingdixie · 13/08/2013 11:07

Morning ladies, just checking in - its seem I've missed a whole thread and half! Shock... things certainly do move fast on here!

I haven't read through this thread yet but I do hope everyone's still doing well!

With just over 8 weeks to go, now is the time to get my butt in gear and start purchasing labour / baby stuff. A big thanks to the folk who posted up their hospital bag lists 2 threads back. I've been going through it today and have a short list of things to buy this weekend.

Plus DH is searching the internet for a reasonably priced pram and car seat.

It's all starting to feel a bit real Smile

Corkle · 13/08/2013 11:09

Gym balls can help the baby move into the right position and to release tension in your hips and psoas muscle in your lower back.
Good exercises to do are to circle your hips (both directions) whilst sitting on it, stand up with the ball against a wall and in your lower back and curl down from the neck until you are bending over with your lower back pushed into the ball and your hands swinging down towards the ground (this one feels lovely on your back!) and to kneel on the floor and drape yourself over it, then either rock forward and backward or round in circles (gives your belly a nice stretch and it gives beneath the bump so theirs no pressure on it). I would avoid doing any exercises using your core muscles tbh, stick to kegel exercises until after the baby is born.

Corkle · 13/08/2013 11:15

*any extra/strenuous core exercises - sitting on the ball will help you work your core and maintain good posture anyway

claphammama · 13/08/2013 11:21

30 weeks today!! Feels like a massive milestone - just seeing 3 at the front!!

1stTimer Flowers. I also always worry about being like my mum... for many reasons...

flyer I was also born on my due date and both my mum and DP joke that it's the only time in my life I've ever been on time Grin. And when I was pregnant with DS1 my MW told me the same thing - that the way we are pregnant and give birth is genetic. For example she asked me how big I was when I was born and said I was likely to have a baby of the same size. And indeed DS was exactly the same birth weight as me! Otherwise my mum had two normal but long and painful births - oh joy... same as my first labour... another one to look forward to?

MoN... did you say your mum had 8 births...? EIGHT? Including one set of twins...? So NINE children???

hope all goes well with everyone's scans today

PS. Texts exchanged overnight and things patched up with DP. Thanks everyone x

roofio87 · 13/08/2013 11:51

my gran, mum and auntie, and 4 members of my generation have all had quick easy births before or on their due dates, no late babies so im hoping I follow suit haha!!Wink

Flyer747 · 13/08/2013 11:52

Well clapham maybe there is some truth in it then, I guess time will tell. Glad to hear you and dp are friends again Smile

I have reserved a ball on the Argos Website £6.99 for a 65cm one, hope this is the correct size.

Wow MoN 9 children, your mum must have a huge Xmas shopping list Smile
