Hi all! Providing the ladies who are currently in hospital don't give birth before the last 20 posts in our old thread, we've made it to a new one with babies all still staying put for now!

Here's the stats thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/a1694946-September-2013-STATS-THREAD

Welcome newbies! If anyone wants to join the FB group (better for sharing documents and pictures), please message myself or jennimoo with your real life name and email address and we can add you to the group!

Booked for thurs if nothing doing by then.... Eek

Manoodledo · 13/08/2013 21:23

Wow kips, I will be watching this space...

weebarra · 13/08/2013 22:09

Ooh, good luck kips! I'm still in hospital, things tailed off last night. This baby doesn't know if its coming or going!

fl0b0t · 13/08/2013 22:14

Eek how exciting that babies are now really on their way! thinking of you derpress as this may be a really hard Time.

I've sorted my diary fuckup for tomorrow out by cheekily claiming 'emergency midwife appt'rather than 'diary fuckup' to work though I feel that with last week's bit of spotting, midwifes not answering their phone and the impossibility of trying to book appointments. ... it is
really v important that I see the mw (34wk appt at 35+2).

Very pleased not have gone into labour whilst away in York and to be home safely. Been a bit twitchy about driving after my little accident. One more wedding to go and one more full week of work.

Have been having a few period like pains but don't feel anywhere near labour. Could still be seven weeks away if baby is late! !! It's been very wiggly and active still which is a bit painful and very tiring! (but comforting)

Hope everyone is well!

V

Grrrrrrrrr. Woken up at silly o'clock and now can't get back to sleep.

RunningBear78 · 14/08/2013 06:10

Me too rake being kept awake by kicking since about 2.30. Might just get up now and snooze this avo. Feels like some kind of milestone to have such uncomfortable kicks, but one in the same category as first trip to A&E, first poo on the living room carpet etc :D

jennimoo · 14/08/2013 06:13

I've been awake since 4am too :( I'm slightly coldly and that's made me feel sick, and as DH is also coldly he's been snoring really loud...

I have done an online grocery order for a few days time. I've included steak and Brie :)

HettySunshine · 14/08/2013 06:59

I have been awake at least six times during the night. I've only needed to go to the loo once at about 4am but constantly needing to roll over which is such a mammoth task now that I can't do it in my sleep. I'm going to be so tired later Sad

RunningBear78 · 14/08/2013 07:12

Bugger. The second book I have picked up in the past few months which starts with childbirth. In this one the young mother dies, not the baby. horrible.
Do not read a lady cyclists guide to kashar just yet ladies!!!!!

jennimoo · 14/08/2013 07:19

Hetty - I've been wearing a massive satin nightie from matalan, really helps with the rolling. That combined with the waterproof bed pad thingy under me has really helped, although its still a mission!

weebarra · 14/08/2013 07:23

Lady in ward went into labour last night and delivered 10 mins after getting to labour ward. She was induced and did really well but it did sound sore.
I had as good a night's sleep as possible in a hospital but have had a couple of pretty sore contractions since I woke up...

weebarra · 14/08/2013 07:25

Running bear - I downloaded some Jilly Cooper onto my kindle for hospital, incrediby awful but doesn't make me cry Blush .

RakeABedOfTyneFilth · 14/08/2013 08:14

Well I had had nearly five hours sleep before I woke just after 3, so after realising I wasn't going to get back to sleep easily I went downstairs and read my book, then realised I was hungry so had some bread and butter, and at nearly 5am hour attempted a doze on the sofa, which worked. Went back to bed at 5.30 and didn't sleep very well but was more comfortable than the sofa.

Am not going in or doing any work today, just out with DH getting some car seat adapters from kiddicare and a couple of bits of furniture from ikea. And possibly a new mobile phone as mine has crashed quite terminally. Feel crap though, and no real clue why I woke up so completely - I can normally get back to sleep after a wee, or even if it was some BHs, but last night was different.

frogchops · 14/08/2013 08:27

First day of leave today!! Smile
Had a lovel meal out from work last night, and had some lovely gifts and cards. Feels weird to potentially not be going back for a year, I've never not worked!
Have got growth scan later to see how big the lo is....so until then I think its daytime tv for me! And maybe a little nap considering last nights onion rings had me awake with tremendous heartburn all night :-/

andadietcoke · 14/08/2013 08:54

Ooh kips good luck! How exciting! And weebarra how frustrating. How patient are you feeling?!

Today I'll mostly be repacking the babies' hospital bag because at yesterday's scan Twin 2 was estimated at 8lb2oz and all the clothes I've packed are up to 7lb! Twin 1 is 6lb something so should be okay in the first size stuff.

MrsMangoBiscuit · 14/08/2013 09:07

Blimey, just realised I haven't posted on here for over a week. I have been reading regularly though.

Derpess So sorry for your loss, I hope you're doing ok. Joskar, did you give your DH a stern talking to for scaring you like that? Grin I don't know how you're all managing to read, I just can't focus for long enough to lose myself in a book. I normally read quite a lot too. :) Thankfully I'm still sleeping well, but I can very clearly remember all the wakeful nights last time round.

Well yesterday evening was fun, with the main event being false labour. I think bump decided to engage on my way home from work, which sort of kicked things off. Thankfully DH was picking DD and I up from her preschool as I don't think I'd have managed walking up hill to get home. After I'd gotten DD to bed (DH made dinner) I was so uncomfortable I had to lie down for a bit. Wasn't until I'd stopped moving about I realised the pain was coming in waves. Still didn't quite believe it so I decided to purposefully tense up on the next wave. Fuck did that hurt!! Went on for most of the evening, but they never got any stronger. In the end I took some paracetamol and went to bed early. I did manage to get a proper sleep, and everything had stopped by this morning. Just had a google, and false labour can happen weeks before the real thing, so I'm hoping I still have a fair bit of time yet. I don't finish work until the end of the month, and we've not finished DDs room yet.

frogchops · 14/08/2013 09:07

Crikey 8lb 2...and there's two! Might be a stupid question but when you name them, do you have names in mind for 'the heavier one' or will you name them based on which one is out first Blush I've always wondered this!!

JammyTummy · 14/08/2013 09:16

Ooooooh getting excited with the prospect of all these babies!!! Hope everyone who is on baby watch is doing ok.

I am seriously impressed with all you ladies who are still working, you deserve a medal! I've not been feeling too ill/ tired but I think we all know that sometimes it literally just knocks you off your feet without any warning- well done!

Tip on onion rings- Tesco Finest freezer onion rings are the best ones in the world. I just don't know how they make them so... Crunchy... With batter... Yum!

Been reading The Good Birth Companion and it tells you how to differentiate between false labour cramps (I suppose BH) and actual labour- evidently false labour is anything that is low down or even in your back, even if it feels very sore and crampy. Real labour will apparently always start at the top of your bump. Don't know how true this is so maybe someone who's done this before could set us straight!

frogchops · 14/08/2013 09:20

Yes Ive had those jammy! Yummy. I've hot aunt Bessie's at the mo because I had a money off coupon!
Last nights offenders were in a restaurant though, 16 of the buggers. I didnt eat them all. just the majority

jennimoo · 14/08/2013 09:24

When I was in early labour last time it was low down cramps so I suppose it depends. I've had that a few times this time and its cone to nothing so I think I was lucky last time that it progressed so nicely! However I've had some full on all over pains this time that've come to nothing so not sure...

I'm hoping my waters break quite early on again as then at least it's clear I'm supposed to call the hospital / sort child care!

weebarra · 14/08/2013 09:28

Exactly jenni, just wish the waters would go, then the docs would have to do something! I'm 36+4 today and I know they don't want to deliver me early, and I know I'm in the best place, but I just want to be at home with my boys Sad !

andadietcoke · 14/08/2013 09:29

frogchops my mum has a theory that the 'younger' one should have the initial that's earlier in the alphabet so she won't always be second. However, I think we're going for Sophie and Charlotte. Twin 2 has always been the giddier, wrigglier, dominant one, whereas Twin 1 is quieter and obviously a lot smaller. I found out yesterday that Charlotte means 'tiny and feminine' so it seems more appropriate for Twin 1, but I think we'll wait to meet them and see who suits what name!

MrsMangoBiscuit · 14/08/2013 09:36

False labour (or pre labour as some like to call it) are different from BH. Last time my labour started very low down. I was only aware of the contractions reaching the top of my bump after the epidural. Didn't have any false starts last time that I remember, but I've read that they're more common in subsequent pregnancies.

Charlotte and Sophie are lovely names btw. Smile

JammyTummy · 14/08/2013 09:38

I love Sophie & Charlotte! Really nice names and really nice together!
We are also still considering Charlotte, but we'll see what happens when she comes out!

JammyTummy · 14/08/2013 09:39

Hmm at poor info on early labour from my book.!
