Ideally someone else. Back and forth swinging is boy, circles is girl! disclaimer it's all rubbish but fun!

JethroTull · 23/09/2013 20:50

MiniJeff is a baby boy!!! 7lb 5oz. No name as yet.

C-section was more traumatic than I thought, my BP was all over the shop so they kept pumping me full of drugs.

More news later Grin

MsJupiterJones · 23/09/2013 21:03

Congratulations! Wonderful news. Hope you are both doing well.

FrankelInFoal · 23/09/2013 21:10

Hurrah! Well done Jeff, look forward to hearing more when you're up to it.

HadALittleFaith · 23/09/2013 21:18

Hurrah! Congratulations! Welcome to the world miniJeff! Grin Thanks ?? ??

SinkyMalinks · 23/09/2013 21:34

Well done you! And MiniJeff. Hope you are comfy and can relax tonight and enjoy the new baby snuffling.

Nokkie73 · 23/09/2013 22:42

Congrats jeff. So glad you are both ok (apart from the traumatic c-section). Xx

SinkyMalinks · 23/09/2013 22:51

So, Nokkie, does this make you next?

FriendofDorothy · 23/09/2013 23:06

A blue one! Yay!

HadALittleFaith · 24/09/2013 07:09

I was feeding Faithlet at 2am and wondering if you were feeding MiniJeff at the same time jeffers?! Hope the first night went ok and you're not too sore. Nursey advice - don't be a hero, take the painkillers if offered. Ask for them when the pain starts to escalate (it may take a while for them to get to you). This will enable you to mobilise faster and that'll mean you'll have less pain. Genius, no?! :)

FriendofDorothy · 24/09/2013 08:14

I am so pleased for you Jeffers.

I am absolutely knackered today. For about the last month I seem to have come down with absolutely everything going, coughs, colds, sore throats and a low-grade headache I just can't shift.

I am guessing it is because I am still tired, still bf and working.

I'm not moaning, just chuntering this morning!

pinkr · 24/09/2013 13:13

Congratulations! ! Jeff ! A boy...how lovely! And a good size too!
Def try to get out of bed and mobile asap...I was up and in shower after 12 hours and I think mentally it helped greatly.

Out of interest, do we have stats on the number of pink v blue BESHlets?

pinkr · 24/09/2013 16:29

I heard it was more likely to be a boy if ivf...my two friends who had it had boys. I don't know of that's true though!

SinkyMalinks · 24/09/2013 17:29

Really Pinkr? Thats interesting. Any suggestion why? Are boy embies hardier?!

JethroTull · 24/09/2013 17:38

I've been up & about. Had a shower. Had some visitors - my mum was almost beside herself with excitement Smile

Not had any sleep. More visitors from 6-8 & then I'm hoping for a couple of hours snoozing whilst SSG is still here to watch MiniJeff.

Hopefully going home tomorrow. Cannot wait!

FrankelInFoal · 24/09/2013 17:49

Be firm with the visitors Jeff - you need your sleep! Grin

HadALittleFaith · 24/09/2013 18:17

Good on you jeff! Frank is right, the next few days will be tough. Restrict visitors (or get them to go off with miniJeff to the day room while you sleep. Same at home!

If you subscribe to the Shettles principles then IVF boys make sense - girl swimmers are marathon runners, boys are sprinters. In a controlled environment the sprinters have a better chance...or something like that!

pinkr · 24/09/2013 18:38

I don't know why but there is a lot online about the odds etc of boys v girls.

Jeff try to get some rest...when I was in the midwives took little pink at night for a bit so I got some rest which was nice!
Don't be scared to say no to visitor too...get them to come when you're ready.

HadALittleFaith · 24/09/2013 21:54

The midwives took Faithlet for me too. Velcro baby only wanted to sleep on me. I felt like the worst Mum in the world but I absolutely needed it. One student midwife held her for about 1 1/2 hours at one point! Good job she was light!

MsJupiterJones · 25/09/2013 00:46

Ooh Jeff just thinking about those first nights makes me go a bit fuzzy. I took some photos of him holding my finger in the dark & I love looking at them. Weirdly I have no recollection of seeing any staff during the night, don't know if they popped round to check on us but considering I was whacked out on morphine and immobile from the waist down it's lucky I didn't drop him or something. I did his first nappy change on my chest! Enjoy yourself and all those snuggles.

My two IVF friends each have G+B twins so no help here with the theories.

Ginfox · 25/09/2013 06:36

Ladies, the week of drama continues (apologies to those who have read this in t'other place):

Started bleeding again on Monday evening, quite heavy until about 3am when it stopped. Was scanned in EPC yesterday, and baby is fine BUT the sac from the lost twin is collapsing and trying to pull the healthy sac away from the wall of the uterus. So there is still a chance we could lose the healthy baby.

Will have my proper dating scan on 15th Oct, by which time we will be in the safety zone and can relax a bit. Meanwhile I must avoid any strenuous activity, including picking J up (I was gardening on Sunday, which I suspect started this bleed).

Please channel your best velcro-ey thoughts in this direction.

Ginfox · 25/09/2013 06:42

Congratulations Jeff, wonderful news.

Agree about keeping visitors at bay until you've had a bit of time to recover. I found bfing incredibly hard at first, but was much easier not having to try and cover up for the sake of visitors (my sis later admitted she didn't realise she would become quite so familiar with my boobs!)

FrankelInFoal · 25/09/2013 07:11

Oh Gin I'm so sorry that you have had more bleeding. Is there anything they can do about the empty sac? Some drugs that will stop your body trying to shed it for a few weeks? Just make sure you follow instructions and take it very easy.

Hope you had a good night Jeff and that you get to go home today.

On the boy v girl numbers, I'm just being curious. This is not an IVF baybee as although I took the drucks, we did the shagging ourselves Wink

FrankelInFoal · 25/09/2013 07:13

Argh, that sounds patronising! Not what I meant! Oh FFS you know what I mean Confused
