Normally once a week in summer, more like once a fortnight in winter as I wear jumpers and jeans more than once between washes and we get less sweaty in bed!! I do 3 loads, dark, light and bedding. Air dried on the balcony. I couldn't cope with any more frequently than that!! I think you are domestic saints!

Wickedgirl · 01/08/2013 20:48

I too do huge amounts of washing. Clothes and bed clothes get washed after one wear, towels are used once if they are used after the pool (chlorine smells) or twice if they are used after baths. Everyone has their own towel. Bedding washed once a week......more if it looks grubby. 2 adults and 3 children make a lot of washing! In my house, it is me that likes everything to be clean, dh is often telling me to wash things less often but I want the children to look clean.

My last baby had dreadful reflux so created loads of washing all by himself. This time I hope to get a baby that isn't so sick all of the time!

ananikifo · 01/08/2013 20:57

Phew! What a day! I took today off work so I could rest and do what I wanted rather than rushing back to work after my wc vaccine.

So I had my injection and spent the afternoon shopping. I had a look at things like carrycot mattresses, and I bought stuff like breast pads and maternity pads. I've banned myself from buying baby clothes and have been forcing myself to buy what we actually need.

All in all it was very productive but I absolutely exhausted and my feet are killing me. By the end of the night it was painful to walk and we salesman commented in how uncomfortable I must be. Blush. I find that kind of comment very embarrassing.

Sanji I hope your gtt comes back negative, but if it doesn't please remember it's not your fault and it just happens to some women. There's lots you can do to keep yourself and baby healthy with GDM and you would get support from the team at your hospital. (But remember you don't definitely know you have it!)

MotherOfNations · 01/08/2013 21:08

cuillereasoupe strangely enough our electricity bill is only £17 per month. I don't understand it as we live in a 3 storey 4 bed house.

Shirehobbit · 01/08/2013 21:17

Note to self - do not watch DIY SOS while pregnant and hormonal!
Was going to have a little moan after a naff day, but have regained a sense of perspective Blush

MrsO27 · 01/08/2013 21:58

Hi all, lots of midwife appointments today! I had my 28 week check today too. All seems to be ok and got the whooping cough jab.
I'm not due until 23rd October so feeling a bit behind all the ladies due next month. Looking forward to all the baby announcements though.
We're getting new flooring fitted in the downstairs hall and utility room so washing machine and dryer out of action. I've bought fairy non bio (gel is on offer in sainsburys) and comfort pure for washing baby clothes. Can't wait to get started on it. Sure that novelty will wear off soon enough! We also have a ceiling hung washing pulley in our utility room which is great. The people who lived here before fitted it and not something i would ever have thought about, but wouldnt be without it now. Great for keeping washing out of the way when it's drying and I'm sure washing dries quicker on the pulley than if hanging on a standard clothes horse.

PseudoBadger · 01/08/2013 22:02

I had whooping cough jab today at my doctors. It was fine but my arm hurts a bit now.

MrsO27 · 01/08/2013 22:12

Mine too pseudo. I was told to take paracetamol or use a cold compress if I need to, but it's ok at the moment.

Tarlia · 01/08/2013 22:14

Wow you chatty lot. Just caught up and poking my nose in.

We do at least one wash a day with 3 of us. It's a combined washer drier, though find the drier function pretty useless and only use if for towels.

I have reflux too, awful :(. I hardly even had heartburn last pregnancy. Sympathise with anyone else who has it.

Mon I'm sorry your DP boss being so insensitive. Goodness, doesn't she understand the stress and pressure you have and are still under!? Grr.

I've forgotten everything else..

Natalieand · 01/08/2013 22:17

Evening all. I have already forgotten half of what I read!

Washing: I so probly about 5 loads a week I think that's for me dh and dd, pyjamas get washed after one use, dd's clothes all get washed after one use, mine and dh's stuff all gets washed after one use too except jeans, mainly cos they take a couple if wears before they are comfy again lol.
flyer I couldn't live without my drier even tho I only dry underwear socks pyjamas towels and bedding I tend to air everything else as I hate shrinkage.

MoN sounds like desperate dan is having a lucky escape from they company with his contract expiring in nov, they so like to make things difficult for u don't they!

sanji one of my blood sugars came back too high in a routine blood test I have since done two fasting GTT's and both came back perfectly normal so try not too worry too much. X

Glad all other appts went smoothly today x

A friend of mine gave birth to a 8lb2oz baby boy today on his due date :-) nothing more exciting than hearing about new babies :-)

I'm having a major dress drama over here- my sister is getting married on Saturday and I just tried my dress on and its almost as if the seamstress hasn't bothered making the alterations that she pinned in place -(cue last minute stressing at the dress shop in the morning)

psuedo have a lovely holiday xx

Natalieand · 01/08/2013 22:19

tarlia we too have a washer/drier combined as that's all we have space for and I find it takes a long time to try too that's why I only use it for what I have too x

Flyer747 · 01/08/2013 22:19

I wash bedding once a week, dp's
Job is to put the duvet cover back on I do pillow cases and sheet, I hate domestic chores. Umlauf I'm the same as you jeans get washed every 2 weeks, I shower daily so it's not like I smell, towels I do once a week, I feel like a right minger compared to you ladies that wash towels daily, maybe I need to up the ante.

Flyer747 · 01/08/2013 22:23

MrsO those pulley things for hanging washing are fab my nan has one I love it, such a good idea for easy drying

OrangeBlossom2 · 01/08/2013 22:42

We don't wash towels daily either flyer! Only underwear and tops get washed every time or anything that gets sweaty like dresses in the summer. I don't feel particularly grubby leaving jeans, bedding, jumpers that go over t shirts a few wears between washes. Maybe I am!

My brother has just text to say he is having another baby in January. We don't really speak but if I meet the new girlfriend another cousin a similar age to my little one might be nice. He tends to get in touch when he is having babies and then disappear for month/years unfortunately.

Shirehobbit · 01/08/2013 22:51

We're on a similar washing schedule, flyer and orange.

It's going to be a long, warm night....

PseudoBadger · 01/08/2013 22:56

Me too re. the washing.

tuckingfits · 02/08/2013 00:16

Our electricity bill would be even more outrageous if I washed stuff more often than I do. We are pretty clean, wash every day, put dirty stuff in the washing basket

DS's clothes & towels get washed after each wear, always have done, don't know when I'll reduce the frequency... However, it still takes several days to fill his washing basket. DP is a joiner so gets pretty dirty on a regular basis, he has a few sets of work wear, I wash these separately to everything else to spare the rest of us the joy of wood shavings in our clothes! His non-work stuff doesn't get worn that often, but I just pick it up off the floor when I've had enough of walking around it/over it. My stuff gets washed when it's heading towards grubby - doesn't take long with a toddler boy & a young springer spaniel. I reckon I do two loads for DS, two loads for me - one with DP's non work stuff included, one load of his work stuff, I wash towels & bedding (mine & DP's) once a week & DS's bedding once a week unless he has wee'd out of his nappy & all over his bed (grrr).

The washing machine lives in the garage, we also have a tumble dryer that we inherited when we bought the house. Living on the wet west coast of Scotland, I do not know how we would get stuff dry otherwise. I don't use it for everything, & as often as I can I hang stuff on the washing line outside. I have had the pulleys in other houses & loved them, they are so handy but our ceilings are not high enough in this house to have one. I have two airers that I use a lot, but in the winter I do tend to bung as much as I can in the dryer because our house does have some dampness issues & I think damp washing hanging about would exacerbate it.

It is in my master plan for DP doing the baby's room, that a door way is going to be moved, allowing "us" to cap off the end of the hall way between the childrens' rooms & create an airing cupboard. This will hopefully reduce my reliance on the tumble dryer & thereby our electricity bills.

The visiting dog went home this afternoon & the peace & relaxation that has followed this evening has been blissful!!

TheFalconsmistress · 02/08/2013 01:50

Can't sleep :( going to watch some crap tv

PseudoBadger · 02/08/2013 05:28

My DP is a joiner too Tucking, got to love those dusty, painty clothes :o

Hope you slept falcon?

My arm is so sore today after my jab yesterday and sleeping on it (it's my left one) hasn't made it any better. And now DS is up for the day, what joy.

Oh well we go on holiday today so that's good!

OrangeBlossom2 · 02/08/2013 06:31

I am not sure that I slept at all last night. Hot and sticky and really achey hips/back so laying still hurt but so did moving to a different position. The chiropractor fixed me for about two hours!

How are all the ill people feeling today?

Tarlia · 02/08/2013 06:36

Have a lovely holiday, badger.

ComtesseDeFrouFrou · 02/08/2013 07:14

Yuck, so hot and sticky last night - woke up several times drenched in sweat. Add to that the cramp that woke me up soni was shouting "Fuck! Fuck!", not a great night Sad.

Not that DH deemed to notice Hmm.

Day off today soni can potter about and nap. Plus brought my ML forward a week, so only 5 weeks left, hurray!

OrangeBlossom2 · 02/08/2013 07:22

Ooh thunder - yay!

Tarlia · 02/08/2013 07:25

Sounds a bit like my night, comtesse, except not cramp, reflux. My bump is also getting so heavy that I can only lay in one position for so long, moving wakes me and if I lean on my bump just a tiny bit the baby goes insane. This is such a different pregnancy from my last!

/whinge.

ComtesseDeFrouFrou · 02/08/2013 07:41

Oh dear Tarlia, reflux is horrid.
