Hi All

sanj I was on Yasmin too and I found it ok but you have to go to the GP here to get it as it's more expensive so family planning won't prescribe it. It did give me mood swings though so I switched to fermadette light which I found good. Just don't like the idea of taking a daily pill for the rest of my life :)

Not sure how I feel about same day discharge. I guess if I'm on a ward I would welcome it but in a private room I think I'd rather stay a night. DS was born at 2.30am and dh was kicked out at 3.30 and told to come back in the morning (which meant late morning as he was tired and had a bit of a lie in, grrr). I had to stay 2 nights because my waters had been broken for more than 24 hours so there is an infection risk. I liked having the midwives on hand but maybe with my second I'll be happy just to get home.

slippy that's awful, hope you're ok and feeling better today.

Happy birthday for yesterday sanji and orange.

Rough night here too as ds is getting molars on both sides top and bottom so kept wakening in pain. Poor little mite. I think I'll need some matchsticks to keep me awake in work today

Have a good holiday clapham

OrangeBlossom2 · 31/07/2013 08:47

Are you feeling better now slippy?

Slippysnow · 31/07/2013 08:57

I think so, haven't attempted to eat yet and feeling v empty. Thanks for the sympathy :) I really don't want dp to get it now, that will be another bad night for me.

My hospital's protocol is they kick you out after 6 hours unless you give birth at night, then you leave in the morning. Unless there are complications, bit different to when my mum had me - I think you was expected to stay in a week after.

roxvox · 31/07/2013 09:11

Happy Birthday for yesterday Sanji!

I hope you're feeling better today slippy. Sounds like a terrible night.

I have set myself daily mobile reminders (3 times a day) to remind me to do my pelvic floor exercises. I am doing 5 x 5 second holds... does that sound like enough? Man I hate doing them.

thethreeblondies · 31/07/2013 09:12

I was up late in to the evening too Slippy but mine was the other end! Churning stomach followed by a rather explosive evacuation, I get IBS periodically but don't think it was triggered by food as normal, like u baby was rolling around happy, not helping the churning feeling! Hope ur feeling better xx

OrangeBlossom2 · 31/07/2013 09:14

Roxvox my midwife said at least 60 a day and that the Lng hold ones are most important, my app says 100 a day. I never manage that. I do about 5 when I think of it. Must do better...

thethreeblondies · 31/07/2013 09:21

Squeeze, squeeze, squeeeeezzeeee!! lets all do them together!!

roxvox · 31/07/2013 09:46

orange - 100 a day?! I am not sure that my body can take that! I struggle with 5 every 4 hours!

OP posts:
MotherOfNations · 31/07/2013 09:54

I've been doing them religiously every day since my teens. There are various apps to show you how to do them properly. I've got one that's meant to send you a reminder but it never works. I've got into the habit of doing them while mumsnetting.
I lift my muscles gradually like a lift rising for a count of 10 then hold for 10, then do some rapid squeezes.

PseudoBadger · 31/07/2013 10:00

Oh dear - if I gave less of a damn about work today I'd be dangerous! My poor employer....

roxvox · 31/07/2013 10:28

pseudo I am the same. Can't get the number of days left at work countdown out of my head and so am struggling to focus. To be fair, if I had a project to focus on then it wouldn't be so bad.

Has anyone actually had any cravings? It's the first thing that people ask me whenever we talk about me being pregnant, but I haven't had any cravings and can't remember anyone on here mentioning anything in particular.

OP posts:
roxvox · 31/07/2013 10:30

Sorry MoN, I missed your message there. I will try your method of much slower holds then... Do they get easier?! I can't do them at the minute without it being obvious in my facial expression that I am doing something (i.e. I couldn't do proper ones in a meeting or anything).

OP posts:
MotherOfNations · 31/07/2013 10:41

I've never really found them hard. I can hold indefinetly. Maybe your facial expression doesn't really change and you just feel like it does roxvox

Flyer747 · 31/07/2013 10:41

Sorry to hear you aren't well Slippy.

Can i ask a question, for the past 3 days my baby has been very quiet, i am still getting movement but not as strong and only about 3 episodes per day for about 15 mins max, how often do you feel your baby moving/kicking etc? I know all babies are different but wondered if my movements are particulary slow not enough etc. I just don't want to call the midwife or maternity assesment if i'm panicing for no reason, and don't want to waste everyones time by going to the maternity hospital. Thanks

BowlFullofJelly · 31/07/2013 10:52

Hi Flyer - you know we are all going to say get checked out if you are concerned Smile.

I certainly notice a change in movements - she will have a few days where she is quieter, and just when I am getting to the point of thinking that I'm going to go and get monitored, she starts going crazy again. I did notice at about 24 weeks and then 28 weeks I had a quieter period, which I think corresponds with a sudden increase with amniotic fluid.

But seriously, just get in touch with the midwife, it's what they are there for.

OrangeBlossom2 · 31/07/2013 11:02

I agree, call if only for reassurance flyer.

roxvox · 31/07/2013 11:30

flyer I have been reading for weeks now that I should expect to feel reduced movement soon, so it is probably just that. However I would probably get in touch with your midwife just for mental reassurance that everything is ok.

OP posts:
MotherOfNations · 31/07/2013 11:33

Flyer a reduction in movement can be normal around now but it's always better to get checked if you're worried.
Was just thinking I've not noticed jellycurls posting for a while.

MotherOfNations · 31/07/2013 11:34

Crosspost with roxvox

roxvox · 31/07/2013 11:45

jellycurls is on holiday in Spain for 2 weeks MoN! She said that she probably wouldn't have wifi and so wouldn't be able to post, but will catch up in August Smile

OP posts:
Warlin · 31/07/2013 11:51

flyer are you at home? Sit down, put on some really loud music, take an ice cold drink and place a heavy plate on your stomach. The baby should react to at least one of those! If not, then call your midwife. There is less room in there now and sleeping patterns are more established so it's normal to get days that are quieter. Also I think sometimes I don't notice the movements if I'm engrossed in other things. Try not to worry, I'm sure baby is fine. As everyone says, he will start going crazy just as you are mid conversation with the midwife :)

pseudo I'm the same, work is killing me these days. So hard to be motivated when I'm so tired and distracted. 20 days to go.....

pinkbuttons · 31/07/2013 11:53

How are you feeling slippy ? Hope your managing to keep some water down now, you poor thing, always think is worse when baby i wriggling as well doesnt help with feeling sick.

roxvox when I was working on postnatal ward we told people to aim for 10 long holds of 10 seconds and 10 short squeezes. The short ones help with stress incontinence so when you sneeze or cough and long ones are for general strength. I do mine every time I go to the toilet(when Im at home) so 4-5 times a day is the only way I can remember.

flyer I have noticed babies movement being less fast now am 30+4 but am still feeling her throughout the day, agree with everyone else if your worried its worth phoning just to check xx

Happy Birthday for yesterday sanji
Mine is tomorrow and DH has been the most romantic hes ever been, printed off menu choices for a secret fancy restaurant so I could check what I wanted and what I was allowed to eat with pregnancy rules. Hed taken all of the prices off so I wouldnt worry about money and it made me cry (bloody hormones)

MotherOfNations · 31/07/2013 11:58

Oh yes I remember now roxvox. Bloody baby brain.

roxvox · 31/07/2013 12:12

I can't say that my brain is any better MoN, I had to do a name search on the last thread to see what JellyCurls had to say last and that's how I "remembered" she's on holiday Smile

That's a good call to do it when you're on the toilet pinkbuttons. And at the minute that means I will be doing the exercises about 15 times a day!

star87 · 31/07/2013 12:19

flyer - if you are worried about it then get checked out. Always best to be safe than sorry :)

I've been doing so exercise but nowhere near enough and am now feeling very bad about it! I like the idea of daily reminders, might set them up on my phone!

I've just got back from my 28 week midwife check up and she is arranging for me to have a scan as I am only measuring 25 weeks. Has anyone else had one of these? I am a very petite person anyway which may play a factor is a smaller baby. Plus the midwife said that the baby is lying across my stomach which means she cannot get an accurate measurement.

Just did a quick google search and have managed to scare myself!!
