Oops I meant pseudo.

Warlin · 30/07/2013 14:29

Ha ha "Falcon"..you'll not get much sympathy for that "problem" Grin

I hate contraception! The pill makes me moody and I hate that all forms seem to have some side effects like weight gain, migraines etc...ideally I would like dh to get the snip, although it is very final and although he is adament he doesn't want any more, it feels a bit final.

I was pretty confident that I knew my cycles well enough to use the natural form but I'm not sure I would want to rely on that...eek!

The health visitor will discuss options anyway once the baby is born.

pseudo great news on growth...what is polydramnios?

pinkbuttons · 30/07/2013 14:36

haha falcon I love this thread.

I got pregnant whilst on the pill with DS so after him, I tried the coil but bled for 3 months so then decided to try the patch which worked so much better for me as only had to change ot once a week and it isnt affected of you have an upset tummy like the pill was (which was what happened with DS)
roxvox I had my coil fitted at 6 weeks, they were desperate to get me on contraception, I remember being quite insulted at the time that everyone kept asking about it at every appt. Turns out its because of your increased fertility as already mentioned Smile

Glad growth is good pseudo what does that mean re: increased fluid, will they just need to monitor you closer?
Hope your feeling better falcon

cazboldy · 30/07/2013 15:01

Lol at you lot Grin

Hope all is OK Pseudo xx

MotherOfNations · 30/07/2013 15:01

I got pregnant on pill twice. The first time was the mini pill but I didn't know then that because I was very overweight I should have been taking a double dose. The second I had lost most of the weight but still got pregnant. I never missed a pill, was never sick or on antibiotics. It was a shock because ds was only 3mths old at the time.

chickieno1 · 30/07/2013 15:03

falcon Grin

PseudoBadger · 30/07/2013 15:04

Well it's weird it really is. So the scan showed an excess of amniotic fluid. Midwife says my bump is dead on 29 weeks. So god knows where all this fluid is!!

The MW had to decide whether to send me to the day unit to see a doctor today or to get me an appointment before my next scheduled one at 34 weeks. So basically I have a doctor appointment at 32 weeks, and then another scan and doctor appointment at 34 weeks. I don't think they're too worried but I've no idea really...

The anti d hurt a lot today, the most painful dose of that I've ever had :(

Hope everyone's doing ok x

chickieno1 · 30/07/2013 15:08

pseudo I had borderline polyhydramnios with ds. I would say midwives were more concerned than consultant. I had a few extra quick scans to check fluid as time went on and as anomaly scan had been fine earlier consultant wasn't too worried. All was fine in the end but I know I was worried at the time. It's good that growth is fine!

Happy birthday orange!

Have a lovely holiday clapham

PseudoBadger · 30/07/2013 15:19

Thank you Chickie, i'm not worrying too much (or googling!) Found out today that I'm allowed to have someone stay with me overnight after my section which is fantastic! It's something they've brought in since I had DS there.

MotherOfNations · 30/07/2013 15:28

I wish they done that here Pseudo.
I'm worried that they may try and put me in a private room after my cs as Eliana will probably be in special care for a while.
They done this when I had dd2 as she had group b strep. They probably thought they were doing me a favour and that I wouldn't want to be on a ward with mums who had their babies with them but I hated it. She was only in special care for a few hours and when I got her back I missed having the company of other mums during night feeds.

textbook · 30/07/2013 15:30

I'm going to go back on the pill after dd2 arrives - I use Yasmin and it really helps with my skin (I get horrible hormonal acne, although being preg seems to have helped) and my horrendous pmt! My dp has also decided he wants to have the snip, which I think is very sensible as we will be financially very stretched with this baby until I can (hopefully!) get some sort of promotion when I return to work.

Has anyone else started nesting like crazy? Suddenly, all I can think about is the amount of unused junk filling up our precious space, and am cleaning and tidying almost constantly! I have thrown out 6 bin bags full of stuff since Sunday evening Grin

textbook · 30/07/2013 15:31

Oh, and happy birthday orange! Hope you have a lovely day Thanks

PseudoBadger · 30/07/2013 15:33

That's interesting MoN - I was put in a private room when DS was taken to NICU. When he came back 2 days later I'll admit that the 5 remaining nights we were in were long and torturous - but I'd never even considered I was missing out on community spirit. It's nice to know that there's comrarderie (sp?) on the PN wards!

Warlin · 30/07/2013 15:52

I fear being on a ward. I panicked when they tried to put me there last time. It was so stuffy and although there are only 6 bays I couldn't cope with the noise and other labouring woman around me. I refused to sit on the bed and demanded a move..which I got! I just needed to prepare myself and not have the fuss of everyone else there, groaning and moaning. Maybe it's different afterwards but I'm a bit anti social really and value my en suite facilities and privacy :) Scared they will do the same this time.

pseudo try not to worry. It's a good sign the growth is on target and extra scans mean extra glimpses of baby!

MotherOfNations · 30/07/2013 15:54

I loved being on the ward Pseudo We'd all take turns to make hot chocolate in the ward kitchen to sip on while we sat feeding and gossiping.

BowlFullofJelly · 30/07/2013 16:08

I also hated the post natal ward - I just wanted to be at home with DP in my own bed, with my own bathroom, getting to grips with being a mummy. I didn't enjoy being kept awake all night by other babies! Plus the midwives were vile. Hoping for a nice same day discharge this time - everything crossed!

MotherOfNations · 30/07/2013 16:16

Strangely other babies crying never woke me. Just my own. I didn't like the postnatal ward in the hospital where I had ds. I was only 19 so they put me on a ward with other teenage mums and the girl opposite complained that me sitting in bed feeding was distracting her boyfriend. I didn't have anything on show so not like he could see anything.

GTbaby · 30/07/2013 16:19

Happy birthday orange.

Mon any tips on how to cope with such a small gap. I also got preg when ds was 3months.

See I usually use pill. But the forgetful side of me thinks I need a better option. Coil is a no no. I can not Handel the internal. Injection/implants I'm worried about having a reaction to hormones and not bring able to stop easily.

Oh well. Hunger is over taking me. So I'm gona have some left over spag Bol. Yum

pinkbuttons · 30/07/2013 16:20

Interesting to hear everyones post birth experiences. I hated being on the ward, after being awake for 72 hrs I just wanted to sleep, my DS was born by ventouse so had a huge blister on the back of his head and screamed most of the night. Only one other lady had had her baby and I just spent the entire night stressing about him waking other people and not knowing what to do with a newborn baby. Hoping to go into labour in the morning this time and be home in time for bed Smile Brilliant that your DH can stay pseudo! and glad all was ok at your appt in the end.

OrangeBlossom2 · 30/07/2013 16:30

It doesn't seem like they are too worried then pseudo. Maybe you are just over the normal threshold by a little bit.

Thanks for the birthday wishes! Still waiting for the man to come and shave our doors so can't really relax. He will be here any time before 5.

I was on the pill for about 7 years but came off it when I got benign cysts on my cervix. I am not sure if the two were linked but I wanted to stop. Used condoms for the last 5 years with no problems and will go back to them after the baby arrives because we want another one relatively soon and don't want to take anything that interferes with hormones.

Got lots of parcels today, I love post! Been reading the "your baby week by week" book that my friend reccomended.

Yes to nesting and wanting to clear out rubbish, our local charity shop is doing well, but unfortunately I also want to buy lots of new stuff!

MotherOfNations · 30/07/2013 16:32

No tips really GT I found it all so easy back then because I had youth on my side. I had 3 under 3 by the time I was 21.
It's a lot harder now that they are older and just bicker constantly.

TheFalconsmistress · 30/07/2013 16:35

I am back! So baby is going to be big but they don't think I gestational diabetes as my fluid levels are normal so they don't seem worried all i know is she is on to be more than my DS he was 8lb 1 she looks as if she will be more.

Grin I know it does not seem an problem but its really difficult to find ones that fit and am not sure If i want more babies after this!!

TheFalconsmistress · 30/07/2013 16:37

glad your appointment went well too pseudo :)

and Happy birthday orange Flowers

OrangeBlossom2 · 30/07/2013 16:39

I am hoping for a private room or better still to be discharged within a few hours, I hate being in hospital, even to visit. They are hot, cramped, noisy, smelly places and I doubt I will be able to relax until I am home. They discharge you after 4-6 hours if all ok at Kingston according to colleagues who have been there recently.

Ah carpet fitters here to shave the doors. Hooray!

Shootingstarsandcomets · 30/07/2013 16:43

Grin at falcon what a dreadful problem!!
I'm hoping for a private room again too especially if I have another cs, made such a difference being able to sleep at night and having my own bathroom. Luck of the draw though I guess.
