Victor just took the bottle from DH!!!! No crying or anything, just went for it. Yay!

Cavort · 04/09/2013 15:21

Mother I am wearing crop tops rather than nursing bras around the house as they are just so comfy and easy to pull up or down for feeding.

Hazle I can't explain how as it's far too technical for me but Google or someone more literate in IT should be able to explain how, but you can access BBC iPlayer and other free on demand services form abroad by going via a UK based server first to trick the site into thinking you are in the UK. DH did this while we were on holiday in Italy so we could watch the final of The Apprentice we are that sad, and my family who live in Germany also do it. They also have a Sky subscription registered to a UK address so they can access full Sky content from their house in Germany, so maybe you could do this if you have a friend in the UK who doesn't have Sky and wouldn't mind you using their address?

After this week's feeding frenzy, I got a bit paranoid that my milk supply was dwindling and read that eating oats boosts supply. Shopping has just been delivered and not sure what DH is going to say when he sees how many flapjacks I have bought. Blush Nope, porridge just wouldn't have cut it.... Grin

Cavort · 04/09/2013 15:22

Hooray for Victor bottle victory!!! Parents 1, Victor 0! Grin

MotherOfCleo · 04/09/2013 15:25

My thinking exactly Hazel, the ones I got don't have that much support but they will do for a few days in hospital and then afterwards for sleeping in. Smile Plus if I need more support I can wear them both at the same time. Then once I know how much bigger my stupidly big, now F cup boobs are going to get I can buy some proper maternity bras, I assume they are the best option when breastfeeding?

MotherOfCleo · 04/09/2013 15:26

Oh and whoop whoop to Victor deciding bottle is not the enemy!!

Haha cavort nah if you need oats you need flapjacks, porridge is yucky. Grin

HazleNutt · 04/09/2013 15:30

not to scare you mother but I'm now an HH cup Grin
You need nursing bras, not all maternity bras have the drop cups, some are just fugly soft cup bras for wearing during pregnancy. I never bothered with those.

OP posts:
MotherOfCleo · 04/09/2013 15:54

Wowsers hazel, I'm freaked out by the F cup, I feel like I'm carrying melons around with me. Those HH puppies will need strapping down when you're at the gym Wink Wink.

Ahh yeah those were the ones I was thinking of, right idea wrong name.... ooops. Blush

Purplemonster · 04/09/2013 18:20

I haven't bothered with a bra at all, haven't bought one since I grew out of mine in pregnancy I've just got stretchy little crop tops. I'm lucky to have boobs that don't really require structural support though so you can't tell I'm not wearing one Grin

Have any of you developed wonky boobs or is it just me? One side has always produced a LOT more milk than the other and it's starting to look noticeably bigger. Please tell me this is temporary, I'm rather fond of my norks, especially now they're a bit bigger and would be rather upset if they ended up lopsided especially since having a baby has already ruined plenty of other body parts

Cavort · 04/09/2013 20:53

Purple I have got one slightly bigger than the other and I always get more milk from the bigger one when expressing, but it's not really noticeable unless you look for it.

My friend's baby has only ever latched onto one boob even though both seemed to have plenty of milk in the early days, so after a few weeks she had one boob which was massive and the other was normal size and she was understandably quite self-conscious about it. She also got Mastitis in the non-used boob a few times and nearly gave up BFing, but persevered and as the milk in her 'good' boob settled down it reduced in size so it isn't that much bigger than the other one now and baby still only takes the one boob.

Alexandra6 · 04/09/2013 21:06

I had to come on and tell you how strong my baby is getting - I just had a tray resting on the bump, as I stuffed my face with food, and the baby jabbed the tray away so it actually moved! Amazing! Shock

Purplemonster · 04/09/2013 22:14

Aww how sweet Alex...unfortunately the violence doesn't end with them trying to kick your ribs in. Before you know it your little darling will be pulling your hair, head butting, punching, kicking and poking you in the eye. My little angel also puked all over me while I was feeding her this evening, repeatedly, then all over her dad while I was trying to mop puke off myself then daddy changed her and she weed all over him Grin

janey1234 · 04/09/2013 22:18

Agreed purple. I went out for a few hours today and got back with sick on my top and bra, and all down my cleavage, and poo on my jeans. Couldn't be much further from being a yummy mummy - unfortunately I think I'm more of a scummy mummy type Hmm

MotherOfCleo · 04/09/2013 23:10

Absolutely livid with my OH Sad

I'm in bed, lights off just about to sleep and he says, oh I take it you didnt see the huge spider on the stairs. Now Im not a huge spider phob but I cant rest if I know one is around I have to kill it, alas its now know where to be found. So Im sleeping on a mattress on the floor in the nursery. (the spare room mattress is hard and gives me bump ache). Why are men so shit, he sees it as a huge joke, when I actually have a true fear. I dont take him up ladders and laugh at his fear of heights. Sad Sad Sad So pissed off right now, just what I need right now is a shit nights sleep. Sad

MotherOfCleo · 04/09/2013 23:13

sorry for random typos.....angry typing.

BelissimaLol · 05/09/2013 00:27

Wow great news on weight gain and jabs cav!
Lol at babies making us yummy dirty mummy!!!
Well Lara's belly button looks fab Grin. Dry and the extra bit of flesh went black and fell off.
Slightly worse news in that she refused a bottle for the first time this evening. So it's 2oz down the sink Hmm.
How do you defrost BM generally? Just put it in hot water or leave it in the fridge? I will have to try one of my frozen bottles tomorrow before I go out for dinner with dh on Friday and leave her with mum in case she decides she won't take bottles anymore!

Cavort · 05/09/2013 04:44

Good news on kung foo baby Alex but you won't be saying that when you are being very regularly beaten up from the inside. Grin

I also now live most of my life with a small patch of baby sick on one or both shoulders. I have taken to carrying a spare top in the changing bag. I suppose I should be thankful it hasn't been poo on my clothes yet.

I hope you are getting some sleep Mother and not having Arachnophobia-style nightmares. Grin

Lol we try to defrost BM in the fridge but we're not always organised enough so sometimes end up defrosting a bag in warm water. I don't really freeze that much tbh as it keeps 5 days in the fridge so I can usually build up a decent stash in the fridge for a night out and then freeze what doesn't get used.

MotherOfCleo · 05/09/2013 07:32

I agree with cavort alex, my little ninja is actually a bit of a bully now, it's pretty uncomfy and I know it will only get worse. Wink

Spider was found and dispatched, OH is still a shit though.

lol hope it was a one off and she is happy to take it again today!

Random question but did anyone else find it annoying that baby clothes are so colour stereotyped? I don't want a boy who only wears blue but cant seem to find sleepsuit packs in yellow/red/green etc.....finding it a bit annoying. Although saying that I bought my friends little girl all pink girly stuff as I enjoyed looking at the uber girly bits for a change.

HazleNutt · 05/09/2013 07:43

lol hopefully was just an isolated incident. I'm glad though I didn't listen to all the people telling me that I should keep insisting and just let him cry until he takes the bottle - was way better for our sanity to find a teat he liked. Maybe try some different ones as well?

mother I have massive issues with that, all boys clothes are blue or brown with some stupid "little monkey" slogans and tractors. Don't care much for the pink princess glitter either. I often buy Victor "girls' clothes" - why would a simple vest be for girls only just because it's purple or orange? He looks so cute in bright clear colours.

OP posts:
MotherOfCleo · 05/09/2013 08:02

Thats what I want hazel, reds, oranges, yellows, greens etc....I don't want a 50 shades of blue baby. I totally agree the the slogans too, maybe we should go into business making baby clothes Grin

CatsCantFlyFast · 05/09/2013 08:06

Don't know if this will be any help/good but www.pinkstinks.org.uk/pinkstinks-approved.html
Their blurb says its a list of companies that provide products that are not gender specific, and there's some clothes companies in there

Cavort · 05/09/2013 08:50

Mother it seems there is no escaping the gender stereotyping on baby clothes, but I have found some brands are worse than others (for girls clothes at least - I obviously haven't paid much attention to boys). For example, Newborn at Next is all baby pink and hideous imo, but their older baby stuff is not so bad, and M&S and Sainsburys baby girl stuff is more bold colours and therefore much less 'girly.' I can cope with a certain degree of pinkness as long as it's not pink overload, but my personal bugbear is slogans. Personal choice, but I just can't stand baby clothes with 'Daddy's Little Princess,' 'Mummy's Cheeky Monkey,' etc. written on them. And 'Baby on Board' car signs and car window blinds with pictures on are also a big no no for me.

MotherOfCleo · 05/09/2013 09:15

haha cavort my thoughts exactly. So I'm obv a miserable bugger too. I've heard good things about sainsburys so shall nip down at the weekend. Thanks Grin

Cheers merk shall have a looky.

Purplemonster · 05/09/2013 09:24

I'm a miserable bugger too, I don't like pink and I hate slogans, particularly the nauseating 'Daddy's princess' sort even though she is and every time I have taken her out wearing blue or green or cream or yellow everyone has assumed she's a boy Hmm

janey1234 · 05/09/2013 09:29

Morning! Morning, morning, morning!

I am full of the bloody joys of spring. Out of sheer desperation at Miles' sleep getting progressively worse, we tried Miles on (shhhh) a Gina Ford regime yesterday. And he slept from
8-7, with a feed for 30 mins at 10.30pm and 15 mins at 4am. I feel GREAT. We did give him formula when we woke him to feed at 10.30pm, and we're going to experiment to see if it works as well with expressed milk. But if it takes one bottle of formula before bed to get him to sleep, sod it, that's what he'll be having...

Could well be coincidence, but was def his best night since birth SmileSmileSmile

Alexandra6 · 05/09/2013 09:36

I was talking to some random woman about her bugaboo bee in sainsbury's the other day and made the mistake of saying "he looks comfy" about her little one only to realise "he" was wearing a necklace. Oops but to be fair it's bloody hard to tell! So personally am planning a bit of gender stereotyping until they blatantly look like what they are! I saw DH's friends baby in a navy blue top with bows the other day - loved that as stylish yet blatantly a girl!
