Oh and in terms of measurements they're notoriously inaccurate. My DSIL had weekly growth scans towards the end as my nephew was apparently so small, everyone wax really worried about him - both in the family and medical professionals. He was 9lb. And she's of chinese decent, size 6 with absolutely no hips, by far the skinniest person I've ever met. Needless to say he was born via emcs in the end!

janey1234 · 23/08/2013 21:47

Omg. E

janey1234 · 23/08/2013 21:48

Argh.

Was not wax.
Descent not decent.

There are prob more typos too, am trying to rock a baby to sleep and type at the same time. Sorry!

MotherOfCleo · 23/08/2013 22:13

haha janey totally got it fret not Wink

Hope little Miles sleeps like a dream for you tonight!!!

MotherOfCleo · 23/08/2013 22:22

oh and thanks for the size reassurance, I am kind of worried this boy will be a big lad. Confused

janey1234 · 24/08/2013 09:21

He's slept... HE SLEPT!! SmileSmileSmile

janey1234 · 24/08/2013 09:22

Oh god another idiotic typo. He, not he's...Blush

MotherOfCleo · 24/08/2013 09:26

He has slept would have worked too. Wink

Yay, go Miles!!!! Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

I didnt sleep Sad up every 2 to 3 hours and been wide awake since 7. Sad Have a wedding today, not sure how I'll make it through. Confused Plus OH was out drinking till 3am so I've told him he can stick to soft drinks and drive today.

Alexandra6 · 24/08/2013 09:35

Yay miles!

I didn't sleep well either, woke up around six, ridiculous - that will teach me to be smug about how well I've been sleeping. Someone yesterday told me she had pregnancy insomnia and I was all "oh I sleep really well, haven't had that at all"! Angry

Wedding sounds better than the bathroom shopping I have to do today! Don't think my DH would say no to wedding drinkies even with a hangover! He's suffering today though as he's been drinking every night for over a week (he isn't an alcoholic by the way, we've had friends staying with us and he's had work do's too!)

Cavort · 24/08/2013 12:21

Well done on the expressing Lol - the first step in getting some booze and lie ins sanity-saving baby-free time. And 2.5oz in very admirable for the first time. I only got a tiny bit first time and was horrified that I would be tied to doing all Elodie's feeds until she weaned but thankfully it got easier.

Janey I'm glad he slept for you after an exhausting day! It's a bit of a shock when they suddenly do something out of the ordinary! Mostly sleep-free days are the norm for us now. Elodie has a longer nap mid-morning and another longer nap mid-afternoon and apart from that she is usually awake 6am-9pm apart from several cat naps of literally a few minutes. She feeds very frequently while she's awake which is exhausting, but I think it's a fair cop in exchange for 9 hours at night where she feeds a maximum of twice and usually once. I am not quite smug enough to assume this is a routine as I know it's still early days, but she's been mostly like this for the last few weeks. Have you got a baby gym? I have to admit I wondered if ours was an expensive waste of money when we bought it, but she loves it and will happily spend 20 minutes on it several times a day so I get chances to go to the loo/make a cuppa/put some washing on etc.

Mother I don't know anyone whose baby actually weighed the predicted weight. I think it's just total guesswork so I wouldn't worry about yours being a whopper. And if yours does turn out bigger than average then take heart from my (normal-sized) friend who has had 2 9+lbs babies with short easy labours and very few pushes to get them out.

Aww, Elodie is just stirring form her longer mid-morning nap and the engines on the F1 on the TV have just made her startle in a really funny way. I wish I had a camera to hand evil Mum. Grin

BelissimaLol · 24/08/2013 16:46

Well we managed to feed her about 1oz last night but it was followed by an absolute cry of despair on her part!! The poor thing was looking for the boob like there was no tomorrow. Of course that made me cry with guilt. This morning I expressed another 2oz and she had it all. But I gave her some (I've read this can help them get used to it) and dh gave some. At least it's a start.
I've also given her gripe water today as she is 4 weeks and in my books that's as good as one month which is the minimum age on the box and she has been a lot better. Last night was a nightmare with wind bless her.
Glad miles has slept and that you have some sort of routine cav. When is she having jabs? I'm dreading it already.
Hope you're not stressing mother. I reckon your mw does not even know how to measure properly GrinGrin

Tallyra · 24/08/2013 17:02

4 weeks is definitely one month. congrats with the gripe water Smile

Alexandra6 · 25/08/2013 11:17

Yay slept in until 10am woop! Take that pregnancy insomnia Wink

Cavort · 25/08/2013 13:15

Lol I keep out of the way while DH gives her a bottle so she doesn't see me and get confused. On a few occasions she has taken the bottle from DH and then rooted on me afterwards even though she isn't hungry and has just suckled for comfort.

Yay Alex! I also slept until 10am and would have been later if engorged boobs hadn't woken me up (but I did do the night feed graveyard shift so it was DH's turn on the 6am early shift - hooray for expressing!)

HazleNutt · 25/08/2013 18:58

Went mushroom hunting (national sport here) and left Vic with my mum. Of course he decided this one time that he definitely does not like the bottle and screamed bloody murder.

Got the allergy tests back but unfortunately they didn't show anything, some mild pollen allergies, but those would not cause anaphylaxis, so have to investigate further. Until then keep panicking whenever I eat something, oh the fun.

Going home tomorrow, hoping he will behave again as he did on the way here, but you never know.

Cavort · 26/08/2013 09:21

That's strange about the bottle Hazle if he usually takes one happily. I hope he's good for you on your flight home.

I went out last night with the agreement with DH that I will be off duty until 9am. Turns out Elodie chose last night to go on sleeping strike and has slept for about 2 hours since I went out. She is not particularly grumpy or feeding any more than normal, just awake. DH looks like a zombie.

And AF has definitely arrived, which is totally shit considering I am EBFing. Sad Angry

Quodlibet · 26/08/2013 09:32

Cavort I am seriously impressed that you have got it so sorted that you can go out and leave E in the care of your DH already. That is the holy grail for me (sharing the childcare as much as possible) and I will be coming to you for tips.

We spent the weekend decorating our living room, and it finally looks lovely! It's been my least-favourite room since we moved in as it's just been a dumping ground and looked like a student hovel, but I am really pleased with how it's come together - AND we managed to do it without a big argument along the way which is also significant progress. One major thing ticked off the list.

Cavort · 26/08/2013 10:15

Thanks Quod, he's a good egg my DH, and I think he genuinely enjoys being left with her but would undoubtedly prefer it if she slept a bit! Plus he's building up brownie points towards next year's boys snowboarding holiday which he's trying to book at the moment.

I feel your pain on the decorating. I bought my house 5 years ago as a fixer upper and have only just finished it. It's great to get the living room done so you can enjoy relaxing in it after a hard day. Briefly enjoy it before it gets filled up with baby gym/swing/bouncy chair like mine is... I can barely see the carpet these days, it's like an obstacle course.

MotherOfCleo · 26/08/2013 10:26

I just weighed myself....BIG mistake!!! I've put on 2 freakin stone! Argh, I'm almost 30 weeks but 2 stone seems HEAPS Sad

Quodlibet · 26/08/2013 13:56

We have strategically left our slightly-grubby carpet in place to absorb the inevitable spills and stains of young children and also because we would rather spend the money going on holiday so no real disaster when we can't see it any more through the babytat!

Mother I can appreciate the shock of the digits on the scale going up but I think that sounds like a fairly normal amount, no? Doesn't it depend on your BMI before how much you are supposed to put on? I have the opposite worry as I haven't put on as much as I should have yet - if the baby was born early for any reason I would HATE for it to struggle more than necessary because it was underweight Sad so I am trying hard to pack on the poundage!

janey1234 · 26/08/2013 15:10

Mother - dont panic. I had put on two and a half stone by about 33 weeks... And then for the last few weeks didn't put on any more at all despite really upping the calorie intake for the last few weeks and eating enough for at least four Was odd, but a relief. I think your body sorts it all out somehow although I still have nearly a sodding stone to lose

Quod - good work on the DIY front. So nice getting your house sorted in anticipation of baby

Cavort - sounds like Elodie is doing what Miles did a few days ago. Poor you.

We went away to the seaside on a mini break, which was fab. So lovely to go out for a posh meal (miles behaved exceptionally), stay in a nice hotel, go for walks on the beach... However Miles woke up pretty much every hour on the hour last night. What is going on?!!

MotherOfCleo · 26/08/2013 21:11

Thanks guys, my bmi was 24.9 before and I dont think Ive ballooned massivly so I'm hoping it's mainly boobs and bump, although Ive not exactly been denying myself so could struggle afterwards.

Nice work with the diy quod

Oh and please sleep for your mummys babies! They need some shut eye.

BelissimaLol · 27/08/2013 08:22

I also put on almost 3 st by 32 weeks but then slowed down. I still put on 3.5 in total which is loads but in my defence I had no sickness - just a huge appetite - so that didn't help.
I've now lost almost 2 so need to continue to breast feed for a while lol Grin

Cavort · 27/08/2013 08:43

Mother I kept looking at this weight gain tracker while pregnant and as long as I was between the lines on the graph I was happy while feeling like a walrus. Smile

MotherOfCleo · 27/08/2013 09:44

Argh cavort I'm not between the lines Sad Sad Sad I truly must be a beast Sad

I worked it back though and I'm 5lb more than I should be, that doesn't sound too bad does it? although it is almost half a stone too much I am going to start swimming this week too so hopefully I can get between the lines.

I think I'm getting BHs now too, my whole bump went hard last night, it's done it a few times and I've not thought too much off it. I only notice when I'm up and walking the dog or walking up and down stairs as it feels really tight and weird.
