Guys, you are really helpful. thank you.

I've been feeling the same thing. I've had a 6wk scan each time due to being in hospital so sick, and each time there was a heartbeat, but by the 12wk one the first time and 9wks the 2nd and 3rd there was no longer. I am crossing my fingers that I will be in the normal range this time. I mean come on, it can't happen 4 times in a row!

I have a 6 week scan again this time (courtesy of lovely understanding epu nurse), on Thursday, but I'm not worried about that one. it's the 9/10wk one that's the test. I guess there's no point stressing until I either get sick or we get there.

Tallyra · 18/08/2013 21:27

but boom, don't be surprised if they turn you down. they turned me down for a 'reassurance scan' the 3rd time despite my history. Sorry, I'm not a great role model here.

MotherOfCleo · 18/08/2013 22:14

sorry been awol today, I havent had any bleeding with this pregnancy but I did used to get a bit of bleeding after we dtd. I know a lot of people who have had bleeding of some sort or another and all has been fine, so fx for you.

Quodlibet · 18/08/2013 23:45

I think it depends on the hospital/local authority protocol whether they let you have a reassurance scan. The EPU where I had my MMC dealt with told me explicitly to come back for an early scan when I got pregnant again, but then I moved house and my new hospital told me fairly unsympathetically that they didn't do them 'unless you've had 2 miscarriages'. My doc advised me to lie about bleeding to get an early scan but I decided to just book a private one which was about £70.

If you have a cervical ectropian (fleshy cells at entrance to cervix which bleed easily) or a subchorionic haematoma (where implantation causes small bleed in womb outside embryonic sac) -both of which I have had- then bleeding is quite likely in pg and not a bad sign.

janey1234 · 19/08/2013 05:03

Ok... This 1am-5am being awake thing is officially doing my head in.... Confused

Cavort · 19/08/2013 06:17

Thanks Janey Confused Is he fussing/uncomfortable/windy or just awake seemingly for no reason? Not that I have any miracle solutions to suggest for you. Have you looked at oversupply/forcerful let down on Kellymom? I suspect I have this but only when I haven't fed for 3+ hours. Makes sense for the way she gets sometimes so I am trying to feed leaning back to see if it makes any difference but it says it will take a few weeks.

I am having one myself this morning... she has just settled back off having been awake since 4.20, but she was very windy after her feed so we've just had to wait it out for it to pass. Babies, eh? Wink

Boomgoestheweasel · 19/08/2013 08:02

Hi Tally Grin how are you feeling so far? I think my EPU is the same as yours, can't self-refer and the only way I'll get an early scan is if the gynae clinic ok's it - waiting to hear back after the GP wrote to them saying I was up the duff. Slight possibility I'll get an early scan to check it isn't a multiple pg since was on clomid, they don't do reassurance scans though which is why I've booked private one.

Janey, cavort, don't envy you being up all night, and I feel like I'm hard done by having to get up at half five to walk the dogs! What have I let myself in for..!

Tallyra · 19/08/2013 09:07

I'm fine still boom. I swing wildly between getting ready to be really ill and then feeling like it's going to be fine this time and I won't be sick at all. Holiday in France is looming next week and so far I feel like I can manage it, but we'll see. I'm getting hungrier quicker, which is a bit of a sign I need tone eating constantly soon to keep the sickness at bay. How are you? And thunder and merk?

Quodlibet · 19/08/2013 09:22

Janey feel free to ignore this idea from a non-parent, but I am sure I read somewhere that breastmilk changes according to the time of day, and hence it is not a good idea to give an expressed bottle as last evening feed as it won't have the 'go to sleep for the night' information in it! I haven't expressed (lol) that very well but might that be a possible issue?

Alexandra6 · 19/08/2013 09:28

Hi boom and congrats Smile I remember the first 12 weeks, they were horrendous, literally couldn't think of anything else and was a nervous wreck! I had a private scan and it was well worth the money for the reassurance and boost to the stats. I had a bit of a rough time between 12-17 weeks but that was to do with cervix stuff and a stitch recommendation etc but now I feel so much more relaxed about things - you feel amazing when you get to 12 weeks compared to how you feel in the early days! I worried about symptoms too when I had symptom free days but it really doesn't mean anything (clearly) and so many people told me they had symptom free pregnancies and all was fine.

Sorry can't help on the dtd side merk as my --p

Alexandra6 · 19/08/2013 09:31

Sorry - my poor DH is on a sex ban as I was worried about disturbing my cervix! Keep thinking we'll make up for it when the baby is born but then remember we'll be too tired and occupied! Grin Although like cavort at least we can celebrate special occasions with a dtd unlike our anniversary tomorrow which will be a dtd free event!

MotherOfCleo · 19/08/2013 09:42

Hi boom, I also remember the first 12 weeks being super tough, seemed to go on forever and I was pretty much symptomless so didn't really feel pregnant. I'm 28 weeks now and unless bubs is wriggling I still don't feel any different...apart from fat.

We paid for an early scan at 9 weeks I think as I was so symptomless we were finding it hard to believe I was pregnant, made us both feel so much better to see the heartbeat! Everything seems to have gone very quickly since 12 weeks as I started to feel him move at 14 weeks thanks to a whole big bag of skittles to myself...oops

FX for all the new grads!! I know it must seem odd over here with all the chat of prams, nursery's, breast feeding, sleepless nights etc, it was similar when I joined, although without the breast feeding/sleepless nights. But I found it really helpful to be able to get advice from people who had been their, plus there should be a grad influx soon as so many of you had bfp's at the same time, so you can introduce some more early days chats. Grin

MotherOfCleo · 19/08/2013 09:48

Oh and janey I think Miles may be nocturnal?? 1am - 5am each day....ouch! I'm afraid I'm as useful as a chocolate teapot and have no idea what to suggest, is he awake and grouchy/hungry/fidgety or just awake? I guess he has gotten himself into a bit of a messed up routine?

If he is awake because he is hungry could you cluster feed in the evenings to keep him full? My friend had it really hard with her son as he would always wake up hungry in the middle of the night no matter what, she resorted to hungry baby formula in the evenings to push him through the night, then graduated to expressed milk with baby rice in it when he was a bit older, much earlier than suggested but she was at the end of her teather and willing to try anything by then.

Cavort · 19/08/2013 11:05

Quod now you mention it, I also remember reading that somewhere so I just had a quick Google and found this. Who would have thought something as simple as sticking your boob in your baby's mouth when she is hungry would be so scientific?! Shock

Boom it's not that bad being up in the night. In my case it's usually only for 2 hours max and I have a nice afternoon snooze to make up for it. Last night I got midnight-04.20 and then 06.15-09.45 so it's not too bad.

And you (and the other newly-diffed ladies) have my sympathies for being in the worry-fest of early pregnancy. We used to joke that when you get your BFP your angst simply progresses from the 2ww to the 8ww until you reach that magic 12 week point.

janey1234 · 19/08/2013 13:47

Oh thanks quod. I did wonder about that so asked the health visitor who said it would be fine but she was useless Anyway because I was going out on Sat miles hasn't been having his evening bottle for a few days as I'd been saving all the expressed milk for then. So annoyingly his nocturnal awakenings have coincided with him only having evening-made milk straight from boob ConfusedAnd last night no expressed milk either as I hadn't got round to expressing any. Argh. He's unsettled and unhappy with wind I think as he generally goes on a big farting spree at around 5am then goes back to sleep....

Boomgoestheweasel · 19/08/2013 15:08

A farting spree at 5am...hmm...sounds like my husband Hmm

Appreciating all the early pg sympathy guys. Definitely feels worse than the 2ww at the moment! On the bright side the cb digi came up 3+ today so hormone levels must be going up if nothing else and I can stop wasting my money on expensive weesticks. Hooray for 5 weeks, only another 7 to go...

Quodlibet · 19/08/2013 15:38

Oh good stuff Boom.

Over here the good news is I checked with my midwife about what the Group B Strep will mean, and they still will let me use the Home from Home unit (birth centre) and the pool, and I don't have to be hooked up to a drip the whole time, so whilst I know that you never know which way labour is going to go, at least it means I can still plan for an active/waterbirth and don't have to go straight into hospital setting. At my hosp the Home from Home and the normal unit are right next to each other, so it means a quick transition is really easy if things start going a bit wonky.

janey1234 · 19/08/2013 15:50

Good news all round here!

Boom - that is indeed good news re the cb test and levels going up. And I really truly hope that the next seven weeks don't drag as much as they did for me too much. We're here though to sympathise if they do though!

Quod - fab news. At least you can start your labour in the way you'd choose...Smile

Quodlibet · 19/08/2013 17:23

At least I can spend the next 4 months naively imagining the labour I'd choose! Wink

Cavort · 19/08/2013 18:23

Janey have you tried Infacol, Colief and Gripe Water? I was initially reluctant to give Elodie anything unatural but a few sleepless nights soon changed that! Most parents I know really rate Colief and I found it does work, but Gripe Water is easier to administer and does the job just as well for us.

That's good news Boom Grin The smallest things go a long way when you are looking for reassurance. Smile

And more good news for Quod Grin Grin The prospect of labour is so much easier when you know there's at least a possibility of it going the way you want it to. I desperately wanted an active labour with some of it in the water but ended up on my back, hooked up to monitors and a drip (albeit only saline) and I could not have cared less at the time... I just wanted that baby out of me, but if someone had told me in advance it would go that way I would have been gutted. FX yours does go the way you want it to. Smile

MotherOfCleo · 19/08/2013 21:30

bath way too hot, awesome at the time but now I'm majorly overheated.....ooops. Blush

BelissimaLol · 20/08/2013 13:26

Aw boom excellent news on test! We do need anything for reassurance at this point don't we?
And also great news on the possible birth quod. I second what cav says- when the time comes you really won't care!!
I'm counting the days until baby is 1 month old for me to use gripe water. Lara is crying her little eyes out trying to fart which would be funny if it wasn't so loud!!
Hope u all managed some sleep last night. I had a rough one and ended up in tears and pissed off with dh who would not pick her up on the basis of him needing to be at work when he spent eve in pub and left me to look after her AngryAngry

MotherOfCleo · 20/08/2013 15:21

Awesome news boom!!! I remember doing tests just to make sure the line was still as dark as the control line and not fading at all. I found it hard to get in the mindset of not ttc and to accept the terrifying thought of growing a person....still scares the crap out of me. Having me friends 5 month old at the weekend made me feel a bit more comfortablr tho, also saw a lot of my other friends 2 year old who is just changing from nappies to knickers.....I forget how many times we had to go to the toilet, mum couldnt take her she wanted me bless her.

Lol, bloody men huh!!! Mine spent last night telling me how tired he was, seriously he has no idea. Then when he comes to bed he insists on reading on his kindle so keeps me awake....grrr.

Cavort · 20/08/2013 21:40

Enjoying the BBC's version of OBEM on BBC2 with a glass of wine. Almost makes me want to do it again just for that amazing post-birth high and the moment when you meet your baby for the first time. Grin Grin

janey1234 · 20/08/2013 22:02

Me too cavort! Only seen two mins but it was the bit when they're trying to get the twins to breathe... Brought back wonderful memories of when I first held him, but then awful memories of when he was taken away after. DP and I got a bit emotional and had to give Miles a hug! Seems like an eternity ago now. Weird....
