just rang them and I've apparently got to pop to the gp tomorrow morning to get my blood pressure checked. that is if they have a free appointment which will be a miracle.

MildredH · 25/08/2013 22:12

Crying- it's bank hol tomo. Will your GP be open?

CryingGivesMeAHeadache · 26/08/2013 08:58

you are correct it is indeed bank holiday. I'm on my way to the ward as the pains no better. hope everything is okay Sad

PistachioTruffle · 26/08/2013 09:04

Thinking of you Crying, and hoping it turns out to be nothing Flowers

QueenofWhispers · 26/08/2013 09:25

crying

even if it is pre-eclampsia please don't worry! I had it in my last pregnancy and even with the scariness of it all, I still managed to have a lovely lovely healthy son, I had a fantastic birth experience and everything was perfect afterwards. My pregnancy sucked, but the rest of it has been blissful.
QueenofWhispers · 26/08/2013 09:26

And the few that I know who also have had it (and I really hope you don't!) had good experiences too. I didn't have my son until 37 weeks...so he was born almost full term.

CryingGivesMeAHeadache · 26/08/2013 09:51

waiting to see a midwife now. I had to come on my own and am petrified Sad I want to go home and hide under my duvet.

MildredH · 26/08/2013 10:11

We're thinking of you crying.. Hope they sort you out quickly and pack you off home to enjoy the bank hol reassured Smile

I've fallen out with DH Hmm. Partly me being a bit unreasonable, partly built up frustration at him just not ever being a tiny bit proactive. I sometimes feel like the only adult in the house and always having to nag at what needs doing. It's OUR bloody house. We should both think about what's needed to get done.. Grrr.

Soopermum1 · 26/08/2013 11:26

hi all. just got back from home in Spain. had lovely time, saw so many cute baby clothes, for some reason Spanish baby clothes are always gorgeous. managed to resist and only bought one babygro. trying not to buy too much at the moment.

have ballooned since I've been away and am in maternity clothes properly for the first time now. previously wore my baggiest clothes and managed to dig out some bigger clothes from my fat days. think a large part of it is due to stuffing my face Hmm Hmm

Stom91 · 26/08/2013 11:33

Hi all.. I've told my employer I want to go on mat leave on November 1st.. But can I change it to earlier of I've already told them? I'm stuggling to much I don't think I can wait that long..

mumoftwoboysS · 26/08/2013 12:05

Good luck crying hope it turns out to be nothing serious.

stom pretty sure you can change it up to a month before? If not you could always start maternity leave earlier due to 'illness' if your doc wrote that you're too exhausted etc but this would mean going back to work earlier after baby is born (unless you tag holiday on the end of it)

MildredH · 26/08/2013 12:18

Stom- when I had the meeting to give in my matb1 and tell work when I wanted to go on leave they sent me a letter afterwards which set out rules for changing date etc.. Think as Mum says its up to 1 month.. It's NHS though so I guess one good point is its very procedure led! Pretty sure they're universal rules tho..

Crying- how are you getting on? Have they checked your BP and urine etc? Hope you're ok.

DH now making a massive effort so I'm feeling pretty guilty. He's even tidied out the crap dumping drawer in the kitchen.

MrsShrubs · 26/08/2013 12:22

Hope you're okay crying

QueenofWhispers · 26/08/2013 13:03

came on to check on crying hopefully it's nothing untoward. x

CryingGivesMeAHeadache · 26/08/2013 13:04

I had my BP checked and it is a little elevated so they're keeping me in for a bit to monitor apparently. They didn't find anything in my urine, so hopefully everything is okay. Thanks for the messages guys.

Stom91 · 26/08/2013 14:04

Glad your ok crying...

Yeah i haven't given in my matb1 format yet I should get the on the 5th when I see mw.

When I told work I was preg they gave me a form to fill out and it said when do I want to go on mat leave i said 1st Nov. But was now hoping to change that by a couple weeks.
They won't let me take anymore holiday and im not planning on going back there.

LadyMedea · 26/08/2013 14:55

You only have to give four weeks notice (28 days) if you want to change mat leave dates. So the earliest you can leave is four weeks from when you tell them of the change, but you can't start before 29 weeks (although that week starts on a Sunday even if you aren't due until the Thursday like me - mat1b runs from the Sunday).

My last day is 29th September, four weeks leave after that so mat leave at 34 weeks officially. Hate, hate working there so can't leave soon enough - four weeks to go! Yippee!

LadyMedea · 26/08/2013 14:55

Sorry that's 20th September!

Stom91 · 26/08/2013 15:08

Hey lady thanks i think i get that lol.. I want to leave mid October rather than beginning of Nov.. So then that would be around 6 weeks to go.. I should get my. Matb1 form on the 5th. So shall I just tell. My boss when I get that. That I want to leave in October? Yeah i hate hate working where I am and will be so happy to leave xx

clare8allthepies · 26/08/2013 15:11

Stom I'm pretty sure the mat B1 form is the official notification of when you intend to start maternity leave.
You can ask to change the start date but you have to give 28 days notice, not sure if that's just the rules for my place though.
I've asked to start mine on November 4th but have the 2 weeks before booked off as leave so my last day is going to be October 18th. If this little one turns up on time I'll get nearly 6 weeks off first!

Stom91 · 26/08/2013 15:22

Nice.. Yeah i think the form I filled out was to give them a rough idea... They asked me as soon as I told them and I was abit like err.. I don't know I'm still getting over the shock of being pregnant! ! Lol

I've go no annual leave left... Well if i wasnt going on mat leave I'd have 5 days but they won't let me take that due to me leaving in Nov. Its all too confusing for my Lil brain lol.

I'm literally counting the weeks until I leave. Boss is being a complete arse lol

weechops · 26/08/2013 15:22

Glad you're ok crying

I had my consultant appointment today. It went ok I think. I've to get the diabetes test in 3 weeks time because ds was so much bigger than dd (10lb4 to her 6lb15) and she wants to rule that out. Then I've to have a growth scan at 32 weeks. If the baby doesn't look too big then I can try for a vbac but if he's huge like ds then they won't risk it and book me a section. I'm fine with that. Just glad I can try for vbac but happy they will monitor me closely too :)

musiceverywhere · 26/08/2013 15:32

That's the downside of the great maternity benefits in NHS. If I decide not to return to work in an NHS job, I'm liable to repay all my mat. pay (as far as I understand it). Might be an idea to check there's nothing similar in your contract for anyone planning to leave.

Stom91 · 26/08/2013 15:57

Hey yeah I've given a maternity pack from work had all the ins and outs etc. As I was worried about having to pay it back.. Turns out it says if i decide to leave at the end or before my mat leave ends I don't have to repay it.. Woo hoo :)

music is there a way where u can go back for 2 months or Something then leave and won't have to pay it? May be worth looking into x

musiceverywhere · 26/08/2013 16:06

That's good! Yeah, I think it's 3 months then you can leave without repaying. But unless our finances change dramatically in the next 12 months, leaving won't be an option! Not trained to do anything else that would have similar pay/benefits/pension and never saw myself as a SAHM. But who knows what I'll feel once baby arrives?!
