Lol queen. My DP is quite hairy. And very aware of it. Usually when I clip his hair he whips his shirt off and I do the back of his neck and some bits on his shoulders he is paranoid about.

He once decided to 'try' my veet cream though. PMSL. On his tummy and leading down to his groin. Luckily for him he hadn't gotten around to his sack yet. He came wandering downstairs with a towel around him nearly crying because the Veet had burnt his hair off and his skin was all smooth in places and looked off. Ended up having to completly clip the bugger everywhere (apart from his sack and crack) to blend it in as we were going on holiday in 2 days time.

Have a very itchy fanjo today. Smoothered as much as I can in sudacreme without giving myself thrush. Its a good point about tidying up before giving birth, think I'll do my last trim mid novemeber to be safe!

Good morning all! Ugh, Monday?s are awful aren?t they?! Thank you for all the kind wishes, I?m struggling to work out how many, but I?ve definitely been feeling little kicks all weekend, which is really reassuring right now. They loved going to the beach this weekend and floating around in the sea!

I got up and ready for work this morning, looked in the mirror and suddenly realised what a fool I was for not suspecting twins ? I am HUGE! Noone I know is currently expecting, so I wasn?t really comparing myself to anyone else and I didn?t seem to get that big early on, but I?m totally massive now. People keep looking at me like I?m about to pop and there?s such a long way to go yet!

Welcome Latebear and congratulations on your little girl Roselau, Zoey is a really pretty name! We?ve been thinking about Jessica Rose and Lily Eleanor for our little ones but I just plugged them into google and they seem a little too popular right now, so I?m not sure anymore!

I?m thinking of learning to knit, do knitters think there?s enough time between now and December to learn and actually knit a few simple things?

froubylou - Seb is a lovely name and I actually like it in full as Sebastian too. Congratulations!

Sorry to hear you?ve been sick Chilli81, are you back on the mend now?

TakingTheStairs · 12/08/2013 13:19

afternoon all.

broken filling = pain + trip to the dentist this afternoon.
sigh

abcdemma · 12/08/2013 15:38

Hi all, just checking in after a week of having no internet in new flat (and being busy with new job..... yey Smile). Will read previous posts later on so apologies to any raging topics/occurrences I've missed but hope everyone is well.
I seem to have doubled in size these past couple of weeks, looking really pregnant now lol so this extra money coming in will be going to new maternity jeans but mostly kitting out baby's room and the flat. Going to one of them second hand baby markets on Saturday (ridiculously excited) so hoping to pick up some absolute bargains :)
Feel like I've got a million and one things to sort out but we'll get there.....

MrsShrubs · 12/08/2013 17:26

Congrats on the job & new flat abc that's great news!

This may be a really silly question but are first time mums (or even second or thirds) signing up for NCT classes?

Chilli81 · 12/08/2013 19:02

thanks hetsto and others. am feeling a lot better today and my hunger is back in full force which is a relief. my sciatica and now pubic bone pain of giving me grief now. sod's law. however the nhs has come up trumps as after phoning midwife for a physio appointment this after noon, have been offered one for tomorrow afternoon!
abcdemma well done on the job.
the hair removal posts have been making me chuckle but reminding me that I need to de forest at some point. not looking forward to the wax. it's so much more painful when pregnant but the only thing that works for me.

mumoftwoboysS · 12/08/2013 20:05

Mrs Shrubs I won't be doing NCT this time but that's only because I did it first time round and I have made friends for life via that group- I REALLY reccommend it if you're having your first- you all go through the same thing together, then you can meet up when you've had your babies and support eachother etc. There were 8 of us and not all of us kept in touch but now I have 4 really good friends I see regularly.(and their kids are good friends with mine) I guess for me it was a no brainer to join as I didn't know many people in the area.

God, I feel so bloated right now- anyone else had a REALLY uncomfortably tight bump- mine feels like a hard football.. don't know if it's due to being a bit bunged up?? Just been but it was tough going iykwim (sorry tmi!) Usually I don't have that problem, but I think I've been a bit slack not eating enough fruit the last few days!

NomDeClavier · 12/08/2013 21:20

MrsShrubs I've only ever heard good things about NCT classes. I'd kill for something similar here.

mum my bump is very hard too sometimes, depends how baby is lying for me!

Sorry you've been ill chilli Hope the physio referral goes well.

Hurray for flat, job and shopping plans abc - sounds like it's coming together for you :)

I reckon you can learn to knit hetsto. The best way to learn is to just try it and see. You could probably do them a blanket each because there's no shaping then!

MsCatShoes · 12/08/2013 21:30

Hi all,

clavier glad to hear your happy news

We have signed up with NCT classes as we're a little isolated - joining pregnancy yoga classes has also been nice.

Just having horrible constipation atm (tmi I know!) which keep making bump ache :(

mumoftwoboysS · 12/08/2013 21:43

Nom great news on the scan! And another pink one! I feel really thick now as I really couldn't work out anything on the scan i.e. boy or girl! I did see something but I'm sure it was belly button height so should be the umbilical cord, right? Oh well, I'll just have to keep waiting- only 4 months to go till I find out!!

MildredH · 12/08/2013 22:03

Ah taking- I feel your dental pain. You poor thing. I usually go fairly regularly and broke a tooth (!) on a toffee months ago in early preg but have avoided them since!! I was worried they might try & fix it without any anaesthetic Confused- can I be nosy and ask what they did for you?

We are doing nct- mostly to meet people tbh. Also booked Hosp antenatal classes so basically all of October will be spent in classes of one sort or another!!

Congrats on the girl Nom! I've loved buying pretty girls bits.

Chilli81 · 12/08/2013 22:18

congratulations nom
I would definitely recommend NCT. I think quite a lot of it is luck as to whether you get on with the people on the course but generally even if they're not people you would normally be friends with, it's incredible how much you can bond over stories of sleepless nights in those first few weeks once babies are here.
I'm still in contact with my group over 2 years later and one of the girls is a really close friend now.

TakingTheStairs · 12/08/2013 22:34

Congrats on the flat and new job abcdemma Grin and Nom, congrats on your girl too!

mildred it turned out to be a broken tooth and filling :( I had normal local anaethestic. It's safest in the second trimester which luckily I am. If it ha happened it the first or third I think I'd have been a lot more stressed but dr google and the dentist reassured me that it was fine

Roselau · 13/08/2013 07:25

nom that's great news! welcome to team pink. you are in france right? is the process over there much different?

you are definitely more clever than us if you could make it up on the ultrasound. the dr had to point out everything, we felt so bad. also we both got out of there ashamed to admit to each other that at some point we totally thought she looked like a roast chicken....... at least we both thought it, but that's how good we are at reading ultrasounds...

anyways, NCT classes seem like such a great idea. I'm really bummed I wont be able to do them given our impending move to Los Angeles. Hopefully they have something similar over there.

Went to first pg yoga class yesterday (been going to my regular ones until now). It was really fun. met a bunch of other moms to be.

And I will also be waxing... I just can't bear having a forest down there. And I can still see everything. It's painful but it gotta be done. Thankfully I have a really good wax girl.

itsliz · 13/08/2013 09:11

Congrats on the great news, Nom Smile Lovely to see that the numbers are starting to even out a bit - surely the number of girls and boys must be fairly equal by now?!
Maybe we should add team blue or team pink to the stats thread!

And well done for getting the new job and new flat abcdemma! Very jealous as I'm currently counting down the months until we can start looking for a new flat and looking for jobs as my contract runs out at the end of the month Sad
If you don't mind me asking, how did you approach job hunting whilst pregnant? I'm really scared that potential employers might hold it against me, so don't know whether to mention it in my applications or just leave it and see if I get an interview first...

Very interested in the NCT classes that everyone's taking about - for those of you who have been before, what exactly do they involve?
DP and I are keen to sign up to as many things as possible since we only moved to the area about 1 year ago so still don't know many people... That and the fact that this will be our first DC and we're pretty clueless, so we need all the info we can get!

hetsto · 13/08/2013 09:41

Aww, sorry to hear about your dental pain TakingTheStairs, going to the dentist is rubbish at the best of times! Congratulations on all your exciting news abcdemma, that all sounds awesome, and a great excuse to enjoy the baby market too!

MrsShrubs, I?m a first-timer and we signed up for a local NCT course at the weekend; we?re so clueless that I?m pretty sure anything can help and it will be nice to meet some local people in the same boat.

Thanks NomDeClavier, I?m going to visit my grandmother at the weekend so I?m hoping she can help to get me to going with the knitting. A couple of little blankets would be lovely, and if the knitting doesn?t go to plan I can always resort to quilting! Also huge congratulations on your little girl ? how exciting!

itsliz, you shouldn?t have to declare your pregnancy on any application forms, and employers really shouldn?t allow it to count against you at interview either, but I imagine some industries are better than others for this. Best of luck with it!

Good idea on the blue and pinks stats too!

MrsShrubs · 13/08/2013 12:05

Nom congratulations!!!!

Thanks for the NCT advice, I had a look at our local ones and they start at 7.30-10pm and I only get home from work at 7.15 so not sure we'd be able to make it after having something to eat and actually getting there. Not sure if work would let me go early as I'm the one who closes up the office... might have to have a word and see what they can do.

musiceverywhere · 13/08/2013 12:34

Hi all,
Laughing a lot at everyones hair dilemmas. I haven't attempted it yet, but would prefer to have a 'tidy up' before baby arrives!
Congrats Nom and all others who have had scans/found out gender. And hello to Hetsto- how exciting! Can't believe you only found out you were having twins at 20 wks. Its amazing what they can do in utero now, must have been very scary, but glad all went well.
On NCT front. We've reserved a place on our local course, but I haven't confirmed it yet. We're not sure we can afford it at the moment and I would need to be sure it would be a lot more beneficial than the free NHS ones. Is the cost making anyone else think twice? (£191 per couple for 3 evenings and one weekend day plus NCT membership)
Looked at prams again and think we've decided on the Uppababy Vista. They will price match though so need to get researching!

MrsShrubs · 13/08/2013 12:54

music have to say that is another reason why I'm feeling a bit hesitant, we'll be spending out so much over the next few months having our old office re done into a nursery, furniture prams etc and I'm not entirely sure we can afford the extra money on top!

mumoftwoboysS · 13/08/2013 13:14

Regarding the NCT course - from my experience I'd say that yes it is useful but you can find out everything you need to know from a pregnancy/birth book! But I think it's the support, reassurance and friends you make that is what makes it most valuable.

anyone else still feeling whacked some days? I don't find it every day, but today, for instance I feel like its defintitely one of those days. So tired and can't be bothered to do anything. Although I don't work, the house is a mess and I still have a toddler to look after (and two when DS1 isn't at pre-school)

all I want to do is curl up on the sofa all afternoon (amongst the mess!) feel bad as poor DH is working hard and I should be keeping the house nice and clean and tidy- bit of an old fashioned role I know, but one I have for now until I go back to work after DC3 is born...

MsCatShoes · 13/08/2013 13:59

mumoftwoboysS somedays I have enough energy to power through hundreds of little jobs around the house (whilst I'm on the summer holidays!) - other times I actually just want to crawl into bed/mess pile that is sofa and sleep for the next five months ... and I don't have a couple of older DC's to look after, which make me admire you being awake at all!

Been laundretting all morning as no plumbing for washing machine until September, something I hope happens before DS makes his appearance!

I have a question though, how soon is it to buy nursery furniture? Should I wait longer or start getting now? I have an offer of a second hand nursery suite but don't know if it's too soon? Confused

Roselau · 13/08/2013 14:22

well i had enough energy today to wear high heels at the office. but i think i need to stop kidding myself that i should still fit in regular trousers. I am so uncomfortable after lunch. I put a kitchen elastic at the button, and even that is too tight.
i know there is decent relatively maternity wear but makes me sick to spend money on something i'm only going to wear for 4 months. i'd much rather go to cowshed :)

Roselau · 13/08/2013 14:23

decent relatively cheap maternity wear is what i meant.

pregnancy makes me skip words.

yogafan · 13/08/2013 14:51

Mumoftwoboys - I have been exhausted recently, not quite in the same as in weeks 8-9, but pretty whacked. I have also been eating LOADS - DP has made several emergency chocolate bar expeditions on my behalf, and today I had a ridiculously large lunch followed by half a tub of Ben and Jerry's. I too have a toddler to look after, and a house that I am neglecting...

NomDeClavier · 13/08/2013 14:57

With DS I just wore nice dresses in a 12 (I was an 8/10 before) that were wrap dresses or empire line or other styles that you could get away with a bump beneath until I went on ML. All picked up in the sale, all reusable this pregnancy and through the annoying post-partum period.I had a pair of mat jeans, 5 tops - all of which were also nursing tops) and a mat skirt.
