For those feeling dizzy when they lie down pseudo is right. It's the growing uterus pressing on your inferior vena cava which is the major vein that carries blood from your legs and pelvis back to your heart. You should lie on your left side to avoid this. You can lie on right too. If on back you have to be pretty propped up but can still feel rubbish. Also stay well hydrated esp in the heat.....

chickieno1 · 13/07/2013 13:46

And last one :)

Bit of a random tip, used tea tree oil shower gel from about 37 weeks on til well after ds was born. Meant to be good to reduce infection from any possible stitches etc. I used a paraben and sulphite free one. Can't remember name but got it in whole foods on sale at end of summer. Was a big bottle and lasted ages.

Also used almond oil on my bump and legs as skin was soooo itchy and flaky after gave birth.

Hope everyone having a nice day despite poor sleep due to loo runs (ditto here)

Chick - dr letter says to take iron with a meal?

Put all my pills in a bag next to tv. Spend enough time looking in that direction, should remember! Lol

cuillereasoupe · 13/07/2013 14:04

I like the idea of frolic acid GT. Where can I get me some? Grin

chickieno1 · 13/07/2013 14:30

I liked the frolic acid too :)

Gt I take it before breakfast but def at least 15 mins before go downstairs. I took it with meals with ds and was terribly constipated. Also some things compete or inhibit iron absorption like tea and dairy so if you're having those at meal won't help.......

Sometimes you have to try what's best for you. Also depends if it makes you feel sick? My main issue was the constipation at later stages not sickness.

Now I better go take my iron before brekkie :)

GTbaby · 13/07/2013 15:22

My husband would love me to take some frolic acid.

Umlauf · 13/07/2013 18:57

Oh flip. Just spent an hour changing in and out of outfits to go out for dinner with DHs mates in England. He says to wear what I'm comfy in. I'm now in his t shirt and jogging bottoms. But it'll be fine with heels right?!

Shootingstarsandcomets · 13/07/2013 19:46

Frolic acid me up!
I'm so hot. That's all really just hot and feeling like a big moo cow. Ugh. I love the sun but really if it could just be a few degrees cooler that would be so nice.

ananikifo · 13/07/2013 20:13

Chicken thanks for the tip about tea tree shower gel. Did you find it drying to your skin?

I have had an absolutely lovely day, with some Buffy and a nice bath in the morning, and Trafford Centre in the afternoon, and minimal chores. DH is in a wonderful mood after his rafting trip.

Normally I'm an Internet shopper but it's so nice to see things in person. Turns out Mamas and Papas makes a HUGE baby bath which I hope will be a solution for us because the house we'll probably get has a shower cubicle, not bath tub. Hopefully baby can use it for a long time. They also make a cheaper footmuff that will match our pushchair well enough, so we don't have to get the £££ one designed for our model. Score!Grin

ananikifo · 13/07/2013 20:21

Also do I need a room thermometer? Gro eggs are on sale at tesco.

PseudoBadger · 13/07/2013 20:30

Not if your baby monitor has a thermometer on it. I hardly used my Gro Egg.

ananikifo · 13/07/2013 20:34

So you need something with a thermometer then?

And I assume I need a baby monitor, even if I plan to have baby in my room for 6 months, right?

Natalieand · 13/07/2013 20:45

I've spent the day in my sisters back garden cooking myself now rediculously red and regretting it lol I did have sun cream on but only factor 20

I never had a thermometer for dd's room and she lived to tell the tale x

roofio87 · 13/07/2013 20:53

I'm getting a room thermometer just because our house can be quite cold in the winter and I want to be sure its not too cold at night!!

dp's mates are all round for a bbq tonight, its been nice but I'm shattered and cba anymore. there's also a lot of smoking going on which I hate beige round at the best of times but now I really can't stand it. we're outside and everyone is doing it away from me but I'm still getting it. making me feel dead grouchy now!!

Shootingstarsandcomets · 13/07/2013 21:31

We have a gro egg but I got it because DH always wants to turn the thermostat to tropical setting- I now have the excuse of saying oh we have to turn the heat down the babys room is too warm!! I'm hot blooded he's cold blooded obviously!
I'm doing some more ridiculous shopping for when I normal size again- anyone know if all saints comes up big or small? I don't know what size to buy.

PseudoBadger · 13/07/2013 22:30

Well thinking about it ana whilst DS was in our room I used the cardboard thermometer bits that come with Gro Bags.

ananikifo · 13/07/2013 22:35

Thanks. I actually didn't know that baby monitors have thermometers in them. (Haven't looked at any yet.) I also didn't know gro bags come with cardboard thermometers. I guess we don't need the gro egg then.

OrangeBlossom2 · 13/07/2013 22:38

Thanks MoN. My boobs are leaking several times a day now. Time to wear pads probably. Will definitely get some lanisoh ones as so many people reccomended them, and maybe try some of the washable cotton ones too. The ones I bought are hot, sweaty and smell like hospitals/sanitary pads.

A very hot sticky day today visiting friends in Southampton then lunch and a little walk in the new forest. The traffic was awful on the way down so I sweated away for 2 and a half hours in the car and have an achey coccyx now. Tying to catch up with friends before I get too huge/busy with a newborn. Next weekend is free though to have some time just the two of us. Not many weekends left for that.

Other friends coming round for a Peruvian themed lunch tomorrow which will remind us of our honeymoon Smile

Gro eggs now sold out on tesco direct. Thanks for the tip, though.

PseudoBadger · 13/07/2013 22:41

The cardboard ones are more of a 'ball park' idea of the temperature, ideal if you're not too stressy about things like that. If you prefer accuracy you might want something else!
However bear in mind it's unlikely to be boiling before our babies are 6 months old so if you went for the monitor option that could wait until baby goes in their own room.

ananikifo · 13/07/2013 22:46

I have the magic touch. Everything I look at online sells out before I decide if I want it or not.

ananikifo · 13/07/2013 22:57

I don't know if we'll be able to delay getting a baby monitor. A friend visited this week (same one who got me panicked about getting a place in nursery) and told DH about baby monitors with sensor pads. He's quite excited about getting one.

PseudoBadger · 13/07/2013 23:07

Well we got one of those at about 2 weeks as DS would only sleep on his front..... They are fab.

MrsO27 · 14/07/2013 00:00

Hi all, can't remember who mentioned leg cramps but I got struck down with one yesterday when having a nap, and when I say struck down it was honestly like I'd been shot in the leg!! Please someone tell me child birth pain is not as bad?

GTbaby · 14/07/2013 00:15

I have a monitor thermometer and fro bag cardboard one. Tbh I pay no attention to it. If I feel chilly I give lo a blanket. When it was snowing I put him in a thicker sleep suit.
I can tell if its cold or not. Don't need 100% accuracy. IMO that is.
I go by the "one extra layer rule". And apply to bedding as well.
Also I check how his back feels. As everyone is different. Clammy or hot I take a layer off.

Wickedgirl · 14/07/2013 06:50

I don't bother with baby monitor. When the babies are tiny, they are always close to mums anyway and by the time they are old enough to sleep in their own room, they are very loud and will wake you up just with their shouts
