Standing facing a wall with one leg bent and the other leg straight a bit behind you with heel flat on ground and then push down to stretch calf muscles. Switch sides then. Used to do this before going to bed. Haven't got cramps as yet but might start exercises

rubytwosday · 12/07/2013 23:18

Wow, still had a page from last thread to catch up on and 6 pages on new thread! Welcome Dolly and monkey. umlauf I am paranoid that the royal baby will steal our name. We want to call her Alice and don't have a second choice that I like nearly as much but don't want to constantly explain that we chose it before royal baby was born.... jelly I am also carrying low. Have seen friends and on tv bumps that people can use as tables - high and flat at the top but mine is like a ski slope! Could use some advice but is a bit tmi..... I am struggling with sore and swollen lady bits. Is this normal? I get quite a lot if rubbing from walking about and it is not pleasant!

Smitten1981 · 12/07/2013 23:45

Best tip for calf cramp is to flex the foot upwards and it stops it before it cramps up. Works a treat for me!

Smitten1981 · 12/07/2013 23:46

By upwards I mean in a towards the front of your knees direction so your rear calf muscle is stretched.

Soupqueen · 13/07/2013 02:42

Welcome dolly and monkey!

DH and I were talking about the Royal baby and he made the very good point that we're the lucky ones as, although they may "steal" one of our names, at least we know. Much worse to be expecting now, have the baby maybe a day before, announce the name and then it's the same!

I'm ridiculously tired but was up an hour ago to go to the toilet (so much for me saying I wasn't being woken for toilet trips!), managed almost an hour and then woke up with a raging thirst so I'm up again and will no doubt experience the consequences of all this water in another hour or so.

I was in Bravissimo today, got yet another big ugly bra, and picked up their leaflet on bras in pregnancy and breastfeeding. I'm probably ridiculously naive but it hadn't occurred to me that nursing bras are all non wired. I'm a bit worried about my hopes to breast feed now. I can just about resign myself to months of less than flattering bras, but I'm very short in the body and they all look like they come up really high, I will have literally nothing to wear! Does anywhere do nursing bras with a plunge front in large sizes? It seems like such a vain thing to be worried about, and maybe I won't be as worried in the morning.....

There was almost a fight when I was in Bravissimo! Next cubicle to me was a mother and daughter. The mother was being very vocal about how rubbish the fitter was and how badly the bras fitted - daughter (the one being fitted) was more than happy but Mum was having none of it. I tho k the hot weather is affecting everyone's tempers.

Natalieand · 13/07/2013 07:22

Seriously I went to bed at 10pm and woke up for a wee at 1-3-3.30-4.30-5.30-6.30-7.10 I feel like I haven't even been to bed how can in actually wee that much when all I had was a drink of juice with my dinner at 8pm

Argh I'm so tired!!!!

HotSoupDumpling · 13/07/2013 07:33

Welcome monkey and dolly! Join in as much or as little as you like, you do not need to be a regular or old poster just to chip in with rants/advice etc!

Falcon, I thought that one was lovely too, as I love coral.

Soup, you're right - if we gave birth slightly before Kate then we might inadvertently choose the same name and people would comment that we copied her!

What colour is her bugaboo?

roxvox · 13/07/2013 08:23

That's a very good point soup. That would be pretty gutting!

hotSoup my Gran has informed me (many times) that it's a baby blue Bugaboo. I don't think anyone has seen it yet, but apparently that's what she told some ladies she met, who then told the press.

Another lovely day and we are at my parents house in Cornwall for the weekend, so off to the beach today and then have one of DH's friend's birthday party tonight. So I think I'll be shattered tomorrow!

Hope you all have a lovely day today!

Morning ladies
Welcome dolly and monkey

Have a lovely weekend away roxvox
Sending my sympathies to all not sleeping well, I hve been waking up to wee but managed just the once last night thank goodness because I was horrendously grumpy yesterday. Hope you manage to find time to nap today natalie

ruby Im not sure if this will help but after giving birth to DS I was very swollen and was advised to wrap up an ice block or peas in a tea towel and use that to reduce swelling. Make sure uts not too cold obviously but just might help a bit, if not might be worth going to Dr just to check no infection or anything?
Cant remember who mentioned it but I have taken off my wedding ring this week, think the heat has made the swelling worse and couldnt get it off on Wednesday night. Feels very odd not having it on.

28 weeks today and also carrying very low this time. Think is makes my bump look smaller.
Enjoy the sun everyone.

char1eston · 13/07/2013 08:42

umlauf - sainsburys had 1/3 off lansinoh breast pads the other day - if you're stocking up on things

OrangeBlossom2 · 13/07/2013 09:10

Flexing my foot helps me too smitten.
This morning I started leaking white milk from my nipples rather than the clear stuff it has been recently. Is this still colostrum?

roofio87 · 13/07/2013 09:27

thanks for that charlston my sis recommended trying lots of different makes of breast pad and when you find one you like pay for it, not an item that its worth just getting cheaply!! I've heard the lanisoh ones are good though. my sis was bf my niece while I was staying and she made me have a good old inspect of how it all works, we were laughing cos she.is usually a very reserved person but was more than happy for me to just be closely looking at her boob for a while! was good to see it being done properly in rl though as its the one aspect of looking after a baby I still feel pretty clueless on!! got an appointment with a bf support worker at 30 wks too, a 2 hour workshop so that should be good!

ruby not quite the same but after this heat and a little weight gain I had some rubbing on my bottom yesterday, had to get my free sample of sudocrem out!! god pg is glamorous!!

I managed so well last night, only weed once at 6 30 then straight back to sleep till 9. I needed it!! baby is getting rewarded today with a vast amount of bbq food!!!

roofio87 · 13/07/2013 09:29

also, definitely noticed that I can no longer lie on my back without feeling really out of breath and tingly, like I'm not getting enough oxygen round my body, its weird!!

PseudoBadger · 13/07/2013 09:30

Definitely Roofio, I had that issue on the sofa yesterday. I think it's the Vena Cava being squished.

monkeytree · 13/07/2013 09:45

Morning Ladies
Another night of walking back and forth to the toilet, think I may soon wear the bedroom carpet out with all my night time treks! Feels like I've been to an all night party but without the alcohol! Hope to catch up with a nap later. The disturbed sleep does catch up with me particularly when I'm at work - my memory and concentration are really affected but break up for the summer hols next week.

Re breastfeeding pads. I think I previously used the Lanisoh pads and remember them being quite soft (dim and distant past of previous pregnancy with dd)

roxvox Cornwall is very lovely hope to visit with the family during the Summer hols, have a lovely time.

PseudoBadger · 13/07/2013 10:08

Lanisoh pads are lovely

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 13/07/2013 10:20

Morning ladies, on my phone so only a short post (makes a change from my epic ones!) but just wanted to say hello to Dolly and Monkey.

Monkey - I'm due DC2 on 7/10 and my DD will be 7 in December so we have a very similar age gap. It will be interesting to see how are 'big' girls get on with being big sisters.

Think DD may have caught impetigo from school - spent the morning frantically googling info on pictures and 'impetigo and pregnancy'.....I'm a bit of a worry wort anyway but having eczema always makes me feel more vulnerable to catching stuff like that. Going to be on the phone to the Doc first thing Monday morn.

Have a lovely day one and all x

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 13/07/2013 10:22

our not are - sorry x

ananikifo · 13/07/2013 10:34

roofio I feel the same way and I have a lot of difficulty getting comfortable lying down.

DH is on a rafting trip today. I'm not sure what to do with my day to myself. I had ideas of going to the Next sale but after seeing what's already sold out online I don't see the point. I don't have comfortable enough shoes or clothes right now to just go out for a walk in the heat. My mw told me yesterday that lots of pregnant women need to buy bigger shoes because of the foot swelling.
Hence the need to go shopping. It's a vicious cycle!

I may end up sitting at home watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer and eating ice cream, doing chores in between.

Anyone have nice plans?

MotherOfNations · 13/07/2013 11:03

Yes Orange it's still colostrum. You'll notice it's a cutard yellow sometimes too.

Hello to Dolly and Monkey. Glad there are more of us expecting girls now.

GTbaby · 13/07/2013 11:06

I used tesco own maternity pads. Identical to boots ones. Good and cheap. Sainsbury worse I tried!
Brest pads I used lansol. I didn't really leak much as I didn't seem to have much milk. So couldn't really test them.
Def get lansol nipple cream.
Whitch hazel to put on maternity pads. And lavender for soaking in bath to help stitches heal.

Sry. I know random advise post. Lol Grin

JellyCurls · 13/07/2013 11:24

Bridget if she has impetigo it's very contagious. Make she has her own face cloth and towel and wash after each use, don't let her touch it or it could spread. Keep washing your hands if you near her too. Dd has caught it a few times from school, you get two kinds. The common one can be treated with fucidin cream but keep applying after rash has cleared. Dd had the streptococcal type which is rare but meant md and DH both ended up with bad tonsillitis this type wa cleared with antibiotics.

Off for my prenatal pampering now which I think I deserve after standing outside ironing for 2 hours. Have a nice day everyone x

roofio87 · 13/07/2013 11:45

GT I love random advice posts, it all goes down in my pregnancy notebook!!

GTbaby · 13/07/2013 12:40

Argh. Got a letter about blood tests. All clear of GD side. But am anaemic. So need to take iron and frolic acid.
I hate taking iron. I'm rubbish at remembering taking pills and they bung me up Confused

Better go find them Hmm

chickieno1 · 13/07/2013 13:36

Gt baby I m on iron. I put them in my room and take them as soon as I wake up as empty stomach helps absorption. Try and take with juice as the vit c helps absorption too. Plenty of fruit and veggies, I try salad with every dinner, and not majorly bunged up this time. I was with ds which was awful.
