Haylebop12 · 12/07/2013 10:19

My friend is 6 weeks behind and I swear her pregnancy is going faster then mine Hmm

Umlauf · 12/07/2013 10:25

Morning everyone. orange I am sooo jealous of your shoulder massage! I never get massages, DH is crap at them and his thumbs get sore Hmm

charleston* I couldn't believe how expensive rental deposits were either, we were panicking because a lot of places insist on 10K in a special bank account, which acts as an insurance in case you can't pay rent (it is really really difficult in spain to evict tenants) So in a way we were lucky ours was "only" 3k plus 1k estate agents fees and then first months deposit. We've learnt a lot very quickly!

Hayle its so lovely you are talking about him with his name! I have sort of started to do the same but it feels slightly strange to do so, DH hasn't yet. Was it Isaac? I'm really impatient too now, the fear is subsiding and I just want to meet him! Dh says he wants to meet him so he can have someone to talk to when I mumsnet on my phone/ipad in the evenings...

Blimey shirehobbit that is so nice of you to offer to go in for the inspection! What do you teach? I really want to train as a 'real' teacher if we move back to England as I love teaching TEFL to teenagers so much.

blondies so funny how people's bump reactions can vary! I think a lot of the time they have no ieda and just pick something to say out of the pregnancy phrase bank. I wish someone would describe me as small though, I keep being told how HEEEOOOUUUUGGGGGEEE I am, although I think I'm looking small - average in the bump region, going by everyones FB photos.

I may be being a bit silly here, but would anyone else be really put off from using a name if it was used by the royal couple? We've decided on Albert (Bertie)and have been for ages, but then someone on another thread said it was a contender for the royal baby name and I thought that if it was, I don't know if I could go ahead with it, everyone would think we were staunch royalists and had copied them!

Hope you're feeling better today bridget

I'm off to blightly this afternoon! Got my shopping list for Boots to get all the napopies/lanisol etc. Any recommendations??!

roxvox · 12/07/2013 11:25

Umlauf same goes for us re baby names. James is the top name on our boys list, but it is also the bookies favourite for the new Royal baby! DH and I discussed it last night and agreed that, if they do opt for James, then we will probably use it as a middle name instead. DH's family love the Royals, and so I think people would assume that that's why we chose the name and not because it is an old family name.

Bridget - another one sending commiserations for the test. I passed on my 7th. Keep buggering on.

I feel like shit today, light-headed and dizzy. Good job I haven't got to achieve much. Baby is wiggling about quite happily, thankfully.

Have most people got pretty good ideas about names? We have not got a scooby. DH really wanted Mia, which I like, but seems to have gone off it, then I came up with Hazel, which grew on him, but then I remembered that someone I used to know and really dislike had a very badly-behaved daughter called Hazel, so I'm not so sure. He likes Alice, but I don't think it goes with our surname. She's going to be called Babything or Kitten at this rate!

roofio87 · 12/07/2013 13:01

oh my ladies, those who.already have dcs I do not know how you do it!! I have my 3.5 yo nephew and my 10 month old niece today and I'm shattered!! nephew is watching toy story as I needed a break from his 10 000 questions a minute and niece is still happily playing despite supposedly always having a nap straight after lunch!! she just wont go down!! I'm guessing she'll tire herself out eventually!?!?

JellyCurls · 12/07/2013 13:02

Am sitting here at work and I swear I can feel my feet puffing up as every minute passes. Can't work out what I can put them on to raise them up a bit. Making for a bit of a grumpy Jelly.

Got a pre-natal pamper day to look forward to tomorrow so that should make me feel better. Never had a massage before so a bit nervous

Haylebop12 · 12/07/2013 13:04

Yes umlauf were going with Isaac. Funny because when I was of with dd her name was also decided from 20w scan and when people used it, it felt weird! And wow, that's an expensive deposit! Ours was same as our rent. However some did want over £1k for a house that was £575pm! Tbh they needed the thousand to get that one livable!

I think the royal name would put me off tbh. Not long to wait mind. Just like anyone with kids calle Brooklyn, suri etc you automatically think they've copied celebs.

claphammama · 12/07/2013 13:13

Feeling like shit today too... positively lifeless and shuttered... perhaps the air pressure is lower or something? can't wait to go home today... should actually achieve something today but can't see it happening.

I know what you mean about names. DS's name is Leonardo and when he was born, 5 years ago, Leonardo di Caprio seemed to be the flavour of the year. So many people asked me whether we named DS after him. And I don't even like him as an actor! Thanks God we don't seem to be getting it anymore...

Natalieand · 12/07/2013 13:18

Its been so quiet on

thecat we haven't decided on a name ATM I like dexter and theo but it seems to change every week to be honest so god knows what it will be by October 14th saying that dd referred too the baby as dexter the other day and its made me sway more towards they name now lol but if by some miracle the royals chose a name I had planned on using I would definately discount it

Got such a headache/migraine behind the eyes but its quite over cast today so I think its probly the air pressure making it worse

roofio its a bit different when its your own kids kind of- lol its easier to tell them to shhhhh for a start and like u say usually the little one would usually be having a nap right now x

BowlFullofJelly · 12/07/2013 13:33

I'm shattered as well today - interesting theory about the air pressure clapham, although I think for me it's because I've actually had to use my brain and do some work this week, which is the first time for a while Blush

roofio don't assume she will tire, she will certainly probably get over tired and have a melt down - helpful!

Can't decide whether to spend this afternoon listing what I need to hand over for mat leave at work, or listing jobs to do at home before baby arrives.....(or have a little snooze under my desk)

chickieno1 · 12/07/2013 13:33

Sorry about the test bridget. I'm another one who gave up after two very frustrating "tests" probably about 5 years ago. Will have to do the whole process again which I'm not looking forward to. Keep going as you'll probably get it next time.

We have no names here yet.......

Congrats on getting the apt sorted. Must be such a relief umlauf. Enjoy boots :) lansinoh is pretty good stuff as was kamillosan for baby's bum.

Impatient for baby to arrive but also bit apprehensive. Feeling q unite down at the moment. Just worrying about everything family, finances, career (lack of at the minute) ..........feel like I want to curl up somewhere and not come out til oct. I know that'll make things worse but just feel crap :(

Sorry about me me me. Feel like don't have anyone to talk to at moment and don't want to worry dh :(

Maybe some sunshine will help

claphammama · 12/07/2013 13:44

sorry you are feeling down chickien - these are very normal worries and, as you can see, we all have days like this. The good thing is that they don't last! You can always talk to us and indulge in me me me posts here X

bowlfull I'm so tired pretending I have a brain... and they expect me to use brain every day here... I don't have it - I put my handheld hoover in the fridge yesterday...

DS felt the baby kick for the first time last night - got so excited, he was squeaking with joy. The most excited big brother in the world

Just got an email from our Parent Teacher Association about end of year and teacher gifts. And realised that our secretary's surname is Careless... isn't it a perfect surname for a secretary? Currently the highlight of my day!

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 12/07/2013 13:50

Lots of us seem to be feeling rather crappy today, Flowers and Brew to anyone feeling rough.

chickie so sorry to hear you are feeling down - I think pregnancy is such a tough time because although there are, of course, lots of lovely bits it's also so worrying - not only about baby's health, the birth etc, but also all the other stuff you mention - finances, impact on career etc. (I've not got one either!)

Perhaps it wouldn't be such a bad idea to have a chat with your DH? Is he generally pretty supportive about things? Perhaps a little TLC and reassurance from him is just what you need right now?

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 12/07/2013 13:57

Ah clapham - your DS sounds a real sweetheart. I'm not sure if DD has really felt our baby or not. A few times she has put her hand on my bump and insisted she could feel kicking, but I'm not convinced as I've not felt anything at the time Confused

DP hasn't felt the baby yet (he gets very squeamish) although he has seen my belly twitch from a distance.

Love the secretary's name too.

Shirehobbit · 12/07/2013 14:28

umlauf I currently teach KS2 at a girls independent day school.

chikenio - I feel very much the same, a lot of the time. Finances in particular, keep me awake at night. Not helped by todays's events: Catastrophic toilet leak - looks like seals at the bottom of the cistern are shot. Cue dripping through the kitchen ceiling.
We're off to Wales this afternoon, so have switched off the water, drained the cistern and will ignore/forget about it for a few days.
DH's patronising tone on the phone when I called to consult about it though, I will not forget so easily. Gggrrrrr Angry

LostMySocks · 12/07/2013 14:30

No Real idea on names yet. DH wouldn't take things seriously until my bump started showing properly and he felt it kick at about 24 weeks. We m

LostMySocks · 12/07/2013 14:32

Wretched phone. We move into a new house in 2weeks so maybe that will get us more focused. Otherwise the poor thing will continue to be called baby bear after it arrives

On a different topic. Anyway else getting really bad calf cramp? I've woken up screaming several times and DH finding it quite stressful as his first assumption is that there is something wrong with the baby

roofio87 · 12/07/2013 14:36

yes to the calf cramp, always getting it in the night!!

niece finally gone to sleep, just put her down and thought I'd let her cry for 2 mins and she was asleep after 30 seconds!!

PseudoBadger · 12/07/2013 14:42

I'm worn out today, took DS to the farm this morning and then we took the dogs for a walk. My back and tummy are sore and I feel quite PGP-like today.
DS has never really just let me rest, he loves to have me play with him or I have to follow him up the garden or something -"Mummy come and see..."
I've managed a quick sit down by getting him to paint the steps with water :o

TheCatIsUpTheDuff · 12/07/2013 15:28

Thanks for the Brew and Flowers , Bridget. Same to you. I dragged myself into town to get some tailor's chalk and feel a bit more alive now. My job for the afternoon is to make a start on my baby blanket - got some cream fleece and some cotton fabric with cows and flowers - just need to attach one to the other and turn inside out. Keeping it simple as I haven't got a machine and I'm not very skilled.

DH felt the baby wiggling for the first time the other night! His response was "there's definitely something in there, then. Not just toffee crisps!" Charming and delightful man. He then did his best snoring walrus impression all night while the baby did star jumps in my belly. I REALLY don't want to lose the spare bed, but we have nowhere else to put any baby stuff, it's all in my mum's spare room now!

TheFalconsmistress · 12/07/2013 15:43

Had a long lie today as i felt pretty rotten in the morning i think its all the up and down to the loo in the night Hmm

I am sorry you are feeling down chicken but as clapham this is exactly the place where you can let off steam about your worries, we all get days like it!

Umlauf congrats on the apartment i quite like working to tight budgets for things (not that i have a choice) I Do love a bargain though, do they have like freecycle or that over there??

Dollybird86 · 12/07/2013 15:48

Hi can I join Im due on October 24th & having a girl!

Natalieand · 12/07/2013 15:58

roofio87 · 12/07/2013 17:14

phew handed my niece and nephew back over to my sis!! just starting the 4 hour trip home now!! I'm gonna be so tired by th time I get home!!! also, I think I might actually be melting!!

PseudoBadger · 12/07/2013 17:29

Hope you enjoyed it Roofio! Long trip though :(

The house is a bloody tip and my pelvis is so painful it feels like it is fused into my lower back, I can't really stand up straight. So the house is staying a tip.
