natalie I find it helps to put my hands (up to past my wrists) in really cold water, and to put a bit on the back of my neck. I always wear my hair up when it's hot as having my hair down just makes me hotter! I also find that if I am really hot then putting some cold water on my bump and lower back and then standing in the patio doors helps. Plus, make sure you drink loads of fluids!
bridget I get that with my bump! Last night as I was trying to go off to sleep it happened 3 times in the space of 5 minutes (each lasting 10 seconds or so). I commented to DH that it was almost like baby was having a fit in there, which immediately made him panic and put his hand on my tummy, and then it didn't happen again.
MoN I would agree with Feminist about using a swim noodle. I used to teach swimming, and they are really quite effective. Being pregnant it might be a nice idea to use a noodle to reduce straining, even if you were normally a good swimmer.
clapham I feel the same about the Royal baby! Imagine how she must be feeling
... My Gran keeps me up to date with everything to do with the baby, and I just saw an advert for a free 'Royal Baby Guide' with the Daily Mail, which I can almost guarantee she will have kept to one side for me for when I next visit (along with any newspaper clippings that mention the royal baby, or indeed anything to do with babies at all!)
DH has got his whole family visiting this weekend, and they are all off to an airshow tomorrow (which I have opted out of due to heat concerns alongside being on my feet all day, needing to wee regularly etc. So instead I am going to go and satisfy my craving to prepare more by doing some shopping for 'bits and bobs'... Going to a big shopping mall (with a Boots, M&S, John Lewis and a Kiddicare). On my list so far I have some delights including maternity pads, breast pads, big pants, nipple cream, cotton wool, muslin cloths and I am also going to have a nose at digital thermometers. Anyone have any suggestions to add to my list?
I am also keen to check out changing bags. I kind of have my heart set on the Bababing Deluxe Daytripper (which someone on here mentioned?) but at £65 DH is taking a bit of convincing that it's any better than the £13 one he saw the other day...!
