flyer - that is pretty hilarious, I would definitely put my foot down! Sometimes partners are like kids - constantly testing boundaries.

wicked, bridget, I loved the look of the snuzpod but as bridget said, was sad to see it's only out at the end of October. Earlier this year they were estimating delivery in August. Might have to go with the bednest or equivalent - they are just so ugly in real life that it's a bit painful!

Sitting at home with wet flannel on my head and eating an ice lolly. This heat is unbearable!

PseudoBadger · 17/07/2013 13:15

Bridget - my halo slipped this morning after my bad night's sleep and I didn't get up into 6.30 so no time at all for a walk so far today. I'll take them out later tonight, as long as there's no thunder or I'll lose the youngest one :o

Clapham - they are great to do it for us twice a week - but we do live with them so they only have to stagger down the stairs :o I wouldn't ask them once if we ever manage to move out.

Shire - I was just asking as I know some people rule CMs out for various reasons. Sounds like you will hopefully be able to get a good balance.

PseudoBadger · 17/07/2013 13:20

88 days until my c section date Bowlful! I have bought nothing, got nothing out of the loft, really done bugger all.

BowlFullofJelly · 17/07/2013 13:26

Thanks Pseudo for reassuring me I'm not the only one lagging on the preparation!

Agree on the weather hotsoup, and jealous of the flannel and ice lolly. According to BBC weather it's going to cool down slightly in London Friday through to Sunday - "only" 24 degrees on Saturday, can't wait! I don't know how any of you fellow London ladies are managing to commute on the tube at the moment - fairly sure I would be getting myself signed off if I had to.

Shirehobbit · 17/07/2013 13:39

Good advice, Clapham - but the nursery we saw is most likely where we'd want our LO to go; it's great, our neighbour's son is thriving there - I have no issue with them at all, it's just that 6-7months feels too young for us when we have other options (not wishing to cause offence to anyone who has sent their children to nursery at that age).
We've got our faces known there now and know how long their waiting list is.
DH had never been in a nursery before so it was important for him to get a context for some of the things we've been talking about.

As I was once told - worry about the things you can control/effect, don't waste energy on those that are out of your control.
I will investigate childminding options, but then we'll sit back and see what the next few months bring Smile

Shootingstarsandcomets · 17/07/2013 13:39

flyer that is the most insane thing I've ever heard! I don't think he'd really want to go though once your little one arrives he will be far too in love with him/her to leave and far too tired!!
My app says 94 days to go. I've been looking at the calendar and trying to work out when we can finish the nursery and there doesn't seem to be anytime until end sept which is freaking me out a little bit as I'll be too big by then to be much help and I'm quite a control freak so like to do a lot of it myself rather than rely on DH.
Did you enjoy Luther last night clapham? Last one next week, why do they only make 4 episodes when its so good?!

roxvox · 17/07/2013 14:14

empress according to the dating scans I am due 2nd October, but I know when I ovulated (10th/11th) so in my mind around then is my true due date (although I know that baby will come whenever he/she wants). So we may well be in Treliske at the same time! That would be cool. Have you arranged a midwife down there or are you just going to pop back up to Saltash for any appointments during that time?

27 days left of work... I cannot tell you how much I enjoy crossing them off at the minute.

OP posts:
roxvox · 17/07/2013 14:18

Also empress I have heard about Treliske maternity not having room or being understaffed too, but apparently things have improved there recently (fingers crossed). They don't do tours, which I find annoying as I would like to know what to expect/where to go when I arrive there mid-labour! I will just have to believe that what's meant to be will be and hope that all will be fine on the day Smile

Empress77 · 17/07/2013 14:32

ive my fingers crossed too - although it was only last week where my friend had no wehere to go! My sisters two children were born there in the last few years though and I went in for that so am at least confident in what to expect if things go ok (as opposed to there being no rooms availiable!) The staff were brilliant with her and she got in, had the baby, got given tea and toast and then went home. Seems a very nice place. Hope you go ok, and hope were not competing for the last bed!! I havent got organised enough yet to think about the midwifes - I am going in saltash and I guess they think Im going to derriford -so guess id better speak to them about it at the next appointment - I dont really know how it works, but definitely want my ds to be cornish. I guess its harder for you for midwifes - have you a plan already?

Warlin · 17/07/2013 15:19

wow pseudo 15 days is fab!
I have 29 days left.. :( finishing 6th Sept

shire I agree re looking around and have you friends that could recommend? With ds1 I had his name down for a large nursery that lots of my friends used and then found a smaller, much more personal one that I loved and so lost my deposit. So far we are so happy with it and they really focus on development and not just babysitting. I think you'll know when you find the right one. he goes there 2 days a week and to my parents 2 days and I work 4 days (with extended hours so still full time). I think he has a lovely balance but I still feel guilty some times that I'm not always there for him.

flyer I agree with the others, there is no need for a vegas trip. You will need his support more than ever when the baby comes and it's not right that he is off having a holiday. I'd nip that idea in the bud pretty quickly :)

claphammama · 17/07/2013 15:39

Just popped out quickly to Sainsbury's to get some food but mainly to stand 10min in their frozen food department... the best 10 minutes of my day so far

Luther was amazing shooting. Also gutted it's only 4 episodes this time...

I see what you mean shire... I sent DS to the nursery when he was only 7 months old - it was a lovely nursery but I was traumatised and depressed for a month. I wasn't ready to go back to work and part with my tiny baby and it felt horrible leaving him there every morning, from 8am to 6pm... But I had a massive mortgage then and no choice. And... he absolutely loved it. He wasn't upset at all, didn't really cry, and had so much fun. I agree with whoever said it depends on the baby. DS was very sociable and very confident, and loved being surrounded by people, the more the merrier. But I remember some of my friends' babies were very different and reacted to the nursery very differently.

pseudo LOL, completely forgot you live with them right now :-)

Just counted - 31 working days left for me... booooo. And this is only because I've brought my maternity leave forward by two weeks!

DP just texted me asking if I can cook him a curry for tonight... in this heat? This is really testing my love...

Haylebop12 · 17/07/2013 15:54

clapham so you see why I'm looking forward to going back to work tomorrow! I get to spend a lot of time down the chilled isle too :-)
Going to catch up on the thread this evening with a beer!

Sweatinell'!!!

Wickedgirl · 17/07/2013 16:06

this one says end of August delivery?

I only have 4 working days left. The family I nanny for are moving house (200 miles away) so I dont have a choice about leaving dates as I am being made redundant.

claphammama · 17/07/2013 16:07

totally hayle!

By the way, I'm really bored so just re-ordered our spreadsheet with due dates and names so we can now see who is first to go. I'm sad I know but it was the only thing my brain was capable of in this heat...

Haylebop12 · 17/07/2013 16:10

Can you link to it clapham?

claphammama · 17/07/2013 16:12

it's the same one roxvox already put on top of this thread. Here it is again Due Dates and Names

HotSoupDumpling · 17/07/2013 16:16

wicked - yeah, I saw that too - but if you go to the individual websites where you actually buy the crib, they both say they are taking orders for end of Oct delivery. Muh.

PseudoBadger · 17/07/2013 16:31

We need a new column for C Section date! Mine is the 7th October...

roxvox · 17/07/2013 16:39

Empress from the first appointment with the midwife we told her our intentions. She still tried to convince us to have a look around the local maternity unit and to consider having a home birth (something they seem to be really super keen on around here). After I told her a few times that we definitely wanted to have the baby in Cornwall, mostly because that's where our family is and we will need them in the few weeks after the birth, she said that I would have to register with a doctors surgery down there and get myself a local midwife who would then arrange the hospital etc. My Mum works in Perran doctors surgery so I just asked her and she's got me a midwife sorted Smile

I spoke to someone the other day who said that you have to make sure that you have Treliske written all over your notes, otherwise they may try to transfer you to Derriford if they are getting full to make room for people who have specifically requested Treliske. So I think it would be worthwhile to mention it to your midwife soon.

Ha, Clapham I was looking at the spreadsheet earlier and debated doing the same, just to keep myself busy whilst procrastinating doing any actual work Grin

OP posts:
claphammama · 17/07/2013 16:52

our next challenge roxvox (to finish this long working day) is to sort out pseudo's problem and include selective cesarean dates without making the spreadsheet look messy and illegible... a tough day

BowlFullofJelly · 17/07/2013 16:59

Some kind of colour coding perhaps Clapham?

Am jealous - after weeks of doing sod all waiting to finish, my bosses seem to have decided in the last 48 hours that my whole department needs to be restructured from two operating centres to one. And they seem to be expecting me to sort this out before I go on mat leave on 23rd August. Part of me wants to be the one to arrange what needs to happen, but the main part wants to cry, tell them I can't cope with this massive task in such a short deadline while preggers, and go hide under my duvet.

BowlFullofJelly · 17/07/2013 17:01

Second thoughts it's a bit hot for hiding under duvet....

roxvox · 17/07/2013 17:03

clapham I like bowlfullofjelly 's suggestion. Could those who have c-section dates planned just replace their 'due date' with their scheduled c-section date and then colour code it? I may have possibly dedicated more time to this thread than to my actual job today Blush

I've been dying in our non-air conditioned office today. My thermometer hit 34 degrees just after lunch. Luckily my boss just emailed me to say I can start working from home after lunch from tomorrow. Thank the lord!

I haven't even thought about nurseries yet, how do you know when you are supposed to register? All very confusing.

Hope you're all coping better at work than me!
