OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
weebarra · 15/07/2013 15:27

Actually had my WC vaccine today - was booked in before I went on holiday. MW recommended I get it, but I saw her on her first day back after being off on long term sick so she may not have been totally up to date.

MrsMangoBiscuit · 15/07/2013 15:42

Hmm, my MW said I could have it if I wanted, but I'd have to book in with the GP for it. She did seem fairly positive about the reasons for it, but wasn't at all pushing for it. It was actually me that brought it up, not her. Confused

ION, my lovely, lovely friend, who I usually go to a play group with on Monday afternoons, offered to take DD with her this afternoon (with her own two DSs) to give me a rest as I'm still feeling rotten. She's just phoned to say they've been really good, so would I like her to take them for tea too, as a treat, and so I don't have to face feeding DD. It was just so thoughtful and kind, I'm now sat here sniffling into my ribena. Blush

JammyTummy · 15/07/2013 15:58

Mooster that's a good question re protector, I've been wondering that myself!

Readytosettle · 15/07/2013 18:05

Purple I like the sound of the t-shirt tip...am currently over in Ireland on a business trip & it's absolute bliss! Still t-shirt weather, but so much cooler & much less humid. I'm looking forward to a good nights sleep 2nite!

I was given a nice printed leaflet on whooping cough, unfortunately I've recycled it but am pretty sure it had plenty of scary death stats in it....may just be a London issue caused by migration etc tho.

kimjayne · 15/07/2013 18:51

having a moody, irritable day today. Just asked DH what hes been upto today (his day off).... apparently hes done nothing. He says "I didnt feel like doing anything ... so I didnt". this would be fine If I wasnt 33 weeks pregnant and if he wasnt in the firing line for redundancies. He seriously needs to write a new cv and apply for new jobs asap or we will all be living off my mat pay by august. Why do I fibd myself tidying, cleaning, shopping etc on my days off ... whilst he sits on his arse?? Angry sorry to rant. Just really need to get things off my chest.

Kittenkatzen · 15/07/2013 18:53

Awww mrsmango how lovely is your friend Smile hope you've enjoyed the rest!

MammaGnomes · 15/07/2013 19:10

Hello everyone

Really need to make more of an effort on here. Manage to stay up to date on Facebook with our notifications so I tend to abandon here.

Kitten- so sorry to hear about your dad!! They can work miracles these days, wishing him a speedy recovery

Mango- hope your feeling better. It's rubbish being ill at the best of times let alone heavily pregnant (yes I think we can say that now!!) sending hugs.

Running- I wish I was a bloody penguin at least they share the load with daddy penguin. I'd love for OH to carry this one around for a day or 2 to give me a break

twintrimum · 15/07/2013 19:26

Started my mat leave today. Got through a few chores and I feel better for it but it's a struggle just carrying a bag to the car!

kitten I've been there with my mum. Her dignity through the whole thing has been inspirational. Huge huge hugs and positive vibes from me.

joskar you sound as if you are having a much tougher time than I am and I'm pretty fed up with it. Each day I check the long term forecast for signs of when this might break. I would just like a drop of about 5 degrees, no rain, just respite.

purple loving the t shirt tip. I'll give it a go.

Met my NCT group this weekend and they were all lovely. I was nervous about what to expect with so many different experiences but I found it all very balanced, helpful, friendly and welcoming. Just hoping these two don't arrive early so I can make it to the rest of the course!

jennimoo · 15/07/2013 20:00

FB group is now thoroughly tidied up. If I have deleted you by mistake please PM me on here with your email address for FB and I'll re-invite.

Weareboatsremember · 15/07/2013 20:13

Hi all, this is Jules from the Facebook group. I've not posted on here before, but have been following the threads from the very beginning, so I feel like I know you all! I'd hate for people to think I was a random interloper when I'm not!

Anyway, so I'm team pink, due 18/09 with our first. So sorry to hear about your bad news, kitten.

Really struggling in this heat; drove for miles yesterday trying to buy a fan and nowhere had one melts into a sobbing puddle

PurplePoppySeed · 15/07/2013 20:27

ready and twin let me know if the t-shirt thing works, I'm not quite at that stage yet as I've been in the office today cooling down, but might be when working from home on weds!

Joskar · 15/07/2013 21:55

Thanks for the kind words, ladies. I'm less of a grumpy pants today. Sorry about my tantrum! More physio on Wednesday so hopefully there will be a little relief.

Feeling very sorry for everyone else as the heat levels here are much more bearable. You are all welcome to visit! Wink

kimjayne I feel for you. My own DH earned £200 Shock last month and the stifling panic I feel when I think about my maternity pay running out in November is not good. I think that sometimes the reality of a baby is a bit remote for OHs.

flipflump · 15/07/2013 22:25

Kitten, so sorry to hear your news about your dad. That must have knocked you sideways. Wishing him a speedy recovery and hope you're all receiving lots of support.

I feel so guilty moaning about the odd aches and pains when some of you are really suffering. Must be dreadful and I really feel for you. The heat is enough to battle with.

Had 32 week app today. I'm still measuring 2 weeks ahead of where I should be, so I'm off for a growth scan next week. Quite excited to get an extra sneaky peak at bean, I know that's a little naughty and I should be more concerned about this whopper. Maybe they'll be able to tell us the sex this time, baby was a prude at 20 weeks. She said baby is breech, was quite surprised as all kicks and movement are high above my belly button, strong arms maybe?? Everything else is perfect and the next time I see her I'll only have 2 working days left Grin

Wincher · 15/07/2013 22:48

I don't have a 32 week appointment - still only seen a midwife three times!

I would like join the fb group now it's secret - will pm jennimoo.

Kittenkatzen · 15/07/2013 22:53

Have to say I'm very Envy of the ladies already on mat leave...I've got 4 weeks left at work and really can't wait to ditch the hideous commute - am getting very grumpy with my poor defenceless fellow commuters (in particular the complete minger who burped beer breath into my face the whole way home today )!

Welcome weareboats, nice to have you here Smile

Thanks again for all the well wishes for my dad - if only good wishes and positive thinking could cure these things, he'd be right as rain in no time!

ION - went for a swim this evening, not been for a couple of weeks. Was sooooo lovely to feel properly cool in the water, but omg I suddenly seem to have the lung capacity of an asthmatic hamster! Just couldn't get enough air in to get into a rhythm properly!

SGJ · 15/07/2013 23:09

I don't have another appointment until next Tuesday when I'll be 34+6 - haven't seen anyone since 28 weeks! Seems like ages ago.
Baby has been v v quiet all day and now I'm lying in bed it is pummelling me to bits. It's really painful! Anyone else feel like they're getting beaten up from the inside?!

I'm actually looking forward to work tomorrow - only have two more 3 day weeks and then it's home with DD until baby comes - in this heat, looking after a toddler is far harder than being at work with 15 stroppy teenagers! And - greatest tragedy of all - SHE IS DROPPING HER NAP. Actual sob. Now, when I need an afternoon sit down more than ever, she decides she doesn't need to rest. May finally have to succumb to more than 10 mins of tv a day.... I fell asleep during a 5 minute Peppa Pig episode today!!!

weeblewobbling · 15/07/2013 23:23

hi all had to change name on here.....

joskar really sorry to hear you are suffering so badly. I have my first spd consultation and physio same day this week! not sure what to expect.

well I had a scan to check if placenta moved - it hasn't! I'm preparing for a repeat section to be honest.

really sorry to read sad news on here too

jennimoo · 16/07/2013 05:55

Btw, now the FB is sorted I've reported the posts with lists of names so MN HQ can remove for us, for everyone's privacy.

Amazingly given this heat I slept til 5:30am! And DD at the childminders today 8-3 so hopefully a restful day!

fl0b0t · 16/07/2013 07:31

Cheers for your help jennimoo
joksar I'd be grumpy too if I were you.
I'm impressed anyone is attempting to dtd at the moment BTW mango. No way we are going to even attempt it!!
Also got a decreased appetite but did have a snickers for breakfast at clapham today (after getting up at 5:10).

Husband and I both having shared sudden panic about being "ready" for baby to arrive. Hopefully we'll het the last few things sorted the next few weeks.

Mil decided she wants to visit in Aug (though hadn't told us til we asked). Got two weddings, our wedding anniversary weekend away, our baby shower, my husbands project release at work and my last (busy!) Month at work.....so... Where did she think we'd fit her in? Fuming :( she has been sitting about stressing at home rather than actually speaking to us. Think we have convinced her to hold off until late Oct now when baby will be here. Also need to see if FIL plans to cone and meet baby too? Seems uninterested!

Kid that hit me in the car last week uninsured eyeroll and has been trying to lecture me by text about why I should let his uncle do the work on my car rather than go through my insurance...... Yeah right. Car being picked up tomorrow.

Kittenkatzen · 16/07/2013 07:47

You lot need to get yourselves over to the pregnancy board and read the fred called "Good things about a newborn / new motherhood" (on phone so can't link, sorry)

Such lovely lovely posts, am having a little cry on the train to work! Smile

frogchops · 16/07/2013 08:08

So, I was a little bit quiet/hot/stuffy/fed up yesterday after a day in an office where the air con had broken Confused
DP comes in an asks if that's all that's wrong or am I 'a bit emotional' ....of course it was going to send me into a snivelling mess. Blush
Have also had an alarming amount of people say they'll be suprised if I go to due date, with no evidence whatsoever, but still a bit scary!

Fozziebearmum2be · 16/07/2013 08:11

Thanks for the recommend Kitten, just been blubbing too, everyone has to read that fred! Smile

Wincher · 16/07/2013 08:52

Bad luck SGJ, what terrible timing to drop the nap! Can DD not stay in childcare for any longer even though you're off? My DS is staying in nursery (and he goes year round) while I'm on mat leave, though it does help that he's getting his free 15 hours a week from September (I must actually see if we need to do anything to trigger that or if it starts automatically). Plus I carry on getting childcare vouchers which will more than cover what the 15 hours doesn't.

I definitely think TV is the way forward though for the next few months! It won't do them any harm to spend a bit more time than usual watching it. DS is also into Peppa Pig but it doesn't seem to be on watch again on the TV at all, so he has to watch it on my tablet - boo! I wish he would be happy to watch whatever's on CBeebies, but no, he whines for the two or three programmes he likes.

JammyTummy · 16/07/2013 09:00

When is this royal baby coming out?!?

TripleRock · 16/07/2013 09:12

I've still got another month left at work before I stop :( Taking a block of annual leave then mat leave starts on my due date. Now wondering if I should arrange to bring it all forwards by a week maybe?

Re mattresses, I never bothered with water proof covers for moses basket mattress as they're only used for 5-6 months if you're lucky then binned. I did double sheets and folded muslin over the head end to catch drool and baby sick so you can just change ths muslins when you need rather than stripping the whole basket.

We do have protective covers for the cot bed mattress, but again not plasticy.

With the gap, it will probably go once bedding is in place I should have thought.
