jellycurls I had this on Sunday - wore a nice summer dress, but walking for 5 mins and my thighs were burning! As others say, there are chaffing gels available, or maybe apply some talc?

Is anyone like me today and just not motivated or simply unable to do work?! I'm so hot and my head is just mush!

Smitten1981 · 09/07/2013 15:06

Try not to worry too much about all these guideline measurements. It's just the NHS being desperate to put numbers on everything, I'm pretty sure it doesn't mean anything much in the end. Like due dates, bit pointless really and just stresses everyone out over nothing.

I read this morning that babies grow at totally different rates from now onwards, some end up double the size of others and vice versa. Everyone is different.

TheFalconsmistress · 09/07/2013 15:42

Feel so lonely today, Its too hot to go outside and I have no visitors. Dh is working all day and ds has decided to watch tv rather than play today. I suppose i should relish the calm before the storm of willow Biscuit

Natalieand · 09/07/2013 15:48

falcon with u on that one I set dd's paddling pool up and sand tray in garden and all she wants to do is sit in doors which resulting in me 'closing my eyes' everyone's being boring and I have zero motivation to do n e kind of house work knowing that I'm going to lego land tommorow and will be on my feet ALL DAY

Shirehobbit · 09/07/2013 16:03

I have been a little scuppered on my mission to find other pregnant ladies in the area; I went to the advertised aquanatal class last night, only to be told by the rather rude man on the desk, that the class had been pulled due to lack of funding and no one was running them anymore.
Then I went to pregnancy yoga this morning, and the only other lady in the class was 38wks.

So, I came home. Felt a bit sorry for myself. Ate some nice food and had a nap.

I then got on the internet/phone and resumed the mission. Turns out the idiot on the reception desk was incorrect and there is another aquanatal class in the borough (though not at the time/day advertised by the council - they don't make it easy, do they Confused ) so I can try again on Thursday lunchtime.
I'm sure that other women will join the yoga class over the summer, and in the meantime I should make the most if the close attention from the instructor.
There is also the Bumps to Babes NCT class for a bit nearer our due date - I think I'd feel a bit daft going now. And the sling library social for after baby has arrived.

I so desperately don't want to find myself completely isolated in October!

claphammama · 09/07/2013 16:04

rutabaga... according to the weekly newsletter, my baby is the size of rutabaga today. I actually had to Google it and it appears to be the humble turnip. 25 weeks today and 25 weeks appointment tomorrow. I shall report back.

thanks for all your support ladies - really appreciated! Hugs to everyone xxx trying not to feel down today although couldn't sleep at all last night. (bowlfull lets see how disciplined I will manage to remain with my weekly allowance in this beautiful weather :-)

warlin I would also say don't worry about the size especially if it's only one measurement and you are only 2 cm off. For all we know, she may not have measured it right! It's not a science. I was positively massive with DS and he was only 6.8lb at birth. It's all a bit of guesswork

falcon and natalie cherish it! I would love to be bored sometimes :-) DS has entered a very needy stage recently and is following me everywhere, even to the bathroom...

I need more summer clothes... urgently

TheFalconsmistress · 09/07/2013 16:12

Legoland in this heat natalie Oh i don't envy you, loads of nice cool water although i would need to know where the loos were as i would be there every 5 mins!

clapham I know should be happy about it feel like im in limbo though Oliver still needs me but is getting more independent by the day and Willow is not here yet at least when he goes to school in Aug i can get a snooze if its boiling like this! Though i will still miss being the bringer of food and drinks and occasional hugs!

Natalieand · 09/07/2013 16:12

clapham my 36 week preggo friend had a gorgeous maxi dress on yesterday £20 from new look the shoulder and boob are like a black vest top and from just under the boobs down was a nice pattern and lovely told her I was tempted to copy myself but now I'm concerned about chaffing as I have big legs :-/

Natalieand · 09/07/2013 16:17

Tell me about it falcon I'm not happy about going tbh but dh and I are taking dd with his nan and grandad and so I was like well u don't really need me there I can take it easy at home but apparently its essential I go so I have made a point that if I'm in pain anywhere (mainly a stomach pain I get when on my feet alot) then if I wnna sit down for an hour and chill and catch up with them in a bit then I will without being made to feel quilty. To make it worse I'm a big girl anyway dh is a big bloke and we have to fit us 2 plus dd's car seat in the back of a focus so that will be a very uncomfy 1.5 hour drive there and the same again home!

Sorry for my moan I sound ungreatfill about a nice day out I wish I had a wheel chair for him to push me round in lol

JellyCurls · 09/07/2013 16:17

Tried to buy lanacane from boots and they wouldn't sell me it cause I was pregnant. Said I should use Vaseline, when I pointed out this is greasy and would ruin my clothes she told me I would need to put up with the pain then. All said while looking at me like I was a huge fat monster

Sure I am being a pregnant hormonal person over this but seriously, am sure nothing in it that will harm. Am off to google cream now to see what is in it seeing as how she wouldn't even let me see packaging Angry

Shirehobbit · 09/07/2013 16:23

Can you order it off the internet, jelly?
I think Bodyglide has the same chemical make up as Vaseline, if that helps.

FeministInTraining · 09/07/2013 16:25

Roxvox I like that way of working it out, I can add a week on Smile

HotSoupDumpling · 09/07/2013 16:27

Natalie - you don't sound ungrateful at all, it's important to let them know what your capabilities are! I couldn't and wouldn't walk through Legoland in this heat without trainers, five servants following me around spraying me with evian and fanning me with palm leaves, and a foot rub afterwards...

Flyer747 · 09/07/2013 16:29

Excuse my crudeness but my tits are massive, we are talking Jordan but a saggy take on hers with way more veins. I have just taken a picture in the bathroom in one of my bikinis which I wore at 6 weeks pregnant, I will put it in the facebook page, me and dp laughed! Just packing for my holiday tomorrow and thought I'd try an old bikini on.....GrinGrin

Shirehobbit · 09/07/2013 16:47

Same here, flyer though I wasn't quite ready to see the funny side when DH commented, "they're not exactly pert anymore, are they?" Angry

Natalieand · 09/07/2013 16:47

Those r some impressive boobs flyer

hotsoup your post made me chuckle. I can't get out of going I've been trying all week. I intend for dh to take plenty of cash for unlimited supply of ice creams. I've brought some lucozade sport (the still ones with the pop up caps) u reckon they'll be ok to freeze so they stay cooler?

I think it will be some kind of miracle if me and dh are on talking terms by the end of tommorow with my constant moaning and no doubt swollen (by then) feet

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 09/07/2013 17:07

Hi Jellycurls so very sorry for sending you off on a fruitless mission - I know lanacane do some products that could be 'iffy' in pregnancy but I never imagined their anti-chafing gel would be anything but harmless.

I've just got a tube of the stuff from left over from ages ago and remembered it worked quite well. It does sound like this bodyglide product may be worth investigating though.

Natalie not sure if Lucozade sport is the same as the original version, but I think the original has quite a bit of caffeine in it (was looking at the ingredients post-GTT and was surprised). Definitely not trying to be a drink and diet policewoman, but didn't want you to inadvertently have caffeine if you've been deliberately trying to cut out/reduce tea and coffeee etc. for that reason.

claphammama · 09/07/2013 17:18

no chafing problems here (yet!) but just a thought, perhaps stupid... what about sudocream...? I know it's not glamorous but it was designed for similar problems andI remember I was amazed how quickly DS's skin healed once I applied it. I don't know what's in it but I remember it inspired me to use it on myself, for some skin irritations and it worked beautifully. Ignore me if it's totally impractical and stupid!

ananikifo · 09/07/2013 17:21

jelly you can try talc or even cornflour, but it would need reapplying throughout the day. I've also heard that stick deodorant (not roll on or spray) would work but I've tried that.

thethreeblondies · 09/07/2013 17:29

Natalie I froze some lemon squash to take with me on Sunday, worked well, I bought bottled water and added the squash, make sure u leave some room as it expands when frozen (sorry if that's obviousWink ) left overnight it was frozen solid, put a couple of plain waters in freezer as well for a few hours and they were very cold but not completely solid! Also bought a little handheld fan for £1.49 with batteries from halfords, I'm sure u will have a lovely time just take it easy and send them on for a bit while u sit in a shady spot (and people watch for a bit.....one of my favourite past times!)

Natalieand · 09/07/2013 17:36

Thanks bridget I don't have caffeine in anything else really no coffee tea etc so a lucozade is my indulgence sometimes lol

I might just wel freeze some squash too then dd can share it as obv she can't have the lucozade.

Just found an old top that just about covers bump that will be suitable for tommorow, if dh dares make one comment about how it looks I may kill him! Lol

Hot dogs for dinner :-) I cannot cook full on meals in this heat x

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 09/07/2013 18:03

Know what you mean about cooking in the heat Natalie - my DD has had a cold 'picnic tea' (i.e. sandwiches and extra bits and bobs) two nights running. I do feel rather lazy but she does have school dinners so I'm telling myself it all balances out.

DP is also in Germany with work at the moment so it feels like there is even less reason to cook. Barely see him anyway during the week but I'm missing our quick catch-ups before bed and in the morning. I hate being the one to lock-up at night and end up checking everything is turned off about 10 times.

My caffeine indulgence is my morning cup of coffee - initially I gave it up but somehow it's gradually slipped back into my morning routine.

Natalie the new Duplo splash world sounds really good and a cooling place to retreat to.

Sparkeleigh · 09/07/2013 18:10

Oh, I had a thought Nat, how about taking one of those evian sprays for the heat? Boots do one called Magic Cool too, it's brilliant, I've been using it at night to cool me down.

Natalieand · 09/07/2013 18:17

Oo sparkleigh good idea I have some left over from when we went to Spain last year should be enough for me for tommorow even if I am selfish and use it to myself lol

thethreeblondies · 09/07/2013 18:29

We had hot dogs for tea too Grin add some salad bits and some new potatoes yummy! We have eaten similarly every day, can't face "proper" meals, I picked up some filled pasta for tomorrow!
