OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Natalieand · 05/07/2013 18:21

She's been on it for about 5 weeks now soup its made a small difference but not as much as I would have hoped gp is guna do second lot of bloods 100! Days after the day she started the iron so that's September some when x

ananikifo · 05/07/2013 18:23

Natalie if your child's blood tests indicate low iron, she needs the supplements. The warnings mentioned upthread are more for if a child eats a whole bottle of adult multivitamins or of iron supplements.

Natalieand · 05/07/2013 18:25

Thanks ana I've heard u can have too much iron but never heard of making someone that ill or someone actually being effected by it xx

OrangeBlossom2 · 05/07/2013 18:25

Natalie I am absolutely sure a dr would prescribe a safe amount that is right for your daughter and if her iron levels are low them it seems a very sensible idea to take supplements. I didn't mean to worry you. My grandad has a genetic condition where the body stores too much iron and so it is corroding his liver and other organs. I just don't like the idea of taking extra unneeded supplements when the levels in my blood were above what they need to be already.

I love finely grated halloumi mixed with mint and sprinkled over pasta.

PseudoBadger · 05/07/2013 18:39

I'm so fussy about cheese. That basically means I only like mild cheddar, mozzarella, cream cheese and grilled halloumi (but only if it's freshly grilled and piping hot). I wish I liked more.

Shootingstarsandcomets · 05/07/2013 18:45

Mmmm yes halloumi and mint yum yum. I've been eating bagged salad without washing it too and runny eggs- no salmonella so far Grin
Ds in bed already, time fort glass of wine and what a treat to be able to sit out in the garden for it. Today has been my perfect maternity leave day, lets hope summer 2014 is long and hot!

cazboldy · 05/07/2013 18:55

hi all, had a busy few days......

re more babies - think this will be my last, but 6 is enough for anyone right? Grin

Loved reading all the how i met my dh/p stories, so here's mine!

Was friends with dh's brother, who was round mine for the day (we were 11) but his mum's car broke down, so dh, who had newly passed his driving test came to get him instead.

It was like love at first sight for me! (at 11 Shock!) and I could hardly speak, my mum laughed at me! I developed a massive crush on him, and spent the next couple of years boring my family and my friends to tears, drawing his name in lovehearts Blush following him, giving any girls that dared to speak to him death stares, inviting myself round theirs a lot and generally being a nuisance.......

In the end we started "seeing" each other ( I think he just gave in!) but because of the age gap my parents were not pleased, so had strict rules.

After about 18 months I was allowed round his on a sunday afternoon, if his mum was home to "keep an eye on us!"

Which obviously didn't work - I got pg with ds1 when I was 14, and he was born 2 months after my 15th birthday (my poor parents Sad)

but we got married when I was 16, and now have been married over 15 years, and have 4 more lovely dc, and obviously this one on the way. Smile
Still love each other very much, and cannot imagine life without him!
Rarely a cross word (only ever about family (his or mine! Grin)

Shirehobbit · 05/07/2013 19:45

That's an amazing story, caz Grin

Natalieand · 05/07/2013 20:23

Anyone else rediculously tired today? I can barely keep my eyes open!

Soupqueen · 05/07/2013 20:25

Snap, watching the tennis but eyelids are so heavy, I'm tempted to go to bed!

Wickedgirl · 05/07/2013 20:27

I have had a couple of glasses of red wine during the second trimester but it does make me feel guilty so i tend to steer clear of it.

i think this baby will be the last.......i have found this pregnancy a lot tougher than my other 3.

it was really hot here today but we have a pool in the garden so i have been going in that the last couple of days. Its very refreshing.

Are most of us almost at or just past 24 weeks now?

Wickedgirl · 05/07/2013 20:28

I refuse to go to bed before 9 pm. I will be in bed soon though......I think it's the heat wearing all of us out

PseudoBadger · 05/07/2013 20:31

I'm ok, closed my eyes earlier whilst DS was lining up his cars but didn't nap, that may have helped. Just had a curry take away and a glass of Cobra which was lovely. DP has gone out on a stag night....

Natalieand · 05/07/2013 20:36

I'm so sure the baby is standing almost upright dh commented that my stomach looks a weird shape and also everytime he kicks I can feel it low down around the public hair area and it feels like his feet r gunna kick their way out of me any minute and sends a horrible stabbing pain each time he kicks

Turn round baby please I much prefer it when your upside down lol

roxvox · 05/07/2013 20:37

I'm watching the tennis too. Not Murray's biggest fan to be honest. I don't mind if he wins, but I would have preferred it to be Nadal or Federer.

Just had a BBQ for tea and now drinking some 0% Bavaria white beer we found at Waitrose. It's very perfumed, but nice!

Shirehobbit · 05/07/2013 21:01

I did not expect this match to be still going at this time if night.
It will end before 10pm, won't it?! Tim Henman just said they can play until 11pm Shock

PseudoBadger · 05/07/2013 21:05

Curfew is 11

Soupqueen · 05/07/2013 21:07

I've just had some strawberries which have perked me up a little, need to see this game to the end!

Are any others with anterior placentas still not feeling much? I'm 25+4 and am feeling some flutterings and thumps but not really defined kicks, definitely nothing strong enough for DH to feel and my stomach doesn't move at all Sad

PseudoBadger · 05/07/2013 21:14

I get strong movements Soup but no visible rolling of stomach and DP hasn't felt it (but I can from the outside)

Natalieand · 05/07/2013 21:19

My tummy moves when I get kicks but not every day its dependant on how he's laying really dh has felt him 2-3 times I'm 25+4 with anterior high placenta

Shirehobbit · 05/07/2013 21:34

I get regular 'tickly' movements down low throughout the day, with the odd more forceful 'kick' through the placenta, which kind of vibrates across my tummy, but can't really be seen.
DH has felt a couple of those vibrations, but that's it.

(I'm 25+5 with high anterior, too)

Flyer747 · 05/07/2013 21:49

I am getting kicks which I can feel on the outside however everytime DP gots to feel the baby gets shy and buggers off!

Staying at my mum & dads this weekend. It's lush to be waited on hand and foot. I will even get a mug of tea bought up to my room in the morning by my dad. I don't remember it being this way when I lived at home all those years ago. Retired parents are the best Smile

Flyer747 · 05/07/2013 21:50

Oh and anterior placenta 25+5

Haylebop12 · 05/07/2013 22:02

I get that too flyer when I moved back temporarily I got it every morning!

I'm exhausted, one day in work and I feel like I've done a 60 hour week. My right hip feels dislocated and painful to walk on. Starting to get very fed up and kinda dreading my holiday now in 3 weeks as there will be lots of walking and doing stuff.

Sorry for the rant, trying to be positive but I'm running out of energy to be optimistic Sad
