No lady bit checking here MrsO - until the consultant did my sweep without telling me

Wickedgirl · 02/07/2013 21:15

jelly I got to hospital 40 minutes before baby 3 was born. I am still hoping for a water birth though.

mrsO I have never had any "intimate" checks other than those done in labour

Flyer747 · 02/07/2013 21:15

So the ladies that are considering gong into the birthing pool would you like your DH's or DP's to go in with you? I asked mine earlier and he said he would really like to....crazy man GrinGrin but I'd quite like that too, might me kind of comforting.

Wickedgirl · 02/07/2013 21:16

Flyer.....no way. Just me in the water.

Natalieand · 02/07/2013 21:17

mrso the only time I was examined Down there was at 28 weeks when I thought I had leaked waters but it was infant pee Blush lol and when I had sweeps and then obviously when in labour x

Natalieand · 02/07/2013 21:18

infant pee I mean infact pee haha awkward ...

Shootingstarsandcomets · 02/07/2013 21:24

I only ever had one check down there to confirm that my waters were leaking and I wasn't wetting myself! Don't think they normally check you until they start examining your cervix in labour?
Just booked next years holiday flights!! Not for the baby I can add him/her when he/she arrives. Quite exciting though, I'll have 7 months to become beach body beautiful lets hope I can do it! Eeek!

Flyer747 · 02/07/2013 21:25

Lovely shooting where are you all off to?

FeministInTraining · 02/07/2013 21:29

I think a water birth looks amazing. The bit that puts me off is that I get hot and faint when in pain and would probably want to get back out when that happens. I would be reluctant to be in there for the pushing- I know I probably won't care at the time but the thought of sitting in a pool full of waters and gunk makes me feel a bit sick!! Don't think DP would be v impressed with that either lol. Again, I know I probably won't care.

Thanks for the nice comments, baby is back to its normal self now. And so am I! My mum came with me to be assessed this morning. While waiting and listening to screams I told her that I was going to breathe my baby out and it will all be v dignified and serene. She laughed at me Grin

FeministInTraining · 02/07/2013 21:34

Is anyone else watching BBC2?! DP's dad is a bus driver, the thought of him sitting in training with a man singing about ice cream cones is making me laugh. Saving child genius for when DP gets back from camp, no spoilers please!!

Haylebop12 · 02/07/2013 21:42

mrsO no internals until labour here also. Some feeling baby's position quite low down towards the end but nothing intimate.

flyer dh is the opposite. First thing he said to me when I mentioned I was considering a water birth was "we'll I'm not getting in with you!"

natalie infant pee Grin

roofio87 · 02/07/2013 21:54

I had no idea that ur partner could get in the pool with you!!!! another thing putting me off a water birth Haha!!

Flyer747 · 02/07/2013 22:16

So it's seems blokes in the pool isn't the norm then. I'd probably end up drowning DP in there when I'm in pain and he starts annoying me Grin haha!

I baked a whole tray of flapjacks about an hour ago, DP and I just polished off the whole lot, now feeling v v sick and glutinous. A healthy tea there too.

FeministInTraining · 02/07/2013 22:23

Aww don't let us put you off Flyer as long as DP knows what to expect and you're comfortable then go for it! It's not unheard of.

MrsO27 · 02/07/2013 22:33

I read 'infant pee' loads of times before I read your follow on comment natalie haha! I was thinking, surely infant pee would not be a good sign!!
You've put my mind at rest ladies. No mad 'grooming' panics for a few weeks yet Grin. That's if it will still be physically possible to do any grooming in that area in a few weeks time Blush

Natalieand · 02/07/2013 22:47

Opinions needed fallen in love with a new name

Theo....?

Flyer747 · 02/07/2013 22:53

I love it Natalie. Our next door neighbours boy is called Theo. I suggested it to DP but he wasn't keen..it goes well with your surname too.

claphammama · 02/07/2013 23:05

sorry to lower the tone (again) bit does anyone know if the actor playing Luther is single and potentially interested in pregnant women? so hot!!!

love Theo Natalie, one of my favourite names

DP is not getting in the pool with me - he is not small... so the pool would overflow. Simple facts

roxvox · 02/07/2013 23:08

natalieand Theo is a family name for us (DH's Dad's middle name and his Grandad's first name, and his great-Grandad's middle name etc), but it's been poached by another family member now so we can't really use it. I do think it's a lovely name though. wickedgirl has it on her name list too according to Google docs!

SeriousStuff · 02/07/2013 23:12

Oh my gosh - I've missed two whole threads!

Re. the pool debate, I was all for it until recently and I've started worrying that being in 'dirty' water will get on my nerves on the day...am I over-thinking it? I definitely wouldn't want DH in there and I don't think he'd want to be!

I'm 25+2 today and had my latest midwife meeting. I measure at 26 weeks apparently - how accurate are the measurements?

Flyer747 · 02/07/2013 23:13

What's the actors name clapham?

Am I the only saddo on here that read 50 shades of grey and can't wait to find out who will be cast as Christian Grey?! I hear Matt bomber (total hunk) or Ian somerhalder (also a hunk) are the favourites. Matt Bomer is just lush.

claphammama · 02/07/2013 23:16

he is called Idris Elba. google him. Is it just mean or does anyone else think he is hot.

Haven't read 50 shades of grey I'm afraid. Am I missing much? DP's 77 old mum has though!

Flyer747 · 02/07/2013 23:18

Good point about size of DP's clapham. It would be like sharing a pool with shamu from sea world GrinGrin. DP isn't overweight he is just a big built guy.

Flyer747 · 02/07/2013 23:23

Just googled him, he looks hot in some pics not so in others. I liked 50 shades, the books weren't very well written but I'm a soft cow and liked the romance/love story side of it, and fell in love with Christian Grey a messed up millionaire who is fit as...

Flyer747 · 02/07/2013 23:25

Btw I was on about my DP being like shamu not yours...I re read that post and it sounded like I insulted your DP Shock
